Thanks ladies @monsteramunch @Sagittarius25 @VanillaOat, seems we're not alone. It's the side I hold my son, and I've been trying to avoid it as he's a tall 3 year old but he's off nursery at the moment and so not sure that's helping matters. If anyone comes across a magic cure, let me know.

GemmaJen · 02/08/2023 07:59

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween I'm under consultant for low platelets, I had it with my last pregnancy too. I'd check with your midwife whether your levels will mean you can't have certain birth interventions - episiotomy, forceps, vebthouse etc... I want allowed anything with my daughter and ended up with an emergency section when she stopped progressing. I'm opting for an elective section this time as I know my options for help with a natural birth will be limited.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 02/08/2023 08:12

@GemmaJen thank you! I’ll look into that, I think they’re going to take another blood test to check for me, if that’s the case I’ll probably go for elective c section

Koalawhala · 02/08/2023 08:45

@GemmaJen and others having an elective C section, have you had a date booked in yet? I have a 28 week consultant appt next week and wondering if she’ll mention dates or if that will happen later

peonygirl · 02/08/2023 09:25

@Koalawhala I also have a consultant meeting next week at 28w and she only told me they'd want to do the c-section at 39w, they wouldn't want me to go full 40w. I know anytime after 37w baby is considered full term so I guess you can think of dates between your 37w and 39w. I would actually love to pick a specific date and will suggest that, not because I like it or anything but because it was my mum's birthday. She passed away 22 years ago and it would be such a great thing to have the little one celebrate her life.

This is such a lovely idea @peonygirl, fingers crossed you can do that Flowers

Woke up at about 5am with movements that are INSANELY strong. Still going now.

She's moved constantly since about 19 weeks (I have a posterior placenta and I think that's why) but these are supercharged and so strong they make me jump out of my skin. Has unnerved me as it's been so consistent until now and sudden changes freak me out as it's my first pregnancy.

Just called the midwife as she had said to report any massively increased or decreased movements, and she said it sounds like little one has just moved to a position where she's making a lot more contact and obviously at 29 weeks she's turning into a little hulk now!

I'm so lucky the midwife has been fantastic and not made me feel silly for any questions at any point. Would definitely encourage people to call theirs if they're worried at all as it helps so much just having someone reassure you.

Thank you girls regarding the Anti D reassurance, that has been so needed as I really have stressed about it. Got it tomorrow so will let you know how I get on! Feeling much better about the whole thing now. 🥰 Going to treat myself to a McDonald’s afterwards…why not! 🤣

Chanteuse · 02/08/2023 12:05

So I had my second growth scan yesterday and baby is still measuring absolutely massive 🫠 was hoping to discuss with my midwife today but I have a new one and she didn’t seem concerned 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I’ve been re-referred to the consultant, so hopefully she can talk me through my concerns!

Main thought process atm is ELCS vs induction, unless I naturally go early?! 😫 they’ve already said they’d probably advise me to be induced early or have a section.

@peonygirl I hope you get the date you want 💕
@monsteramunch I had a similar experience last night, bab was keeping me awake and frankly slightly alarmed squirming and kicking all over the gaff. I think he's had another growth spurt this week. 30+3 today. Woke up with a sore throat- anyone else? I'm wondering if it's a side effect of the omeprazole as it has been giving me a dry throat.

katherine123x · 02/08/2023 13:16

@Chanteuse i had my first measurement last week. Told baby is massive but no scan!! How big is yours measuring? I am slightly worried!!

katherine123x · 02/08/2023 13:19

@Chanteuse if you are happy to share of course..... 💗

LWestYorks · 02/08/2023 14:33

@katherine123x my boy is measuring big, on my 28 weeks midwife appt he was measuring 31cm (I think it goes on weeks so 28 weeks should be 28cm etc) I’m not sure though. I’m also having scans every 2 weeks for my amniotic fluid and his measurements are huge he’s on the 97th centile (that was on Monday just gone) x

katherine123x · 02/08/2023 14:35

@LWestYorks mine measured 32cm at 28 weeks but no scan after referral. I will wait until 31 appt maybe and try and push for a scan?

LWestYorks · 02/08/2023 14:41

@katherine123x when did you last have measurements done, at 20 weeks on your scan? I’ve had a few scans for some problems so he’s getting measured all the time and he is measuring big and I’m also
big 🙈this is my second, my first child is a girl and I’ve had 2 totally different pregnancies.

katherine123x · 02/08/2023 14:54

20week scan yeah and bump measured last week. Both me and hubby are tall and not small! So not a surprise to me!

Chanteuse · 02/08/2023 14:59

@katherine123x my boy is an absolute unit - above the 100th centile and measuring 2 weeks ahead 😬 are you being referred for a scan?

katherine123x · 02/08/2023 15:02

This is my growth chart! And she referred me but said chances are they wouldn't be concerned!!! I am though 😂

Chanteuse · 02/08/2023 15:15

@katherine123x that looks similar to my chart! But mine is scans only as I have an elevated bmi so I don’t get measured only growth scans

OP posts:
katherine123x · 02/08/2023 15:23

@Chanteuse ah! I think I'm going to see what they say at the 31 week appt and go from there!

monsteramunch · 02/08/2023 16:05

katherine123x · 02/08/2023 15:02

This is my growth chart! And she referred me but said chances are they wouldn't be concerned!!! I am though 😂

This looks almost identical to my 28 week one, our cross is just a teeny bit higher 😬

The midwife said that as it's our first bump measurement, not to be too concerned about the size as what matters is whether baby is still tracking as so big the next time we're measured?

I'm having a section so I'm not as concerned about her being massive as I would be if I was having a vaginal birth! But still interested to know if she really is that big.

We're both pretty slight and not especially tall so weren't expecting a little hulk but she certainly feels like one with how strong she is 😂

Onethingiwantfor23 · 02/08/2023 17:02

I've had my growth scan at 28 weeks and my baby is on the 95th percentile and off the scale for some. Has anyone who's already had a baby been told this and not gone on to have a big baby? I was a big baby (10lbs) and have been scarred by comments and jokes about it all through my childhood and into adulthood and have had a life of body dysmorphia and eating disorders (it probably wouldn't have bothered most people but it has me).
I've read that the scans are only guesses and not 100% accurate. It's taken me 3 years to get my baby via IVF and so I should be happy with whatever I have because I can't change it but this has really triggered me.

Smiffette · 02/08/2023 17:12

@katherine123x at my 28 week bump measurement I was on the 97th!! She said she wasn't concerned as second baby jumps can often be bigger.
Similar to OP as long as it tracks along the same line that's the main thing.
All my 20week scan measurements were 50th or below!

My DD was measuring on the 35th based on birth weight so I'm hoping it's just big bump, average size baby!

Koalawhala · 02/08/2023 18:32

Sorry for the loss of your Mum @peonygirl, I hope you get the date you'd like and it's definitely worth asking.

I'm having growth scans as my first DD was very small but this one is looking on the large size. Growth scan next week so will see what they say, it's a definite c section for me this time but trying not to aggregate my pelvis (which was fractured badly a couple of years ago) so could do without carrying extra weight, but we'll see!

PeopleAreToads · 02/08/2023 18:43

Opposite problem to many of you, but I wouldn't read too much into the bump measurements. Midwife measured me last week as 1st centile, sent for urgent growth scan to find baby was on the 15th. So still on the smaller side but no way near as worrying!

The midwife who reviewed my growth scan said the measurements can be all over the place depending on the midwife and the position of the baby
