Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@Vallef glad your scan went well. Hope girl twin keeps on being the boss 😆

@BrownXeyes so glad you're having a lovely holiday.

@gulph hope the migraine keeps improving

A bit of a mixed bag at my scan today. All OK with baby, his tummy measuring a bit bigger than the rest of him, but not in the concerning range at the moment.

My placenta has moved, although over to the right and the bottom of it is over my cervix. They couldn't conpletely rule out it being attached to my c section scar, so just need to wait until the next one to see if it has moved up any further. In terms of delivery if it is still over my cervix then I'll need a c section, but planning on that anyway. A higher risk of bleeding etc, and it gets even more risky if attached to my scar at all, and they tend to deliver earlier. Just a case of wait and see really.

Had a very productive day sorting out baby clothes, although overdone it a bit I think. Glad it's the weekend!

CR7 · 18/08/2023 17:33

Absolutely wonderful to hear all your updates ladies.

@Vallef delighted to hear your scan went so well! Are you going to come back to the U.K. sooner than planned if your dates have moved up so much? Shame about the wedding but you're going the right thing. Xx

@gulph sorry to hear about the migraine. It's so hard when you can't take anything stronger than paracetamol. Ps what a wonder woman job you have. Very inspiring xx

CR7 · 18/08/2023 17:34

@Stopthatnoisemummy glad they are on top of everything for you and keeping a close eye on how you progress x

CR7 · 18/08/2023 17:35

@BrownXeyes great to hear from you and so happy you're relaxing and enjoying your break. After reading about your trip the other week I decided to book a long weekend in Spain with my friend in September. I cannot wait, although now I have to think of holiday maternity clothes. I've only just nailed maternity for the U.K.!

Enjoy every moment in the sunshine relaxing xx

BrownXeyes · 18/08/2023 21:55

@Stopthatnoisemummy good to hear
you are being monitored! Me and you are somilar
when I’m back I have a scan 2 weeks after and a midwife app too.

@Vallef sounds like the scan went fab which is great news, will you be on your way back to the UK soon?

@CR7 do you know what I don’t think I knew how much I needed it. I cant do much like the a otivties husband and step son are doing but just not setting an alarm or not being in daily
routine has really relaxed me! I have stayed in the shade reading and just people watching and I’m loving it so I would say do it! I bought some maternity dresses from George asda maternity range and they are fab x

CR7 · 18/08/2023 22:06

@BrownXeyes I will defo have a look. Delighted to hear you're relaxing xx

Vallef · 19/08/2023 11:06

@CR7 and @BrownXeyes il be traveling back on the 30th September to come to the UK by car and am guessing that will be my holiday as we will take the ship to Italy which will be 22 hours and I hope for the best that my stomach will hold! Then will drive down to verona and Florence and then to innsbruck as heard was beautiful and then strasburg in France reims and then final line to calai and home! So aiming to do a 5/6 day trip back so I don't get tired with the car doctor said I should be in the car a mac of 4 hours per day so will take it slow. I'd love to pass by bruge again its so beautiful. God knows when we will n3xt travel if all goes well with 2. Its quite taunting keep wondering how I will cope! Am the oldest of 6 and raised my 3 siblings fully as my parents were working from morning til midnight when I was 12 so I have experience but so much time has passed and it's diff when it's urs. But anyway triying not to scare my self shirtless from now lol.

Also shein has some nice summer bits @CR7 but if ur getting a bit of bump I finally put a maternity trouser and the lastic is seriously a godsend so maybe that will help support now! They also have some nice maternity swimsuits although ask ur midwife if ur OK to go to the sea. With the bacteria I was told I wasn't alow3d which is hard as its like 36 degrees and boiling.

@BrownXeyes so glad ur having a much needed rest there's a waterworks in crete and also a really cheap excursion to the lepreucy island which is worth a visit if you can hack the boat ride!!

CR7 · 19/08/2023 13:22

@Vallef wow! That's quite a journey! Have you chosen not to fly because of the babies? xx you excited to get back? xx

CR7 · 19/08/2023 13:23

@Vallef shien yes but takes a long time to come and not so easy to return. I bought four lovely dresses from topshop maternity on vinted last night.

Don't think I'll be going in the sea but I do need to find some more swimsuits. I got two off Amazon for my last holiday which were great but now too small xx

BrownXeyes · 19/08/2023 16:39

@CR7 ive
managed to get some fab bargains off Vinted for home and holiday. For swimsuits I ended up getting them off jo Bebe maman or whatever it is called! Expensive but the only ones that seem to fit properly! And they are very comfortable! Again im hoping I can sell some of my maternity dresses on Vinted after holiday cos I won’t wear them again I wouldn’t have thought!

@Vallef sounds like a hellish journey! Like you say take your time and take in the opportunity to see the scenery and what not! I made sure I got the ok from the doctor with flying because I was a bit concerned so I understand how you feel!

A photo of the hot hot sky here in Crete for you all!! X

CR7 · 19/08/2023 17:39

@BrownXeyes thank you I'll have a good look through the website x

Enjoy every moment

Vallef · 19/08/2023 22:42

@CR7 @BrownXeyes because I misscaried a week after traveling back to the UK by plane in my jumbled mind am blaming the flight I know it's silly but I just can't bare the idea of getting on a plane again pregnant. It's one of those things you know your being silly but you just won't budge! So I know by car will be difficult I already have a pillow to sit on and for my back from 3 months as my back started aching after car journeys but am hoping to pull through and see some beautiful places as I think il be stuck indoors aft3r that triying to get used to 2 screaming babies at once lol I am excited I miss my home my family I miss my poor doggies who have more than likely forgotten what we look like after 5 months!

Onto a happy thing we went to see prams today and just browse and we ended up again the one we wanted cybex from Greece. We're gona be saving something like 200 off the pram it self with the second chair and then we saw the cloud z2 car chair as well which is also another 80 pounds cheaper for 2 so we thought might ad well grab it and work out how to fit it all in the car on way back after lol. The cloud 2 lies the baby back which is awesome for using it on the pram. Aparently there isn't alot of eggs/car chairs that do that?

P.s crete looks lovely enjoy it hun and rest up!!!

CR7 · 20/08/2023 18:17

@Vallef you have to do what's right for you. That's the most important thing. Whatever works for you and your husband!

Brilliant news on your shopping spree!

We have semi settled on the cybex cloud T. There's a mamas and papas outlet near us so we are going to go and check it out before we buy anything at all.

We also floor-planned out the nursery. We won't use it much for the first six months but we want it ready to go so that is something ticked off the list

gulph · 20/08/2023 19:27

We went for the cybex cloud as a car seat as well due to the lay flat thing and the spinning base! Easily fits into the icandy peach as well 👍🏻

We went a picked up our nursery furniture today, found it on marketplace. Whole set of white gloss silver cross set in immaculate condition for £350, just had to be done so yesterday we cleared out the spare room and it's all ready to be rebuilt over the next few months 😍 will add pics when all built!

@gulph just had a look on the SC website. Furniture is really beautiful xx

AlisonDanuta · 20/08/2023 20:14

So lovely to read you're all doing great!
We've been looking at prams this weekend and can't decide.
Sooo many to choose from!
Has any of you seen inglesina aptica xt?
Feels v easy to fold and easy to manoeuvre.
I guess I'll be most of the time on my own during maternity so looking for something easy to use with 1 hand :)

Plus it has a stand so you can use it in a living room and my dog won't get to the baby easily.

@Vallef fingers crossed for your journey back to UK- must be difficult to be in Greece for such a long time without your family and friends.
Was this only for ivf reasons?
(My friend has had her ivf in Athens and they even put 3 embryos back)
They seem more relaxed about it than in UK.
By then temperatures would drop so you'll have a nicer journey and see beautiful places!

CR7 · 20/08/2023 20:19

Hey @AlisonDanuta ! So lovely to hear from you xx

We did look at it. Really liked it, but it was a bit too heavy for me. It's best part of 14kg and then the carry cot weight is another 5kg.

The one I have (kind of!) chosen is less than 10kg and that was the deciding factor. However I am a weakling haha and you're probably much stronger than I am 🫣🫣

Stopthatnoisemummy · 20/08/2023 20:43

Enjoying all the shopping updates! I'd def recommend getting nursery's set up before the babies arrive, it's so much easier when you've not got a small person demanding all your time and attention! I actually used ours a lot even before the 6 month mark when we moved DD into her cot. We had a cot top changer which was the perfect hight post c section which no table or floor could match. We also have a rocking chair which still gets used every day. Initially I fed / pumped overnight in it and it then became part of bedtime routine with stories and cuddles and rocking back to sleep for overnight wake ups.

I've been having horrible burning pains over part of my scar and further up my tummy the side my placenta is today. So of course my mind has gone into overdrive that it's worst case with my placenta being adhered. Baby kicking merrily away though which is the main thing.

CR7 · 20/08/2023 20:53

@Stopthatnoisemummy I think that's an excellent outlook. Providing baby is kicking and happy, all is well with them. So sorry to hear about the pain though.

I wondered twice today if I could feel something. I suppose when it happens, you absolutely know so maybe it was something else?

Good tips about the nursery xx

AlisonDanuta · 20/08/2023 21:23

What have you de ided to go for @CR7 that is lighter please?
I've become v weak during this pregnancy as had to stop the gym and weight training. So I'll need something easy to pick up too lol

@Stopthatnoisemummy I seem to be taken everything very slow and room we will have a nursery is filled with my junk lol so good advise! Will start sorting it out as I was slowing everything down thinking baby will be with us at first anyway ;)

Stopthatnoisemummy · 20/08/2023 21:33

@AlisonDanuta oh tell me about it. We are trying to sort out the spare room to move DD before the baby comes but making very slow progress! We did manage to take out a fitted wardrobe today though, although the contents mainly just on the floor now! We had hoped of repainting ourselves but realistically think we are going to have to get someone in to do it - even organising quotes etc seems like too much to sort after a day at work and wrangling DD into bed!

CR7 · 20/08/2023 21:34

CR7 · 16/08/2023 12:45

@gulph 99% decided on this one. It's the Cybex Mios Platinum. In black material (not grey like on the pictures) with either matte black or the rose gold frame (not sure if the rose gold is a bit much or not). They do a bundle but I don't think we would use everything. They also gave us a discount code for when we decide to buy x

@AlisonDanuta this xx it comes in lots of colours. Will choose black. Just needs to decide on black metal legs or rose gold. Not sure if there is flashy xx

CR7 · 20/08/2023 21:35

Ahhh sorry @CR7 missed that earlier!
Looks lovely, I can see it's a city pram, we would need something off road as we usually go on country side walks etc.
Will need to decide soon.

We were told in one shop that we were looking for a pram late.. as people come usually after 12 week scan.. but this is a personal decision but now I'm trying to speed up with things! Lol

@Stopthatnoisemummy at least you've started it! :) it's always messy when trying to sort things so don't worry about your things on the floor! They will eventually find a place! My hubby would say in a skip lol but I always manage to squeeze things somewhere ;)

CR7 · 20/08/2023 21:47

@AlisonDanuta that sounds crazy!!!! 12 weeks???

We will be getting ours at the last minute.

And you're right. The first question we were asked about is where we live so that they could start narrowing down and wheels was the first thing we discussed! Xx
