Hi lovely's

Starting a new thread for those that have gone through ivf and are in the early stages as appreciate we have different anxieties maybe to other groups.

I'm Gayle, I had a fresh transfer on Monday the 13th March and I am currently 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. First test showed 1-2 weeks, last weeks test showed 2-3 and next test due on Wednesday (clinic have recommended a test a week until early scan) early scan is on the 14th April.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for nearly 10 years. We fell pregnant naturally 6 years ago, however after some bleeding at 8 weeks, i went for an early scan and was only dating between 5 and 6 weeks so had to go back in a further 2 weeks to check if any development and the night before, I had a miscarriage. We haven't fallen since and following some tests, it was put down to make factor infertility and ICSI and was recommended however we could not proceed (privately) with my bmi so I started the hard work to lose 5 stone in May last year and hit my target in January 2023 to start our treatment.

I feel like there have been lots of barriers in our way so far. Nhs said no, due to my weight it was a no, due to the financials it was a no so to have anything with a yes now without having a massive battle, feels strange and like it's not quite true!

Symptoms so far - sore boobs, cramping, so hungry, feeling little bits of nausea but not sure if it is my mind or it is real

Feel free to tell me about your battle and how you are feeling

@LottSE20 positive thoughts 😘

Vallef · 16/05/2023 09:57

@LottSE20 am glad to hear mums on her way to you soon :) honestly my hubby's cousin who lives above our flat is due to give birth in July and she has a 2 year old who I can hear running up and down at like 1am I take my hat off for her don't know where she manages to find the energy for the pump and the lil one. She wasn't ivf but had alot of struggles to get pregnant suffered miscarriages and she was only confirmed pregnancy at 4 months due to complications. So having a 2 year old is lovely and a miracle but just hard work on top of the ivf. Be kind and of you don't know your limitations well just don't do anything at all other than put your feet up :) it's great to know you persevered with your first one I think it gives hope for new IVF individuals as well xx

Hi all,

I am 6w 6d today and just been for my first scan. Everything was okay and we saw a heartbeat flicker and measurement was ok too. So grateful!

He said I had en enlarged left ovary with multiple cysts though which can be common after IVF... has anyone else had this? Do I need to do anything? Can someone stop me panicking please Confused I asked him if I needed to do anything but he didn't really answer, just said they will check on my next scan.

Thank you! x

CR7 · 16/05/2023 16:27

@bringmesunshine99 no idea about the second part but wonderful that you saw the heartbeat.

I would call the clinic and book a call with the dr xx

Ahh, Thank you so much! I was meant to go tomorrow but had to bring it forward a day.

I have emailed my clinic in Czech Republic to see what they say, will do a bit more research when I get home too, just on the way back from the scan now x

Hopefully all will be okay! x

BrownXeyes · 16/05/2023 19:24

@Stopthatnoisemummy everything ok with you? I haven’t heard from you for a while xx

Stopthatnoisemummy · 16/05/2023 20:18

@BrownXeyes thanks for checking in, I've been keeping an eye on the thread and everyone's updates, just not had the energy to post. Combination of crippling fatigue, insomnia, DD in the terrible twos, my pain condition flaring up and new job is just wiping me out!

I had the bloods for my combined screening yesterday, and scan a week on Fri, so counting down the days.

How are you? Have you got a private scan coming up? When is your nhs one?

BrownXeyes · 16/05/2023 20:26

@Stopthatnoisemummy Aww bless you! I just wanted to check in on my OG! I know what you mean with the fatigue I am still falling asleep on the couch most nights. I had insomnia one night but luckily no more! Ahh the terrible twos I remember my step son went through it - it’s certainly a treat!! Is it your NHS scan on Friday? How did the bloods go?
I had a second private scan yesterday and all was ok - my
NHS 12 week scan is on the 30th but I’ll be 13 weeks by then.
you will have to let me know how you get on on Friday! Xx

I'm at the insomnia stage. Five nights I've not slept past 2am once x

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this.... I'm currently exactly 10weeks with twins, yesterday out of nowhere I got extreme nausea and cramping, spent the whole day and night getting sick, I could barely get myself out of bed It was so painful to move, my stomach feels like it's in bits from all the throwing up. I tried to get a doctors appointment to no avail I have been trying for the last three weeks to get an early scan I have tried all my nearest cities but there is nothing available until after my booking scan on the 30th I even rang the hospital and begged them to see me early but they were happy that I had a scan at 7 weeks and said I have to wait. I am so afraid that I have had a missed miscarriage something hasn't felt right for the last few weeks and the IVF clinic keep reminding me how high risk I am, how i need an early scan etc. It all feels out of my control and I am a nervous wreck but yesterday really really frightened me and I am more worried than ever that something has gone wrong. The pain today has eased a little bit and the throwing up has stopped at least but I have not tried moving around yet. Think it's worrying me more how it was so bad yesterday and not so bad today like it's all over or something I don't know what to think.

Get yourself a private scan. Loads of places offer them and the peace of mind will be worth it xx

Vallef · 17/05/2023 13:38

@Solowannabemom hey hun that sounds horrible! Obviously cramping is absolutely natural especially with twins your body is making double the adjustment is would usually need to do. I've had cramping from day 1 and some days it's horrible. I have been through a miscarriage and know its scary as that's a sign but I woulndy jump to the worst. Can you not go back to your clinic? Also maybe contact your nearest early pregnancy unit? Surely this is normal circumstances and you should be seen as an emergency? Otherwise maybe just go to your nearest A&E for peace of mind or pay private for a scan?

No my clinic discharged me they follow up a lot asking about private scans but I just haven't been able to get one anywhere. I have tired loads of places to get a private scan the only place that said would fit me in before my booking scan needed a referral and the clinic sent that for me at the start of last week and they still have no appointment available. I don't understand how everywhere is so busy. As it's eased a bit today I feel a bit silly to present to A&E I will try my own Doctor again tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment, she also sent an urgent referral to one of the big hospitals for an early scan when I was 7 weeks and again I have heard nothing from them. I also had previous miscarriages and this pregnancy the cramping has been so bad from the start it's really frightening, but I have never experienced a day like yesterday. I keep telling myself there is two or well there was two at 7 weeks that's why so much cramping but at the back of my mind I hear the doctor in the clinic say well this should never of happened at your age and with your issues its unheard of for both embryos to implant and to be realistic about the potential outcome. So that has my head in a mess too.

Sorry I am ranting a lot just yesterday really frightened me.

Infertilitylife · 17/05/2023 13:54

Hello, hope it’s ok for me to join 😊

I had a frozen transfer at the start of May (treatment was in Prague) and started getting positive tests 5days past transfer. I’m now 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant (very early!). This was my first attempt at IVF/transfer which we needed due to male factor issues.

I just find myself worrying constantly. I’m going to have a scan at 7 weeks just to double check everything so hopefully that will help.

CR7 · 17/05/2023 14:03

@Infertilitylife I'm six week tomorrow. Also anxious. More in fact than I was during the two week wait! This was my third round of ivf.

I've had my hcg blood results back and both tests look great but I think the anxiety is normal for us both so try not to be too hard on yourself xx

gulph · 17/05/2023 18:17

Awwww I remember being 4 weeks I was a mixture of not believing I was even pregnant and being totally petrified! My fingers and toes crossed for everyone.
I've hit a milestone today - I am now officially 12 weeks pregnant and have my 12 week scan tomorrow (tested negative for covid today thankfully!)
This stage felt like it would never come 8 weeks ago and it's thanks to everyone's support 💗

Good luck today @gulph, it must feel like such a great milestone? Do you think you’ll start telling people or do they know already? I had to tell my job share partner at work because of the scare but otherwise I’ve kept quiet as too anxious!

@Infertilitylife congratulations and welcome!

@Solowannabemom that's abit shitty not being able to scan anywhere that's my fear coming back to the UK! Just try snd take it easy if the bleeding has stopped and cramping is better. I don't get why the clinic discharged you they usually look after you until 12 weeks. Coulndt they scan you as an emergency either??

@gulph Good luck hun and let us know how you get on super excited for you!!

@Infertilitylife welcome to the group and congrats :) it's scary coming back to the UK following treatment abroad as I was in the same boat last year. I recommend you call your nearest EPU and book an appointment because following ivf you do need that checking up more than when it's natural conceived. That way if you need anything you have ready support as triying to get an appointment when you actualy need them will only add stress to you when they can't fit you in. Also you will be able to get a scan out of it at 6 or 7 weeks x
