Hi everyone, I know this is might be a bit early to start a thread but after more than 2 1/2 years of trying the overwhelming excitement is real!

Me and my husband lost out first at 10 weeks back in December 2020 and to be honest had kind of given up. I only peed on a stick at 16DPO because a banana repulsed me to the point of spitting it out! Trying not to be too excited or paranoid, but we'll see how that goes. 🤣

I've ordered the Pregnancy after Loss book by Zoe Coates Clark in an attempt to keep my sanity, but the going to the loo fear of seeing blood is real. And I've booked an apt to talk to my GP on Thursday at 5+3 to talk about whether or not progesterone would be appropriate.

Thankfully my husband is level headed and reminds me not to get too ahead of myself yet, but it would be great to meet others in the same boat for a hand hold.

@MRSDoos @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl mines on the 21st too. I had the covid vaccine on Monday and I’ve been feeling off since, so Thursday morning I asked my midwife if I could pop along, got to hear the heartbeat again. Now hoping the 20week scan goes ok just before Christmas. We are about to tell our friends next week at a Christmas meal.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 05/12/2022 09:10

Anyone else still SO tired? I'm 16+4 and still tired every night by 6pm, struggling to wake at 8am.

MO22 · 05/12/2022 10:27

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl yep, I had a two hour nap yesterday and am still exhausted. I've never been able to nap before but seem to now!

@Blue2020 I have felt horrible since my covid booster, have had headaches almost every day since then. Might be unrelated but I'm quite bored of it, plus the only drugs that work are paracetamol and caffeine so have to limit the amount each day. I didnt think about speaking to a midwife but maybe I should, I'd love to hear the heartbeat again as it's been almost a month since my last scan and I'm starting to worry if there's anything in there as no bump, no movements... 😬

ArrrMeHearties · 05/12/2022 13:58

Is anyone else really really constipated or is it just me? 15+3 and haven't had a solid poo in over 10 days. Had that awful flu type bug and today found out the sickness tablets I'm on a common side effect is constipation. I'd take morning sickness over it any day

ratherbthedevil · 05/12/2022 16:24

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I'm just getting my energy back, but find I can only cope with doing one thing a day

Has anyone felt any movements? My friend is a few days ahead of me and says she can feel proper kicks and stuff for a few weeks and I've felt nothing. It's making me paranoid but also I need to remember with my last pregnancy (which ended at 22 weeks) I only just started to feel kicks and movements and 15 weeks is still early for that really.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 05/12/2022 16:39

@ratherbthedevil 15 weeks is so early that it's almost unheard of. Midwife told me 18-20 for first flutters, nothing established until 24wks. I have a friend who is 19wks who is only feeling the odd flutter

MRSDoos · 06/12/2022 11:50

I’m feeling movement’s but not kicks yet. I have had a couple of days recently where I’ve felt something that could be a kick but not convincing enough to know for sure. I’m 18 weeks today with our little boy.

I definitely look pregnant now though!

Blue2020 · 06/12/2022 12:48

@ArrrMeHearties I had constipation really bad, I think pregnancy+iron tablets just made it worse. I’ve been having a few bowls of bran flake cereal a week for breakfast to help. Which it does.

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl yes I’m so tired. I’m ok in the day until I eat, then I get tired. Then I’m ok for a few hours and by 4pm I’m really tired again.

@MO22 I had a week feeling ‘off’ since the booster but slowly I think I’m improving.

@MRSDoos I haven’t felt anything yet. My stomache on occasion looks bigger, then other times I look normal. So I can’t tell if it’s just bloating.I’m 18+1 today.

MRSDoos · 07/12/2022 13:09

So I’m panicking as I haven’t felt any movements since Sunday. I know I’m probably overthinking, as I’m 18 w 1 day and they’re not kicks or anything. Do you think this is normal? I can’t decide if I sound stupid and should contact midwife or not

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 07/12/2022 13:50

@MRSDoos at this size, movements become not felt just because they have turned around a bit. HOWEVER, I would still call midwife because its part of their job to provide appropriate reassurance and advice.

Janefx40 · 07/12/2022 22:38

@MRSDoos I'm sure it's just as @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl says and it's just because he is still small and moving positions but you may as well call because she may be able to reassure you xxx

Anoushka1986 · 08/12/2022 08:36

Have you all told your work (including workmates) that you are pregnant? I've just told management this week but not many other people know yet. We have our work Christmas party tomorrow and I'm considering wearing a dress that looks nice but it is quite obvious I'm pregnant in it. I'm just not sure how exposed I'll feel having everyone at my work knowing. We are about to break up for the summer holidays (work in a school) so I won't see them all until late January at which point I'll hopefully have a huge belly and will feel exposed then too I'm sure! I'm 15 weeks plus 4.

Blue2020 · 08/12/2022 08:50

I’ve caught something, feeling really awful this morning. I hope it’s just a cold but either way I’d like to get rid of it quickly. Is it only paracetamol that can be taken? I usually take sore throat medication at this point such as all in one beechams.

Sera123 · 09/12/2022 12:11

@Anoushka1986 I'm 16w tomorrow and haven't told anyone at work yet and our Christmas party is this afternoon - so we'll see how that goes!! I'm wearing something flowy and as it's supposed to be freezing I'll probably be rugged up the entire time so not too worried about 'showing', but hoping I can come up with plausible excuses for not drinking.

Though I've messed up a bit this week, I've been happily making sandwiches with a soft cheese spread all week and it was only when I brought the last bits home from the office yesterday that DH gently pointed out I'm not really supposed to be eating that! Oops! I'd completely forgotten. I'm sure it's fine but still a bit worrying.😬

Second trimester is so weird, isn't it? I'm relieved to be feeling normal again but it's also been a month since the last scan and so it feels weird you just have to carry on and trust that everything's continuing as it should in there! We're going to visit a bunch of my family & friends abroad over Xmas and will be telling lots of them then, but it's gonna be like, well I was def pregnant six weeks ago, so, probably still good? 😆

Melusina123 · 09/12/2022 13:01

@Sera123 I used this website to check cheeses when we were in France pregnancy-food.com/cheese . Not all soft cheeses are bad, and the risk of listeria is v low in the UK regardless.

Second tri is super weird. I found first tri weirder, because it felt like Shroedinger's pregnancy, at any given moment it could be continuing or over and I just not know it yet. It's been a bit less weird since I've been able to feel my uterus and maybe even Grogu (the foetus) moving. But we've gone without a scan between 12wks and 20wks and it is so bananas to think will have been almost two months. I'm 19+1 today.

@Anoushka1986 my boss knows, but that's it. I have until 19 Jan to formally notify work, so will do it properly in the new year, but will word up my team if the 20w scan goes OK next Friday. I didn't drink at the Xmas party so some people may be suspicious, but I'm not a big drinker anyway and it may soften the shock if I do end up telling them soon (and if everything goes pear shaped at 20w scan then they'll just put it down to me having a non-drinking day). Really the best thing I did for keeping this pregnancy secret was to develop a reputation as a light drinker well before getting pregnant...

@Blue2020 oh no! Check BUMPS, but yes I think it's mainly paracetamol - and lots of warm lemony drinks...!

Blue2020 · 09/12/2022 16:22

@Melusina123 thanks, currently drinking tea, and having chicken soup hoping they help.

It is odd not knowing what’s happening. I’ve had a few odd moments but I’m convinced it’s my stomach rather than my uterus. Not long to go now until your scan next Friday. It still feels a while away until the 21st.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 09/12/2022 17:07

Guys this is all SO SLOW. I'm glad I've had no scary symptoms but I also have basically no symptoms now and it freaks me out. A tiny bump that could just be fat, one or two wiggles that might just be stomach gas, tiredness (but I work for the NHS so that's always), sciatic back pain. 22nd Dec seems a million years away.

In other updates, I bought a massive U shaped pregnancy pillow and I love it (a George ASDA bargain).

@Anoushka1986 I've told bosses but not team mates.

Anoushka1986 · 10/12/2022 00:14

I ended up wearing the dress and thought I looked really pregnant but no one seemed to notice or they didn't say anything at least. A couple of my close workmates know and they didn't think I looked that pregnant they said that i could have just had a big lunch 😆 so I will go back to work end of Jan and have a surprise baby bump for everyone.

I'm feeling the same as you all, I'm actually hating this stage. I'm feeling pretty normal, not any symptoms and it's making me anxious. I'm just anxiously waiting for some movement.

MO22 · 10/12/2022 09:19

@Anoushka1986 @Melusina123 @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl it is so slowwwww. I just feel a bit in limbo. I have ten weeks between scans (had one at 12w and next is 21w!) so i'm just like, I hope everything is still ok in there? I don't have a bump, and apart from headaches have no real symptoms. I almost want to get a private scan but I don't want bad news again before Christmas (this time last year I was waiting for my MMC to pass naturally and then had to be have the operation) so I am sticking my head in the sand but not sure if I need to be worried. I know everyone says with first baby bump can take a while, i'm tall, and that movements could be up to 24w... I thought I maybe felt something early this morning but again, it could be wind...

Maybe I should be pleased the headaches are still a symptom, but it's not easy to celebrate them!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 10/12/2022 09:27

Yeah @MO22 I am starting to get really anxious again. The thought of bad news on 22nd December is not good. At the same time I wish I could skip next week and just get some information.

MO22 · 10/12/2022 09:32

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl completely agree, I can feel the first trimester anxiety creeping up again a bit. I keep swinging between knowledge is power and ignorance is bliss!

MRSDoos · 12/12/2022 09:23

Can absolutely relate to the anxiety
20 week scan nerves are kicking in and I keep imagining how Christmas is going to go if we get bad news a few days before at scan

Melusina123 · 12/12/2022 09:46

I'm in the same place you guys are. 20w scan on Friday and I've spent the morning deep googling everything that can go wrong. 😩 I do think I've been able to feel Grogu in there a bit, but I'm also fully prepared for that to turn out to have been my gut instead.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 12/12/2022 11:06

@Melusina123 I also think I can feel a bit but again could just be stomach!

MO22 · 12/12/2022 15:21

Also thought I could feel something hard in my stomach (not movements but I guess my uterus) but just have no idea!

Good luck for all the scans everyone!
