Any older mums get pregnant the week after their period? I am wondering if my ovulation cycle is off due to age but I swear I conceived a week after my period??

MrsLEM8 · 30/03/2023 14:13

@TAW2502 it’s horrible, I’m sorry it’s happening to you also, everything crossed for your scan next week… it’ll come round quickly enough, even through time moves unbelievably slow during the first trimester!

I will see how the rest of the day goes and call the GP tomorrow for a referral - they don’t seem interested before six weeks which I suppose is understandable.

@MooseWL @NatGee thanks both, despite every pregnancy being different, it’s definitely somewhat reassuring knowing there are a few of us experiencing the same thing.

Travellingislife · 30/03/2023 16:25

@flowerlover1990 I actually can’t believe this, I’m not feeling nauseous any longer! She said my body is in imbalance, that’s why I’m feeling queasy and then she “balanced me”. She said I probably won’t need it again. I’ll keep you posted if it actually lasts but for now I’m very happy! I would recommend it to anyone. I’ve tried acupuncture previously to help with fertility but was seeing another lady who I didn’t click with, with this one it felt right and I think that’s also a reason I responded so well to the treatment.

flowerlover1990 · 30/03/2023 17:26

@Travellingislife That's amazing. I'm so pleased you're feeling better, what a relief 😅. You've definitely convinced me to give it a go, I'll do some research tonight and see if I can find anyone in my area that does it. Keep me posted but enjoy your nausea free evening 😁 x

Sb86 · 30/03/2023 18:32

Thanks @Travellingislife you've definitely inspired me to try it, it's got to be worth a shot! It's debilitating feeling like this 24/7 😔

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 30/03/2023 19:43

Feeling the same as a lot of you today! In a panic as not feeling nauseous today and feel I have more energy which is worrying but telling myself it'll be ok. Can't wait for my scan next Friday...

NatGee · 30/03/2023 20:10

Got myself an acupuncture appointment but not until next Wednesday :( cant wait! this nausea is so debilitating

38andtrying · 30/03/2023 20:26

@ExcitedandNervousC1 exactly same today, how far are you? I'm 7w+1

38andtrying · 30/03/2023 20:26

@ExcitedandNervousC1 sorry that should have been 7w+3

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 30/03/2023 21:52

@38andtrying I'm just a slight bit behind you at 6+6 so will be 7w tomorrow.have a scan next Friday at 8 weeks which was when my last MMC was discovered in November so am very nervous!

BudgetBuster · 30/03/2023 22:50

Best of luck next week. I know it's difficult but try to remember this is a different pregnancy, with a different outcome @Excited@ExcitedandNervousC1

Spareincoming · 30/03/2023 23:28

Just told my parents. One of whom has a likely terminal cancer diagnosis looming and several worsening life limiting Co-morbidities.
Nome of us seemed thrilled with the conversation but what can you do.

NatGee · 31/03/2023 08:48

@Spareincoming I am sorry to hear the conversation didn't go better. I hope you and your DP are thrilled and that's really what matters in the long run x

Spareincoming · 31/03/2023 08:53

@NatGee i think we’re all pleased; but the reality of the situation takes the shine off and in any other circumstance my parents would be over the moon but have a lot to manage at the moment.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 31/03/2023 09:03

I am 7+1 today and I have a private scan booked for tomorrow afternoon because we are visiting family and would like to tell them in person as we likely won’t see them again for a while.
I am feeling very nervous though, after a trip to EPU last week, which seemed positive at the time. Sac, yolk, fetal pole and a flicker of a heartbeat were just about visible with a lot of poking and prodding, but now I am second guessing it, as the measurement was small when I’ve googled and I am worried what will be visible tomorrow … I know that worrying wont change anything, but I can’t get out of my own head!

NatGee · 31/03/2023 09:22

@BabyBabyBaby123 I know the feeling, its tricky isnt it. We just had a big family visit this last weekend and we would have loved to tell everyone in person but I was only 7w and decided it was just too early. We will have to tell them via whatsapp unfortunately when the time comes. Also seeing family again tomorrow and will be keeping quiet. i wonder how id feel though, having had a scan? because I haven't had one, I have no idea whats going on in there but had I known I wonder if id be more confident in sharing the news?

BabyBabyBaby123 · 31/03/2023 09:41

We announced DD2 at 8 weeks-ish after a scan at 7+4, because it was our wedding and everyone would have known anyway with me not drinking 🙃 So this is a similar situation, but I had to go to the EPU this time for some light spotting so I think that added stress is what is freaking me out!

Travellingislife · 31/03/2023 10:01

@flowerlover1990 @Sb86 @NatGee
my nausea have returned 😫 although not as severe which is positive! I think you should definitely try it as it seems to have helped so many people with morning sickness.

NatGee · 31/03/2023 10:18

@Travellingislife oh! yes that is certainly a positive, maybe you need another visit after all?

Chellooo · 31/03/2023 10:20

Called the doc this morning as couldn't face feeling like absolute death any more. He's prescribed cyclizine so I'm hoping and praying they preform a miracle

Mrsrobinsonx · 31/03/2023 10:53

So I had my appointment today at epu and they saw a baby in the right place with a heartbeat! Measuring around 6+2 which is a couple of days earlier than the nhs website says. They also saw an area of bleed which explains the spotting and maybe more to come.
But super glad that it’s looking good right now 🤞🏻

NatGee · 31/03/2023 11:01

@Mrsrobinsonx aw excellent, hope your mind is at ease now :D

Travellingislife · 31/03/2023 11:05

@NatGee Hmm I might do, she is fully booked until end of April though.
@Chellooo ah I hope it’ll help you, that’ll be my next step if this gets worse.
@Mrsrobinsonx congratulations! Great news!

Travellingislife · 31/03/2023 11:09

@KellyJean I’m 41 and I noticed my ovulation hasn’t been that regular, some months I ovulated on day 18, now when I got pregnant I ovulated on day 14. I think you can definitely conceive a week after your period.

Travellingislife · 31/03/2023 11:12

@KellyJean I meant to say that day one of your cycle is the first day of your period so if you have a 5 day period and ovulate a week after that it’ll be around day 12 which isn’t uncommon.
