@NSx yes mine does, at 28 weeks I was at about 60th percentile weighing 1600g

doeandfawn · 21/08/2023 21:41

@NSx my GROW chart on badger notes has weight on the right hand side

NSx · 22/08/2023 11:07

@Sagittarius25 @doeandfawn mine doesn’t say this - I’m seeing my midwife on Friday I will bring this up.

thecatsthecats · 22/08/2023 12:37

@doeandfawn

That makes a huge amount of sense! I was signed off with stress and anxiety a couple of years back, and the past few nights I've had insomnia.

When I wake up in the night feeling bolt upright panicked, it's like my body has gone "are we doing a panic attack now" - even though the big and general symptoms and causes aren't there. I get especially stressed about lumping my stupid body around the bed, as I feel "trapped" under the bump sometimes, and don't like feeling trapped in uncomfortable positions.

Sav96 · 22/08/2023 15:18

Has anyone had any issues with midwives not measuring your bumps correctly? Every time my midwife measures my bump she says ‘is that your pubic bone?’ Then writes the measurement down quicker than I can say no. Every time she is missing around 3cm off the bone. I wouldn’t mind but with the measurements she’s getting I’m on the 90th percentile so I know for a fact I’m on or over the 97th percentile. I’m not sure wether she’s doing it purposely as she doesn’t want to send me for a growth scan as she has to refer me to a different hospital than the one she works for as I’ve opted for a different location for birth and it’s abit of a carry on for her?

She’s also missed out writing down my measurement at my last appointment on the chart which is quite suspicious. My bump is very big for my frame too.

don’t know wether I’m being paranoid but it seems a little suspicious as it’s happened every time!

Smiffette · 22/08/2023 16:45

@Sav96 I've only had one measurement so far at 28 weeks. Then my next appointment is at 34 so I'm really interested to see where I'm tracking as I feel like my bump has got huge the last couple weeks.

I think I get seen slightly less as second baby as I'm sure I had another appointment at this point

doeandfawn · 22/08/2023 16:51

@thecatsthecats I’m the same, the therapist saying that made me relax quite a bit!

thecatsthecats · 22/08/2023 17:19

It's a very annoying recall, but at least I can tell my brain "nothing is happening you pillock".

Unfortunately, once I've woken up, I'm still too warm, can't turn over comfortably and need to pee!

Hopefulx · 23/08/2023 08:53

Hi Ladies! a bit late to the thread - I’ve missed the new one for the last few weeks!

has anyone thought about or bought what the baby will sleep in when they are born? I’ve been looking at the gro bags but wasn’t sure on what tog to get. Sometimes October is freezing and other years it’s been fairly warm! I was thinking of getting 2.5tog. Has anyone got any advice or know what they will use for sleeping yet? xx

Has anyone started their hospital bag yet? I’m 32 weeks so seems early but thinking of starting it in the next few weeks x

Sagittarius25 · 23/08/2023 09:09

@Hopefulx we are going to use the love to dream swaddles until he can roll, then switching to the togged sleep bags. We have bought the swaddles in moderate temp based on what the room temp is likely to be, and can always supplement with blanket under arms or dressed in less layers within the swaddle if needed. 😊

Smiffette · 23/08/2023 09:23

@Hopefulx my new change bag just arrived yesterday and I can't wait to pack it! I am 32+1 so trying to hold off for a couple of weeks. I haven't bought his going home outfit yet.... I like to buy a nice new babygro for the first one!

As for sleeping, my DD didn't like being swaddled and it was summer and very hot so she just had a light blanket over her and was either in a vest / babygro / just nappy when it was really hot.

I probably won't use swaddles again, and just keep him wrapped up warm and with a blanket until about 3 months when I started using sleeping bags last time as they worked well and I have lots of them in varying size and tog from last time

doeandfawn · 21/08/2023 20:53

I asked about the heightened anxiety in third trimester at my last therapy appointment and they said with the reduced lung capacity and breathlessness you can feel more anxious because you’re experiencing what can be understood by the brain as panic attack symptoms.

Thank you for bringing this up @doeandfawn, was really important for me to read!

thecatsthecats · 23/08/2023 10:13

I'm getting all the boring buys out of the way at the moment, so am just piling hospital bag stuff in the over door storage.

The longer I leave it, the more stuff gets handed on to me from other mums, so I'm holding off on a few things!

NSx · 23/08/2023 10:15

@Hopefulx yes I bought the tommee tippee swaddle bags 2.5 tog 🥰

Summer022 · 23/08/2023 11:18

@NSx @Hopefulx i got those too! 2.5tog x

peonygirl · 23/08/2023 13:39

I am glad we are talking about this as I have also been experiencing higher levels of anxiety. Mainly because of the needle phobia and how many needles I will need to face in the future. With GD diagnosis this just topped over and I struggled to handle it. I was directed to educational midwife who took upon herself to speak to me every week from September on and I have been referred to local NHS support to equip me with tactics and tips on how to have this under control once my c-section approaches. I was pleasantly surprised they took is so seriously and acted swiftly.

kingfisher168 · 23/08/2023 13:44

I bought the Halo swaddle, which can be used from birth as either a swaddle or with arms out, heard so many good things about it. It's only 1 tog so can just put on extra clothes underneath if colder and then buy a 2.5 if it gets colder (which I assume it will!).

Hopefulx · 23/08/2023 17:57

Thanks everyone about the sleeping!! Seems a mixed bag which I thought would be the case 🥰 think I’ll go for the sleeping bags maybe get a few different togs!

Sav96 · 23/08/2023 21:00

@Hopefulx

I’ll be 33 weeks on Saturday, I’ve packed both mine and the baby’s hospital bag this week so we are good to go! I will admit I’ve done everything pretty early but it’s more because I’m off work for another 2 weeks (Teacher) and then I have to go back to work for 2 before maternity leave so want everything done before so I can relax 🙈 xx

Chanteuse · 23/08/2023 22:15

@Sav96 I’m a teacher too and I’m gonna do my bag just before we go back! Also back for two weeks before mat leave, then those last few weeks can just be nesting and chilling!

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween I got slightly low platelets. There was a note to do the test again. Midwife wasn't concerned and said that eating beetroot 3 times per week should help. Mine was 149 and the lower limit was 150 (million I think).

@Hopefulx there is a high chance that a sleeping bag will be too big for a newborn. Their head shouldn't be able to go through the neck opening if that makes sense. We tried to use a blanket swaddle last time until DD was big enough to fit in a sleeping bag(and she was born 3.6 kg!) . It didn't work well so this time I bought the love to dream swadle to try before she is big enough for a sleeping bag. I was keeping room temperature 18 degrees and used 2.5 tog, but she was born in November and I am due 28/10 when it should be cooler.

ttcttc · 24/08/2023 08:06

Is anyone depressed about how fat they're getting ? I don't mean bump. I am expanding everywhere! I'm conscious how big my arms and legs are getting and yet can't stop bloody eating!!!

doeandfawn · 24/08/2023 08:42

@ttcttc my face is really bothering me yes! My skin is also the worst texture it’s ever been so I feel like makeup just makes it worse. At least it’s a normal part of pregnancy and will (hopefully) go away after.

Chanteuse · 24/08/2023 11:01

@doeandfawn my skin is DREADFUL. So spotty and textured! I usually have quite clear skin so think they’re hormonal!

OP posts:
Smiffette · 24/08/2023 11:38

@ttcttc I felt like that with my first pregnancy (DD) and I did a side by side pic with this pregnancy (DS) and I definitely put in more weight everywhere with DD!

But be reassured it did all come off after!
