Hi everyone, I know this is might be a bit early to start a thread but after more than 2 1/2 years of trying the overwhelming excitement is real!

Me and my husband lost out first at 10 weeks back in December 2020 and to be honest had kind of given up. I only peed on a stick at 16DPO because a banana repulsed me to the point of spitting it out! Trying not to be too excited or paranoid, but we'll see how that goes. 🤣

I've ordered the Pregnancy after Loss book by Zoe Coates Clark in an attempt to keep my sanity, but the going to the loo fear of seeing blood is real. And I've booked an apt to talk to my GP on Thursday at 5+3 to talk about whether or not progesterone would be appropriate.

Thankfully my husband is level headed and reminds me not to get too ahead of myself yet, but it would be great to meet others in the same boat for a hand hold.

@BellaBella38 that's amazing news re the scan! 🎊

@Singingloudforalltohear yes these days my feelings about all symptoms are that it's impossible to know whether they're good or bad. I try not to get worked up about any of it - and usually fail and get worked up about everything...

MrsF111 · 13/09/2022 19:51

Congratulations @BellaBella38 !!!

Singingloudforalltohear · 13/09/2022 20:51

Yes been having peppermint tea. I have a stash as I’m quite windy at the best of times!

Sorry I'm posting lots in the last 24 hours - still feeling lots of pinchy cramping, esp in lower left abdomen. Feel very full of gas. Did phone EPU earlier but they did not phone me back 🙄.

At the moment the cramps are not super painful, no bleeding etc. Just concerned about ectopic esp given the meds I was on increases the risk! Not sure they can even scan to rule out ectopic at my stage, if they do ever call me back!

Essexgalhere · 13/09/2022 22:02

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I’m sorry you’re having a hard time, I know what it’s like waiting and waiting on epu. I know it’s not ideal, and expensive with cost of living going up. But I did book and pay for a private 5 week scan the other day, didn’t expect to see much but you can tell if in the right place. Most are 6 weeks plus but a couple around my area are 5 weeks. It cost me £59

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 07:18

Thanks @Essexgalhere - feeling a bit better this morning as cramps have dropped and also took another test, which is a complete dye stealer.

Around here (Glasgow) they offer scans from approx 7 weeks so we have booked one for then. Just have to get through 2 work weeks then on holiday so hoping that it distracts us until then!

Melusina123 · 14/09/2022 07:55

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl Glad you're feeling better this morning. :) FWIW I think left side is more likely to be bowel because that's the side that the end of the bowel comes down on. Especially if the pinching is over right next to the hipbone.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 09:00

That is very handy knowledge @Melusina123 and between that and the tooting (😳) I suspect that's what it was!

Melusina123 · 14/09/2022 09:34

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I have been obsessively looking at pictures of female abdominal anatomy for the same reason. 😂 Still good to get a scan obv to rule out ectopic especially if you're higher risk, but for me I ended up concluding that it was probably has (am also v gassy LOL) and have now had a scan confirming pg is in the right place.

Janefx40 · 14/09/2022 10:14

Hello ladies. Can I join. I am currently 4w4d after my final ever embryo transfer.

I've had 3 chemicals, 1 MMC (technically missed as I didn't bleed but found out the day after the heart beat stopped at 8w5d) and 1 live birth.

I'm 45 and we have to do IVF so this is our very last attempt with an embryo that was tested so is technically viable (but they do make mistakes with these things and one of my chemicals was also a viable embryo).

I'm on a LOT of meds and with both the IVF clinic and a consultant in reproductive immunology and recurrent miscarriage but have taken all this stuff before and it didn't help much!

Been reading the thread and can relate. Sorry to those of you with additional worries. This is all so hard.

One minute I'm pleased because I feel nauseous and then I'm panicking because it could mean levels are too high! One minute I'm anxious because I don't feel anything and then I get cramps and decide it's ectopic. I'm basically nuts!

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I definitely had wind that felt like pain on my lower left side too.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 10:30

@Janefx40 I too am completely mad at present

EPAS phoned back. They were super super helpful and would like to scan to ensure it isn't ectopic and then offer a repeat in a few weeks

Janefx40 · 14/09/2022 10:39

That's great. When is your scan?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 10:48

@Janefx40 Monday at 11am. I know we will see v little at this stage but just checking there isn't anything in the wrong place will be great !!!

Essexgalhere · 14/09/2022 10:56

@Janefx40 Welcome to the thread and thank you for sharing your journey
Wishing you all the best with this pregnancy xx

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl Glad they’ve been helpful and scan is booked for Monday xx

I’ve been sent my blood test form but I’m too scared to go have them done just yet because I’m worried I’ll lose baby before my midwife appointment- not sure if I’m being silly here

Singingloudforalltohear · 14/09/2022 11:26

@Janefx40 I think we're all going a bit mad on this thread but at least we recognise it and are in good company 😂

I'm a bit paranoid because I'm feeling less sick and boobs are less sore. Have been on this pattern repeatedly for about a week.🙃

Essexgalhere · 14/09/2022 11:32

@Singingloudforalltohear sometimes I literally poke my boobs to see if they’re still hurting 😂

Singingloudforalltohear · 14/09/2022 12:00

@Essexgalhere Same. I go upstairs and back down because this is when it's usually most noticeable 😂Losing the plot.

Singingloudforalltohear · 14/09/2022 12:03

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl glad that they're getting you in, at least you know they're monitoring you.

There's some research that good oversight improves outcomes for women with a history of miscarriage. They're not sure exactly why that is (possibly that it helps to reduce stress for women) but I'm not surprised.

Blue2020 · 14/09/2022 14:07

I’m currently six weeks but anxious and trying not to get too hopeful yet due to a mmc at 9 weeks in April. My body gave no indication that it had stopped.

This time I have all the same symptoms as last time, plus two additional symptoms I didn’t have before: I recently started feeling nausea and dizziness (and here I thought it couldn’t get worse than being tired all day). It’s like travel sickness, I’m not being sick yet but I feel like I might be. Only I can’t ask my dh to pull over to make it go away.

Essexgalhere · 14/09/2022 14:22

@Blue2020 I had a MMC in April too with no indication. I had morning sickness the day I was told both twins no longer had heartbeats at the scan I was so sure everything was OK

I have that at the moment and worse when I haven’t eaten in a while!

Blue2020 · 14/09/2022 14:35

@Essexgalhere I had no clue going into the scan that anything would be wrong.

I can’t figure out if eating helps or makes the nausea worse. Drinking tea makes it worse though. How are you managing at the minute, how far along are you?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 14:35

I'm allowing myself to feel some hope @Blue2020 @Essexgalhere because 1) I don't feel like there is a 'safe point' that I can switch on the hope at 2) hope doesn't make it any more likely to not work out and 3) it'll be rubbish to not feel any hope for 40 weeks if it does work out!

Blue2020 · 14/09/2022 15:10

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I think I’m just trying to guard myself. If I reach 12 weeks I will start to be more hopeful. I might even feel more hopeful after an early scan to be honest. I know something can go wrong at any time but last time at 9 weeks in that scan I wasn’t prepared at all and it was my first pregnancy. I reached a low point.

I know it’s a new pregnancy and I should treat it as so, but I’m trying to protect feeling that low again. My friend had a miscarriage at 8 weeks last year and then went on to have a baby boy. I’ve heard many success stories, so I am hoping for that outcome.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/09/2022 15:13

Me too @Blue2020 . We lost our last pregnancy at 11 weeks after a perfect week 10 scan (discovered at 12 week scan). It's taken us another 2 years to conceive again, so I know it's a terrifying time.
