Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

my midwife mentioned weight and because of my bmi has prescribed extra folic acid, vit D and taking an asprin a day.

is anyone still on cyclogest? After 8 weeks I dropped down to one a day and now I'm going to everyother day then they are all gone.
I'm hoping this will then help regulate my bowls as they are all-over the place. along with the bloating I'm hoping to loose some weight in the next few weeks 🤣 (when I'm back from my all inclusive holiday 🤣)

gulph · 30/04/2023 22:28

Oh yeah I'm on the 5mg folic acid and I need to take aspirin until week 36 but I would need to take that for this area on the basis that this is my first baby and conceived by ivf without any weight issues.

What vitamin d are you taking? Agora recommended pregnacare for the folic and vitamin d, so I've been taking that since my bfp. The pharmacist said I was ok to continue taking the pregnacare with the increased folic acid so I've been doing that for the last couple of weeks and will add in an aspirin in the morning and at night when I get to the pharmacy this week coming.

And yeah not on the pessaries anymore. Took one a day for the 3 or 4 days after 8 weeks to use them up but nothing since then. I used the vaginally from embryo transfer and found my bowels were much better from that point so hopefully yours return to normal soon! X

Hi everyone. I'm 7+4, found out at my viability scan on Thursday that I am expecting twins! It hasn't really sunk in yet and I think maybe it's just too early to let myself believe it, incase things change.

I am just wondering if anyone else is on progesterone and extremely bloated? I have been drinking as much fluids as I can but I feel I look like I am about 6mths. I gained a lot of weight in the last year from starting and stopping treatment over and over and it really messed with my body, as I am so careful what I eat I have no other explanation for it. Now I feel that there is no hiding my secret at such an early stage that's it making me really anxious about going out and meeting people because I think it's just too obvious and I don't feel ready for people to know and won't feel ready until fingers crossed We make it to the 12 week mark. Does anyone else feel like this or am I going crazy?

BrownXeyes · 02/05/2023 11:24

Hi everyone,
how is everyone getting on?
@Hopewishprayer welcome to the worrying group! You are in the right company!

@gulph im the same I am 9 weeks + 2 and swear I look 5 months!

I had a private scan yesterday just for reassurance and everything was as it should be can’t believe how much little one had grown in 2 weeks since I got discharged from my IVF clinic! I honestly feel like I am just spending my day everyday holding my breath, I’m finding it hard to be happy because if I do I feel like something will go wrong! Even though I keep telling myself how lucky I am!

got my booking appt on Thursday, bloods on the 15th and 12 week scan on the 30th then hopefully I can start to breathe again!

Undercoverunicorn · 02/05/2023 12:09

Hi to all the newbies, lovely to have some more aboard.

@BrownXeyes really glad all OK at your private scan, it's so amazing how quickly they grow and develop!

@greentreeseverywhere I'm on cyclogest until 12 weeks, and then will taper off whatever I have left over.

@Solowannabemom yes the progesterone makes me bloated too. Honestly I am sure I am more conscious of it than anyone else is and in my experience no one comments even if they do notice, until you bring it up. So don't hide away if you want to get out and about.

I'm still feeling v sick. Plus have an upset stomach today - not sure it's a bug, maybe an ibs flare or the progesterone effects. But of course my mind jumped straight to there being something wrong with the pregnancy😫plus my insomnia is awful - generally awake from about half 2 each day. Looking forward to my consultant appt where I can discuss going back on my usual medication.

Sorry for the moan guys, I am so grateful to be pregnant but it doesn't make the day to day or the worries any easier to deal with. Hope everyone had a good long Bank Holiday weekend.

BrownXeyes · 02/05/2023 13:15

@Undercoverunicorn thank you.

I am still feeling very sick but spoke to my gp and they prescribed me anti sickness tablets which have worked. I am also on cyclogest until 12 weeks and it’s a pain! I’ve had to switch from ustrogen to this because you cant get ustrogen anywhere and I was fine on the ustrogen but this cyclogest has me a hormonal Mess! Can’t wait to stop them to be honest! Counting the next 4 weeks! X

Stopthatnoisemummy · 02/05/2023 13:19

@BrownXeyes glad the medication is helping 👍

BrownXeyes · 02/05/2023 13:26

@Stopthatnoisemummy it is! it’s not
stopped the food aversions so I’m still living off cereal and fruit but it’s certainly helping with the sickness day to day! How are you doing?x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 02/05/2023 13:57

@Stopthatnoisemummy pretty rubbish still 😑 feel v bloated and the carbs are def going to my tummy - looking forwards to a proper bump appearing eventually so I don't just look fat! Wondering if it'll happen sooner this time with it being dc 2 for me 🤔

Stopthatnoisemummy · 02/05/2023 14:33

Really not with it today...that was for @BrownXeyes not myself!

BrownXeyes · 02/05/2023 16:00

@Stopthatnoisemummy aww I hope you feel better sooon! I am with you I feel like I’m carrying Two stone extra not sure if it’s just the hormone meds though bloating?x

Vallef · 02/05/2023 16:04

Hi ladies glad to see everyone is doing well other than the usual worries which don't seem to be ending. I had my 2nd blood test for pear of mind yoday with is day 14 following transfer and my levels are over 1000 so cross fingers I just need to get to 13th May now for the scan. Feel so anxious as last time I had a miscarriage at week 6 and scared of a repeat performance :( I have noticed a couple of days I felt something like feeling sick on sat but don't know if it was to do with having my first blood test and stress. Progesterone (utrogestan) however is kicking my ass still. Feel pretty dizzy or knock out about an hour after I take it which makes its abit hard. Only gd thing is they increased my dose by 1 extra pill which am taking at night time and I feel it literally zonks Me put until morning which is great because ei suffered from insomnia at the beginning and wanted to kill my husband from the anger lol

graygoose · 03/05/2023 03:47

@Stopthatnoisemummy my bloating is out of control, especially as I have also received progesterone injections due to bleeding. I look massive, it’s very depressing.

@Vallef these are very promising numbers! As long as the HCG has doubled over 48 hours it’s a good thing. The viability wait is awful, I have my fingers crossed for you x

Is anyone else experiencing brain fog? I’m ok when I sit down to work quietly but as soon as I’m on a meeting or call I just zone out and can’t focus. I think it’s the fatigue, I just don’t have the energy to be sparkling company right now!

UrbanParakeet · 03/05/2023 07:19

Hi Everyone, welcome to all the new people to the thread. Hope everyone is doing ok despite all the symptoms.

@greentreeseverywhere @Solowannabemom @Stopthatnoisemummy I’m still on cyclogest until 12 weeks. Minimal bloating but I often wonder if I’m doing it right putting it in the back end. Was really bloated when taking utergesterone previously. Am getting bigger however and am so uncomfortable wearing jeans.

@BrownXeyes So glad to hear about your scan. It’s incredible being able to see them grow … I’m tempted to have a private scan before my nuchal but that’s only a week and a half away so will try my best to be patient.

@graygoose oh I hear you. The fatigue is impacting me the most. I feel completely useless and unproductive on the weekends which is making me anxious. Trying to be kind to myself and remind myself that there is a baby being made so I’m actually being very productive! During the week I find having half a small coffee is helping me get through the day (I am very sensitive to caffeine)

Vallef · 03/05/2023 11:40

@graygoose I hope so! Just feel so paranoid I keep thinking I might pay for another blood test at end of the week to make sure it's still going up. Am having cramps this morning and whilst I know they say it's normal I can't help but worry. The fatigue is horrible I find I have days when I feel so tired all day and other days where it just hits me out of the blue and I have to get in bed. Luckily am still off work this week as well. I was told I was being made redundant and then last minute I was transferred into a new project but they have 4 weeks where if for whatever reason they decide they don't like want me il still be made redundant so have that hanging over me as well knowing that it isn't a gd time to be taking sick leave.

gulph · 03/05/2023 21:24

Booked a private 10 week scan today and baby is growing big and strong 🥰 literally just amazed we are this far!

@gulph amazing news!

@UrbanParakeet the fatigue is killing me too, plus insomnia and I am a zombie. Had the in laws here over the weekend and really wasn't v sociable or a good host.

BrownXeyes · 03/05/2023 21:50

@gulph what a fab photo! Congratulations! All gets a bit real when you see how much baby’s grown doesn’t it!

UrbanParakeet · 04/05/2023 06:56

@gulph fantastic news!! Great to hear all on track and must be a bit of relief.

Is anyone considering doing the NIPT test privately?

graygoose · 04/05/2023 07:42

Just had the 8 week scan and all went well! Little heart beating away and it’s starting to look more like a baby 😊 going to hold off scanning until week 12 (or try to).

@UrbanParakeet we are going for NIPT scanning, partly because you can also find out the gender super early and I’m very nosy. However, I have heard mixed reviews at how the results can give false positives sometimes so I would go into the process as fully informed as possible.

My clinic have said I can stop my drugs on 30 May which is exciting but seems to be cold turkey. Has anyone else gone through this? It seems rather abrupt and I’m a bit worried about withdrawal symptoms etc.

Hopewishprayer · 04/05/2023 08:35

@gulph amazing news, so special to see the development! I am 10 weeks today but nhs scan not until 13+5, I have booked for a private scan next Wednesday 😬

Vallef · 04/05/2023 12:26

@gulph that's amazing thank you for sharing always good to share the happy news. What is NIPT?

Had anyone felt dizzy spells out of curiosity? I literally washed some dishes and made some fresh mash for lunch and I feel so dizzy as soon as I finished I floped in bed as if I run a marathon and light headed. Should I worry?

Jupiteer · 04/05/2023 17:36

Hello all
So happy to join this thread, never thought I'd make it to the pregnancy board in a million years!
I had my 7week scan today following IVF and a fresh transfer and could see a little heart beating away 💛 I cried so much!
I had mild OHSS but it seems to be settling down now which is good as I have been feeling pretty swollen and sore.
We have booked a private NIPT at 10 weeks - it's expensive but I think you can't put a price on reassurance and I think the NHS screening will put me at high risk as I am 39yrs old, the wait then for the results will only increase my worry.
I've been so anxious about something going wrong but for today at least... I feel reassured and grateful x

Vallef · 04/05/2023 20:41

@Jupiteer hey nice of you to join us :) nice to have another newbie in the group! I still seem to be at the start of things at 4 weeks and 5 days!! Can't wait to get to the stage of 7 weeks my first scan is booked for the 12th May at 6 weeks and time is passing extremely slow!!
