I dont know what planet i am on since being pregnant with this one! lol..I came on mumsnet to share experience and tips and pick up same from other mums. I read through a few threads, put a few points on, and off i went. Came back today, started a new thread on this same topic under childbirth...i have only just read the threads you wrote to me HAPPYSPIDER lol. sorry about this, I really have the BIMBO FEVER!!

happyspider · 18/05/2003 19:34

Got a couple of skirts which I can do up, just as well as I finish work this week and need to be presentable at least at my farewell drinks at work.

MaVictoria, join the club, not long to go now so we may well enjoy everybody's understanding for a little longer... but, apparently, you can blame your mishaps on sleep deprivation after the baby is born too ;-)

Dahlia · 18/05/2003 20:31

Hi everybody, glad I am not alone suffering with sleep deprivation. I have also built up an immunity to gaviscon, and have only one pair of shoes I can wear due to elephant woman ankles. And still 5 weeks of this to go! Mavictoria, god knows how you cope with 3 and being a single mum - hats off to you!

Bron - its great, I've had a week as a lady of leisure and feel so fab. Loads of energy and really looking forward to meeting my little man ( but just not quite yet I've got a bit more relaxing to do ).

motherinferior · 19/05/2003 08:31

I am soooooo jealous; am trying to keep going for next 5/6 weeks in jaded freelance manner but am finding it really difficult, even though I don't have to commute. And I'd find it (possibly) easier to sleep (or at least to get back to sleep)if sodding DP didn't SNORE!!!!

kaz33 · 19/05/2003 08:39

Is that right up to you due date motherinferior ? I was going to work up to two weeks before mine, but in the end had to give up a week early as I was scunnered...

Sympathise on the snoring - I wear ear plugs when DP gets going. Also as I am pregnant I reserve the right to kick ( sorry gently nudge him ). Apparentely , he says, that I snore too - but i find this hard to believe !!

musica · 19/05/2003 09:08

I'm due about the middle of July, and am working part time up till 39 weeks - it feels a LONG time away!

OP posts:
motherinferior · 19/05/2003 09:23

I'm due in the second week of July, although I suspect/hope it'll arrive in the first week (dd was 2 days early). So what I'm planning - ha! - at this stage is to stagger on till end/June if possible, although suspect it will be seriously part-time by that stage. Trouble is that as a freelancer I don't get maternity pay, so have to fund my time off myself. On the other hand, I like my work so much more these days!

I have been told I snore, but consider this quite irrelevant. Try bellowing at him, loudly?

jessi · 19/05/2003 13:13

Pregnancy brain is getting to me, just posted this on the other thread too! anyway, all these chats about 2-3 hour second labours have obviously gone into my subconcious. I had my first real pregnancy dream last night.. dreamt I had a really easy 2 hour labour in a couchette (sp?) on a train. Midwife was having a chat in the corridoor outside with someone. I just poked my head round once the head was out..!All very calm, didn't hurt too much and was on a train which would of course make my 3 yr old ds very happy!

jessi · 19/05/2003 13:14

PS My dh snores too, last night was particularly bad. Woken up by ds at 6am demanding a tissue, return to bed to dh snoring again... arghhh!Sure there is a consipiracy to prevent me sleeping going on.

colette · 19/05/2003 13:53

I am also sleep deprived ( but luckily have finished work- saved holiday) Last night dd wet the bed twice midnight and 4pm!! I'd only just got back to sleep as I was having a really restless night myself. Don't know how I'll cope with night feeds!

kaz33 · 19/05/2003 16:51

Just got my haircut this morning, good natter with my hairdresser, lunch with my mum and this afternoon went to ante natal appointment. Everything fine, baby lying in good position and engaged ( ready for lift off ) - get back in there, I'm not ready yet....

happyspider · 19/05/2003 20:33

my baby has already dropped and head is engaged too since last week...first baby for me: does it mean he'll be early?

I am still working and have just invested in more maternity wear, doesn't sound fair to me...

champs · 19/05/2003 23:13

Hi all, sorry for the long time away!! I've been back in hosp. BUt am fine now. Am too finding it hard to sleep. Found a solution to buying trousers/skirts. tis called belly belt kit. 3 different sized elastic strips and material "pads" i white, black amd blue. It means that you can wear button up clothes for longer!! It costs about 12.99 and I think it's worth it as you can save money on more clothes.
I had another scan today but have to go back in 2 wks!! Will be 30wks. Oh how time flies but drags at the same time!! well gonna go now and speak to you all soon.
Champs xxx

kaz33 · 20/05/2003 08:57

Happyspider - just because you are engaged it does not mean that the baby is going to be early. Although, of course they may be. I think the accepted folklore is that first babies are normally late.

When are you off work ?

Dahlia · 20/05/2003 11:38

My dh snores too! He sounds like a cat being strangled and then thrown under a train.
I have no stretch marks yet! Got loads last time, but have been slapping fabulous body butter on every day and it seems to be working.

motherinferior · 20/05/2003 12:23

would fabulous body butter also solve the sahara-like dryness currently afflicting my arms, legs and tummy - for which absolutely nothing seems to work? I look like a bloated alligator. Tres sexy.

happyspider · 20/05/2003 22:34

Apparently I have started snoring, this according to DH.
Guess it's his revenge for all the times I have teased him about his nightly unvoluntary hobby!

3 days to go and I finish work!!!!

Countdown has started, I will then join the club of women of leisure and will put my feet up...
can't wait!

Mum2Toby · 20/05/2003 22:38

Women of Leisure??? Are there any here..... they kept that a secret!

Good luck Happyspider. I left work with 4 and half weeks to go, ended up in hospital after a week coz i got bored, decided to paint the garden fence and my BP shot through the roof! How stupid was I?? Then ds was born a week early!

Anyway - you make sure you do take it very easy and enjoy your rest. Baby will be here before you know it. I can still remember the unbearable excitement. Good luck again!

kaz33 · 21/05/2003 21:38

Well I was, temporarily before DS2 arrives, but the nanny is sick so I'm having to look after DS1. How typical is that, not suprising really as obviously she knows she no longer has a job with us from the end of June !!!

BUT, looking after DS1 ( even pregnant ) sure beats working - maybe I can do this SAHM thing.

PS: I have two friends that have just told me although they are not trying for a baby they are not seeking to prevent it. Strange logic - after all I assume they are having sex.

motherinferior · 22/05/2003 09:20

I think you should warn your friends that similar 'constructive carelessness' on my part three years ago got me up the duff INSTANTLY, and I was reeling in shock all the way to the delivery room. In fact it took me longer (6 months) to conceive this time round.

Is six weeks a long time or a short time to go? Can't decide.

kaz33 · 22/05/2003 09:30

I know such constructive carelessness ( great phrase ) got my sister in law up the duff after three months. She is still reeling from the shock that she is going to be a mum in August.

Don't really understand the mindset - you are either trying for a baby or not. Ah well, the good news is that the boys will have lots of playmates in a few years. It was getting a bit lonely as none of my best friends had kids.

I think six weeks is quite a long time to go. One week tomorrow, which is what I have, is a short time. Haven't packed my hospital bag yet - should do but don't want to tempt fate.

motherinferior · 22/05/2003 09:37

In my case, I'd only just got it together with a new bloke who was actually inclined to be nice to me, after several years of complete disasters - culminating in being dumped by long-distance phone call on Christmas Eve - during which I'd decided that all hope of functioning relationships, kids etc, was just off the agenda. Being 'careless' was probably utterly stupid (and I certainly thought so when I celebrated my 37th birthday with a positive test) but we're still together!

Dahlia · 22/05/2003 16:22

motherinferior, the stuff I use is Body Shop melon seed body butter or something like that, and its worked wonders for me.
Have spent 2 hours in hairdressers and feel very blonde and glamorous. I want my hair to look nice in my I've-just-given-birth-and-feel-like-shite-but-am-really-happy photo.
