Thinking of you today @AnnieApple123 . I hope they have the results back this afternoon and can shine more light on what’s going on sooner rather than later. It seems from your messages that everything is moving very quickly since the scan which is reassuring.
What were your holiday plans? Anything that can be easily rearranged?
Sending lots of love your way ❤️

JT2021 · 29/03/2023 15:15

Hi all - hope everyone is okay and sending you lots of love and luck today @AnnieApple123

Back from my holiday - all that fuss for a fit to fly letter for nothing! I must not look pregnant enough 😀missing the sunshine already, that’s for sure!

Had my second anomaly scan today as baby boy was stubborn last week and wouldn’t show us his heart… managed to get a decent scan of the heart today and all looking good, so anomaly scan all good and signed off! Another milestone done, feel very relieved that it went well today as it’s hard not to worry and obsess over these things.

DesertSnow · 29/03/2023 19:57

@AnnieApple123 So sorry to read about your update, what a stress. Really hope you get some clarity soon.

BCxx · 29/03/2023 20:16

@AnnieApple123 hope today went okay 🤞🏼

@JT2021 aw good 😊 glad the scan went well! That’s exactly the same as me last time and it was all okay when I went back, think it must happen a lot. Definitely a relief to not need to go back though

AnnieApple123 · 29/03/2023 20:49

Thank you everybody for your good wishes. Sorry I haven’t updated as I still don’t have much more info. The consultant is trying to push for me to have an MRI scan tomorrow but I’m still waiting for confirmation of this. Hopefully I’ll hear in the morning. It may show a problem which is conclusive. Or it may not and I’ll have to continue having monitoring for the rest of the pregnancy to see how things develop. Neither way are we going to be out of the woods unfortunately. @overwork thanks so much for the info on amnio. They are no longer recommending this as don’t think it will give any useful additional info in this situation.

BCxx · 29/03/2023 20:58

@AnnieApple123 hopefully you’re able to get some sort of answers or reassurance at least then just take the further checks in pregnancy one step at a time if needed. Must be such a worry just now when they don’t seem to be able to tell you much yet, hope you’re managing okay and have been able to see the therapist still in amongst all that

sally16 · 29/03/2023 21:02

Coughed, wet myself and slipped the clutch at the same time today.
And bumped into someone's car 🫠

I have had enough.. officially shattered 😭

UsernameNotPresent · 29/03/2023 21:47

@AnnieApple123 stay strong, lovely. Sounds like you are in good hands, I've got everything crossed for you.

@sally16 oh no, hopefully there wasn't much damage to either cars/people. I am still getting over the viral lurgy and have an almighty cough, which causes me to wee my pants a little... Honestly, I thought my pelvic floor was better than that 😂🙈 but it makes me feel better I am not alone with this in this pregnancy 😬😬

overwork · 29/03/2023 22:18

Oh @sally16 - trying not to laugh but that's one heck of a day.
Have you gone off work yet? You sound like you need the break!

@AnnieApple123 I did half wonder whether an amnio could show an infection, I guess they're trying to work out the best way to get to the bottom of it for you.
I really hope you're not in limbo for the entire rest of the pregnancy.
I only know MRI from a work point of view but we do prenatal MRIs at the hospital I work at as follow up for potential issues picked up on ultrasound - it's a safe non invasive test. (Hence I've been begging my GP to order one for my knee!)!

BMK · 29/03/2023 23:06

@AnnieApple123 you must be exhausted.. Do you have any feeling on it yourself ie that it's ok or otherwise? It's frustrating no that they suggest there might be sth serious, or not serious and have you worried to your gills, yet nothing shows up so you're searching for what might be and in a state of constant uncertainty : which is probably the state you most don't suit. Ok well hopefully tm. And I hope you can sleep. Much ❤

@overwork ,can you not get a private knee MRI?

@sally16 ,oh my goodness ..no no: you're working too hard,I echo what @overwork, I think, said re you need to take time off for you!!!! It's v distressing and horrible to feel you caused sth,but once everyone is ok,all else will be a distant memory soon; even if it feels awful right now. Sending ❤ to you too. You seriously need to take time off though.

overwork · 29/03/2023 23:08

Yeah I could I suppose but I refuse to, I work in the same department, and I've been recommended one by a physio. I shouldn't have to.

sally16 · 29/03/2023 23:14

@overwork @UsernameNotPresent @BMK thanks ladies but we were both fine! If my number plate wasn't bent I wouldn't have believed it happened as I didn't even feel it, I'm off on annual leave but DS isn't well so was getting him early from nursery 🤦🏼‍♀️ next to no damage, just ruined my day 😅

My mh midwife thinks I need to take some time off after annual leave as I don't sound very relaxed but I'm gonna see how I feel once I'm back to work! I feel like I need a break from my house right now 😅

LBF2020 · 30/03/2023 08:54

Hi all, haven't been on for a while. I'm so sorry to hear about your worries @AnnieApple123. It sounds like you are getting some really good care so hopefully you'll get some answers soon, the feeling of being in limbo must be horrible.

As a side note I had an mri (brain) when I was 6 or 7 weeks pregnant. They weren't able to use the dye contrast to make the image clearer because of the pregnancy but they seemed happy for me to go ahead. So @overwork I hope you can get booked in. It does seem really unfair that your GP is blocking it.

BMK · 30/03/2023 09:58

@overwork can you just get it scanned by a colleague then,or alternatively report your doctor to the Medical Council. Or perhaps write informing your doctor that if s/he continues to refuse to refer you foe an MRI that you are going to issue a formal complaint to the Medical Council

overwork · 30/03/2023 10:08

Have done the complaint (they are meant to respond in 4 weeks and of course haven't). My colleagues are happy to put a scan through but it wouldn't be of much help without the rest of the referral, I will need surgery and physio etc. GP is very much of the belief that I should put up with it because I am pregnant and don't want to harm the baby. He doesn't seem to appreciate that firstly, I am the patient here not the unborn child and secondly and I'm very well aware that MRI would do nothing of the sort.

AnnieApple123 · 30/03/2023 10:13

Thanks everyone. There are so many encouraging words here. The last few days have been quite surreal. My old therapist has been amazing and rang me on Tuesday night after I’d texted her to let her know what was going on. The consultant then rang this morning just before 8am. What we’re dealing with is rare and nobody yet has been able to give us much idea of the relative odds of the various possible outcomes. Consultant has now identified the best source of knowledge as a professor at St. George’s so we are waiting to hear from his secretary. I am trying to remain optimistic and not think about the worst possible outcomes for the moment. Our holiday is definitely on-hold for now though unfortunately.

@overwork that’s encouraging to hear that you do a lot of fetal MRIs. Where do you work? I’d be interested to hear if you’re happy to share as have been told not many places do them. PM me if you prefer.

@LBF2020 thanks for sharing that too.

AnnieApple123 · 30/03/2023 10:58

@sally16 Thank you, that’s useful to hear that the anti-anxiety meds have worked well for you. I’ve been reluctant to take them so far but may reconsider now that things have changed so much.

OP posts:
BMK · 30/03/2023 11:34

Oh my goodness @AnnieApple123 ,surreal is the word!: this is like something in a film: how can you have had such research into rare conditions and have been anxious re sth occurring with you and now it actually is/might be.
You are an absolute trooper and so strong and pragmatic/logical.
I really really hope-as do we all- that you get answers today and positive news at the end. You poor thing. I suppose holiday is the last thing of relevance right now!!

sally16 · 30/03/2023 11:39

@AnnieApple123 my mh midwife told me I don't necessarily need to continue them after pregnancy too..
said I can wean down to the lowest then off completely if I feel better!
I suffered with PPD and PPA last time and refused treatment as I didn't understand they wouldn't take my child 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ this time I'm gonna continue them and see how I get on :)

Good luck!
You'd be surprised the amount of people you know that take something for anxiety xx

BCxx · 30/03/2023 12:07

@sally16 sorry couldn’t help but laugh 🙈 hope you’re okay! What a day

@AnnieApple123 @sally16 i went to my gp about possibly going on an ssri just before I fell pregnant but said I was hopefully going to be pregnant soon. She seemed to be very anti using them in pregnancy and said unless I was basically suicidal she wouldn’t prescribe them. So many GPs seem to be quite happy to prescribe them/continue them in pregnancy and I looked up all the research myself but didn’t bother pushing it. I was on beta blockers to help me cope with work but it got to the stage I was having to take so many every day just to stop the panic attacks (before I was pregnant). I’ve now been signed off and I don’t need the beta blockers as I can cope with most social situations/events since I had the counselling. I’ll see what I’m like after baby arrives and might look at going on an ssri if I’m struggling again. I think so many people are on meds or go to therapy but only one of my friends has ever spoken about it!

sally16 · 30/03/2023 12:11

@BCxx I laughed when it was bedtime 🤣 I didn't laugh when my seat didn't dry oner night after I shampooed it 😂

sally16 · 30/03/2023 12:12

@BCxx also I was taken off my propananol that I liked for anxiety and moved to citalopram which is helping better tbh!
Some GPs are a bit over cautious with pregnancy so I've found the mh team better xx

BCxx · 30/03/2023 12:32

@sally16 i think that is bound to help better.. propranolol felt kind of short term and as if it was more a placebo effect than anything. I knew it was mainly caused by work so now I’ve eliminated that source of anxiety I’m much better and don’t need the ssri. Luckily I don’t plan to stay at my job after maternity or I’d probably be worrying about the fact I’m off. I’ve reached the stage I don’t care though after how ill it made me

Shinea · 30/03/2023 14:19

I somewhere felt movements around 18 weeks and it's been a week after and no movements yet!!
This is my second baby and I m not sure if I m so busy to sit idle and feel it or am I really not feeling a thing!!

Worried 😟

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 30/03/2023 17:10

Hi @Shinea I am 19+4 and haven't felt anything yet. Trying not to worry myself as well now!
