Here is promised thread jessi! Congratulations too Ellasmum and jessi - Ellasmum, my due date will be about 20th July I think. Haven't seen any midwife or doctor yet - trying to remember what I did when last time!

Dahlia, snap! just had my hair done too, but plan to squeeze in one more roots session before d-day. Also planning manicure and pedicure,I seem to recall spending a considerable amount of time looking at my toes during last labour so am determined to have nice pretty pink ones this time and there is no way I can reach to do them!

AliP · 23/05/2003 15:04

hi - I've just finished work - first day of mat leave and so far been swimming in outdoor pool at local gym such decadence! edd is just under 3 weeks.

Kaz33 you made me feel better saying you had not packed your bag yet, i am getting grief as less than three weeks to go and not packed!

I'm just about to book pedicure and manicure - sure its a waste of time but thought of bending over to paint my toe nails is too much and only comfy shoes are flip flops! Ankles are currently the same size as my calves!!

motherinferior · 23/05/2003 15:22

Can I recommend eyelash tinting for the ultimate sense of decadence?

Don't have a dh but got dp to do it - not very well, but it was very kind of him.

Dahlia, thanks for the body butter recommendation. One - but only one - of the Boots creams seems to do the trick as well. Skin on my belly is positively red and flaky if left alone - it's the only place where I've really expanded this time, but in consequence it is taking considerable bashing.

Dahlia · 23/05/2003 17:13

Is eyelash tinting worth doing? I don't have very long lashes so I like to wear mascara but I do fancy the idea of not having to bother wearing any.

happyspider · 23/05/2003 21:00

last day today!
Feel really tired as I had things to finish before I left, but I feel so R-E-L-I-E-V-E-D!

I have a few days now for hairdresser, waxing, manicure and pedicure.
DH would maybe oblige to paint my toe nails after a bit of nagging, but I just love the feeling of going to a pedicurist and being pampered ( I will get a deluxe pedicure!)

I was even thinking to get one of this fake tans, so I don't look too crap in my post-partum pictures.... and a tan makes you look slimmer instantly or doesn't it??

kaz33 · 23/05/2003 21:04

AliP - I know I should pack my bags but I'm not ready yet. I still have some decorating to do and some more films to see.

Just had a new sofa delivered today - so much more comfy than our old one. Lying here, watching the golf while DP massages my feet while DS sleeps soundly having gone to sleep with huge smile on face. Days like these are just pure heaven.

I know its sickening but I am blooming - I keep looking at myself in the mirror and I look so healthy. Sorry, to rub it in ladies but if its any consolation I had a nightmare birth last time and long recovery time - so am bricking it about the birth.

kaz33 · 23/05/2003 21:05

Happyspider - welcome to being a lady of leisure. Enjoy.

Fake tan sounds good - go for it !

Kaz33, you're not the only one bricking it!! I have started the labour nightmares in earnest now, keep waking up in cold sweat imagining having a section with no pain relief etc etc. As for blooming, make the most of it!! I feel really good too and totally mellow and floaty and my body is a wondrous miracle kind of feeling - apart from 5am when I can't sleep. Have just watched S-Club's last live appearance on tv and sobbed my heart so hormones are raging nicely!!

happyspider · 24/05/2003 16:39

feeling a bit blue today, don't know why... it must be downing on me that in a few days I will be responsible for a human life :-&
Maybe it's just the weather and the fact we cannot go away on a bank holiday.

Sorry about the moan, I know I should be feeling very positive and happy as I have now the time to enjoy and relax these last few days, but feel completely shattered and just want to be in bed all day.

kaz33 · 24/05/2003 20:30

Dahlia - tried to pack my hospital bag this afternoon. Stood there in my bedroom trying to think what I should take with me, felt totally helpless and started to have a panic attack. I mean what is the point of taking nice toiletries when I probably will have a nightmare again. Aaaargh.... And how many nappies should I take ?

I mean I could go to bed this evening and go into labour or maybe during the Eurovision song contest. Last night DP suggested we have a curry - thats what started me last time so I'm staying away from the curry for the moment.

Happyspider - its no surprise you are feeling low. As you rightly say you are taking on a huge undertaking and have no idea what its going to be like. I know its hard but try and keep your body and mind active and don't dwell on things that you can no longer control. You'll be fine - try and relax.

MaVictoria · 25/05/2003 12:13

I am just getting into the nesting thing. I have a new sofa coming soon, new carpet, just got a dining room suite delievered, got most things i need now, just got the bedroom to prepare, baby is going in with me for a short time, everyone is excited, i have 5 weeks left. I hope i dont have baby before because i am still getting organised. I would like to enjoy last couple of weeks relaxing and enjoying time i have left, plus the week babe is due, my older two kids are going away with dad on holiday so i will just have one to contend with. Might take him somewhere for a couple of days even if i am due. I am not worried about anything really, its like shelling peas. lol. As for the hospital bag not being packed, well, i maybe do it next week,(36 wks) i didnt do it till i was in labour last time i was expecting. my sis and dp packed it, it was only a little one, not alot in it, couple of nappies and sleepsuit and my toiletries. I was out after a couple of hours really so maybe i have just talked myself out of packing it until i go into labour again.lol. so for the waffling, hee hee! have a great bank holiday everyone, I am feeling great!!!!!!35+1

motherinferior · 25/05/2003 20:16

Dahlia - personally I'd go for the tinting. I am hopeless with mascara and smear it everywhere; lash tinting also feels utterly unnecessary, which is the really decadent bit...

I really need to get some more babyclothes, and prevail on dp to work through the 'list of things to do' I painstakingly drew up the other day. Looks like my 'day off' on 5 June will be spent shopping. The reason I am taking the day off is it's my 40th birthday. How many things, I ask myself, are wrong with this picture??

Dahlia · 25/05/2003 20:26

Right MotherInferior, I am going to make an appointment this week. Kaz33, my bag is about 4 feet long a 2 feet wide, I think maybe I have packed too much! But I can't think straight and I can't calculate things like nappies, sanitary towels, etc etc, as I don't know how long I will be in. I have packed 2 nighties and 2 small towels and they take up loads of space, then I have bunged in my new fluffy slippers, a book, makeup so I don't look shite when inundated with visitors, choccy and sweets for dh, tapes, god knows what else, it weighs a ton. Oh and a little pressie for dd which I want to give her when dh brings her to visit. I just hope dh doesn't put his back out trying to carry it.

kaz33 · 26/05/2003 12:40

Dahlia / MaVictoria - glad to know that I'm not the only one feeling great and I'm not as chunky as I was last time. Hurrah, maybe the weight will fall off.

Just took DS to the park - lovely sunny day and DS was in great form. Fab.

Think I need to have another go and packing my hospital bag - if I over pack then I probably won't need any of it. Thats the plan.

Happyspider - are you feeling any better ?

Hi Lis,

We are expecting our first little girl and I'm due 14/7. Hope your well and enjoying your pregnancy. I cannot believe it is only SEVEN weeks away!!

happyspider · 26/05/2003 18:38

Kaz33
thanks for your support, guess I was very tired on Saturday, got very special massage and present from dh and plenty of rest, so I am feeling a lot better now.
We went for a nice walk yesterday in the countryside and stopped for a meal at a pub at lunch time and got a takeaway for dinner, so we did not have to cook and wash up and it felt like heaven.

My bag is ready, I believe, guess I have packed too much stuff for the baby, but I am already addicted to shopping in Mothercare and baby Gap...
Not sure about the size for the nappies, so I have bought 2 different sizes...

PS looking forward to meeting my little one now, who's due in only a week time!!!

happyspider · 26/05/2003 18:40

Lisita and FirstBump welcome to mumsent!
You still have some time to go, but it will go very quickly, it has for me....

kaz33 · 26/05/2003 21:35

Welcome Lisita and Firstbump.

Even though I have clothes from DS I have gone into babygap and bought some newborn clothes - they were too gorgeous to resist. Gosh Happyspider, didn't realise you were due so soon - is that due a week on Monday then ?

KMS · 26/05/2003 22:13

Hi all, not been on for some time (boy did I have some catching up to do!) now 32 wks (due 20 july) this is 3rd pg. I used TENS last time in hospital and walked around for 2hrs. then asked to be examined and told i was 10cm and should get down stairs to deliver! I think it makes a big difference if your waters have gone. mine were still intacked and only thing holding baby in! 1st baby was induced and only took 5.5hrs but much more pain as waters were broken. DO trust your body and don't fight it. relax and let it do what it needs to! Good luck to you iminant lot. Let us know how it goes. Also am fed up with people looking at bump and saying "not long now then" YES 8 wks, they look suprised and I feel large!

whymummy · 26/05/2003 22:15

hola lisita welcome to mumsnet,i`m sure you know me
