Hi everyone, I know this is might be a bit early to start a thread but after more than 2 1/2 years of trying the overwhelming excitement is real!

Me and my husband lost out first at 10 weeks back in December 2020 and to be honest had kind of given up. I only peed on a stick at 16DPO because a banana repulsed me to the point of spitting it out! Trying not to be too excited or paranoid, but we'll see how that goes. 🤣

I've ordered the Pregnancy after Loss book by Zoe Coates Clark in an attempt to keep my sanity, but the going to the loo fear of seeing blood is real. And I've booked an apt to talk to my GP on Thursday at 5+3 to talk about whether or not progesterone would be appropriate.

Thankfully my husband is level headed and reminds me not to get too ahead of myself yet, but it would be great to meet others in the same boat for a hand hold.

Yeap @Janefx40 but they have turned out not to be uterine but actually round ligament pain. Started last week and this week are more clearly ligament based! I phoned midwives after the first few days and they advised that's what they thought it was.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 24/11/2022 18:24

First few days was more stabby, crampy, burny. Now more clear ligament twangs. EPAU and midwives said pains to worry about 1) are severe 2) don't go away if you move about 3) come with any bleeding 4) are contraction like eg come in patterns. Either way, I'd call in just to get advice

Janefx40 · 24/11/2022 20:53

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl thank you. It's really mild but I keep thinking it might be the start with worse to come. Didn't get my results but don't think I'll feel reassured now even if they're ok.

Xxx

Had my 16wk appointment. They don't do Doppler til 20 weeks in my trust so no chance to hear the little blob. But more than that I just didn't like this midwife. She really didn't listen to me at all, and she treated me like I wasn't very bright which I did not appreciate. She just checked all my bloodwork etc, said it looked fine, blood pressure, urine, etc, all fine. Gave me a lecture about vaccination even though I told her I'd had flu and COVID and would get whooping cough at 20wks like they recommend. Sent me on my way. 🤷‍♀️

ratherbthedevil · 25/11/2022 18:11

@Melusina123 sorry to hear about your appointment. I find at this stage there's not much that goes on in a midwife appointment besides a quick check and really that's what you want because it means it's all going well.

Do you see the same midwife every appointment? In one of my pregnancies I never saw the same midwife twice so maybe you'll get a nice one next time. Or it could be she was having an off day?

ratherbthedevil · 25/11/2022 18:14

Thanks @Janefx40. I know rationally the risk is quite low but some of our previous losses have been completely rate and one off occurrence so I can't help think I'll be the 1 I. 150.

MO22 · 25/11/2022 19:30

Could I do a straw poll of who has had a covid booster at this stage? Did you have moderna?

Just did my flu on Wednesday so think I need to bite the bullet and do my booster (have had 3 jabs to date) but for some stupid reason I'm anxious about it even thought I've done all the reading etc and know it's much better to get the vaccine than get covid!

Also does anyone know how long it takes for the booster to kick in? My Christmas party is next Thursday and then I have a wedding a week later so nervous I might have left it too late...

Melusina123 · 25/11/2022 19:39

@ratherbthedevil I'm starting to appreciate that. You build these appointments up so much in your head, and then they're just very procedural.

@MO22 I had the Pfizer booster at 13ish weeks. I think it take about 2wks for "full" protection? (but some benefit before that) Warning that some places won't do COVID within a week of flu, but others will do them literally on the same day...

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 25/11/2022 19:45

@MO22 I had moderna at 4wks 2 days x

Sera123 · 25/11/2022 20:49

@MO22 I had Pfizer at 11+6 (then the flu jab the next day) and felt a bit tired for a couple days but that's about it.

Better than getting COVID, and I'm on my second cold in 6 weeks when I normally get like 1 a year so if there's COVID around I'll probably get it 🙄

MO22 · 25/11/2022 22:34

@Sera123 me too, I am usually so hardy and I've had about 3 bad colds, the norovirus and another indiscriminate sicky bug in 14 weeks, so I figure I should be getting inoculated for what I can!

Thanks folks, good inspiration for me to get my arse in gear and book it!

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 25/11/2022 22:51

I had Moderna at about 8.5 weeks. We'll never prove it but think me being really ill with covid in my first pregnancy probably caused my miscarriage. The dates all added up.

Anoushka1986 · 27/11/2022 02:29

@Melusina123 sorry to hear about your appointment. I had a similar kind of appointment with my Gp the other day, felt like they didn't listen to me or take me seriously. Really annoys me when that happens. Especially annoys me when I'm trying to explain something and they are reading something on the screen at the same time- they can't possibly hear what I'm saying.

MO22 · 27/11/2022 13:40

What's everyone's bump situations?
I fell into Instagram reels this morning (don't ask) and the algorithm is serving me lots of thin women with bumps at 10 weeks.

I'm 14 weeks, almost 6ft and whilst my BMI is normal, I am a solid human being. My uterus is sticking out but I don't think its a proper bump. Am I just not going to get one til much, much later? I've read tall people don't show as much as there is more room in there?

Janefx40 · 27/11/2022 14:45

@MO22 I'm huge but then I always get big in pregnancy. I'm 5'7" so neither tall nor short and naturally slim but I have quite a big arch in my back which my partner things means my tummy sticks out more when bigger. But I start to look pregnant around 8 weeks. At this point is pretty hard to hide. I have some outfits where I can just about look ambiguous "is she fat or pregnant?". With my DD it was just embarrassing because by the time I was halfway through, people were asking when I was due and being amazed that it wasn't the next day. I was so pissed off at the time but it's just what it is!

Melusina123 · 27/11/2022 15:52

@MO22 I'm 17 weeks and not really showing. Lower abdomen has rounded out, and I've got a bit more solid at the waist, but that's about it. I was hitting the pilates pretty hard when I got pregnant (and not once since 😂) so I think my lower abdominal muscles are holding everything in and pushing things up rather than out. I'm 5'8 and wear a size 10 usually.

I've been able to feel my uterus getting bigger when I press on my stomach but for now I'd be astonished if anyone could tell I was pregnant based on my body shape alone.

I thiiiiiink I've started to feel the little blob move this week, but it's at the stage of subtlety where it could very much still be gas.

MO22 · 27/11/2022 16:23

@Melusina123 ok thanks that helps a bit, I probably shouldn't expect anything for a good few weeks then! I'm normally a size 12 so distinctly average, but I lost weight in the first trimester and haven't regained it yet, and assumed by this point maybe I'd have a more of a "bump" per se, but I just look like I've eaten a bigger meal I think...

I keep meaning to go to pregnancy pilates but I've yet to motivate myself 😂

@Janefx40 I've read that it shows a lot faster subsequent pregnancies as well. I think I'm just a little anxious as I'm the lowest weight I've been in years and no bump to speak off, but can also imagine the frustration having people comment!

Melusina123 · 27/11/2022 17:07

@MO22 I just feel like everyone would think I was an impostor at pregnancy pilates. 😭 Also we've still barely told anyone and it just feels weird that some random pilates instructor would know before some of my closest friends. 🤷‍♀️

But yes no bump over here which I've been obsessing about a bit but I actually managed to measure my fundal height the other day (I just really like poking my stomach) and it seems to be about where it should be so I can only think/hope everything is growing up not out. This is the first time I've made it past 8 weeks so I really have nothing to go on!

MO22 · 27/11/2022 17:35

@Melusina123 I went to pregnancy yoga at 13 weeks and felt like such a fraud! Everyone else was huge, and the least far advanced bar me was 16 weeks, so just felt stupid really - I haven't gone back but then I read a study that said labour experience and outcomes were better if you'd done pregnancy yoga for a decent stint so in two minds. I'm going to try another one tomorrow I think (the first one was very WOO and the instructor told someone to try herbal methods rather than aspirin the doctor recommended so I was a bit 🧐) but I'm still worried I'll be the least far gone again and look completely normal in my gym gear...

I do find it hard now I'm in uncharted waters post the 12 weeks we got to before, but probably need to stop stressing about everything. Might Google this fundal height measurement you say...😂

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 27/11/2022 17:35

@MO22 no bump here. Just a little fluffy looking, I'm tallish (5ft 8") and a size UK14.

Blue2020 · 27/11/2022 19:44

@MO22 no bump here at 17weeks and I can’t feel anything yet. I’m 5ft3’’ and usually a size 8-10. I have moved to size 12 jeans about 2 weeks ago when they felt a bit tight but I can’t see the difference. I have my usual small food belly. I did have nausea and sickness from 6-14weeks so that might have contributed.

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 28/11/2022 19:52

5'3" size 12 - 14. Despite twins and everything feeling very solid / full, I don't have a visible bump although I do feel like my stomach generally is bigger. 15 and a half weeks.

Janefx40 · 29/11/2022 00:26

Scan tomorrow afternoon - feel like I'm heading to my execution as always.

Also still don't have NIPT results as I think they must have hit the thanksgiving holidays in the states. Basically I jump out my skin every time I get a call or an email which is starting to be a bit much!

Hope everyone else is doing ok xxx

MRSDoos · 29/11/2022 10:43

Sorry ladies! Had a bit of time off mumsnet think I needed a bit of a break due to anxiety

I hope everyone is doing OK

I am now 17 weeks today. Had my midwife appointment yesterday, heard baby boys heartbeat. Made me wish I had a Doppler at home but I know they can make anxiety worse! Felt like a fraud at my midwife appointment, there was also so many newborns there in the waiting room and I found it so triggering. Even though I have this baby in my belly I still get weird about things.

@Janefx40 thinking of you tomorrow! xx

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 29/11/2022 12:12

@Janefx40 good luck today! I still don't even have my trisomy screening back - it's been 3 weeks!
