I’m the opposite, totally ravenous all day, eating all our cupboards bare 😂

Mangotango39 · 11/10/2023 11:02

@Aries89 I had a few soft markers , one being a kidney measurement.

We had a specialist appointment today and all was pretty much well. Measurements all good apart from the kidney one which is the only slight concern but they weren't overly worried. They said it's quite common (1-2% of babies) not sure if it's the same thing as yours, they described it as a bulge which they will rescan at 32 weeks .

It is super worrying when they start mentioning disabilities etc . But hopefully nothing of concern for you either xx

Mangotango39 · 11/10/2023 11:02

@User0224 same I am starving - we went for a walk and I just had to grab a cheeseburger asap haha!

Cheetocat · 11/10/2023 11:45

@Meeting My problem is that I eat a small amount and get full and then two hours later I'm starving so it's not even that I eat less, I just have to eat more at inconvenient times.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 11/10/2023 11:59

Has anyone started buying any hospital bag bits yet?
I was lying in bed lastnight and I thought I best start on next pay day as I sort of want it ready for end of December/early jan. just to be prepared 😄

Mummapenguin20 · 11/10/2023 12:56

@CheeseAndCrackersx I have everything for my bag not packed it yet but do have it all in a box ready to sort that’s my plan first week of January. Just gotta buy baby’s outfit. I have clothes pram and crib to buy that’s it. Once I’d had my first scan I started buying the things we need and sorting christmas 🙈

@Mangotango39 I’m so glad to hear your appointment went well!

It sounds similar and I think it is the most common abnormality they find. They said they have 1-2 of these scenarios a week at 20 week scans. The mention of downs did throw me a little, I think we may go for the NIPT for some reassurance.

redxlondon · 11/10/2023 15:13

Has everyone had their Covid booster? My hospital has run out so just had my flu and whooping cough today.

Cheetocat · 11/10/2023 15:15

Finally got blood taken for the NIPT today, easiest blood draw of my life, usually it's problematic because I have quite deep veins but baby has given me a whole new vascular system apparently. 😅I should get the results around Monday.

Cheetocat · 11/10/2023 16:20

The hospital I go to has given me a list of the exact things I need to bring with me for labour and then for afterwards in the ward. It's interesting and there were a few things that surprised me like sweet almond oil. It also says baby's clothes should be washed and ironed! For reference I'm from Ireland but living in Portugal.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 11/10/2023 17:09

In regards to carriers; do they cater for a woman being on the big side anyway?
I don't want to get one of those wrap ones cos they freak me out a little.
So I just want to check that cos I have a tummy anyway then obviously what will be left after having baby, I just wanna make sure that it'll fit me ok as I guess they go around my tummy too to stay secure?!

anony1111 · 11/10/2023 20:33

Is anyone getting pain in their pubic bone area?
I have been getting it for a while now but today I have done more than usual and it's been really quite painful 😫

Anyone got any tips? Praying it's not SPD! I had issues with my hips in my last pregnancy and was in agony by the end. I'm only 20 + 2 so still a long way to go!

Mangotango39 · 11/10/2023 21:22

@anony1111 me - and when I go for walks it really hurts afterwards :(

anony1111 · 11/10/2023 21:49

@Mangotango39 yes I'm having the same issue when walking too. Im sorry your suffering too 😫How many weeks are you now?
I got sent to physio last time but tbh it wasn't much help at all. Have you mentioned it to your midwife yet?

Mangotango39 · 11/10/2023 22:09

@anony1111 22w tomorrow but I'm measuring a fair bit ahead , almost a week!

I'm going to put it on my list for next time for sure. Have you spoke to yours? X

anony1111 · 11/10/2023 22:19

@Mangotango39 I think I'm going to give her a call as I don't see her again until December now. I was just reading some old threads and a lot of people recommend seeing an osteopath, might be something to consider if it gets any worse

Mangotango39 · 11/10/2023 23:01

@anony1111 oh really :/ how come you won't see her for that long?

We have appointments every 4 weeks from 16 weeks in aus , I thought uk was the same?

Cheetocat · 11/10/2023 23:29

I have appointments every month with the gp and nurse too. They were all scheduled at my first appointment when I was 6 weeks along. I also now have obstetrician appointments and I'm booked in for a 30 week ultrasound. Also going to start seeing a pregnancy nutritionist. I didn't really seek anything out because I'm brand new to it all but it's very busy, multiple visits to the clinic and hospital every month.

anony1111 · 12/10/2023 00:47

@Mangotango39 that will be my 28 week appointment, this is my second pregnancy so we aren't seen as often as in your first pregnancy but even then it's not every 4 weeks I don't think.
It's interesting how different countries do things so differently don't you think?

Ebonythoughts · 12/10/2023 06:05

Hi all, anyone has a cold/flu at any point during the pregnancy? I’m 23 weeks and after a visit to my parents I’ve come back with a headache and aching all over. I’m not sure what I can take medicine wise so will speak to the Dr or Pharmacy but I feel like it’s knocked me for six.

I’ve completely lost my appetite and just want to stay in bed all day but I’m conscious that being pregnant (and getting heavier) and feeling poorly is making me super anxious.

Any advice? Hot ginger and honey drink is all I’m doing so far.

LavenderSweetPea · 12/10/2023 07:58

@Ebonythoughts sorry you're feeling unwell :( I had COVID a few weeks ago. Paracetamol is ok in pregnancy, hopefully that'll help with the headaches and aching. You could also have a warm (not too hot) bath with some Epsom salts to help relieve aching

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/10/2023 08:26

@Ebonythoughts I had Covid too and midwife said to take paracetamol and lots of fluids, basically try to ensure no fever (with paracetamol) and keep fluids up to make sure well hydrated.

Does anyone mind sharing if they are on any medication?

Ive been prescribed sertraline, just to help me cope with the loss of Chris, the worry of another premature baby, raising the baby without a daddy etc etc.

I haven’t started it yet as I’m worried about the effects, though my GP and consultant said it’s safe.

Im concerned that as I reach 25 weeks when my daughter was born, that will ramp up my anxiety. I just don’t know which the lesser of the two evils is for baby.
Medication or my own grief and anxiety.

Hi, I work in the medical field so can offer some helpful resources for you to look at if you haven’t already re meds and taking them in pregnancy.

https://www.medicinesinpregnancy.org/

I completely understand the anxiety of not wanting to take meds during pregnancy, but most often the midwife/doctor wouldn’t suggest it if it wasn’t safe. If you’re still unsure though, speak to your local pharmacist as they should be able to advise or suggest an alternative.

Hope that’s helps! xx

Oo that’s very organised of you!! It would be helpful if anyone with experience can share what they would recommend for a hospital bag please? :)
