Just had a really lovely midwife sit and go through everything with me and feel a bit better, I'm number four in the queue.

Goodgoodthings · 26/08/2022 06:31

@annlee3817 just caught up with your posts - it sounds like it's been such a stressful time and the uncertainty of it all must be so disheartening. Really hoping that today is your day ♥️

HaresHoping · 26/08/2022 06:56

Bless you @annlee3817 just wanted to send hugs your way, sounds really stressful. I really hope today is your day too 🤞🏻❤️ you're doing so brilliantly, hang in there x

Butterflytulip · 26/08/2022 09:07

@annlee3817 I would ask to see a doctor. You are in your right to create a fuss and ask questions!! Or ask to be moved to a different hospital!!!

Celyn22 · 26/08/2022 09:30

@Sweetbabydust1989 ah I get you! I have a pile that appeared recently and I haven’t even been straining! I’ve been practicing my birth breathing techniques when on the toilet if I’ve been constipated. It feel so outrageous. I just hope it doesn’t get overly strained during labour and turn into something worse! Sorry to hear you are going through a similar issue. Also just read your next comment about partner in bed... I’m getting irritated with mine too! I love that he wants to get all close but he ends up on my side of the bed and then I get really pissed off because his body temperature is so hot! And when I get hot in bed it makes my skin itch which makes it harder to get back to sleep after my 15th wee! ;) grrrrr

@Northenerinwales I’ve had similar things or waking up sooo hungry! So snacking in the kitchen, but then I can usually sleep after that.

@annlee3817 gosh that sucks! It’s really unfair too. You can demand what you want, even though I know the tendency for me too would be to give them the benefit of the doubt and understand their staff issues. But this is serious and you are important and deserve to be taken care of and treated well! Let’s trust things improve today. Glad to hear the midwife has spent time with you. Sending you love x

...I'm 39+2 today and keep wondering "is this is?" ...different pains and aches... I've heard the difference between BH and contractions are that with actual contractions you have to stop what you are doing. I had a little of that in the evening but wasn't sure if I was stopping because I was checking the difference. Then this morning I had a little sweet smelling fluid (amniotic?) leak before I got out of bed. I could feel it coming so I caught it on my hand and studied it but looked like it could have been discharge, and I was intimate with my partner last night so can't be sure. Feeling ready for our son to be born now... I'm more uncomfortable and I think he is too!

Northernerinwales · 26/08/2022 09:36

@Celyn22 I’ve got a midwife appointment this morning so I’m going to speak to her about these new symptoms and see what she suggests. I was awake most of the night with this cramping pain but it was only on the left side and it was under my bump sort of along the bikini line I’m not sure what was going on last night but I was up and down with this pain then awake at 7am when my partners alarm went off. I’ve struggled to sleep since x

annlee3817 · 26/08/2022 10:05

@Celyn22 get the fluid leak checked out, just in case it's a slow leak, better to check than risk infection. I was checked for the same a few weeks ago and they said important to let them know.

Thanks all for the well wishes, the midwives are way more reassuring than the doctors to be honest, doctors come across as quite cold and unfeeling.

As far as hospitals go, I'm in the better one 🤦
I'd have to go to another town, I think DH will be asking a lot of questions today, so will see what else is said.

MummyToBe2022 · 25/08/2022 19:15

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is feeling extremely tired.

Today I've had an appointment at the hospital for my epilepsy which really could of been done on the phone 😩

Been to another hospital to visit my dad and since on the way home (around 5 hours ago) I've been experiencing regular cramping but nothing too serious, doesn't last very long and is only at the front.

BH for sure which I'm happy about because I do not have the energy to give birth 😂

SO tired and I still have 4 weeks to go. My concentration is shot at work, I'm missing basic stuff and I'm on such a short fuse for nonreason. I just want to nap 😩

Northernerinwales · 26/08/2022 12:05

So the midwife said it sounds like the symptoms I’ve been having is my body getting ready for labour and she doesn’t think il get all the way to 39 weeks. I have a scan on the 7th September and my due date is the 12th so she has booked my next appointment to see her on the 9th just Incase nothing happens so fingers crossed this doesn’t go on until then

MummyToBe2022 · 26/08/2022 15:43

@Fortuny I really feel for you.
How long do you have until your maternity starts?
Don't put too much pressure on yourself, be kind to yourself, your body and your baby.
Get napping as soon as you can x

Butterflytulip · 26/08/2022 19:25

@annlee3817 thinking of you xx

@Celyn22 oh yes they're a literal pain in the arse 😂 got midwife tomorrow was going to ask her to check it no doubt she will tell me to go to MAU that's all these midwives do now days not sure why I even bother going to the apps.. when I had my boys I had one consultant and one midwife was much easier to build a bond with them this time round it's see whoever.. it's the same with my consultant midwife she was amazing putting my plans in place and have it all signed off I spoke to some random consultant at my app the other day and he was like well this can't be done at this stage etc so yeah that's definitely got my back up a bit thankfully I have it all in emails so I if they try and refuse the plan I won't hold back xx

Butterflytulip · 27/08/2022 09:31

Hi everyone, has anyone has a planned c section and successfully breastfed??

Also When you are in hospital, do you just keep baby naked (just nappy) and your top half naked and do skin to skin constantly to encourage feeding?

Last time I had induction which led to c section and the baby was handed to me straightaway but then partner had to go out in recovery with baby whilst they removed my placenta and stitched me up. I just want to ensure baby finds the breast and hopefully is a natural with BF. Last time we dressed baby after a while, suppose I was afraid of baby getting cold !! Best to keep baby naked and just cover their back with a large muslin or blanket?

Butterflytulip · 27/08/2022 09:32

There so many newbies on here. I'm struggling to keep up!!!!
@annlee3817 woke up thinking of you, hope today is your day!!!
We have 5 sleeps to go as a family of 3!!!

annlee3817 · 27/08/2022 10:54

@Butterflytulip just been looking at the pics of Emelia when she was born, she was placed on my chest for skin to skin and they had a towel over her back, stayed that way for first feed, and when we got onto the ward we then dressed her

And thank you, hope it is too, not holding my breath although am first in the queue for labour ward, but that can change. Had an awful nights sleep and over it now

Sweetbabydust1989 · 27/08/2022 11:46

Midwife app done eviction dates all set in stone now sweep in 2 weeks woohoo xx

Butterflytulip · 27/08/2022 12:23

@annlee3817 Emilia is such a beautiful name. That's really good to know, thank you. I presume she fed ok after she was dressed?
First in queue in fab! I really can't believe how long youv been in the hospital. I hope your ok, the end is near and you'll be home soon ❤️

Butterflytulip · 27/08/2022 12:24

Ahiop@Sweetbabydust1989 I can't believe this is our last weekend as a family of 3!!! Best Saturday will be a whole different beginning, I'll be home with 2 babies. Hard to believe!

Butterflytulip · 27/08/2022 12:46

Meant to say whoooop @Sweetbabydust1989 !!!

Sweetbabydust1989 · 27/08/2022 12:53

@Butterflytulip I am so so happy I actually thought it wasn't going to be done but Labour ward said iam booked in and the midwife has put it on my notes about the sweep I hope it works!! I now the feeling last couple of weeks as a family of 4 my eldest starts secondary school next week it's all very emotional xx

annlee3817 · 27/08/2022 13:06

@Butterflytulip her first feed was around forty mins. Once dressed i stayed in hospital for 24 hours for help with feeding, I found it hard to latch by myself, but the midwife had me lay on my side and have her on her side and she latched well then, she had a preference for the right boob, so it was mainly the left I was having problems with. Otherwise the rest of the feeding journey was fine.

Butterflytulip · 27/08/2022 15:00

Amazing. Thanks @annlee3817
I'll put all my focus on baby this time and get the feeding straightaway! We'll not make any baby announcement calls for a while after the birth!! I think that causes distractions and too much going on without concentrating on feeding. I remember being on cloud 9 last time and couldn't wait to phone or text message everyone!!

BambiEll · 28/08/2022 17:50

Hi everyone, question for second time mums or clued up FTM - I'm 39+2 and feeling a LOT of pressure but no contractions, back ache or period type pains.
Does this mean anything? No signs that I've lost my mucus plug or waters have broken so not sure if this is the start...?

Could just be getting ready - or baby descending !
