Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@AlisonDanuta we went for the icandy peach for the all terrain reasons. Although when we go dog walking, we will likely use a carrier or a sling, we live on the south coast 5 mins to the beach and the same to the South Downs which is perfect for having a dog but need something comfortable on both and for going round the shops in the town!

I'm now on a baby bjorn black hole 🤦🏼‍♀️ everyone seems to bang on about the carriers and the bouncers and I just get sucked in! It's these kind of bits that I have left now that we have travel system/nursery pretty much sorted! And baby monitors! The owl seems to be 'the thing' but anyone got any other recommendations? My best friend had the angel care system with her two which she really rated which is deffo a cheaper option but I just don't know!

I was told BB bouncers and slings are the best. By good friends and not google. So I defo trust their opinions.

This is what I have in my wish list @gulph

@AlisonDanuta we came to Greece to visit my husbands family anyway but we remained here for so long for IVF purposes so it has been difficult being away from home for so long and my doggies and family. Worst bit is I decides not to travel to Italy for my brothers wedding on Sunday so feeling really really chappy.

Vallef · 22/08/2023 10:18

@AlisonDanuta sorey I forgot to say its not thT there more relaxed here there's actually more laws surrounding when they can put 2 embryos or 3. So I think with 3 embryos you need to meet some elements possibly age, how many IVF treatments you had etc and also they have to complete paperwork which they submit to the government. Because of my cancer background and the fact I had 5 cycles already I was also eligible for 3 but chose not to. Its just things here are more proper I feel doctors are more straight with you I recommend this all the way compared to the UK!!

Vallef · 22/08/2023 11:44

@AlisonDanuta bugaboo seems to have big urban wheels maybe have a look at that brand as well but I can't remember if the cybex cr7 said is the one I saw has different wheels for off road u can buy. Am sure I saw cybex has a design like that. I liked cybex gazelle s and that's what we go it was really light and packs away really nicely and not in a chunky way like some other prams and as we have to have 2 of everything space will be a precious thing. The lady was triying to sell us the other part as well the port bebe type the babies sleep in and I was like 2 of those 2 car chairs and the buggy there won't be space for anyone else in the car lol

@Stopthatnoisemummy how r u feeling? Xx

AlisonDanuta · 22/08/2023 15:22

Thank you ladies for all your suggestions 😊

@gulph that's amazing you have most sorted with pram and nursery! Nice to have someone to ask for an advise as I'm behind with everything.

We're going pram shopping again this weekend so hoping we will chose one and get to other things then.

@Vallef looks like you've been through a long journey and glad you have your husband and his family there 🥰
Thank you for your suggestions too

Hope everyone is doing well xxx

CR7 · 22/08/2023 17:13

Ladies, incase you're not aware, mamas and papas have a sale on x

@gulph @Stopthatnoisemummy @AlisonDanuta @Vallef @BrownXeyes

BrownXeyes · 22/08/2023 17:32

@CR7 fab thank you do you know how long for?x

CR7 · 22/08/2023 18:47

@BrownXeyes I don't xx I now know it has been on for over a week because my husband said it's where he got my BBHugme from.

What I would say is that whilst some of the offers look good, they end up being the same price as the exact same item I have on my Amazon wish list. That being said, there are some great offers on cybex (just not the one we want) and lots of other things. Just make sure you compare. It was the only place that had my pillow on offer 🥰

AlisonDanuta · 23/08/2023 07:17

@BrownXeyes I believe offer is till Bank holiday Monday. We went last weekend to look at prams and this is what we were told. Also if you buy a pram in store you will get £100 to spend. We have decided not to go for the pram from there

BrownXeyes · 23/08/2023 08:57

@AlisonDanuta thank you I had a look last night but it is all very over priced even in the sale compared to most
places. I’m not getting my pram from there neither I have picked mine out but we have a park centre near by so will order through them so we have a point of contact for it all.
did order a bath seat though! X

CR7 · 23/08/2023 09:07

@BrownXeyes I have this one on my list x

I saw something like this at 100 euros because my bath to use to bend down for a baby will give me a back ache. We put a P shaped bath which has a big glass on the P side as there's a waterfall shower and on the slimmer side it's the toilet so it so for an adult to sort of hop in/out but to bend down for a baby think it will be difficult. Only bad thing is I can't seem to find this in the UK and at this rate if we get this as well and bring it in the car we eventually won't fit I the car our selves lol. But it's tall and it moves easily has a fitted chair for 0 to 6 and then it extends for 6 to 12 months and on the side it flips up a changer section as well so it's handy if your struggling for space in the bathroom. We have a downstairs bathroom with a shower so thought I can just park it there permanently!

@gulph YOU ARE SO ORGANISED!! very impressive xx

BrownXeyes · 23/08/2023 12:47

@gulph how organised are you - all starting to come together! We still don’t have anything in our house 😆 x

gulph · 23/08/2023 13:30

😂 thanks ladies! I'm finding organisation is helping me stay calm now! Now I'm over viability, it's like the baby could come any day now (unlikely but still want to be prepared!)
Had a meeting with mental health consultant today and they are happy with how I'm doing but they want to up my medication slightly from 32/34 weeks to ensure I'm prepared for postpartum and organising regular check ins etc

OP posts:
Vallef · 23/08/2023 13:59

@CR7 awwww I like those thank you!!! It will save my back and as theirs 2 of them it will be double time so I think this will really help! All that's missing now is having a double seat so can do them together lol got no idea how bath time will go if am alone but hoping it's one of those things that once you get jnto a rhythm is manageable!! The one you have on your wishlist is very gd I got my sister that for her 3 as she had a nice space in her bathroom.

@gulph I cannot believe how organised you are and the room looks so beautiful!! How many weeks are you now? 26?
