@38andtrying good luck for tomorrow!

Had my sickest day yet yesterday. Anything that went in my mouth came right back up again. I was on a 12 hour shift, and I’m an air traffic controller, so I can’t just run off and find a toilet, because I’m controlling 20+ airplanes at a time from my screen. It’s awful, the amount of times I gagged. Luckily we get an hour break every hour, so I spent every hour in the bathroom throwing up.

had to call in sick this morning because I couldn’t bare another day like that. Also, after not keeping anything down my energy is even lower.

had first appointment with my OBGYN this week, my iron is really low, as is my blood pressure (no wonder I almost fall down with dizziness every time I stand). I am on iron supplements but can’t stomach them.

anybody else have experience with low iron and blood pressure? I’m vegetarian so won’t eat meat, but couldn’t even if I wanted to as it’d probably come back up.

currently 10+5, and I’m running out of sick days at work!

Mldn · 13/04/2023 18:30

@vix_85 thank you. I’ve been having feelings in my tummy this week - not painful but like stretching & pinching, so I’m assuming normal as I’m 10+4 now. How far are you? X

@doozledog only a slight bit more, just in my underwear. Nothing when I wipe! I’ve email my EPU, I’m sure it a normal but. Enter safe than sorry! It’s such a stressful time. Cannot wait to be (hopefully!) mid pregnancy & not have these worries of the first trimester. It’s much worse than I ever anticipated & I think I’m relatively mentally strong.. defo not! How are you doing? X

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 13/04/2023 18:50

Thank you! Good luck tomorrow @SnookyPook @38andtrying.
Sorry about the blood @Mldn , could you have an ectropion developing also?
I was 7+2 today @greentreeseverywhere so we're only 1 day apart! I have heard from friends IVF babies are evicted before they can go over!

Mldn · 13/04/2023 19:34

@FlyingHighFlyingLow thank you! I’ve no idea what an extropion is? Every day is a school day at the min. I’ve had a UTI & bladder infection for the last week, so been on antibiotics. I emailed the EPU & they have offered me a reassurance scan on Wednesday, I already have a private scan booked that day. Unsure which one to attend, as feel like I’m wasting NHS time, but I find experiences with NHS a bit more professional than Window to the Womb, where my private scan is. I went there at 6 weeks & found it pretty cold & before I went in a woman came out crying her eyes out & was just shown the door! So I’m not sure I’d want to be there if something has gone wrong! I’ll monitor how I go & if it gets worse, I’ll go NHS I think. If not, I’ll cancel & free that appointment up for someone else & go private. Hope you are doing okay! x

LilmissCa · 13/04/2023 19:54

@Psqueak87 sounds like a hard day at work.. you do right to ring in sick!! Hopefully it starts easing soon for you.
I've had low iron & low blood pressure in last 2 pregnancies. I couldn't stomach the iron tablets at all in last pregnancy as I had HG. Have HG again now and just waiting for my first blood tests to be told I'm low. I got spatone in boots, it's liquid iron. So easier to take than the tablets. It kept me just at borderline which was good enough.
The blood pressure they were never overly worried about, just told me to get up slowly etc & to take salt if I wanted lol
I'd also low platelets to add in the mix in the last pregnancies.. no idea if related to iron & BP but they were more worried about that level.

Psqueak87 · 13/04/2023 20:08

@LilmissCa how long did your HG last? Did it subside at any point during the pregnancy? I can’t take most nausea tablets as there is a strict list of medication I can’t take due to work, even over the counter nausea tabs are out. I’ll see if I can find some liquid iron here, I’m living in Canada at the moment. I just can’t wait to feel good again! I always have low iron so it’s not too much of a concern for me, although paired with the low BP I think it’s adding to my fatigue.

LilmissCa · 13/04/2023 20:18

@Psqueak87 oh yes I mind you saying that now in previous message. Ahh that is super tough. In last pregnancy I started improving about 13wks, but was taking anti sickness, was off medication at about 17wks. Is there any other work roles you can do for a few weeks? Does work know about the pregnancy? In UK I would expect some support.

Psqueak87 · 13/04/2023 20:26

@LilmissCa no they don’t know yet, really trying to wait off until my 12 weeks scan and result of my NIPS test to tell them. NIPS test should be back in a week, and 12 week scan is April 20th. If I’m still rough next week though I think I’m going to have to tell one of the managers, just wish we had a female one to tell first. I don’t think there’s any other duties they could have me do, but they would probably be more available to take over from me if I start gagging whilst on the job, lol.

Spareincoming · 13/04/2023 20:39

@Psqueak87 I have notoriously bad iron levels and had iron infusion treatment previously; in pregnancy I can only
tolerate the oral iron spray which I take in separate doses spaced throughout the day. It’s definitely easier than the tablets and whilst my iron levels never get to the point of amazing, they’re pregnancy level ok!

vix_85 · 13/04/2023 20:55

@Mldn based on LMP I'm 7+3 so a few weeks behind you. Hopefully all fine and scan last week was fine, I just overthinking everything.

I'm currently having a eurgh moment too, as I'm already overweight but always felt confident, but I am so insanely bloated and uncomfortable, nothing fits comfortably and I feel like a potato 🥔 🙈😞 a nauseous, anxious potato.

Mldn · 13/04/2023 21:06

@vix_85 oh I’m with you there! I’ve lost maybe 5lbs since pregnancy but feel worse than ever! I’m usually in a size 10 comfortably but nothing fits - even though I’ve lost a few pounds. The bloat is unreal! Im going to Spain for a few weeks soon also.. dreading a bikini or any summer clothing. I’d rather the real bump hurry up so I don’t just look like I’ve ate 10 loaves of bread for breakfast! Those feels mixed with pregnancy anxiety are a perfect mix for the daily tears on my side 😩 x

Psqueak87 · 13/04/2023 21:26

@Spareincoming oh interesting, my OBGYN suggested considering an iron transfusion, but it costs $800 a time here. Did you just do it once? He also told me that iron tablets are as good as useless so if they’re making me sick to just stop taking them.

vix_85 · 13/04/2023 21:42

@Mldn I wish I was a size 10 to start with but its all about how we feel in our skin isn't it. A feeling of 10 loaves of bread is exactly right! 🎈📌💨

Mldn · 13/04/2023 21:55

@vix_85 Absolutely! I’ve always been petite. So how I am now is bigger than usual, so I am far from confident. But yeh - now mixed with the most insane bloating, defo not feeling good in my skin!! Hope you feel better soon. My bloating has really peaked the last week or two x

Spareincoming · 13/04/2023 22:07

@Psqueak87 ive had a few thanks to an on going health issue and the wonders of the NHS.
Can you get the sprays at all? 4 sprays of pomegranate flavoured stuff under my tongue per day is enough for me!

LilmissCa · 13/04/2023 22:38

@Psqueak87 just took my nightly antiacid tablet.. maybe thats something you could try. It's def helped me.

Psqueak87 · 14/04/2023 00:44

@LilmissCa I’ll try an antacid! Thank you! I hadn’t yet as I don’t feel my sickness is related to heartburn or anything, but I’ll try anything if it might help.

@Spareincoming did you have any side effects from it? I would consider it if my levels drop lower, which my OBGYN thinks it will. I’m technically not quite anaemic at the moment, although I have been before so I assume it’s coming.

Psqueak87 · 14/04/2023 01:29

Just realized I’ve dropped from 138 to 133lb - something I’d usually be happy about. I’m assuming most of us with nausea are losing weight? I just can’t wait to enjoy food again: today I’ve eaten some crackers and a can of coke. Just about to cook my hubby dinner and even the thought of it is making me nauseous.

Sb86 · 14/04/2023 09:04

All the best for those having scans today, will be thinking of you ❤️

SaladLeaves · 14/04/2023 09:10

Hi ladies! Hoping someone can help advise… I’m 7+2 today and had a small amount of red blood on the first wipe this morning. Obviously my head is racing and catastrophising! However I know spotting can be relatively normal in the first trimester.

I’m just wondering - who do I contact if this continues? I’ve not had my booking appointment with the midwife yet, so I don’t have an EPU. Do I call my gp? Of course hoping I won’t have to, but also being realistic… This is my first pregnancy, so realising I know very little about the system.

NatGee · 14/04/2023 09:12

@Psqueak87 yes ive lost weight too, its normal in the first trimester because of what you say, nausea and sickness.

Fairylight102 · 14/04/2023 09:15

@SaladLeaves In my area the EPU is a walk in service so you might be able to just go there. See if you can find out online, or I’m sure if you call your local maternity service or GP they’ll be able to tell you. Hope everything is ok xx

Sb86 · 14/04/2023 09:16

Hey @SaladLeaves hopefully it was a one off but if it continues then just try ring your EPU direct. You may need a referral but I know at mine it's a direct number for anyone to get in contact. Fingers crossed you don't need to ring anyone ❤️

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 14/04/2023 09:17

@Psqueak87 I've lost about 8 pounds from not eating 🙈

@SaladLeaves yes call the GP. I did the same as I had red blood and pain. Scan at EPU yesterday at 7+2 and all was good, likely cervical ectropion

Lotsofloss · 14/04/2023 09:19

Urgh guys I am so so worried. I had a TFMR last year after finding out our LO had T21 and some other issues. This was first picked up on at 12 week scan with high NT reading. I went for a 10 week reassurance scan yesterday because I have also had 2 MMC and I was sooooo relieved everything was ok (they just checked heartbeat and baby measurement not NT) but and was so happy last night. now I’m looking at the photo this morning and I can’t help see that the NT fluid looks really high?! That gap at the back? Do you see it. I’m going to be in such a panic now for 2 weeks. I’d honestly like honest opinions or if you have a 10 week scan to compare too. This is so stressful.
