Is anyone getting period like cramps? Mainly thighs and inside vagina?

Mummapenguin20 · 11/12/2023 19:59

Had my gtt test today and growth scan, almost 29 weeks and baby is weighing in at almost 3lb 🙈 xxx

Ihatewinding · 11/12/2023 20:31

Had my private scan today at 31+5, measuring around 75% centile and already 4lb 8oz or so if accurate 😮

I've been having horrendous rib pain, was already having some rib flare and expansion pain but my recent chest infection has set off really bad costochondritis on my left side and it's agony at times. When tried reducing codeine today it's been awful. WFH tomorrow but not sure how will manage Wednesday and Thursday at this rate. Have so much I wanted to tidy up before going off on annual leave the following week.

I'm happy with the scan weight so hoping is accurate as really want to try bring baby out sooner rather than later as he will be same weight at 37 weeks as my daughter was born at just over 40 weeks. Going to focus on stuff like antenatal expression and boosting oxytocin but might end up begging for an induction if can't cope. I really don't like how much codeine I'm needing to take to get any pain free periods or sleep these days Sad

Loving cleaning atm! Esp with the Brillo soap pads 🫠

Do you have names picked?

CharXo · 11/12/2023 21:06

I’m still suffering massively from heartburn/reflux to the point where I’ve completely gone off food now. It even wakes me up during the night. I’ve finally managed to get hold of my doctors and they’ve sent a prescription over at 5pm to my local pharmacy so fingers crossed I can pick that up tomorrow because gaviscon isn’t touching the sides anymore!

MrsW9 · 11/12/2023 22:16

I just had a midwife appointment (29 weeks) and baby was lying sideways. I think from the feel of the bump and where I feel the kicks that that's the baby's preference. Has anyone had a transverse lie at this point and baby moved?

Kelb79 · 11/12/2023 22:48

@MrsW9 mine is transverse too. Both my midwife and antenatal course leader have said not to worry at this point - plenty of time to move and they don’t tend to worry about position until 36 weeks 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Meeting · 12/12/2023 07:49

@MrsW9 mine was on her side at last weeks appointment and the MW didn't tell me that wasn't how she needs to be! Now panicking, what happens if she doesn't change position?

Ihatewinding · 12/12/2023 09:20

@MrsW9 @Meeting
There's still plenty of time to change position don't worry.

My first was transverse (side lying) at 31 weeks, breech at 34 weeks (which was a bugger for reflux as she wasn't engaged at all) then felt her go head down at 35+4 which the biggest whooshiest wiggle haha. They don't care until 36 weeks which is when would send you for a scan if unsure if head down or not. And you may not feel them flip either.

There's things you can do to encourage head down, e.g. you can have a look at spinning babies online, but I wouldn't worry about it until at least 34 week appointment tbh.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/12/2023 09:32

I'm now on the single digit countdown; 9 weeks to go 😮

Cheetocat · 12/12/2023 10:19

@CheeseAndCrackersx ah congrats, I'm just a few days behind you, so exciting!

amyg1985 · 12/12/2023 10:54

We have the same due date @CheeseAndCrackersx - time is flying now!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/12/2023 11:53

I remember someone having the same date as me but I forgot the name 😀 @amyg1985
I can't believe it! It honestly feels forever ago since that positive test.

How are you feeling?

My plan for this week is to wash the new lot of his clothes and his sleeping bags then everything is washed and ready for his arrival 😀

LavenderSweetPea · 12/12/2023 12:34

This may seem like a strange question, but I'm 31+3 today. A few days ago I went to an NHS labour class with 8 or so other mums at a similar stage. The instructer asked us to put our hands up for if we had various symptoms including PGP & hip pain / bad back / heartburn / difficulty sleeping and a few other things I think the idea was that we would see everyone is suffering and it's ok and it's normal and we'll get through it.

The thing is everyone put their hand up apart from me for heartburn and all but one for hip pain, and everyone had their hand up multiple times except me. I didn't put my hand up for any of them because I've not really had any of them (yet). I felt like a total mug tbh. Like don't get me wrong I feel heavy and picking things off the floor has become a pain in the arse (occasionally litterally lol) because the bump is in the way and I certainly can't walk as far or as quickly as I could before, but I have just been counting myself lucky to make it this far without any major physical pains. But now I'm starting to wonder, is there something wrong with baby and I'm not having any of these things because of that? I know I'm overthinking because I had a scan 3 weeks ago and baby was small but not instantly concerning, I feel him move all the time so I take that to mean all is well.

Please can someone reassure me that either you also have none of these symptoms, or maybe you've had friends who were lucky and didn't get any of these things majorly and their babies were normal and ok?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/12/2023 12:39

@LavenderSweetPea I'm only a week ahead of you and I don't have any physical symptoms really except maybe a bit tired and maybe a bit of heartburn. With my first I was fine up until labour (fed up and heavy etc but no hip pain or sickness or whatever) and still walking miles each day on dog walks and to work etc.

I think it's normal also to have limited symptoms, as well as having symptoms. Some of my friends did spinning and exercise classes right up to due date with no issues.

amyg1985 · 12/12/2023 12:40

@CheeseAndCrackersx I'm doing well, on the whole. My hips hurt but I'm seeing an osteopath on Friday so hoping that might help. What about you? It will be interesting to see when our babies arrive and how far apart!

Good plan about doing the washing. That's on my list too. My husband built a new chest of drawers last week so I have a place to put everything so no excuses now.

babythreeincoming · 12/12/2023 12:44

@LavenderSweetPea In all 3 of my pregnancies I've never had any of those symptoms bar occasional heartburn so please don't worry. Both my boys were almost 9lb as well. I sleep right through and feel guilty for saying it but hey 🤷🏼‍♀️

Continue to enjoy the pregnancy, it's your own story 😘

I am in the same boat as you. I feel especially lucky because my pregnancy has felt easy compared to other women's experiences and I always wonder if there is something wrong with me. The baby has been fine throughout and aside from paranoia because my placenta is anterior and I couldn't feel her move much I've not had any major issues/symptoms.

I have been exercising 2-3 times a week, I walk everywhere (slower and I get mega tired) so maybe it's a mix of luck and this idea to keep active that worked for me. Who knows!

These posts help so much and I am glad I followed the thread! ❤️

Nemo145 · 12/12/2023 14:16

My planned section is 6 weeks today!!! Reality is kicking in now and I’m getting panicked. There is still stuff I haven’t bought and don’t actually have the energy or motivation to do so most days.
I haven’t had any heartburn but my hips do really hurt at night when I lay on my side.

LavenderSweetPea · 12/12/2023 14:24

Thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @babythreeincoming @user2489 thanks all for reassuring me, I'm feeling more positive now!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/12/2023 15:01

I wish I could say different about heartburn but mines getting bad now 🙈 to the point I'm being sick my throats burning that much.

Cheetocat · 12/12/2023 15:54

I have loads of symptoms but I think it's all normal whether you have a lot going on or very little, we all handle each pregnancy differently so I wouldn't worry unless there's a huge change in one go like going from many symptoms to nothing or the other way around.

I just put a few birthdays in a new calendar I've got for 2024 and I also put my due date in there which made me realise just how close we all are to meeting our babies, it's not long at all. I'm so excited. We also saw a couple registering their newborn today and we were thinking about how those little cries are going to be our reality so soon!

We're starting a pre-natal class on Friday which I'm really excited for, I have no idea what to expect but it will be nice to meet other pregnant people and their partners.

anony1111 · 12/12/2023 16:00

So exciting to see some of you in single figures now! I have 11 weeks to go until my due date and can't wait to meet baby boy!

I've been extremely tired the past couple of weeks and my pelvis is agony 😫 starting to feel a bit fed up already and feel so guilty for saying that but everything is taking its toll now I'm in the third trimester.

Is anyone else's bump measuring big? Especially those who are on their 2nd or more pregnancies. I got measured last week at 28 weeks and my bump was measuring 35 👀 my first baby was 9lbs14oz and I'm petrified I'm gonna have another big baby. My midwife didn't seem too concerned but I can't stop worrying about it 🙈

This is only my first but I'm measuring big (over 100th percentile fundal height at 28 weeks).
The midwife said it was nothing to worry about and they only ever worry if they measure small, but I can't help but worry!
Do you ever get a growth scan for large fundal height or is it only ever for small bumps?

anony1111 · 12/12/2023 19:33

@RaspberryTreehouse I'm not sure about the growth scan for measuring big, I never got one with my first pregnancy and my bump was huge! I actually have a scan at 32 weeks to check my placenta has moved (was low lying at 20 weeks) so I'll be asking them to check his size too. I mean neither a scan or fundal measurement is accurate but might make us feel a bit better.
Have you been checked for gestational diabetes? Mine came back ok so I think I just produce bigger babies than average but it's making me so nervous for labour and birth 🙈
