Eeek can't believe how close we are all getting!

Out of interest, how many clothes have you all bought for baby (if this is your first and don't already have a supply!)?
We don't know the sex so I haven't gone too crazy - I think about 10 sleepsuits/vests each size; newborn and 0-3m.

The plan is to see what sex baby is and what size and buy from there! I'm sure we'll get gifted lots too in the first month or so.

I was just thinking about it today and was wondering if this is actually enough to get us through the first few days!

I've packed three of each size in the hospital bag.

You know the stuff for heartburn you get prescribed from the dr, if you asked via the common ailment scheme would the pharmacist prescribe the same?

CharXo · 12/12/2023 20:23

@LavenderSweetPea my first 2 pregnancies were an absolute breeze compared to this one. I never used to realise what people meant when they would say what a struggle being pregnant was as I never had any symptoms/problems and I really enjoyed being pregnant! This time I’ve been so hormonal, constant mood swings, put on so much more weight, aches and pains and the heartburn is on another level. Please don’t worry! Your experience is your own and I’m totally envious of you right now haha!

@CheeseAndCrackersx i have just picked my prescription up tonight from the doctors for the heartburn. I’m sure when I was reading online about it at the weekend the nhs website said you can ask for over the counter but they just won’t be as strong as what dr would prescribe?

Pharmacist can supply the lower strengths only - though GP would normally recommend starting at a low strength and then building up if necessary!

@anony1111
Thank you, it's so reassuring to hear from other people and know I've not just slipped through the cracks!
I had the HbA1c blood test at my most recent appointment and no news yet (so I think that means no concerns), but that was because I've been really thirsty, I've not been referred for GTT at all.
Even though I know it's probably nothing, it's made me more anxious about birth incase she is massive!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/12/2023 21:14

Thank you ladies 🙂

I'll take a waddle to the chemist tomorrow and see how I go with what they give and if no luck then I'll contact the dr and can say I've atleast tried the lower dose x

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/12/2023 21:40

Is anyone else's bump feeling very hard/firm?
Mine has been all day, no softness at all. Is that normal?

user2489 · 12/12/2023 21:50

@CheeseAndCrackersx mine feels like that sometimes, I think for me it's cause I sit on the floor like an idiot and I put pressure on it all crouched. Or.. gas 😂

Kelb79 · 12/12/2023 22:30

Eurgh! I’m panicking about birth size too!! I’m only measuring 10th centile pretty consistently, it appears I carry small! But my little chunk is measuring 88th ffs 🤦🏼‍♀️😳🫣 eeeekkk!!!
got another growth scan on 28th (IVF so every 4 weeks now) so really hoping they’ve levelled a bit!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Ihatewinding · 12/12/2023 23:11

@CheeseAndCrackersx if the pharmacist won't give you omeprazole then you could fork out for gaviscon advance until get a prescription from GP? It's miles apart from the usual gaviscon and it's non branded counterparts, but costs 2-3x more for the privilege tbf!

Something @CharXo you could also give a go if not tried? I keep it by my bed on a night and have a good glug before sleep then top up once if needed in night. The advance version is lower sodium so actually recommended more if pregnant over the usual stuff. Expensive and for some reason difficult to get on prescription but usually available in supermarkets and pharmacies.

That and omeprazole have been a revelation this pregnancy. I had acid associated vomiting all way until birth with my last pregnancy, but not since first trimester with this one 🙌granted I started the omeprazole at 8 weeks this time around!

MrsW9 · 12/12/2023 23:38

@Kelb79 @Ihatewinding Thank you! Midwife didn't seem concerned.

I can't believe there's another 10 weeks to go - don't know how baby will find the space!!

Ebonythoughts · 13/12/2023 00:07

Officially 32 weeks so just 8 weeks to due date! (Though I have a feeling this little might wanna come earlier). Also have my MIL visiting for a few days and it’s exhausting being host, even if she is lovely.

@msp2023 first baby so we had no idea what to but so just got 5 sets of newborn and 5 sets of 0-3 months for baby grows and vests and said we would buy more once we know her actual size. Plus people have said they grow pretty quick the first few weeks so don’t want to get too many things.

Size wise baby has been measuring at 95% but because I don’t have gestational diabetes and she’s been growing consistently, midwife isn’t too worried. But she was already almost 4lb at 31 weeks so I’m hoping I won’t have to push a massive baby out 🙈🙈

@CheeseAndCrackersx yes mine gets really tight but doesn’t last long. When it’s consistently tight it’s usually when I haven’t been drinking enough water.

Those who have hip pain when sleeping, what do you do to manage it? Pillows don’t seem to be working and sleeping on my right side feels the most comfortable for my bump but not my for my hip anymore 😳

Mangotango39 · 13/12/2023 03:26

I don't have too many terrible symptoms and I still think my bump is pretty small. Not too uncomfortable anyway.
I completed my first week testing with GD and they have dropped me down to testing every second day as my levels were very positive! Woo!

scan on Monday and I can't wait to see baby again as it's been so long. Checking a previous bulge found on kidney and also size (because of my GD)
hoping baby isn't massive!!!!!!!

We have our names locked in for both boy or girl . Can't see us changing them. We found agreeing on a girls name so much harder!!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 13/12/2023 07:02

Is anyone else getting like a vibrating sensation in their vagina? 😂 I know that probably sounds crazy if you aren't but I hope someone is on here.

It honestly feels like baby has a little phone in there. And it's like a quick soft vibrate you'd set for your phone. But it started yesterday and it's nothing like lightening crotch.

Yes! I've been getting this too and thought I was the only one and sounded mad! DH thought I was insane 😂 tried googling it but a mixture of answers/theories - some say baby engaging (I think mine is still transverse though so can't be that), some say nerves are being a bit squashed, and some say that baby is having nerve spasms inside! Apparently normal though? All I know is that it's the weirdest feeling ever! 😂

LavenderSweetPea · 13/12/2023 08:16

@CheeseAndCrackersx yes me! It feels like baby is sort of fizzing all over. Glad it's not just me!

anony1111 · 13/12/2023 10:49

@RaspberryTreehouse it's amazing what our bodies can do, although my first baby was 9lbs14oz and I'm only petite, I didn't have any interventions really, just an episiotomy

Mummapenguin20 · 13/12/2023 11:51

My gtt test came back as positive for diabetes 😞 no Christmas chocs for me xx

Mangotango39 · 13/12/2023 12:23

@Mummapenguin20 oh no! Welcome to GD club 😣the club no one wants to be in!

it's not TOO bad when you figure what works well with you. But takes up quite a bit of head space unfortunately!

Mummapenguin20 · 13/12/2023 12:30

Hopfully we can all get through unscathed. Nervous tho already prone to pre terms xx

Shrillwaffle · 13/12/2023 13:13

@Mummapenguin20 what we’re your levels like? High or borderline? You can still have sweet treats just in moderation. They’re putting me on the medication as my fasting reading is higher for some reason but all my levels throughout the day are fine borderline low 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s all very confusing tbh

im 32 weeks today 🥳 6 weeks until I meet my rainbow 🌈 as I’m getting induced at 38 weeks, should get a date at my next consultant appt 😬 just getting more anxious the nearer it gets as I just don’t want anything to go wrong 😩

Mummapenguin20 · 13/12/2023 13:33

My fasting was 5.4 the one after there drink was 18.4 😔 x

Shrillwaffle · 13/12/2023 13:38

@Mummapenguin20 have they put you straight on metaformin? Don’t know how to spell it 🙈 and have you done readings since the test? My reading after the drink was 7.8 they said if it was 7.7 I wouldn’t have to do all this

Mummapenguin20 · 13/12/2023 13:42

I had the test Monday and they called me today. She’s sending the test kit to me by post couldn’t get there today. She’s told me I need to monitor for a week and go from there xx

Shrillwaffle · 13/12/2023 16:23

@Mummapenguin20 keep us updated you may be surprised and it may be fine, I wouldn’t worry too much it seemed overwhelming at first having to test so much but it’s not too bad and you’re numbers may turn out to be okay xx
