@BCxx My rule is, if you would touch my tummy before I was pregnant (e.g. a medical professional or DH), then fine. If not, why touch it now, without permission? My father-in-law is the worst culprit. I think the gender comment was a joke from the consultant - if he'd seen something to contradict what I thought, he should have been clearer. That's interesting re. the abdomen measurement, that's been quite consistent for us. DH has slightly short femurs, so hoping baby has just inherited those.

@HRSC Thank you. Though I don't have a toddler (right now quite glad of the fact as I don't know how I'd chase after them with my pelvic pain 😂😭)

@unluckyinlife Glad that resting did the trick for you. Must be so hard not knowing your due date - not that they are set in stone anyway, of course. Definitely a good idea to get that hospital bag packed. Next appointment is 17th July. Just trying to stay positive and take it one day at a time. Hope your little one holds off till after the 22nd!

@DesertSnow so sorry that you are still having worries.
But positive news that they are likely to let you go full term 🥰

We were given our c-section date yesterday - 17th August. We were absolutely over the moon because my DH, step son and I all have our birthdays on the 17th (different months though).
Just sorted out my maternity leave with work this morning, so it it all starting to feel very real now 😬

BCxx · 07/07/2023 16:28

@MinnieFirstTimeMum aw how exciting that you have your date! Is that 39+1 for you? It makes it feel way more real I think when you actually know when it’s happening! I’m totally into the birthday dates thing too 😂

HRSC · 07/07/2023 17:10

@DesertSnow oops so sorry, I must have confused you with someone else! 🤦‍♀️
completely relate with you about pelvic pain. I’m also suffering with that and it’s awful. Someone suggested The Pelvic Partnership to me - they have lots of recommended physios, osteopaths and chiropractors that will treat you in pregnancy. I’ve been going to reflexology which has helped a bit as can’t find a physio or other to see me unfortunately.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 07/07/2023 17:25

@BCxx I will be 39+4 so really hoping he stays in that long, otherwise I will have to clench really hard 😂😂😂

But definitely feels more real having a date.

Also health visitor has called today wanting to come over next week so I'm now in a panic over that. My dachshund is not the best with strangers 🤦🏻‍♀️

Can't believe how close we are all getting now (and that some of us have already had our little ones)

BCxx · 07/07/2023 18:06

@MinnieFirstTimeMum that’s what they gave me last time.. baby did stay in although every hour felt like a relief to have made it by the last few days 😂 I’m hoping they might give me a day or two earlier this time!

Hopefully you get a nice one 😊 they’re really helpful if they’re nice! Mine loves dogs and I just shut him away when they come in. I’m sure itl be fine

lemonworld · 07/07/2023 18:27

I’ve been lurking on and off here for a while. Wishing you all the best of luck as we get closer! I’m 37 weeks today and just finished up work, hurrah! After months of house buying limbo we’re finally completing… in two weeks 🫣 It never rains but it pours…

airmaxJ · 08/07/2023 10:14

@lemonworld hi there how are you doing? I'm 37 weeks today also do you know what you are having?

DesertSnow · 08/07/2023 17:27

Another one in the 37 weeks club. So relieved to have made it this far - the last 9 weeks thinking we might have quite a premature baby have been tough.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum Congrats on getting your date! And how lovely that it has personal significance for you.

@HRSC no worries 😊There's lots of us on here, we're bound to get mixed up! Thanks for the link to the Pelvic Partnership. My support belt is helping a little, but walking is just agony. Which is annoying as I know walking is one of the things they suggest if you want to bring on labour, and I really want to avoid the c-section they've booked in for me if possible.

@lemonworld very busy time for you! Hope all goes well with the move.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum don't worry about hv! They just come for a chat! Our cat attacked ours so it was a bit awkward 🤣
But I just put him in the kitchen and she never mentioned it again 😂
Our new hv looks forward to seeing the dog more than anything though! She always ends up with a fat lab on her lap lol!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/07/2023 17:48

@sally16 that is good to hear about the health visitor. My dachshund has a habit of weeing on the feet of new people he meets so hoping she also likes dogs 😂 but if I lock him in a room he sounds a like a Rottweiler trying to get out haha

sally16 · 08/07/2023 17:50

Someone talk to me about braxton hicks

Everywhere says they aren't sore and just tight. But I keep getting what I think are BH and it's sore!!! Not regular ofcourse or I'd have phoned but last night I was starting to think of timing then it was that uncomfortable!

Anyone else had sore ones? Last pregnancy I didn't have any, and induction failed but the 'contractions' I did feel were just more down below so I don't have anything to compare 😵‍💫

sally16 · 08/07/2023 17:51

@MinnieFirstTimeMum that's so funny 🤣 our lab wee's on people on the beach if they are sitting down, gotta chase him away from people or keep him on the lead 😂

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/07/2023 17:53

@sally16 dogs are funny aren't they 😂

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/07/2023 18:19

@sally16 no personal experience of braxton hicks. But I asked my MW what to expect and she said mild period pains.

Rowanandremy · 08/07/2023 18:48

Sorry for not being on again, I’ve been so exhausted that I’ve actually needed naps and then I wake up feeling like my head is stuffed with cotton wool.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum congrats on getting your date! We keep hoping for a specific date in august that will match mine, dd matches dw (all different months) so it’d be nice.

Im 36 weeks tomorrow and feeling like I’m struggling a bit, everyone around me keeps saying that he’s dropped low and I won’t have long to go. I’ve had a bit of pubic bone tenderness today so think his head is engaging fully, I just want to get to 37 weeks and I’ll be happy. Dw wants anytime after the 23rd because she wants a little Leo.
I was supposed to be having a growth scan because I’m measuring 4weeks ahead but when I chased the hospital up for the appointment I was told that they aren’t going to give a scan because they don’t for potentially big babies - so if I’ve got a whopper then so be it apparently 😂

Recoba · 08/07/2023 20:47

@sally16 I've been having BH for over a month now. For me, before baby went head down, BH felt painless and just like a tightening around my abdomen. Sort of like if you were wearing a waistband that was progressively getting tighter and tighter, if that makes sense?

Since baby went head down, they've got more painful, mostly because baby's head is now in the way of the contracting muscles (I think?), so I get a pain in my pelvis as well as the tightening.

Feels quite different to period pains for me, and from memory labour felt like a cross between both of them.

@DesertSnow really pleased you've got this far! Hope everything continues well.

I've got lots of pelvis and cervix discomfort from baby going head down, but also really enjoying being able to eat and breathe normally, and not feeling sick all the time. So swings and roundabouts, as with most pregnancy related symptoms!

sally16 · 08/07/2023 21:05

@Recoba that sounds like what I'm having too! It took my breath away last night when I was driving. Was starting to panic but thankfully it's not been regular 😅

CityKity · 08/07/2023 21:13

Hi Ladies, also jumping on the 37 week discomfort train! I had my last scan last week and baby is head down (as it has been ever since the midwife started checking) but not engaged.
I keep swinging from being able to walk for hours and hours (yesterday), to finding it uncomfortable walking down the road (today) the babies head feels so low sometimes and its just pressing on my bladder I think.
I don’t think I’ve had any Braxton Hicks at all so am a bit scared of the unknown when it comes to the real deal.
Also feeling all the emotions this weekend. Starting to feel a bit sad that soon the bump will gone and that this whole chapter of pregnancy will be over, is that crazy? A friend told me she was pregnant today, and I was almost jealous that it’s all ahead of her!
The other thing I’m feeling is oodles of mum guilt already. I’m just so sad that this flat is not where we wanted to be with a new baby and unlike other friends we don’t have a kitted out / Instagram worthy nursery. This baby is going to be SO loved but it’s so hard not to feel like a let down already. I know I know, babies need barely anything but the comparison trap is such a tricky one to not fall into, especially when looking around at my peer group we seem to be the odd ones out. I feel like me and DH have tried to do everything right, worked our buts off in good jobs, save and don’t splurge, but we seemed to have timed the housing ladder terribly and it just really gets me down. Especially the thought of people coming to visit us and the new baby in this flat, I’m honestly just so embarrassed by the idea of people coming over and feel like they’ll judge us and our living situation 😓. I hate that this is getting me down when I should just be excited to meet the baby.

sommeliermama · 08/07/2023 21:15

@Rowanandremy I'm with you on feeling exhausted! Feels like first trimester tiredness but even worse cause I'm heavy now. I had to have 2 naps today and still felt wrecked

overwork · 08/07/2023 21:29

I've also slept twice today, spent all day yesterday having a good sort out and clean (as someone else said on an earlier thread, because baby will definitely arrive home and check I've hoovered the top of the door frames) and seems to have wiped me out today.
I'm also having a serious problem with facial sweating! You've never seen anything like it, I can be sat still and it just starts pouring down my face. Apparently it's fairly common but I don't know anyone else who has mentioned it. I sincerely hope it disappears post pregnancy!

ChloeN · 08/07/2023 21:42

@lemonworld we’re also completing on our house in just over a week, if it goes through, it’s already been pushed back!🤣 have you got much of a move? We’re lucky it’s only over the road for us but it’s been such an effort clearing out the house😵‍💫 didn’t realise I had so much crap

@CityKity I’ve not got a nursery at all so I really wouldn’t worry! We’re moving from a 3 bedroom house to a static caravan while our new house is being built so it’s a downsize but I just think the baby will never even remember so it really doesn’t matter! It’s hard though if it’s not what you imagined for bringing your baby home and people definitely do make negative comments which is annoying🤦🏻‍♀️ I said this to the midwife and she said honestly even having anywhere to live is much better than lots of peoples living situations with babies so that did help me feel a bit better!

Rowanandremy · 08/07/2023 22:01

@DesertSnow I’m so sorry I thought I’d put in my earlier message that I am so pleased you’ve got this far and I really hope it’s smooth sailing from here on out for you.

@sommeliermama it really is! I didn’t nap as much back then, mostly from stubbornness I think, but now I’ve really no choice as I’m falling asleep wherever I’m sitting 😂 I’m finding laying down quite uncomfortable because my bump seems massive and none of the pregnancy pillows have ever done a thing for me other than irritate me but even that isn’t stopping
me from conking out the second my head hits my pillow.

@CityKity I completely get what you are saying and how you feel about your living situation - when we had dd we were not where we wanted to be either and felt embarrassed by bringing her home into something that was less than ideal. Ironically she did have a nursery we were proud of whereas baby boy doesn’t have one at all, he literally has a small cot in an alcove and then he’s going into DD’s room once he’s sleeping through - so again not ideal but we do love this house and that makes all the difference on mindset. It can be incredibly difficult when you want things to be different but for one reason or another it hasn’t happened and it’s completely normal to be upset about it, just try not to be too hard on yourselves because this won’t be forever and I promise you that your baby won’t care in the slightest about their accommodations as long as you are with them. Dd doesn’t even remember the nursery we were so proud of, just like this baby won’t remember his alcove or having to share a very pink bedroom 😂

EsmeSusanOgg · 08/07/2023 22:13

I have been feeling sick an hour or two after every meal since Thursday evening.

In the night I have had agonising heartburn and then needed to violently thriw up food and then bilebevery evening since.

Baby is super, super low in my pelvis. I should go to the assesment unit tomorrow?

airmaxJ · 08/07/2023 22:38

@EsmeSusanOgg how far along are you? Are you using rennies or gaviscon at all ? That sounds not nice maybe you should tell your midwife, I've had it a few times the last few weeks if I don't eat very simple things
