I just wanted to over-share that today I managed to shave. I am very proud of myself for this achievement. That is all. 😅

Saturnsmoon · 29/07/2023 15:53

@Needtobuildabridge haha well done, that is an achievement! I on the other hand had to resort to asking my husband to cut my very long toe nails because I can no longer reach. It’s not pretty 😂

VanillaOat · 29/07/2023 16:41

Place-marking, 30 weeks today ❤️

Summer022 · 29/07/2023 16:43

@LaVitesse2022 I have my anti D this coming Thursday and haven’t been told anything about needing a blood sample in advance! I hope I don’t get there and they turn me away as I haven’t had any blood taken recently 😆

We had our 4D scan today and what a wonderful experience. Got to see baby boys face close up and it was absolutely magical. X

Midnight00 · 29/07/2023 16:46

Marking my place. 31 weeks today and feeling good at the moment! Helps that I've finished for the summer (teacher).
Getting organised and big purchases done, pram arrived! Starting to feel even more real.

Congrats @LaVitesse2022 on your wedding

Placemarking...

Loads of activity already on the new thread!

I'm 28+4, had my MW appointment last Tuesday and finally got a print out of my 20 week scan measurements as they were never uploaded to the app.

Bump was measured and is coming up on the 97th centile! She said she wasn't worried though as second baby. I was more interested in the scan measurments as a more accurate idea of size. Baby boy measured on 50th or below for all so that reassures me he's not a giant! 😂

Cammy23 · 29/07/2023 19:15

Place marking. Currently 27 weeks and gender is going to be a surprise. I can't believe how quickly this is going 😳

GemmaJen · 29/07/2023 22:36

Placemarking

Another one completely stumped with names. I feel I could nave several girls, but we can't agree on anything for a boy 🙈

DancingNancies · 29/07/2023 23:26

@GemmaJen that's how I feel...we've never even had to come up with a girl's name because we found out the sex both times first, but I feel like there are so many to choose from!

This time trying to choose a boy's name is super hard - if nothing else it's got to live up to my existing boys' names in how much I love it, or it won't be good enough for this baby!

katherine123x · 30/07/2023 10:17

Flu jab booked with boots for mid September if any of you want to have this done!

Alexandra07 · 30/07/2023 14:28

@LaVitesse2022 congratulations on your wedding!

@doeandfawn I am sorry to hear you didn't receive the care you need and deserve. I hope everything is fine with the baby.

27 weeks. Wardrobe arrives on Wednesday and we have to clear the spare room before that. At the moment is full of random stuff!

LaVitesse2022 · 30/07/2023 17:37

Thanks for the reminder @katherine123x , I've just booked mine.

Thanks everyone, I'm knackered but it was a brilliant day and wonderful to spend time with our families who all live abroad! Next time we see them I'll have a tiny baby, eeeek 😬

VanillaOat · 30/07/2023 17:51

Hey ladies hope you and your bumps are all doing well ❤️

I went up to MAU today as I felt like my little girl’s movements were a bit softer and that she was much quieter the past couple of days. They hooked me up and monitored her heartbeat and all is absolutely fine - lo and behold she started moving loads and is back to her usual self tonight!

But the reason I’m posting is because I just wanted to let everyone know how amazing they were with me - it was literally no trouble for them and they actively encouraged me to go up again in the future if I ever feel the same or notice the tiniest change. If anything, the midwife half-told me off and said I should have come up sooner, as soon as I first noticed a change in the movements.

The point I’m trying to make is if like me, you felt like you would be wasting their time or that they would be funny about you going in, it was the complete opposite experience! In fact, the unit was really quiet and there was plenty of staff on so I didn’t feel like a burden at all!

Itsokaymama · 30/07/2023 19:33

The weeks are flying by now. Hope everyone is coping okay ❤️

Placemaking - 27w tomorrow

@Chanteuse congratulations! will you tell us now what you are expecting :)? I am still trying to see if we have more girls or boys for October 😂

I have just returned from a short trip to London, it was quite sad to realize I won't be back till next Spring and it will be two of us. So much will change in such a short time. I had my dental appointment as my gums were painful (not bleeding, just continuously painful, the whole jaw really) but was told this is totally normal and all my gums/teeth are fine.

I have also ballooned by now - if I have been saying I am on a smaller side, well I am no longer. I feel the last two weeks I have grown my proper pregnancy belly. I also have weeing issues, often feel the pressure and trying to do the pelvic floor exercises because incontinence is also an issue. The baby is still quite low and pressing down.

My glucose test came back abnormal so I need to go back. No idea what the reading was and how serious it will be, I have a conversation with a dietitian booked. I am not keen on doing blood pricks daily or even worse insulin injections but what can we do...

On top of everything I am also moving places - set to move in about 3 weeks time. At least all baby gear is collected, I just need to wash the baby clothes.

@katherine123x I also booked flu jab with Boots for September.

Chanteuse · 30/07/2023 19:53

@peonygirl I’m having a little boy! 🥰 30 weeks today - everything seems to be happening so soon! I’ve got my next growth scan on Tuesday, we will see how much this big boy has grown 🫣

OP posts:
Koalawhala · 30/07/2023 19:54

@peonygirl I’m the same, bump has gone huge over the last two weeks and baby is now very low down. I feel much slower and heavier with it being so low. They can still move and come up for a while so fingers crossed that will happen!

although it is low I also feel squashed at the top and find I can’t eat much in one sitting so little and often for me now

peonygirl · 30/07/2023 19:58

@Koalawhala that's exact description how I am too! I cannot eat much in one sitting and I have to eat constantly or else I am hungry. I feel this will get worse as we grow bigger still. I am also slow like a snail - I keep telling people I might be late, I cannot walk fast at all and I am normally super fast (aka London pace :)).

PeopleAreToads · 30/07/2023 20:08

@VanillaOat glad all is okay! My experience was similar, referred for an urgent growth scan this week and think it put me on edge and felt like movements had reduced. Midwives were amazing, took me into maternity assessment and monitored and told me not hesitate to come in if I felt changes worried about baby

peonygirl · 30/07/2023 21:01

Not sure if anyone is interested but there's a group on Facebook where Scottish mums donate new or preloved items from their Baby box - the box of items Scottish government gives every new mum and her baby. I got loads of things sent to me for postage charges only so if anyone is interested, message me privately as I think you need to be invited into the group.

Alexandra07 · 30/07/2023 21:04

@VanillaOat glad everything is ok and thank you for the information!

Koalawhala · 30/07/2023 21:41

@peonygirl you’d think with it being low it would free up some space at the top, but no! Hopefully things will shift around for us a bit soon.

Sagittarius25 · 31/07/2023 09:12

Also want to echo @VanillaOat post. After a stressful weekend with family stuff (which unsure if this contributed to my perception of movements) we ended up in MAU at 11pm last night after baby tailed off to be very quiet all evening, and when I went to bed which is when he's quite usually reliable to have a party.

Once getting past the midwife on the triage line, who to be honest I felt was a bit condescending, the midwife at MAU was absolutely lovely. Did a check of me and then a Doppler check and then a 25 min trace on CTG, which baby passed with no problems. Of course he started having a party once we got to hospital!

Anyway, the midwife at the end reassured us we had done the right thing and to come in whenever I feel something has changed, she said babies are far too precious to risk anything.

Please don't feel like you would be a burden ladies and get checked if needed x

ES1986 · 31/07/2023 16:25

I had my glucose test this morning. Lots of people said the drink was disgusting, but I didn’t find it bad at all! I think it’s a sign I have a sweet tooth. 🍩

Thanks for the reminder about flu jabs @katherine123x - I’ve heard flu cases might be high this year, so I’ll get booked in.

Midnight00 · 31/07/2023 16:38

Thanks @Sagittarius25 and @VanillaOat for sharing. Reassuring that movement checks are encouraged and you both felt supported. Getting a bit more used to mine's movements and noticing a difference on whether I've had a busy or quiet day. It's a minefield!
