@BMK I keep getting lost but I'm still lurking and reading 😅 xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 14/03/2023 06:39

Thank you everybody for the congratulations 💙💙

BCxx · 14/03/2023 07:13

I’m selfishly hoping my friend and SIL will find out what they’re having as we’re due really close together and I’m a bit concerned about names 🙈 they both said they were finding out but now it’s came to the week of SIL’s scan she’s maybe not going to now or said she might but not tell anyone. I will be last out the three I think, just praying one of them doesn’t have a girl and use my name before me 😅 I’m sure the chances are pretty low but I’m just dreading having things ordered with her name and one of them use it right before 😂 I’d just have to bin it and pretend that never happened

unluckyinlife · 14/03/2023 08:00

@BCxx I had that exact thing happen with my first. My baby was born 3 weeks early and my cousins 6 weeks early (2 days before). They announced the day of my sons birth they had given their son the same first name and middle name as my son.

We already had ordered everything with his name. We kept with the name and to this day they've never met for a variety of reasons but neither of us had a problem with the other having the same name given they would never be in school together as we live about 40 mins apart x

BCxx · 14/03/2023 08:20

@unluckyinlife oh my goodness, what are the chances of that 🤦🏼‍♀️ I do think you are better just to go with the name you like and have picked rather than changing it because of someone else’s choice. We like two girls names and both are relatively unusual. I’ve never said either outloud to anyone other than husband and my mum but my friend said a load of names a few years ago and one of my names was in it. I’m just going to have to hope she doesn’t pick it 🙈

Rowanandremy · 14/03/2023 08:36

@P1pk mine lasts through the day too, especially if I try to sit predominantly on that side. I actually thought it wasn’t too bad yesterday but last night was awful, I was aware of it most of the night and now the skin feels tight and like it’s burning.

@BCxx hope that doesn’t happen for you, we briefly had that worry with my wife’s cousin (who is a sister to us). She’s had a beautiful little girl so not an issue now we’re having a boy but we it was a worry we had.

@unluckyinlife oh wow! I would have thought that liking the same first name would be kind of slim and unfortunate but to have chosen the same first and middle name. Good for you for keeping the names you liked though, we’ve always had ours named before birth (not necessarily everyone knowing the full name) so we’d have struggled to change them but with our families it would have been Drama inducing to say the least.

BCxx · 14/03/2023 08:56

@Rowanandremy oh that’s lucky, I think it’s so unlikely to happen but you just don’t want to get your heart set on a name and have it on things then someone uses it. Wishing I was first 😂

AnnieApple123 · 14/03/2023 21:44

Sorry to hear of so many people having various niggles and worries over niggles. I had some dark brown blood on wiping on Friday night (apologies if that sounds a bit grajust one of the worst possible times of course)

AnnieApple123 · 14/03/2023 21:49

Arrrggh, sorry pressed send too soon. I wish you could edit posts on here. Meant to say apologies if that’s a little graphic. It was on Friday night which of course is one of the worst possible times. It obviously caused a lot of anxiety so I’ve not been around. All thankfully seems to have settled down now though and the baby is moving lots, so all seems to be OK. At just before 20 weeks I went from not being entirely convinced I’d felt anything any at all to getting quite strong recognisable kicks within the space of a couple of days.

OP posts:
BCxx · 14/03/2023 21:55

@AnnieApple123 oh no, I bet that was a worry. I think old blood coming away is really common but definitely would have been scary to see. Glad all has calmed down now and you’re feeling movement. Can you feel them with your hand on the outside yet? I’m definitely feeling something on the inside but can’t feel them with my hand yet

AnnieApple123 · 14/03/2023 21:55

@unluckyinlife I’m also really enjoying having a surprise this time around. We found out with DS though so I totally get that mentality too.

OP posts:
AnnieApple123 · 14/03/2023 22:07

@BCxx Yes, amazingly you can feel from the outside. It’s like it’s suddenly gone from nothing to that.

As you say, dark blood is usually a lot less concerning than fresh. I had two episodes of spotting in the first trimester which also both turned out to be nothing significant. So I’m really trying to relax. I’ve started working with a clinical psychologist, as I’d got a bit stuck with the therapist I was seeing and needed someone to help with strategies rather than just provide a listening ear. I’ve now at last booked my anomaly scan for 22 weeks and have got an appointment booked with her for right after so we can discuss any new worries which arise from it. I’ll see her right after my next obstetrics appointment too.

OP posts:
BMK · 14/03/2023 23:38

Ooh @AnnieApple123 when is your anomaly scan? Also, sorry to hear: but brown not red and movement, so all OK! I totally agree re movement: I have gone from thinking I could feel something on andoff for a few weeks to,in the last week or 2,feeling very clear unmistakable turning/kicking or some form of baby antics! I'm just hoping it doesn't become all kicks and turns and action as I already have 1 child like that and wouldvery muchlikethis one to havea relaxed nature!!! Also @AnnieApple123 you have to be one of the most organised people I've ever encountered!!*you have looked into everything that comes your way and you have so many things under control and these are just the things I can deduce that are pregnancy related etc. I am in awe of people eho are so organised!!! I do look into everything but I am not ine bit organised!!

Marmaladebear · 15/03/2023 01:16

@AnnieApple123 sorry to hear about the blood and all of the stress that must have caused but glad to hear you can feel baby movements! Hope you're okay now 💕

My turn not to sleep tonight. Having a hard time at work - got my appraisal and positive feedback across the board (exceeds in every category) apart from one instance when I had a major childcare issue (had a pitch, kid was sick and not allowed in nursery and husband was abroad with work so had to get my elderly mother to travel to London so I could pitch... Pitch prep with a 2 year old=only being able to practice while he was sleeping).

Blindsided by the feedback as I thought team had understood my circumstances and I had done as much as I could (eg: working 7pm-midnight etc)... I've fed back that it's made me feel like you can't be a mother and do my role at the company, despite everything they say about being a family friendly firm and now I'm suddenly being told it was more than just that one instance that stopped me being promoted - something about me not yet having the whole package and "needing another year" which is nice and vague. My husband summed it up as them basically saying I don't have that je ne sais quoi which is I thought was a pretty perfect way to sum it up.

Sorry been trying not to talk about my work here but it's really impacting me... They've now organised external mentoring for me because apparently don't want to lose me and want to acknowledge my contribution to the company. I'll obviously take the mentoring but definitely don't feel like I have a future at the company.

BCxx · 15/03/2023 08:15

@AnnieApple123 that’s good you will have them to talk it through with! I remember the big movements starting very suddenly last time, I think it was 19 weeks I first felt a big kick so waiting for that. Wondering if they’ll actually feel like small kicks now when I was used to the kicks at the end last time.

@Marmaladebear sorry you’re having to deal with all of that. I think anyone who can do all that while pregnant is superhuman, even anyone who can stand up and give any sort of talk full stop 🙈

Createcomet · 15/03/2023 08:51

@Marmaladebear I'm really sorry you're going through that at work. Honestly, I think this society's expectation on pregnant women is ridiculous. It's so hard to juggle everything and especially if you have small children. It sounds like they're really keen to keep you on though and perhaps they're biding their time to promote you until when they know the baby is here and you are a little more settled?

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 15/03/2023 10:00

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time at work @Marmaladebear glad you spoke up about it though so they at least know the impact it has had on you.

Re movement I am nearly 18 weeks, hadn't felt anything up until today but then this morning I keep getting constant 'twinges' so I am not sure if that is movement or not. It isn't like the cramps/pain I have been feeling on the side of my stomach which I had put down to ligament pain. It is definitely more central of my lower abdomen, but when people said fluttering I expected it to be more gentle 😂 first time mum so absolutely clueless haha xx

sally16 · 15/03/2023 11:35

@MinnieFirstTimeMum ive stared getting movements but they feel like soft flutters, like he's trying to get comfy lol
Weird as I didn't gave anything till well after 20 weeks last time!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 15/03/2023 11:37

@sally16 mine are not soft flutters at all... either he is already proving to be a handful or these are something else haha. They're not painful at all but not comfortable either! First time I have had them though x

ChloeN · 15/03/2023 11:54

@MinnieFirstTimeMum does it feel like you’re being shoved? That’s what I feel sometimes, as if the babies whole body is like pushing into my side!

newmummie · 15/03/2023 13:34

Since 17 weeks now 18+3 my tummy has been twitching, feels like a twitch in my eye but in my tummy. Nearly sure it's baby, I hope anyways. But can't see anything from the outside as of yet.

Sjw30 · 15/03/2023 13:51

@newmummie thats how I would describe the feelings I’ve felt ☺️

LS888 · 15/03/2023 14:51

I haven’t been on for a few days so a lot to catch up on. Like others I have been having a little eye twitch the past few days- had no idea that could be pregnancy related! Also had a bit of heartburn at bedtime too. Definitely have an improved appetite but still off tea and coffee- for anyone else who has this too what do you have at a coffee shop?!

I have my scan on Friday. I have definitely popped and have more of a bump this week and I think I’m feeling movements but hard when it’s your first and all these feelings are new. A bit nervous about the scan on Friday but hoping it will be a positive experience. Good luck to everyone else having scans this week!

sally16 · 15/03/2023 14:53

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I didn't get long with big movements but when I did they felt like he was punching and pinching me 🤣😂

BusyBushBaby · 15/03/2023 15:12

@Marmaladebear that's total bullshit! So it's not just that one instance... but they can't give you any other examples? "You don't quite have the full package yet"... what's that supposed to mean?? They better not be promoting some personable but less competent white guy instead...
