@SantiagoSister backache has gone now, along with my hopes that labour was imminent 😩😅 Exciting, not too long for you now! I’ve been trying things to get the baby out since 39 weeks 😂

@Gem2811 I hate when people say that! I said I was exhausted a couple of months ago and my friends husband said “wait until the baby’s here” and I was like ?? That doesn’t take away from the fact I’m tired now?! He also said to me, when it was 39 degrees a couple of weeks ago and I said how uncomfortable i was because of the heat “Wait until you have a baby adding to the heat!” I was like “I do..inside me heating me from the inside!!” I have no tolerance for it any more 😅

Gem2811 · 31/07/2022 17:35

@Coco9910 oh my god I think I would have punched him with the heat comment.... no uterus no opinion 😂 people say it without even knowing how much your actually sleeping just now the last few weeks your lucky if I sleep 5 hours a day and that's with being up every hour to pee 🙈

makingabebe · 31/07/2022 18:00

Hey all, catching up on the thread, it's so lovely hearing about all the new babies arriving and how close people are getting! On my first day of leave, which I was obviously really looking forward to, I developed the PUPPS/PEP rash and I have been in agony ever since and over the last few days especially - wasn't sleeping well anyway due to hips/pelvis/peeing but now it's all that plus this relentless urge to itch keeping me up. It's made me very sad to see my bump covered in ugly red welts. My hands and feet also have a rash. The heat makes it worse. I have steroid cream and antihistamines but they barely take the edge off. I'm so sleep-deprived I have definitely lost my mind. I have been trying to batch cook and help husband finish the nursery (mostly done) but sometimes all I can do is just sit and cry!

Interestingly, the majority of women who get this rash seem to give birth to boys, so it's kind of fun thinking about whether I will buck the trend or not (we decided not to find out the sex).

Also on the same day as my last day of work, at 37 weeks, I had an appointment with a consultant, who I'd never met before, who assumed I was happy to be induced at 38 weeks ('so we're going to induce you next week') and I had to really speak up for myself and say no, I didn't want that, and ask her questions about stats, success rates etc. She was pretty judgemental and patronising and I got so frustrated with her tone/attitude that I started crying, at which point she started to take me seriously and we ended up on a compromise of a planned c-section at 39 weeks (this Tuesday). Waiting until 39 weeks wouldn't be harmful to the baby but apparently 40 weeks is too dangerous. I have really mixed emotions about this decision. I would love to go into labour naturally but baby doesn't seem to want to leave!

squatternutbosh12 · 31/07/2022 18:10

Ohhh ladies I am right there with you with all of the pains, all of the time. Back ache, tummy ache, leg ache, shoulder ache. And the expanding rib cage pain thing- altho mine’s not breech so I assume a baby’s bum can achieve the same torture method. Ughhhh. I agree there was a noticeable hiking up of general discomfort past the 37 week point. I’m 38+2 now, and having c section in FOUR DAYS - EEEK.
Starting to get quite anxious about it but trying to be chill as I doubt getting myself into a worry spiral is
particularly beneficial right now!

@Gem2811 Haha I HATE the “just wait til the baby comes” / “it’ll be worse when the baby is here!” brigade! Omg shut UP if you think that’s remotely helpful you are wildly mistaken! 😂

sending you all hugs and good vibes. I’ve been grateful for having Team August to moan about stuff to/be excited with/share the highs and lows. Xxx

squatternutbosh12 · 31/07/2022 18:13

*Team July/August- definitely including anyone who’s already had their baby! And September if anyone is going that late…!? X

squatternutbosh12 · 31/07/2022 18:53

@makingabebe sorry you’ve been having such a rough time! :( the rash sounds awful, exactly what you DIDN’T need right at the end of pregnancy. And well done for sticking up for yourself and your preferences with the consultant- sounds like it has paid off. X

AbiGoLucky · 31/07/2022 19:48

Hi all, sorry I’m completely new to this site but thought better late joining than never. I have lurked for advice on here before and found some really honest and helpful stuff 🙂 Currently pregnant with my first and due 23rd Aug with a little girl. Just about to have my first week off of work and feeling the nesting urge is strong!! has anyone else gone mad with the washing, ironing and bleaching of things??🫣

makingabebe · 31/07/2022 21:04

Thank you @squatternutbosh12 it seems every time I post on here it's to complain! but it really has been one thing after the other - UTI, thrush, gestational diabetes, covid and now this! I also agree tho that general pregnancy discomfort after 37 weeks seems to ramp up. I have no idea how women deal with it when going past 40 weeks! I am very very done. But I'm really looking forward to meeting baby, so very much, can't wait.

Isonthecase · 01/08/2022 00:21

Congrats @roughmeasures , lovely news!

And welcome @Coco9910 , if it's any consolation my most late baby was the easiest labour and quickest recovery so 🤞🤞🤞. Small sample size but think we're due some optimism!

@AbiGoLucky snap, due around the same time and just started maternity yipppeeee! Manically doing loads and then a day or so scheduled relaxing right?

@makingabebe not long now 😊 they'll be worth the wait.

I've been such a grump the last couple of days, cleaning like mad and then tired and sore from it. Keep thinking it might be a sign things are moving but no chance for weeks 😂 bring on these babies!!

Coco9910 · 01/08/2022 07:36

@Isonthecase i will take that optimism! I have had a really smooth and easy pregnancy, so I really can’t complain about going overdue 😅 I just keep telling myself that I will have the baby in days now, not weeks and that is getting me through 🥰

I’m still waiting for the nesting to kick in. I had a day where I went crazy and cleaned everything but it never returned 😅

miltonj · 01/08/2022 10:01

It's due month! 🥳☺️

mamaof2girls · 01/08/2022 11:34

Happy due month everyone!! We could be having babies any day now!!! X

Tacoboutit · 01/08/2022 11:37

Happy due month everyone! Looking forward to hearing about more babies 👶🏼 x

SantiagoSister · 01/08/2022 11:56

Happy due month all 🥰

Does anyone have any tips to help me deal with the extreme impatience I’m feeling to meet this little one? I’m desperate for him to arrive now, but he seems so comfortable in there and no signs he’s thinking of joining us any time soon. I’m due on Thursday, and have a consultant appointment on Wednesday. When I saw them last, they offered to induce me on my due date, as they’re aware this is our long awaited rainbow baby after a third trimester loss previously. I turned down that offer as I would rather labour naturally if possible, and he offered sweeps instead from my due date. He wasn’t keen on me going much past 41 weeks and said they would be looking to induce around then. I had wanted to give this little one as much time as possible to make his own way into the world, but with me feeling so impatient I’m wondering if I will be swayed to accept the induction next week because I just want him here safe and well now. Really don’t know what to do for the best. Hoping little one decides to arrive of his own accord very soon so I don’t have to make these decisions!

beckybloomwood11 · 01/08/2022 12:48

Just need a moan, I'm feeling huge and hormonal and have really bad heartburn. I'm so over being pregnant! I still have two weeks left at work and I'm so over it and can't believe I have to wait till the end of the month (or even September 😭) for her to be here!

And then I feel guilty for moaning because I've had such an easy pregnancy compared to some.

CoalCraft · 01/08/2022 12:58

Yay, due month! Not long now, for those of us who are still waiting 🎉

@SantiagoSister Completely understand the impatience! What I would say is that while a week seems like a long time now, in the grand scheme of things it's a blink of an eye. Once you've had your baby one month, two months, a year, 18 years... 😂 a week will feel like nothing. To me, the reduced stress of labour starting non medically (and the slightly easier labour that would hopefully result) would be worth waiting that little bit extra.

But that's just me! I completely understand that for others waiting for labour to begin may be more stressful than going for the induction and that's fine. Do what feels right for you, with your consultant's advice of course xx

Okay ladies, slightly embarrassing question but... Does anyone else feel tightenings / BH contractions... In their bum?? Sometimes when I get one it comes with a feeling like I urgently need to use the toilet, but the feeling passes as the contraction stops. Sometimes baby movements do the same thing and I'm wondering if it's my uterus/baby putting pressure on my rectum or something?? It always puts me on edge a bit as (apart from being uncomfortable) a feeling of needing the toilet but not actually passing anything was one of the first signs of labour I had last time. It didn't come and go with BH contractions then, though!

Beth262 · 01/08/2022 13:35

@mamaof2girls re: visitors with our first DP and I were ready to welcome anyone and everyone because DS was 9 weeks old coming out of hospital. Glad we did as 6 weeks later covid hit! This time around however given I'm term, I think aside from my mum moving in for the first week or so to help out (DP is self employed and starting a new contract this week... due date is next Monday 🤦‍♀️) I'll be willing to say I'm not seeing anyone else!

Welcome @Coco9910 @Gemma273 @AbiGoLucky! Sorry some of you have had to leap over into the August group because of stubborn babies but nice to have you along 🙂

@PopGoesBang hope all going well with the induction!

@roughmeasures Congratulations on your baby boy, so lovely to hear of more babies being born. Really brings it home how close the rest of us are! NICU is a hard journey but the care they give is fantastic. My DS was a NICU baby and he is leaps ahead of his peers.

@madeleine85 thanks for the reassurance about the drop in weight with your DD1, it's really helped my anxiety 😘 I have a consultant appointment Friday and another scan so will see what is showing then. Hopefully he's not dropped off the chart completely.

@SantiagoSister no tips but feel exactly the same! Am completely done now and just want him out. I have a feeling at my appointment this coming Friday they are going to suggest the same to me. I'm 39 weeks today but with several episodes of reduced movement and the drop in centiles on the last scan I don't think I'll be coming out after that appointment until he's here. Like you I don't want to be induced, not only because it means my waterbirth is out the window but because I've heard it's so bloody painful! But on the other hand, I want him here as safely as possible. Arrghh pregnancy is so hard! Not that long ago they were desperately trying to keep him in. Now I can't get him out despite walking miles and feeling like I might throw up if I eat another curry or pineapple 🤦‍♀️

@beckybloomwood11 moan away, we're all here in solidarity with you and gutted for you that you still have another 2 weeks in work. That's just pants.

@CoalCraft I've had that occasionally. I think it might be because baby is so low. Mine is to the point they can feel his head when doing a sweep 🥴 Hopefully it means she's in prime position for you but that you have a few days to enjoy your maternity leave before she makes an appearance.

@Beth262 you remember things so well!!

No progress yesterday for one and another but today things are moving. Not helped by the fact as they fitted the cannula I came over all feint which resulted in losing babies heart rate and the emergency button being hit, I was whisked to theatre, but as everything with me stabled baby did too. But while I was there they did then break my waters and clip to babies head and now back on labour ward the hormone drip has been started so all good!

ToCaden · 01/08/2022 13:56

Hi all. Had a pretty easy pregnancy so far. Then woke at 2am bleeding! It was so much that by the time i got to triage they took one look at blood on pad and took me straight to prep for section.

Had an emergency c section and now on labour ward.

He's also 8 pounds 5 at only 38.2 weeks!

Isonthecase · 01/08/2022 14:03

@ToCaden congrats! What a dramatic start, hopefully he's getting it all out his system now 😂

Beth262 · 01/08/2022 14:06

@PopGoesBang Not long now then! How exciting baby will soon be in your arms. Good luck for the active labour stage 💕

@ToCaden Congratulations! That is a very healthy weight for gestation. Hope you are recovering well after the emergency c-section. Sounds very frightening with the blood and all the rushing but so glad to hear baby is here safely x

squatternutbosh12 · 01/08/2022 14:09

@ToCaden wow that must have been terrifying but congratulations!! Hope you’re feeling ok post EMCS! glad to hear baby arrived safely despite the scare 🥰 x

@PopGoesBang yikes sounds like a scare for you too- glad everything stabilised and fingers crossed that drip gets things going ASAP and before you know it you’ll have your baby too! X

SantiagoSister · 01/08/2022 14:19

Thank you for your advice and solidarity @CoalCraft and @Beth262! You are absolutely right, a week really isn’t a long time in the grand scheme of things. I think being on maternity leave now with not a lot to do each day also compounds the impatience! I will see what the consultants advise on Wednesday, I definitely won’t be accepting induction on my due date this week if there’s no actual medical reason for it. I’d like to give him some sort of chance to come naturally, but will weigh up the risks of being over due with the consultant and see whether induction will be necessary next week or not. Good luck for your appointment on Friday @Beth262, fingers crossed you won’t need to be induced, I feel exactly the same as you, would much rather things happen naturally and we get our much-wanted water births, but of course if it’s medically necessary we will absolutely have no choice but to accept as we just want our babies here safely. I’m just off out on another walk now, every little helps surely? 😂 hope things kick off for us both very soon 🤞🏼

Good luck @PopGoesBang, that must’ve been scary yesterday. Hope things progress well for you today and you have your lovely baby in your arms in no time 🥰

Congratulations @ToCaden! That must’ve been a shock for you after such a smooth pregnancy! I’m so pleased all is ok and you have your lovely little boy with you safe and sound now, what a great weight he is too 🥰

mamaof2girls · 01/08/2022 14:29

@ToCaden oh god that must have been terrifying for yous. Glad all was okay and your baby is here. Oh what a good weight! Congratulations x

madeleine85 · 01/08/2022 14:31

@ToCaden huuuge congratulations ❤️

@PopGoesBang hopw it’s all going well!!

i can’t believe due date month is here already, there’s going to be a lot of babies so soon!
