I think staying team yellow must be so hard! Part of me wishes I hadn’t found out this time because a surprise would have been lovely but I’ve always said if we had one of each then if there ever was a third we wouldn’t find out and just have a surprise then we’d have a small bundle of clothes ready for either 😊

AnnieApple123 · 26/03/2023 16:16

@CityKity I also definitely don’t think you’re being melodramatic and would feel the same. Also @Amme18 I know what you mean about feeling the pressure not to disappoint someone else re: gender. I’m a bit like this with my dad. I think my mum must have had words with him as he’s finally stopped going on about it.

I’m feeling so uncomfortable today - really breathless with lots of pressure in my chest. Has anyone else had this? I spoke to a midwife who said it sounds like the baby may have got itself wedged into an awkward position but to call back if it gets any worse. It does rather feel like something is pressing into my diaphragm and I’ve felt some kicks low down, so hopefully that’s all it is and it will shift soon.

@BMK Thank you, that’s quite a compliment and one I really needed today!

@CityKity I'm so sorry about all the stress, you definitely don't sound melodramatic. It's a shame the trainee spoilt it for you, know they have to learn but it is sad when it impacts a life event like this.

So after saying I was shattered because I'm sick it turns out I have COVID. I was working through my illness last week (from home thankfully so won't have infected anyone) but called in sick Friday afternoon because it was just so bad. I had a virtual meeting with the lady who punished me for having a childcare issue on the Friday morning which I definitely didn't want to miss because I knew she'd hold it against me even though I'm unwell but had to log off afterwards because it was so bad. Didn't really think to test until the weekend and yep, it's COVID.

I wish I got my booster now, it's so much worse this time than when I got COVID when I wasn't pregnant. I've decided I'm going to prioritise my health and the well being of the baby I'm growing and call in sick properly tomorrow though, even if the lady who has it in for me doesn't believe me. I really think she's made up her mind about me so damned if I do and damned if I don't.

BMK · 26/03/2023 20:35

@AnnieApple123 : I used get breathless but not sure about paying in chest, anytime I brought my then 1.25 Yr old for a.walk in the pram when pregnant (*from after midway I think). Mostly as part of walk was.up a bit of an incline but I'd also get it if I was tired/low on energy.

Weirdly today I have a v sore diaphragm, or under my diaphragm- don't think that's what you're referring to; mine feels.like it's just strained or stretched type sore. Like a.pulled muscle. I think it might be the effect of the weight of baby pulling on it whilst I've gone about cleaning, shopping, bringing in bags of shopping, cooking, stretching to washing line etc.
No pressure in chest though, it's lower

CityKity · 27/03/2023 10:00

@Marmaladebear thank you for the sympathy! With another day, I’m coming to terms with it and trying to convince myself that it’s pointless brooding on a trainees comment that may or may not mean anything at all. Baby steps!

I’m so sorry you’ve got covid and I can’t believe you just pushed through for a whole week at work! Not for a second should you feel guilty for taking sick leave this week, you really need it otherwise you’ll drag on feeling rubbish for even longer. You’re spot on, some people you can never please regardless if you bend over backwards to try and get into their good books, and this female manager sounds like one of those people. You need to put yourself and your health first!

overwork · 27/03/2023 11:23

I got my amniocentesis results - all clear for T21, 18 & 13 and sex based chromosomal disorders (I'm not sure what this means, only one I can think of is possibly Turners).
They decided not to check full array as the concerns they'd found didn't suggest anything else (kinda think they may as well have seeing as they had already taken the fluid but never mind).
Baby definitely still moving about in there, and after 1 more week the miscarriage risk will reduce to being the same as anyone else at this stage in pregnancy.
So I really am having a baby! Suppose we'd better start telling people...

sommeliermama · 27/03/2023 12:06

Congrats @overwork that's brilliant news!

overwork · 27/03/2023 12:42

Thanks @sommeliermama Smile

LS888 · 27/03/2023 13:15

Congratulations @overwork glad your test results were positive and now you can tell people 😊

BCxx · 27/03/2023 13:38

Aw great news about your results @overwork it’s definitely happening 😅

BMK · 27/03/2023 15:30

Delighted for the good news @overwork !

DesertSnow · 27/03/2023 17:26

Ah such brilliant news @overwork!

overwork · 27/03/2023 17:49

Thanks all, you have been a really needed support in lieu of any real life pals!
We're on our way to a mammas and papas now actually, don't think we'll buy but I have that list that I think @AnnieApple123 posted and as we don't have any better ideas, we'll be working our way through that! Grin

Marmaladebear · 27/03/2023 17:51

So please for you @overwork ! What wonderful news!!

@CityKity thank you! It sounds like we are both in quite high pressure jobs. Can't please some people they basically expect you to work throughout your annual leave/sick days... She'll probably ask me if my labour ward has WiFi 😂

So my last post was quite rant-y but feeling very excited today! I used my sick day to scroll through Airbnb and I think we found a villa we're going to stay in next year when me and my husband are both on parental leave together 🥰 we are very lucky my husband gets good parental leave. We didn't do anything exciting last time because of lockdown (not to mention money worries) but this time we're going to spend a month in Italy and fly each of our mums over for a week for a big family holiday 🥰 my son's childcare is so expensive that we basically break even doing this and we thought if we don't do it this time we probably won't get another chance. So very excited!! This isn't until 2024 when baby will be about 9 months and my son will be 3 almost 4 😍

overwork · 27/03/2023 17:59

@Marmaladebear what a brilliant idea!

BusyBushBaby · 27/03/2023 18:55

So glad your amniocentesis results were clear @overwork !

unluckyinlife · 27/03/2023 19:07

@overwork I'm glad you had such good news. I'm so relieved for you.

I'm having a run of bad luck at the minute, my son has a cold, daughter has chicken pox and an ear infection and my husband came home being sick after work today 🙃. So far I'm the only one standing!

Hoping I stay well as I'm a team member down at work at the moment and drowning in it!

I'm not sure if it's just me but I feel like this pregnancy I haven't had time to think about the pregnancy between the house Purchase, work and general house and family stuff I keep forgetting I'm pregnant too!

It's nice because the time is flying by, but I feel so unprepared, it doesn't feel real! X

BMK · 27/03/2023 20:39

@AnnieApple123 did you have your scan today and if so or generally hope you're OK as I know how you get anxious about these and therefore I doubly hope if it was today that all was well.

BCxx · 27/03/2023 20:54

@overwork did you get anything at mamas and papas? I really haven’t bought anything at all yet 🙈 but the fact I already have the big things from last time is making me feel like I don’t need to bother! I probably had the clothes washed and in the drawers at this stage last time 😂

unluckyinlife · 27/03/2023 21:12

Just a head up, amazon's spring sale is on!
I had nearly £300 of stuff in my basket (after sale price) I used the amazon wishlist 15% off. A free gift from amazon and a discount gift an amazon baby tester box and I saved £75!

My favourite buy is a medula swing (the new style) double breast pump for £99 down from 199 and a tommee tippee steriliser for just under 50 instead of 100!

After my post earlier I ended up thinking I'd start getting things to make me feel more prepared.

Ticked a sterlisser and bottles, swaddle bag, breast pump and a pumping bra off my list 😁X

overwork · 27/03/2023 21:14

We didn't make it through the door! We got distracted by IKEA and B&Q.
Tbf we probably need to sort out our storage before we buy too much.
And we need to really think about the big ticket items, we have zero space so we need everything to do at least one job but if possible be multipurpose, and ideally be foldable!

AnnieApple123 · 27/03/2023 22:25

Oh @overwork what a relief.

@BMK well done for remembering as I hadn’t mentioned it for a while. Yes my scan was this afternoon. This is going to sound so ironic as there I was so convinced something was going to be wrong (didn’t I even mention here blocking out the following day in case there was follow-up needed?) to the point where the psychologist was telling me I should seriously think about anxiety meds for my irrational fears. Well it turns out there is indeed a problem and we are going back into London in the morning to see a fetal medicine specialist. They are talking about scans now every 2-3 weeks and an MRI scan at 32 weeks. Just when I was hoping to avoid scans. It’s like I somehow knew. As I’ve already had a clear NIPT they’re thinking there could be an infection and I will likely have testing for this too. I am not googling though so don’t know much yet.

BCxx · 27/03/2023 23:26

Oh I hope everything is okay @AnnieApple123 and it just ends up being a precaution or if it’s an infection you manage to get it dealt with soon 🤞🏼 I know how much I’m sure you’ll be worrying, sending positive thoughts

BCxx · 27/03/2023 23:27

@unluckyinlife ive been looking at the medela one and don’t mind spending £100.. I’ve already bought the Elvie but then heard medela was better as it’s hospital grade so want it as well but they were all £200+ after already buying the really expensive one 🙈 I need a big box of mam bottles too so might see if they’re on it
