Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

How is everyone doing? My pram arrived 😍 hubby was like a kid getting it out and putting it all together so he could push it round 😂

@gulph that’s gorgeous! I love it! Did you get the travel system bundle or just the pram? We have found one but going to wait until the holiday in August before we order it! Bet it all feels surreal now! Xx

gulph · 25/07/2023 18:39

We got a whole bundle! So got pram, seat, all the accessories like foot muff, cup holder, rain covers etc and then a cybex cloud z2 car seat and the 360 isofix base.

You felt any movements yet? Xxxx

CR7 · 25/07/2023 20:05

Hey @gulph ! Pram looks fabulous; you must be so delighted xx

gulph · 25/07/2023 21:26

The frame looks matte in the pic but it's shiny black 😍

My little bub has been very active the last few days, able to make out where they are laying and where they are kicking.

Is it crazy that I'm now counting down to 24 weeks when the baby is 'viable' why is there always some milestone instead of just being able to relax?!

Vallef · 25/07/2023 22:40

@gulph how exciting it must make everything so so real now :) gd let him practice lol I always say you need a driving licence to drive those things once there's a baby in it! Awww nice that you can feel everything as well now. I think once that happens hopefuly the stress eases maybe??

I had a meltdown on Saturday and called the midwife in tears so I went in for a scan. My boobs stopped hurting and my pee changed colour and the discharge disapeared since Thursday and I started panicking something was wrong. Am sure she was laughing but as I was crying sh3 was like come in so we can settle ur mind. Bloody hormones!!

gulph · 26/07/2023 06:39

Oh bless you @Vallef. Were you happy with the scan? How are your babies getting on? Xxx

OP posts:
BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 07:20

@gulph no still not felt anything definitive it’s driving me insane.

i am on holiday at 24 weeks. But the day before I go away which will be 23+ 3 I have a glucose test at the pregnancy assessment unit so not if I explain to them that I haven’t felt anything and I’m on holiday after that they will do a scan check for me
x

Vallef · 26/07/2023 12:05

@gulph well the doctor just saw the heartbeats as he literally squeezed me in and checked the cervix which is still stable as their triying to put off the op for the stitches as much as they can otherwise I think il have to be more bed bound taking it easy. Is it bad I keep thinking I wana bite their bums gently of course when their born for all the stress I've gone through lol he said 2nd trimester symptoms ease and it's nothing to worry about. Lo and behold my boob pain came back with a vengeance shortly after leaving the doctor as well!

@BrownXeyes my cousin 2ho just gave birth to her 2nd didn't feel anything until her 25th week so try not to worry. Is the placenta interior or posterior as alsonthis makes a difference xx

BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 12:10

@Vallef im not sure they haven’t said just said my
placenta is low lying and that could make a difference x

Vallef · 26/07/2023 14:08

@BrownXeyes try not to worry am sure by week 25 you will have felt the baby for sure :) I was reading that a gd time to feel it is liying down on your side and poke ur tummy or get a flash light and move it around ur belly. Apparently at your week they see light go through and they find it interesting. Maybe doing a short burst of jogging In place or have something sugary? Online it says a few things to try so have a go and let us know how it goes as well!!

BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 14:43

@vallef oh thank you I will certainly give those things a go!!

AlisonDanuta · 26/07/2023 15:34

Hello ladies, I've been following this thread since i posted in when I was 5 weeks. Now I'm 20 weeks and still pinching myself!
So nice to see similar issues and worries!
Lovely to see some of you choosing prams!

We've had our 20 week scan and everything was checked except heart so need to go back in 2 weeks time.
Baby wasn't cooperating!

Have you told your friends and family what sex is your baby yet??

Vallef · 26/07/2023 15:54

@AlisonDanuta hi Alison you probably messaged the chat whey before I joined as I am only at 16w + 4d still :) nice of you to rejoin in the madness of the group! 20 weeks must be a nice time as you get to see more or less everything and know everything is growing as it should. I've put 20 weeks as my target to keep calm but feels so far away still! It's so nice to have you other ladies further along as we can use your wisdom when we worry and its great to see everyone's ideas on what to buy. Overall great group for the gd and bad so welcome back again!!

I personally have not told anyone other than my MIL and parents so no one knows the sex either! After 5 rounds and various health issues and triying to get to this stage for the last 8 years and a miscariage last November just feel safer keeping it to our selves for now so not planing on telling anyone til 20 weeks. My belly has blown up so may be abit difficult but luckily I can just say am eating well 🤭 🤭

BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 18:00

Sorry if this is too much information everyone but I have just been to the toilet when I wiped there was a lump of white jelly like discharge on the paper not a huge amount maybe jelly bean size is this normal? It’s not something I’ve noticed before x

BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 18:14

@CR7 yer I had already read that but I don’t believe stuff I read 90% of the time haha! Just wondered if anyone else had experienced it. X

gulph · 26/07/2023 19:28

Not experienced @BrownXeyes but I don't think it would be anything to worry about but worth asking midwife to ease your mind as I know sometimes we just need that extra reassurance.

@AlisonDanuta welcome back! We have told most people that we see that we are having a baby and I haven't been able to hide my bump since about 11 weeks so anyone that sees me knows pretty much straight away 😂 we haven't done any 'announcements' on socials as if we don't see people over a 6/7 month period, they don't really need to know until baby is here safe. Our family/friends/workmates have been waiting for this baby for 10 years so they are all overly excited! We aren't finding out the sex so nothing to tell people there. We have multiple sweepstakes going on with family members, works etc as to the sex, the arrival date and weight which is lovely as everyone feels invested and involved.
How have you been getting on?

BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 19:35

@AlisonDanuta welcome back! Great to hear all is going well for you! I am similar to the other ladies and couldn’t really hide my bump from about 14 weeks especially to those closest to me who see me all the time! We found out the sex and close friends and family know it’s a girl. However we haven’t made announcements either on social media or anything because as Gulph said if I don’t see them in the next 6/7 months they don’t need to know. Have you found out the sex?

@gulph my midwife is not that much help if I’m honest it took 3 texts, 2 phone calls to her and 3 phone calls and messages left at the doctors surgery just to get her to leave me a Mat B1 form for work! Not much faith to be honest! I’ll keep an eye on it though! X

Vallef · 26/07/2023 19:35

@BrownXeyes discharge is normal during pregnancy it's our bodies way of keeping that area clean of infections. Did u by any chance take a photo? If its normal discharge like little balls of white/pale yellow jelly like sticky substance should be fine. If its thicker and more though Google mucus plug just to make sure that wasn't what u saw??

BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 19:40

@Vallef i did take a picture thanks I’ll have a look - is it too much if I put the photo in here? I don’t want to put
people off their jaffa cakes! X

Vallef · 26/07/2023 20:04

@BrownXeyes I don't mind hun if it will settle ur mind. Or if u like you can PM me in case others mind!

Ahhh I miss jaffa cakes but don't think they have them in Greece!

BrownXeyes · 26/07/2023 20:12

That’s it there in the middle if you zoom in! Not helpful it’s on white paper!

ahh if it makes you feel better I have a pack ready to tuck into tonight! X

I would say all normal but you know your body better than anyone else 💗 I haven't got my matb1 as of yet, my midwife said she would give it to me at my 25 week appointment, is that too late to get it?

AlisonDanuta · 27/07/2023 07:31

Aww @Vallef we've been trying for 8 years as well...it's a very long time so we've got every right to feel stressed about it.

My mother in low was pressing us on telling people! Which made me think she has no idea how stressful this is.
We've eventually told our closest friends abd family at 15 weeks. Haven't "announced " it on social media so only people who notice now they know.

@gulph 10 years it's a decade of trying and so glad you didn't lose hope!

It's so lovely when your close people are super excited! Our experience of telling them was just full of love and happy tears! Such a lovely feeling 💕

@BrownXeyes we're having a girl 🩷
Same as you!

I've always said as long as it's healthy but couldn't wait any longer not to know!
We went for a private scan at 17 weeks (I've had a fall and just wanted to make sure it was all ok)
I think i always wanted to have a baby girl since I was little so absolutely over the moon.

We're having a party for close friends and family so will tell them then but we wanted to find out in private.

@CR7 i was making notes on your thread for things to buy! Lol
But can't bring myself yet to get anything! Hopefully it will change soon 🥰
