@CharXo If it helps, I've just weighed myself and I also put on 14kg. Heaviest I've ever been in my life.

But there is a reason for it, we are growing a human!

My mum put on 23kg by the end of her pregnancy with me, and she shed it all off by the time I turned one. My close friend also had a baby a couple of years ago and she's also shared a similar story.

You've got this mama.

CharXo · 23/11/2023 13:54

@novamama thanks 🙂 nice to know I’m not alone. I’ve never gained this much during pregnancy and I’m really struggling with it!

Mangotango39 · 23/11/2023 14:40

@LavenderSweetPea no signs really , I am white thirsty but there's a heat wave where I am so I think it's that more than anything :/

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 The thought of Camembert is cheering me up haha! Not a bad commiseration prize hahaha!!

Cheetocat · 23/11/2023 15:35

@Mangotango39 Sorry to hear your news, my friend had GD not long ago and she said it was hard but manageable and that eggs were a lifesaver!

Ebonythoughts · 23/11/2023 16:06

@CheeseAndCrackersx thank you! Some days I feel really heavy down there too, especially if I’ve been on my feet for a while.

@Mangotango39 sorry to hear that! My sister had the same and she said it wasn’t too bad but try and get plenty of fibre in your diet and good fats and walk as much as you can (easier said than done I know). My iron is really low too so midwife said I’ll get an infusion in 2-3 weeks if it doesn’t pick up. Sending love x

Well currently 28+3 went for my growth scan this afternoon and all seems well so far so good for now🤞 and little madam is also camera shy too 😂 and she currently weighs 2pounds&10ounces 🥰 have my GTT on Monday as I missed this Mondays appointment 🤦‍♀️ hope all you ladies & babies are doing ok 💕

I've also put 14kg on.
and totally feeling it. Conscious of my legs tbh but pleased it's winter so my long coat covers my thighs atleast 😂

Meeting · 23/11/2023 19:22

I haven't been booked in for a growth scan, should I call and find out why?

I haven't weighed myself since the very start as I have a history of ED and didn't want to even open up the possibility of anything negative. I am definitely bigger but surprising myself at my ability not to obsess over my size as that was a real worry for me.

LavenderSweetPea · 23/11/2023 19:30

@Meeting have you been told you need a growth scan? You usually only have them if your bump is measuring big/small at your midwife appointment or if their is a known potential problem with the pregnancy

Kelb79 · 23/11/2023 22:40

phew…. My bloods all came back clear 🥳🥳 I was sure I was gonna have GTD!! 🫣

Ebonythoughts · 23/11/2023 22:44

Anyone else getting a lot of Braxton hick/tightening? I’ve been getting them on and off the past 3 hours. More than usual. Not pain but uncomfortable 😳

Meeting · 24/11/2023 07:36

@LavenderSweetPea tha k you that probably explains why, I didn't know if everyone was meant to have them

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 24/11/2023 11:25

@Meeting I got them last time but no risk factors this time. My local private scan clinic does a growth scan for £85, so I think I'll get that at 32ish weeks. So that's an option of you want to see the measurements and weight

Yes; well I think that's what I've been experiecing 😅
Atleast once a week my belly will be sore and hard, and it'll tighten with added shooting pain every so often.
Eventually wears off after couple of hours but pretty uncomfortable!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 24/11/2023 19:25

I know we still have weeks left but especially those ladies who have other children, what are your feelings towards those first visitors to meet baby?

I'm just thinking if all goes splendid, natural birth etc and if it's early hours he arrives then by the time the hospital is allowed for visiting off anyone other than partner we're allowed home, would it be terrible if I say please no one visit for atleast the first day & night we're home.
I just want it to be me, my partner & baby.
My mums also my birth partner so she will meet him at the hospital if natural birth.
And if others can visit whilst we're at the hospital still then great it's just more that first time at home I want to be left alone type of thing.

xTinkerbell · 24/11/2023 20:34

Has anyone else got low ferritin levels? i’m 29 weeks and found out today that mine are 9.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 24/11/2023 20:42

@CheeseAndCrackersx well my feelings are that i couldn't think of anything worse than to go back home with a newborn, plus to then deal with 4 kids all whilst I'm walking around with what feels like a nappy to then be greeting other family members! No chance for us! They should already know to just let you settle in at home with baby at first especially if you have other children, it's understandable if they want to offer you help but I think in the early days it's just too much & you need time to all settle as a family especially to establish some sort of routine x

CharXo · 24/11/2023 20:55

Omg @CheeseAndCrackersx absolutely not terrible AT ALL!! This is YOUR baby and it’s upto YOU when friends/family can meet them. Do not feel pressured into letting people come around! I personally hated when they were wanting to hold my boys (I felt super protective over them) and I’d dread the “aww can I have a hold” question. You do whatever you feel is right, at your own pace. As much as everyone will want to meet baby I’m pretty sure they will understand you’ll want a few days to yourself first.

Sunshineclouds11 · 24/11/2023 21:49

@CheeseAndCrackersx Whatever you want goes!
What i've learnt from my first and that i'm doing differently this time is, i'm putting myself first.
I'm naturally a people pleaser and any time family wanted to come round i said yes when really, i was wrecked and couldn't be bloody arsed with them.
this time, i'm prepared to say no and they'll get in touch when they can come if i need some time to myself etc.

redxlondon · 24/11/2023 21:55

My mum is coming to stay with us, but other than that I don’t want anyone around until I’m mobile, I’ll be having a section. So maybe three days if all goes well, I have no clue. If I don’t want visitors they’ll be politely asked to wait, including in-laws.

redxlondon · 24/11/2023 21:56

ps. my mum is a midwife so she has medical privileges 😂

mummylove24 · 25/11/2023 02:58

I had my GTT or GD test yesterday and it went better than I thought, the drink was not as bad as I anticipated, I felt nauseous but didn’t throw up but the 2hrs in those uncomfortable hospital seats 😩 hopefully results comes back normal/negative 💖

Shrillwaffle · 25/11/2023 19:37

hello everyone been a little while since I’ve checked on here I hope you are all doing well xxxx

@Mangotango39 I also failed the GD test but borderline, the reading was between 4-7.8 and mine came back 7.8 🙄🙄 I’ve been tracking it for a few weeks now and haven’t been put on any meds. I find it hard to eat that much and do that many readings I forget to do the one first thing 🤦🏻‍♀️

Shrillwaffle · 25/11/2023 19:37

@CheeseAndCrackersx honestly I don’t want anyone round in the first few weeks apart from my mum and dad I just want to be at home getting used to it with my baby and husband

Mangotango39 · 25/11/2023 20:11

@Shrillwaffle oh no that's so frustrating to be right on the border!!!!

Mine was the 2 hour result. Limit of 8.5. Mine came back 9.6 so quite abit unfortunately 😐

I have the midwife Monday to get all set up , referral to diabetes team etc. just been eating low carb and sugar since I found out . Already a struggle when I am craving sweet things!
