Hi! Just had a BFP after a MC at 8 weeks last year, and am looking for folks to breathe through the next few weeks with. I am in an age bracket where MC risk is high and I’m trying not to get ahead of myself!

@KMM87 it was reassuring. Yeah it was an abdominal scan.
It's awful having to hold it isn't it. Makes my belly look 10 times bigger than it usually is 😆.
Hope everything's gone ok.

KMM87 · 31/10/2023 19:46

@Stephy1024 There was 2. I can't even tell you the shock I'm in. Although heartbeat was only seen for one and I'm measuring behind slightly what I thought. She's told me to go back in 7 days to check on no.2.

Any twin mamas that have had an early scan is it normal for them to be days apart? These are the notes from my report: Bicornuate uterus. The pregnancy is in the left horn. It is a twin pregnancy . Yolk sacs and fetal poles seen. T1 is 6 mm with fetal heart pulsations seen. T2 is 3 mm , however no fetal heart pulsations seen. The appearances are inconclusive.

Stephy1024 · 31/10/2023 19:58

@KMM87 omg two. Do twins run in the family? Congratulations.

I'm no help with the difference in measurements im afraid. Hopefully twin 2 will catch up by the time you go back. How far was you dated?

KMM87 · 31/10/2023 20:10

@Stephy1024 no they don't run in the family, it was two eggs and two sperm. I have read it is more common in over 30s to release more than one egg.

I was measuring behind what I thought, T1 was 6w2d so I'm hoping the other one is just a few days behind.

I'm just in absolute shock and although the thought of twins terrifies me I'll be super sad if T2 isn't viable 🙁

Tefiti3 · 31/10/2023 20:34

Oh my goodness @KMM87 thats a lot for you to process! Hoping twin 2 catches up. Was it a private scan?

Goldie1234 · 31/10/2023 21:59

@LizzeyBenett this is exactly how I feel !!! I'm roughly 6 weeks as well. I'm wondering if age is making me feel worse as I'm 35 now.

@KMM87 oh my goodness what a lot to process !! Hoping for the best for you !!

KMM87 · 01/11/2023 05:58

@Tefiti3 @Goldie1234 it is a lot to process indeed. I made the mistake of googling 'Bicornuate uterus twins' last night and was panicking like mad. My waters went at 32wks with my son and I learnt from google last night my Bicornuate uterus is the reason why! So how I would ever carry 2 babies even close to term is terrifying 😩 I have already had my booking appointment with my midwife too but I think I'm going to send her a message today to see if there's anything different I need to be doing e.g aspirin and/or progesterone. I can't help but not have a good feeling about this.

CamdenQueen · 01/11/2023 07:22

@Goldie1234 I’m 6 weeks tomorrow, 34 and not feeling any sickness at all. My only symptoms are tender boobs and tiredness. So maybe she isn’t necessarily a factor, hard to know.

In a weird way I hope I do get a few more symptoms as currently i don’t really feel any different. I’m sure I’ll live to regret saying that..!

Dottydent · 01/11/2023 08:41

Morning ladies! I’m 5+3 Looking for a little hand hold really. Got some pain in my shoulder on Sunday and midwife said I need to come in for a scan this afternoon as it could be a sign of eptopic. Woken up overthinking every single little symptom and terrified of what we are going to find at the scan today at 3pm. Struggling to keep it together at work!

CamdenQueen · 01/11/2023 09:04

Sorry I meant age isn’t a factor 🤦🏽‍♀️

Bubblesandtroubles · 01/11/2023 10:43

@Dottydent I really hope it is you just overthinking. I hope you get some reassurance. I think there is a chance they won't see anything much either way that early on though (just based on other stories I've read on here). Will keep my fingers crossed for you. Xx

MizzMarple · 01/11/2023 11:29

I’m another one who’s waiting for a scan now as I’m in pain and had some brown bleeding. I have one tomorrow morning in EPAU. I’ll be only just 6 weeks then so not sure if they’ll be able to see anything but we’ll see. And this afternoon I get the post-mortem results for my baby I had in August so there’s a lot going on!

Gt1986 · 01/11/2023 11:53

@KMM87 hello from one bicornuate uterus to another!! Sending you well wishes and hoping your next scan goes well 😊

KMM87 · 01/11/2023 12:02

@Gt1986 haha hi there ❤️ womb!! Thank you so much. I guess I will just have to wait and see what the future holds!! Have you had previous pregnancies? X

Dani46 · 01/11/2023 12:17

Soo, I’ve been panicking about things going wrong and worried I had had another mmc. My symptoms have gone, well I barely have any and my boobs aren’t as sore. I also had a bleed Sunday night, but thankfully not a big bleed and nothing in my pad.
Had a scan today, I’m 8 weeks exactly today so 2 days ahead from what I thought, and baby is doing really well 🥹🥰
I’m on progesterone twice a day now and they have upped my aspirin to 150mg x

Gt1986 · 01/11/2023 12:27

@KMM87 no successful, had an MMC in May this year. Bicornuate was casually mentioned at a private scan (never had a scan before so didn't know in my 36 years). Confirmed at the dating scan when MMC discovered. I also have a tilted womb- it doesn't do things by halves does my womb!!

I've had a scan today at epu as had some bleeding last week, and the consultant said "had you not mentioned bicornuate I wouldn't have known" then said yes it appears to be but not easy to see..... confusing!!

Have you had a pregnancy to term with it before? How did it go? I know I'll likely go under consultant and high chance of elective c section and breech etc. Anything else to note?

SezP · 01/11/2023 12:36

All the scans are so exciting!! Can’t wait for mine

KMM87 · 01/11/2023 12:58

@Gt1986 oh bless you, I'm sorry about your MMC. I hope everything goes well with this one for you. Have they prescribed you anything such as progesterone?

I have an 8 year old - no mention of my funny womb with him. My waters went at 32wks and he was born at 34wks via C-section. They didn't know the reason at the time but lots of reading on bicornuate uterus last night now tells me why!

Just be prepared that this may not be a June baby! My son was due in June and came in April so it was a massive shock. Luckily I was a keen bean and had everything ready. I was in hospital 2 weeks before his birth and then both of us 2 weeks after.

That being said there are also lots of stories of women that do carry to term with a bicornuate uterus so it may not go that way for you 🤞🏻

I was feeling so chilled out this time round thinking it would all be plain sailing until I found out there's two in there. Now I'm bricking it!

Gt1986 · 01/11/2023 13:07

@KMM87 I can imagine- 1 is a shock for some but 2 is a mega shock!! Are they fraternal or maternal twins?

Yes I'm already thinking it won't be June, more like May but ill keep my april free too haha. I'm small in height, weight etc so I definitely am prepping for an iugr and no turning room!!

I am slightly further along now than the previous PG was before baby stopped growing which is a positive but I'm always going to be a realist and say that's just the next hurdle passed....

Are your babies in different horns? Both times mine have seemed to land on the left side.

Gt1986 · 01/11/2023 13:58

@KMM87 also, not prescribed anything, didn't take bloods today either.

Goldie1234 · 01/11/2023 13:58

@MizzMarple hope you're doing OK and this afternoon isn't too hard. Sending love x

FinallyPregnant23 · 01/11/2023 14:05

Can I join in? I'm due 5th June, this is my first pregnancy and I'm 37.

Can I ask as well - I've been having morning sickness, it was really bad Fri-Sun last week but then it's all but just disappeared. Does anyone who's had previous pregnancies know if this can be normal?

KMM87 · 01/11/2023 14:54

@Gt1986 Yay, that is a positive and a good way to look at it! Sorry I completely missed the part about your bleeding being the reason for your scan, has it all stopped now?

They are fraternal twins and both in the left horn. It was the first time I had heard the term 'horn'. It doesn't sound very nice for a heart shape does it 😂🐮

Gt1986 · 01/11/2023 14:59

@KMM87 just very very light pinky discharge so nothing to write home about.

Yeah the term horns sounds awful but BU do look like a rams skull so I get it 😂😂
