Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

Stopthatnoisemummy · 18/05/2023 16:34

@greentreeseverywhere oh how disappointing for you. Glad the rearranged date isn't too far away

Stopthatnoisemummy · 18/05/2023 16:37

@CR7 I had the standard nhs bloods, the ones they combine with the measurement from the 12 week scan and your age (or age of eggs when embryo created). It then gives you a risk for the three main trisomies.

Just had a Google to check exactly what is tested and it says "The two blood markers are: (i) pregnancy associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A); (ii) free ẞ-human chorionic gonadotrophin (free ẞ-hCG); and the ultrasound marker is: (iii) nuchal translucency (NT). In pregnancies with Down's syndrome, PAPP-A tends to be low, NT and free ß-hCG levels tend to be raised"

Thank you so much for this. I've done pgta but it doesn't rule everything out. Also as I'm 42 even more reason for me to test if I can. I'm planning on at least one private scan between my 6+6 next week and my 12 week. I'll basically do everything apart from gender xx

gulph · 18/05/2023 18:47

12 week scan done 😍

Measuring exactly to date at 12+1, they were able to see all organs were formed and in the correct place, my placenta is formed and working well and the fluid at the back of the neck was a perfect amount at 1.7 (anything under 3.5 is normal)
Had my combined blood test and will get a call if anything comes back as high risk.

Honestly ladies, I can't believe I'm here. It's so surreal.

I've already told so many people 😂 I'm a rubbish secret keeper! We had a few friends and most of our family following along our ivf journey and when we had our scan at 10 weeks, we started to tell the wider circle but I'm against Facebook posts etc after so many years of heartbreak of seeing people announcing here there and everywhere so we have decided that we will tell people if we see them and our first 'social media' post will be once the baby has arrived and there is something to tell people.

How is everyone else feeling?

@Solowannabemom that's abit shitty not being able to scan anywhere that's my fear coming back to the UK! Just try snd take it easy if the bleeding has stopped and cramping is better. I don't get why the clinic discharged you they usually look after you until 12 weeks. Coulndt they scan you as an emergency either??

@gulph Good luck hun and let us know how you get on super excited for you!!

@Infertilitylife welcome to the group and congrats :) it's scary coming back to the UK following treatment abroad as I was in the same boat last year. I recommend you call your nearest EPU and book an appointment because following ivf you do need that checking up more than when it's natural conceived. That way if you need anything you have ready support as triying to get an appointment when you actualy need them will only add stress to you when they can't fit you in. Also you will be able to get a scan out of it at 6 or 7 weeks x

@vallef
My clinic said they don't scan after 9 weeks i asked for scans but they said not procedure and kept saying go private. Which I kept trying to do, to no avail. I was so so sick today constant throwing up my doctor sent me to A&E and I have been admitted to the maternity ward. Got the scan I was waiting for anyway and one twin is no longer, it measured 8 weeks the surviving one is measuring at 10 weeks which would tie in with my dates.

It's been a tough day, but at least I am on IV fluids now so that's something. I'm devastated and so afraid now for the one surviving especially now with hyperemesis.

Bit numb to it all at the moment because I just feel so so sick.

I didn't get a chance to read anyone else's comments today. But I hope everyone is ok

LottSE20 · 19/05/2023 06:44

@gulph Congratulations, what a beautiful scan pic. It must be starting to feel so real now!

@Solowannabemom Im so so sorry, you poor thing. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. You are in the best place now and I really hope you get the help you need xx

CR7 · 19/05/2023 08:03

@Solowannabemom sending all the love to you xx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 19/05/2023 11:41

@Solowannabemom so sorry to hear about the twin. Hope they can get on tip of your HG and you can start processing it all. Take care of yourself

Vallef · 19/05/2023 20:06

@Solowannabemom I am so so sorry to hear that hun am sending you love and strength and just try to concentrate on the surviving one. Hospital is the best place to be to get you back to as much normal health wise as you can be. I know it's hell what your going through but try and sustain your strength for the baby xx

Vallef · 19/05/2023 20:24

@gulph that's amazing the scan is so clear hun so happy for you :) you can now tell us what the 2nd trimester holds!

I've lost my appetite entering and whilst under any other circumstances I would say brilliant I could do with losing some weight am worried am not eating enough as am forcing my self. To be fair I feel better after eating the nausea subsides and then comes back after an hour but just generally the idea of food physicaly revolts me which feels so strange!

Solowannabemom · 19/05/2023 20:46

Thanks everyone for being so kind. I started the cariban today so hopefully the sickness will start to improve. Just got to take it day by day, and keep my fingers and toes crossed the surviving twin stays growing and doing well. Its going to be a tough two week wait till my next scan, but I had a scan with the sonographer today so at least I saw the baby move and the heart flicker. It's hard to get my head around being sad and happy at the same time if that makes sense.

No nausea but no appetite here unless it's 4am x

So I have reached 12 weeks! 12+2 today 😬
ive now to stop taking my medication (progesterone, estrogen, blood thinner injections) I’m delighted to stop taking them - especially the pessaries!!!
however, rather nervous as my “12 week scan” isn’t until over a week away. I had a scan at 11 weeks and all was well.
im just worried that the placenta hasn’t yet taken over and then I stop the meds.
has anyone stopped before having the dating scan? X

laurapop · 20/05/2023 12:27

@Hopewishprayer with my clinic we take the medication til 12+6 just to give that buffer. Do you have any left you could just take for peace of mind? I'm sure it's absolutely fine if not though, I read the placenta takes over anytime between 10-12 weeks xx

I cannot wait to stop taking bloody cyclogest. Sadly have to take the blood thinning injections the whole pregnancy 😢

Me too I think xx

Pregnancyaftermiscarriage · 20/05/2023 19:36

Hi everyone, I’m currently 5w4d pregnant via IVF (Fresh transfer) and been having light brown/ yellow tinged discharge. I’ve checked with my GP and also the nurses at the IVF clinic and they’ve all said it can be quiet normal with an IVF pregnancy to get yellow or brown discharge, and only worry if there’s a smell/ pain/ itch etc which I have none of these.
I’ve got an early scan at 6 weeks next week booked with the early pregnancy unit due to my miscarriage last time at 16 weeks so I’m being monitored closely but I still can’t help but worry it’s the start of an early miscarriage even though both the GP and clinic have said it seems normal.

has anyone experienced this with good outcomes?

I’m using cyclogest but rectally do these aren’t causing the irritation.

attaching a photo (sorry for TMI) so you can see what it’s like, there’s never loads of it but it’s enough to see on a panty liner like this. Only like this once or twice a day.

Panic not.

The signs to worry -

Red blood, filling a pad.

This is normal. I rang them when I had this. Try to relax. Although I am the same when I occasionally have this every few days xx

I am 6+2

Vallef · 20/05/2023 20:45

@Pregnancyaftermiscarriage I still have this at 7w literally every day and red spotting every 4 days. I also had a miscarriage at 6 weeks on my last IVF so do understand but you have to keep calm because I find the more I wind my self up the worse I get. I still suffer from cramps daily and brown discharge which can be stringy and like coffee grounds. The clinic said its all normal part of the embryo just settling in xx
