Hi all! 😊

I got my bfp yesterday and although it's super early days (I'm only 12dpo), from looking at the NHS pregnancy calculator, I'd be due 2nd November...
Just thought I'd make this thread for anyone who has recently got their bfps and are due in November-time!

I thought we could use it to discuss how we are feeling, any symptoms/lack of symptoms we have etc. and just a safe place for a chat with people in the same boat!

Congratulations to everyone who have got their bfps and sending lots of sticky baby dust to all! 🤞✨💕

@Phoenix40 sorry to hear about what you're going through too - what are the next steps? Do you just have to wait for a bit? Xx

UnwieldyRhombus · 07/03/2023 13:42

EPAU said it's a miscarriage, unfortunately. I was a bit surprised to be honest, I thought they'd need to scan or something, but I guess maybe it's still a chemical if it's only 5 weeks? I found out 12 days ago and had been busy making plans 😔it just all seems to be over so abruptly.

It's been lovely getting to know you all. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancies - you will all have safe, healthy pregnancies and happy, healthy little November babies 😊

I've told my boss I'm not working for the rest of the day. I'm going to rest and have a cry. We plan to try again in a few months, so fingers crossed for that one!

SnookyPook · 07/03/2023 13:50

@UnwieldyRhombus oh I'm so sorry my lovely. Definitely take some time to process and mourn. Wishing you a healthy little rainbow when you're ready to try again. Sending massive hugs xx

Sb86 · 07/03/2023 13:50

I'm so sorry this is happening to you @UnwieldyRhombus I don't want to give you false hope because it could very well be a mc but it could also be a subchorionic hematoma. The group I am on over on fb has had a lot of women on there convinced they've miscarried and they haven't. I'm actually shocked that they haven't asked you to go in, maybe not to scan you but they could do bloods and get you in again in a day or 2. I'm praying for you and sending lots of love, also sending the biggest virtual hug 🫂 xx

Sb86 · 07/03/2023 13:51

Sorry to hear your news @Phoenix40 sending love and prayers 🙏🏼 ❤️ xx

Phoenix40 · 07/03/2023 13:57

@UnwieldyRhombus Sending love 🤍🤍🤍😔😔😔 I’m so sorry.xx but yea, they should at least do a scan…

thank you ladies. I need to wait a week. Is for a scan, but I’ll go tomorrow for another hcg blood test to see how and IF it is growing or it’s dropping. Will keep you updated 🤍

anna2101 · 07/03/2023 14:02

@Mamatobe2023 nice yes that looks like some good line progression :)

anna2101 · 07/03/2023 14:04

@UnwieldyRhombus that's terrible, sorry to hear :( finding out without something more conclusive like a scan must also not be easy. Hope you take all the time needed to process..

UnwieldyRhombus · 07/03/2023 14:08

Thank you @Sb86. I don't want to cling onto any hope (though at the same I do!)...they did ask if I had any questions and I wondered if I should ask if there was any possibility things might be ok but thought it sounded silly so I didn't. I think I'll keep an eye on the bleeding over the next day or so and maybe call them again if it stops. It is lessening now, but there was a lot of it 🤷‍♀️

They said take a pregnancy test in 3 weeks' time to confirm negative but I assume that's more like checking for complications/that I haven't retained anything rather than the small hope that it might have clung on?!

Bunbuns3 · 07/03/2023 14:08

I am 5.5weeks today, so due on the 2ndNovember. This will be baby number 3 for me. I have a 5 year old and a soon to be 2 year old. I shall be 45 next month, so a little anxious. This pregnancy has come as a surprise as my other two were ivf. I am hoping to book an early scan, maybe next week.

Sb86 · 07/03/2023 14:17

@UnwieldyRhombus yes it will be to check to see if it's negative due to like you say retained tissue. It just seems so uncompassionate to be so cut and dry about it, I know they were like that in A&E with me but they are totally different. You'd expect EPU to be better than that. Nothing will sound silly to them, they will have heard it all I'm sure xx

Sb86 · 07/03/2023 15:13

I've got my scan booked for 23rd of March when I'll be 6 weeks, so hopefully all is well up to then. Epu getting back to me with regards to putting me on progesterone...fingers crossed because at the moment I daren't do much in case it causes me to spot more.

anna2101 · 07/03/2023 15:42

How long did it take everyone to hear back re booking appointment (if you self referred online that is)? I filled in the form last Monday and haven't heard back yet. Im London based so don't know if that takes longer usually

i haven’t heard from them either.

Bubblemachiene · 07/03/2023 16:08

@Sb86 can I ask whats the progesterone for? Xx

For me it’s crazy that we are not checked the progesterone levels in the very first meeting and it’s such a simple way to prevent miscarriage from hormonal disbalance.

Sb86 · 07/03/2023 16:19

@anna2101 I registered online 1st of March on 'my pregnancy notes' and my account has been connected to my health notes today and the midwife has given me an appointment for booking in on the 11th of April.

@Bubblemachiene I've had a mc previously and they are linked to low progesterone levels. I was also spotting for upto a week before my af arriving, again another sign of low progesterone.

@Phoenix40 absolutely bonkers!! It's like they are playing god, it's very upsetting and frustrating!

Phoenix40 · 07/03/2023 16:19

Bubblemachiene · 07/03/2023 16:08

@Sb86 can I ask whats the progesterone for? Xx

I’m not @Sb86 but can answer. Progesterone is the hormone of the last menstrual phase responsible for either having a period (if it’s late) or to help the pregnancy ‘attach’ stronger. There are loads of women who suffer from too low progesterone levels and can’t keep the pregnancy and in these cases taking duohaston or luteine increases the levels giving pregnancy a better chance of survival.

here is from dr Google:Progesterone is a crucial hormone in the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy. In early pregnancy, progesterone is produced by the corpus luteum and suppresses the maternal immune system, enabling the embryo's survival.

Totally agree!
my first pregnancy was lost due to low prog levels, second one on duphaston and healthy full term baby. In the others there was no need for the support, but I asked the docs to check it.

Sb86 · 07/03/2023 16:25

@Phoenix40 I've had 3 babies when I was younger, my youngest is 14 in a couple of weeks. So my progesterone levels have most definitely dropped since then as I didn't have any problems with low levels back then.

Those pills make all the difference and I'm so glad they put you on them for your second baby, fingers crossed they will do the same for me 🤞🏼

Mldn · 07/03/2023 16:30

Same here - I sent to Homerton last Tuesday & nothing. Also called their hotline number & left two voicemails & nothing… @anna2101 @Phoenix40

Bubblemachiene · 07/03/2023 16:32

Oh OK, thanks I didn't know. Maybe I might call and ask for some, or do you think its safe to order them myself from somewhere (not even sure they can be)
Hopefully they help you @Sb86
Thanks @Phoenix40

It’s wiser to make a blood test to check the level (most private labs do it along with beta hcg) and if too low have the result seen by the obs or good gp (if yours is good) and they would prescribe. What I did, I made an app I. Private clinic with scan and the whole check up, it cost me £130 plus £45 for blood tests. Worth every penny because I knew that I did all to prevent missedcarriage due to a silly reason like the prog.level.
but I know it’s not easy to find a good doc.

Runnergirl1 · 07/03/2023 17:05

@UnwieldyRhombus i am so sorry they have said this to you. Not very compassionate at all. Stay strong lovely, you got this x

anna2101 · 07/03/2023 17:11

@Phoenix40 @Mldn I just called them and they said an appointment was booked last week but the confirmation just hasn't come through yet to my inbox. I got my booking appointment on the 24th of March and scan on the 21st of April. I noted it down but will follow up again I think if I don't receive actual appointment confirmation email by next week.
