Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@BrownXeyes I've been soooo clear to everyone, no pregnancy announcements, no finding out the gender, no baby showers etc as I just don't feel I will ever be able to accept those things happening.
Do you think when it's baby 2 or 3 you ever feel like you can relax into it? I just don't know! Couldn't even celebrate being half way today even feeling baby moving around due to my brain just getting in the way!
Hoping that Friday gives us the answers we want/need to be able to exhale for a week 😂

God knows! I’ve got a home Doppler and have heard the heartbeat every time I’ve used it but convinced myself either the Doppler is wrong or it’s my heartbeat! I’m halfway tomorrow and won’t be saying anything either. I haven’t felt baby move yet or if I have I didn’t know so that’s making me even worse! X

gulph · 12/07/2023 19:56

@BrownXeyes you probably have felt movements but put it down to your stomach rumbling or stretching pains or gas! Lay on your back and be really still for a bit and see what you feel (I know you aren't meant to lay on your back but that's how I worked out what it was when I was ill with a migraine!)

@gulph I feel like once you can feel movement/kicks it might make it all easier and anxiety will settle. However saying that I thought it would at 12 weeks and it didn’t 😆 x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 12/07/2023 21:20

@BrownXeyes @gulph when I started feeling regular and strong movement with my first it definitely helped the anxiety. What time are your scans on Friday? Mine isn't until the afternoon - the morning is going to drag SO much I'm sure.

gulph · 12/07/2023 21:23

@Stopthatnoisemummy mine is early thankfully at 9:40🤞🏻
Really hope that @Hopewishprayer got on ok, worried we haven't heard 🫣

Lots of love to you @Hopewishprayer Xx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 12/07/2023 21:42

@Vallef looks beautiful, and how wonderful you've been able to stay out there since treatment, looks v relaxing! Am sure your doggos are missing you too!

@gulph @BrownXeyes I'm last, not till 1520. Keep us all posted on how you get on. We are planning on finding out the sex this time too which adds to the anticipation.

BrownXeyes · 12/07/2023 21:47

@Stopthatnoisemummy I will let me
know how you get on too! Can’t wait to hear what you’re having!! Xx

Hopewishprayer · 13/07/2023 08:45

@gulph @BrownXeyes sorry been so busy since scan, looking after our friends dog and she’s been unwell 😢
scan was great! They check everything from head to toe each time she moved onto a new part if the body I was holding my breath until she she said look good! Baby was in an akward position (as usual!) and so took a while to get the face bits checked but got there in the end. It’s amazing to see the progress from last scan.
we didn’t find out the gender we looked away when she got to that part 😂

after my scan though had some drama and LOTS of stress: we have an app to use for appointments and notes etc so layer in the evening I was having a look and it said an anomaly had been found to do with pulmonary outflow - when I googled it it was a serious heart problem but they were closed by then - was so worried but when contacted them in the morning they said “oh that’s a mistake- it’s a drop down used and it’s selected that by accident” so relieved, but how bad is that?! 😡

Hopewishprayer · 13/07/2023 08:46

@BrownXeyes hope your scan went well @gulph good luck for tomorrow xx

Vallef · 13/07/2023 16:51

@Hopewishprayer so glad ur scan went well that must be such a huge relief. What they did though with that error and all that stress they caused was unacceptable seriously that would have kept me up all night!!

@gulph , @BrownXeyes and @Stopthatnoisemummy let us know how the scan goes so excited for you all :) feel we're all so vested in each other xxx

BrownXeyes · 13/07/2023 17:10

@Hopewishprayer im glad everything was good and yes that is shocking that they could make a mistake like that! You have a lot of willpower not finding out the gender! But I am over the moon for you happy halfway 🥰 x

Stopthatnoisemummy · 13/07/2023 19:23

@Hopewishprayer glad all OK, despite their mistake!

@Vallef thanks, work is so draining at the moment I'm hoping I'll just crash out tonight rather than stake awake worrying all night...

gulph · 13/07/2023 19:27

@Hopewishprayer so glad everything went well! Reading your experience has actually settled my nerves slightly. Sure tomorrow when it's time to go in it will be back full force but I may be able to get some sleep at least!
Is it the badger app that you are using now? At my last midwife appointment they said everything would be moved onto the app but still feel like I need to take my physical notes with me tomorrow!

Ladies, who is finding out what they are having?

We have opted not to xx

gulph · 13/07/2023 19:35

Not finding out here 💛

OP posts:
CR7 · 13/07/2023 19:36

@gulph no one can believe we aren't finding out. I think it's just because they want to know 🤣🤣

gulph · 13/07/2023 19:40

I know! I'm normally really impatient but for this, I love the guessing. We have guessing lists with each group of friends/family members!

@gulph @BrownXeyes good luck with your scans today, looking forwards to hearing your updates later on.

@CR7 @gulph we are hoping to find out sex today. Like you both, we didn't with our first as wanted something non medical about the whole process and we decorated naturally (yellow) and not really into stereotypically gendered clothing. I ended up having an emergency c section under GA so don't remember finding out at all, and had to keep asking what we had had! DH wanted to know last time but I was set on being a surprise, but I'm less set this time and DH would still rather know, so have agreed. Also from a practical point of view of sorting clothes we've stored it would be helpful to know, plus DD is telling everyone it's a boy so good to get ahead of that if it in fact isn't! I found all the sonographera great (including during some extra scans I needed) and told me to look away from the screen when there was any risk of seeing anything that could give it away. Don't read anything into any health professionals calling baby he or she, they do that to avoid calling baby 'it!'.

BrownXeyes · 14/07/2023 07:01

@Stopthatnoisemummy thank you good luck to you too hope all is well and the morning doesn’t drag! Xx

gulph · 14/07/2023 08:03

Eakkkk an hour and 40 mins for us!

OP posts:
Hopewishprayer · 14/07/2023 08:08

@gulph yes it is the badger app I have, I don’t have any physical paperwork. Good luck, not long to go! I am sure all will be well and you can relax and enjoy x
@BrownXeyes @Stopthatnoisemummy also good luck to you both, look forward to seeing your updates x

CR7 · 14/07/2023 08:23
