Hi everyone, I know this is might be a bit early to start a thread but after more than 2 1/2 years of trying the overwhelming excitement is real!

Me and my husband lost out first at 10 weeks back in December 2020 and to be honest had kind of given up. I only peed on a stick at 16DPO because a banana repulsed me to the point of spitting it out! Trying not to be too excited or paranoid, but we'll see how that goes. 🤣

I've ordered the Pregnancy after Loss book by Zoe Coates Clark in an attempt to keep my sanity, but the going to the loo fear of seeing blood is real. And I've booked an apt to talk to my GP on Thursday at 5+3 to talk about whether or not progesterone would be appropriate.

Thankfully my husband is level headed and reminds me not to get too ahead of myself yet, but it would be great to meet others in the same boat for a hand hold.

@Janefx40 yes I can feel it's a hard lump in my abdomen. But I was always very prone to poking my stomach (just interested in what my intestines are doing), so maybe it's atypical to be able to tell something's different at this stage. 😂

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 20/11/2022 21:27

@Melusina123 uterus pips out from behind bone at 14 wks + so I wonder if that's what you feel?

MRSDoos · 21/11/2022 16:16

I felt brave this weekend and brought some maternity tights
So happy I did - feel comfortable in them!
Very nervous / worried about my scan on Wednesday
I guess this is the bad side of private scans, the anxiety you get before them

Anoushka1986 · 22/11/2022 05:09

I had my 13 week scan yesterday. I think I'm the last one? Felt great to see Bub bouncing away in there....for about an hour. I've now started to stress about other things. My first child had a risky birth, and I'm at higher risk of the same thing happening again.. don't know how I will get through the next six months with this worry!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 22/11/2022 18:47

Glad to hear your scan was good @Anoushka1986 .

Interestingly, midwives think my pains may be ligament and muscle and pelvic floor rather than uterus etc so have asked me to contact their physio. I can see why as I feel like I massively pulled it getting out the car today and now it's sore!

MRSDoos · 22/11/2022 19:09

Feel like a nice a bit of a hand hold.

My biggest milestone since I found out I was pregnant was the gender scan, now it’s tomorrow. It’s come around quick.
I have been shaky all day, wondering if something will go wrong tomorrow. I just don’t know what to do or how to calm my nerves. We’ve been counting down the days until I’m 16 weeks and now it’s here I just think I’ve jinxed it.

I’m so scared I’m going to be told no heartbeat tomorrow

MRSDoos · 22/11/2022 19:11

I need a bit of*

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 22/11/2022 19:16

@MRSDoos I really hope tomorrow is all fine and that the only news is what the likely sex or your baby is. Do you have a hope either way?

MRSDoos · 22/11/2022 19:37

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl Thank you
We are taking this scan as a rough guide of sex and will see what 20 week scan confirms as well
I honestly thought when I got pregnant I’d be having a girl but closer to the time I think boy now

MO22 · 22/11/2022 20:10

@MRSDoos good luck tomorrow and a big handhold. I know the jinxing feeling but nothing you can do or say actually will jinx anything.

I hope the next few hours fly by and hopefully you'll be relieved this time tomorrow! Thinking of you x

MRSDoos · 23/11/2022 13:35

@MO22 Thank you

5 and a half hours until scan! Today is the day. Didn’t sleep last night due to anxiety 😞

Janefx40 · 23/11/2022 13:38

@MRSDoos thinking of you today. Really hope all is well xxx

Blue2020 · 23/11/2022 17:17

@MRSDoos hope your scan went well today.

I just had my 16 week midwife appointment this afternoon, and surprisingly I got to hear the heartbeat. I didn’t think the midwife would offer it at 16weeks. It’s the first time I’ve heard it and it was great.

MO22 · 23/11/2022 19:06

Hope it all went ok @MRSDoos x

MRSDoos · 23/11/2022 20:05

Thank you! Over the moon to say we are having a son x

ratherbthedevil · 23/11/2022 20:29

Hi, I've debated on joining this group for a while. I'm 13 weeks due end of May. We have been trying since 2020 and had 3 miscarriages before our daughter was still born early this year, since then we have had 2 more losses before I got pregnant with my current pregnancy.

Today I found out the baby is high risk for Down syndrome. It's just the icing on the cake really.

Whatever the outcome is, and whatever we decide, we have had enough heartbreak and this will 100% be my last pregnancy regardless. So I thought I would join my last ever baby bump group even though it might be just for a short time.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 23/11/2022 20:32

Welcome @ratherbthedevil . You are in good company here and it's okay to talk about anything youd like, good or bad feelings! Would you like to talk about your results/next tests or would you prefer not to?

@MRSDoos so excited for you, congratulations

ratherbthedevil · 23/11/2022 20:59

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome ❤️

The NT measurement was low (1.4). Apparently the PAPP- A was low (0.53) but the BHcg is in range (2.69). But I don't know what normal for PAPP-a and BHcg is. It's given me a risk of 1:150. My midwife thinks it's my age (older than I'd like to be 🤣) and the low PAPP-a which has given me a high risk result.

I've looked on various forums and lot of people who have 1:150 have come back saying that it's negative for DS, but then someone has to be that 1 in 150 and based on my pregnancy history it'll probably be me!

Anyway, I have the NIPT tomorrow then a long 2 week wait for the results. I know after that I can have the amino and having had that before it's not something I want to repeat!

I was just starting to feel like we may bring this baby home!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 23/11/2022 21:04

1 in 150 is not super high, and it's extremely likely that it'll all be fine. However, I totally understand @ratherbthedevil that given our histories we feel like we are the unlucky number not the lucky ones

ratherbthedevil · 23/11/2022 21:09

My husband doesn't seem worried and neither does my midwife. He said if it was 1:151 they wouldn't have even called.

Just feeling sorry for myself because after everything in the last 2 years I was hoping for a stress free pregnancy and I just can't deal with 2 weeks of worry waiting for the results. I would pay good money to get the results sooner.

MO22 · 24/11/2022 08:18

@ratherbthedevil welcome and I'm so sorry for the journey you have been on. I hope the NIPT brings some clarity and the results come back fast! What test are you doing? I did the harmony and the said it would take 7-10 days and it came back in 5 which I was shocked about. Tbf I had inconclusive sex results so that might have sped it up mind, as my fetal DNA was on the cusp of being readable. No one told me the medication I was on would affect it, typical...

I have everything crossed for you!

@MRSDoos congrats!!! I'm desperate to know the gender but holding out until Jan.

MRSDoos · 24/11/2022 09:46

@ratherbthedevil I’m sorry for your miscarriages and your stillborn daughter ❤️

I agree that 1:150 is still quite unlikely that baby has it but I do not blame you for being worried. I am not sure on your age but you said age could be a factor, my partners mum was 38 and 42 when she had her 2 and both had a 1:100 risk and they said it was because of her age because her other results came back low.

Your feelings are valid and we are here to support you!

ratherbthedevil · 24/11/2022 11:16

@MO22 the NIPT is through the NHS. They said it will come back in 7-10 days. I asked if it was quicker if we go private but they said no.

@MRSDoos I am 37, 38 by the time the baby is born which I think is what they use. From my understanding so far my HCG is raised (2.68/2.69 can't remember now) and my age. Papp-a is low but within range and NT measurement is within range.

If I was talking to someone else I would wonder why they were worrying when the odds are in their favour, but 2 of my losses were due to rare unconnected issues and were apparently "just bad luck" so I can't help but assume this is another situation where I am the 1 in 150.

Melusina123 · 24/11/2022 11:44

@MRSDoos congrats, so glad it was all good news.

@ratherbthedevil welcome to the thread none of us wanted to join. :) I completely understand what you mean - once you've been on the wrong side of a 1:200 or 1:100 chance, you never feel entirely reassured about those kinds of odds again. I've said this before on this thread, but even though I know how hard it is for you to be hopeful for yourself, we will all be hopeful of a good outcome for you. 💙

I've got my "16 week" midwife appointment tomorrow (I'll actually be 17+1), so I'm sinking back into impostor syndrome as I always do before I have to interact with someone medical. Hoping to hear a heartbeat, that's all I'm after. It's been almost 5 weeks since the 12 week scan, which is a long time to go without any info about the little blob's status. I also graduated from the progesterone pessaries today, which was a bit nerve-wracking.

Janefx40 · 24/11/2022 14:37

Hey everyone. Having a super tough day. Our Panorama results are due back (we don't know exactly when but the last two 'failed' results came back at 1:30pm 9 days after we did the bloods) so I'm jumping every time the phone rings or I see an email. He's calling with bad news, emailing with good.

But also I have suddenly got period cramps. I've not had these my entire pregnancy (so much so that I was worried my embryo transfer hadn't worked in the early days as I always had implantation cramps in the past). I'm freaking out. Has anyone else had period like cramps in recent weeks? I'm currently 14+4. I'm so worried that this is the beginning of a miscarriage. My last loss was MMC but then I was taking progesterone and it was earlier so it was all different.

@ratherbthedevil welcome. Sorry you have had a worrying result but as others said, it is probably just age related. I'm in my mid-40s so my risk shoots up just because that is one of the factors they put into the algorithm. From what I understand, the NT measurement is pretty telling so if that is fine then I'd feel reassured - although I know that's impossible and of course you will be worrying.

BTW my NIPT has only taken 9 days because I did a Panorama that goes to America as opposed to a Harmony that is done in the UK. when I did a Harmony with my DD it came back in 7 calendar days.

@Melusina123 good luck tomorrow. I hope you hear that heartbeat. Will be thinking of you.
