BeaKind · 28/09/2023 15:26

Oooh @Midnight00 good luck!! Not long to wait now 🥰

OrionNebula · 28/09/2023 15:27

@Midnight00 good luck!

@OrionNebula Keep going with the harvesting! A few weeks ago I was getting minimal amounts and now I can practically fill a syringe.

I'm 39w+5 and in the hospital being induced due to GD. It's very boring and not much happening yet!

Good luck! Sending you lots of positive thoughts Flowers

monsteramunch · 28/09/2023 17:11

Just got back from my midwife check up and looks like we're not going to be too long here either!

38 weeks in a couple of days but back pain, period pains, high blood pressure and dodgy stomach so she had a good feel around and baby girl is engaged. Bump has dropped too...

She said "I think we'll be meeting your little girl in a couple of days!"

My section isn't booked until the 9th but to be fair we're ready to go whenever so just need to get comfy and go with the flow!

NSx · 28/09/2023 17:53

@Midnight00 @OrionNebula …. When did you start with the harvesting? 🤍

Koalawhala · 28/09/2023 18:08

How exciting @Midnight00 and @monsteramunch! Good luck 💐

ES1986 · 28/09/2023 18:29

Anyone else’s bladder gone into overdrive lately? I was out for a walk at lunchtime and had to cut it short and go home as I thought I was going to wee myself! Convinced it would be the longest wee ever - and it wasn’t at all.

I’m not worried about an infection, as I bought some testing strips and it’s fine. But literally 15 minutes of walking and I’m uncomfortable. I wasn’t like this a few weeks ago 😫

Hopefulx · 28/09/2023 18:38

@OrionNebula I’m harvesting my colostrum too! I started at 36 weeks and have been doing it for about 11 days now - keep going at the start I just got a few drops and now it comes out quite easily. I find it comes out easier if I do it after a warm Bath or shower!

my midwife said the same about offering induction at 41 weeks, I will probably take a sweep then as would rather that than induction. The only thing that worries me is if Labour doesn’t come naturally and then I have to have an induction at 42 weeks! Does anyone know if emergency c section is more likely to if being induced at 42 weeks rather than 41 weeks? I wish I knew when she would come naturally so could make the right decisions 😂 if only!

Hopefulx · 28/09/2023 18:47

@NSx my midwife said to start from 36 weeks, I think some say 36 and others say 37 but either is fine xx

NSx · 28/09/2023 19:17

@Hopefulx ah right ok, I’m 36+1 don’t even know where to begin because nothing is happening, there’s nothing leaking etc 😂 and no sign of anything coming, how long did it take for it to come out?

OrionNebula · 28/09/2023 19:19

@NSx I'm 38 weeks, having c section on Monday as baby is breech. I only started this week when I found out I'd be having the section .

Hopefulx · 28/09/2023 20:15

@NSx 😂 it is quite weird at the start just squeezing your boobs.. I watched some videos on youtube whilst I was doing it but if you start squeezing in a C shape with your hands it should start to leak a bit after a few minutes. You will only get a few drops at the start and I’d day for the first week really you don’t get a lot out. Once I’d been doing it a week or started to come out more and quicker

Hopefulx · 28/09/2023 20:22

Is anyone bouncing on a pregnancy ball? Is it supposed help Labour come naturally or just get the baby in the right position?

Summer022 · 28/09/2023 20:49

Had my scan this afternoon. It’s all been an absolute blur - they told me that baby is definitely plotting less on the growth chart and called it ‘severe growth restriction’. He basically hasn’t gained any weight in two weeks. The sonographer also said that he spotted a simple cyst near baby’s kidney/abdomen. I was referred immediately to triage for a doctors review. The doctor has referred me for an MCA Doppler scan within 24 hours - I have absolutely no idea what this is or means! The midwife at the hospital was lovely but didn’t seem to know very much and couldn’t really offer any words of encouragement until the figure out what’s caused the fetal growth restriction.

Im guessing they may check placenta function, but if he’s in any danger I would rather they just give me an emergency c section and get him out so he can grow and thrive on the outside. I’m 36 weeks on the dot today. Now for a night of worry 😥

Chanteuse · 28/09/2023 21:08

@Summer022 I’ve had a Doppler scan and it was to check the function of the placenta, because I’d had multiple episodes of RFM. Hope you’re okay!

@Summer022 feeling for you ... 💐 I'm sure everything will be fine!!

I would say try not to worry but we all would!!

Thinking of you x

Sagittarius25 · 28/09/2023 21:20

@Summer022 I've had Doppler scans too, it's a normal ultrasound but they check blood flow in cord. Really hope everything is ok - remember you are in the best hands xx

peonygirl · 28/09/2023 21:21

@Summer022 I have had regular Doppler scans since week 28 and my next one is on Tuesday. It is a color-imagining scan of the flow of blood through the umbilical cord and placenta to the baby. I believe your Doppler will look into the flow of oxygen to the baby's brain. I would however take the growth scan with a bit of caution because we see all the time that scans in later pregnancy don't predict the size/weight of the babies correctly. Many gestational diabetes mums deliver babies at 36w/37w because babies measure too big or too small yet they then get a 7lb or 8lb baby, healthy and thriving. I know your night will not be easy but keeping my fingers crossed all will be well tomorrow.

Summer022 · 28/09/2023 21:22

Thank you ladies. I hope they can figure out what’s going on tomorrow. So anxious about this cyst they have found near his kidney too. The midwife told me to not worry as they aren’t uncommon in boys - though not worrying is definitely easier said than done xxx

OrionNebula · 28/09/2023 22:00

Thinking of you @Summer022 , hope they get to the bottom of it and all ok.

Esl17 · 28/09/2023 22:36

@Summer022 sorry to hear this I know you have had a fairly anxious pregnancy so far with taking a while to feel movement, I think you originally had the low lying placenta like me too. I know it’s easier said than done to try not to worry and you’ll be in for a rough night but I truly think if they thought the baby was in any immediate danger they wouldn’t have let you go home and would have found you a bed on the antenatal ward so maybe try and take some comfort from that xxx

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 28/09/2023 22:46

@Summer022 will be thinking of you! I think all of this stuff always sounds scarier than the reality probably is because it’s out of our control and language we’re not used to-but hopefully your little one will be absolutely fine. My husband had a cyst when he was born and it went away of its own accord apparently! How are you feeling about the potential of a c section?

Notices tonight that I’m getting colostrum droplets-do the midwives provide syringes for collection or is that something I should order? I have my 38 week apt Monday but don’t want to waste any liquid gold by waiting if they’re just going to say i need to order some online!

PrimarilyParented · 29/09/2023 05:20

Well they weren’t Braxton hicks!

My little boy arrived last night by c-section (as planned) after I went into Labour 3 weeks earlier than his due date.

He weighed 8lb3oz so they were right about him being a big baby and we’re absolutely smitten with him.

Koalawhala · 29/09/2023 06:33

Wow that’s amazing @PrimarilyParented! Congratulations, I hope you’re all doing well 💐

Thinking of you @Summer022, hope you managed to get some rest and have more answers today
