@mamaof2girls I'm going with as little housework as I can get away with!

@Beth262 I was the same tbh but I have 2 toddlers and washing is always endless it's unreal 🙈 I keep thinking if I went into Labour and had to leave I don't want to come home with a newborn and a messy house and endless washing. Has anyone got any rules regarding when they come home with the baby and visiting? X

Had a busy day today. Went and looked at some puppies for MIL, she sadly lost her dog in awful circumstances and is very much wanting another and dp is planning on making that happen. Very cute little pups, could probably have put a deposit on 2 rather than just the one - being sensible tho!

Then took dd to the aquarium, and for an ice cream. A sort of last thing just the 3 of us.

And tomorrow brings going in for induction. I'm ignoring any housework i feel I should be doing my only task tonight is to double check hospital bags and make sure everything is ready for the morning.
I'm sincerely hoping the labour ward is quiet and I'm not waiting days, while trying to be sensible and remind myself it will all be out of my hands and if there is a wait there is a wait.
Slept horribly last night, expect to sleep worse tonight.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, sounds like lots of babies are doing their best to hold on and make it to August, even if that means they are still a little early.

Hi everyone I've just discovered this group, I'm due within the next week and looking for advice if possible. Everyone is asking me if I'm "having twinges" being so close to my due date and quite honestly I don't have a clue if I am. I was induced with my first so feel a bit clueless about any labour signs, I definitely feel like something has changed but can't pinpoint what it is, I'm struggling to describe it but maybe want to describe it as pressure and belly going hard but it has been doing that forever so don't think that is a sign. Also had no loss of mucus plug as far as I'm aware - have had more discharge but it's clear so don't think it's been my plug. I have had a few cramps over the past few days but again not sure if it's pregnancy/labour related as it disappears quickly and then never really returns.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

@Unsure1010 I don’t really have an answer for you but my baba was measuring 7lbs 12ozs at 35+6 and nothing was said about it. Although she did decide to come early at 37+3 and weighed 7lbs 5ozs

Sorry that should’ve said she measured 7lbs 12ozs at 36+6!

Isonthecase · 31/07/2022 11:47

@Unknown6 mine was measuring similar but they seem pretty chilled about it. Some people just have bigger babies so there are certain triggers they watch out for rather than just weight. Did they mention a diabetes check? I'm seeing the consultant every 2 weeks now and starting sweeps at 37 weeks but that's for a separate issue.

Absolutely knackered today, anyone else? Just cannot seem to function.

Coco9910 · 31/07/2022 11:52

Hi everyone,

Thought id pop in here and say hello as I’m now 3 days over my due date and it’s looking like my July baby is actually going to be an August baby! Hope you are all doing well! :)

PopGoesBang · 31/07/2022 12:06

Back home currently after going in for induction this morning.
I didn't even think about it, but the midwife on Friday should have told me to stop the fragmin injections yesterday, and of course I took it this morning before heading off as normal. But that can have an effect on an epidural if needed so that could have been a pain. But as it happens labour ward was in full swing while I was in triage, and they wouldn't have been able to start me off with anything until later on anyways, so I've had all my checks, and rather than wait in triage all day they've let me come home on the promise I bounce and walk and eat well!

Back in at 6pm they'll put the pessary in and we'll go from there. Will also be 12 hours clear for the fragmin and they'll feel happier on that front too. So actually it's all ok and being able to be at home and feel freer is not a bad thing at all.

Having a wobble today in the place where I'm fed up being in so much constant pain in pregnancy, but the thought of labour now terrifies me and then the thought of bringing home a baby terrifies me more 🙈😂 send help

PopGoesBang · 31/07/2022 12:33

@Gem2811 if it helps I think that is totally normal!
While I have having my blood pressure and heart rate done earlier the midwife asked how I was feeling and then saw my heart rate and said clearly the answer was nervous!

The good thing is, you are so close and it will all be very much worth it. You'll be fine in labour (I'm assured the 'I can't do this moment' is something everyone has!) and you'll be an amazing mum and baby snuggles make it all worth while.

Feeling similar. My ribs are just constant shooting pains at this point from all the kicks and trapped nerves. But the thought of a c section plus a newborn is scary.

Also just generally feeling sooo uncomfortable and grumpy.

SantiagoSister · 31/07/2022 13:36

Welcome @Coco9910, sorry you’ve had to come over to the August thread but nice to see you here! How are you feeling today? Any niggles? No updates from me at all after my spicy curry last night 😂

Wishing you lots of luck for going back tonight @PopGoesBang! How exciting that you will be holding your baby in your arms soon 🥰

Mufflette · 31/07/2022 13:50

@Gem2811 I feel exactly the same! My day goes from waking up feeling relaxed and excited, feeling more uncomfortable and grumpy as the day goes on and by the end of the evening terrified of going into labour during the night and having to actually give birth.

Welcome to @Coco9910 and @Gemma273 ! And good luck @PopGoesBang, good that you're waiting it out at home rather than in hospital, maybe you'll have the first of the August-borns!

CoalCraft · 31/07/2022 14:09

37+1 today so yesterday was term day! So glad to know that whatever happens, I won't be having a premature birth ☺️

Am feeling mostly comfortable and relaxed at this point, just taking things day by day and waiting for labour to start whenever it wants to. Hoping it'll be another week or two so I can enjoy some time off, but if not, never mind. The only thing I'm afraid of really is the possibility of not getting to hospital in time, or them not taking me seriously when I get there. But hopefully things will be okay.

roughmeasures · 31/07/2022 14:19

Hi all

I've been a bit of a lurker recently (apologies!)

Our baby was due Aug 6th but arrived into the world last Sunday July 24th @ 1:55am.

Gender was a surprise but I was convinced they were a girl - turns out we'd grown a little boy - :)

We've been in Nicu since then and it's so hard not knowing when we can take him home but he's in good hands here.

Congrats to all who've had their little ones!

Coco9910 · 31/07/2022 14:23

@SantiagoSister thank you! No, had no niggles or anything! I had a sweep on Wednesday but doesn’t look like it’s done anything so will have another this week. I’ve had constant backache today though and hoping it’s the start of things! 🤞🏼 Sorry the curry hasn’t helped! I think I’ve tried everything now 😅 When are you due?

ToCaden · 31/07/2022 14:40

@roughmeasures yay. Another baby on the thread. Congrats on your boy.

miltonj · 31/07/2022 15:01

Congrats @roughmeasures amazing news!!

Can we set up the due date list, including those who have had? Would also like to see the boy/girl ratio! I would do it but I don't know how Blush

SantiagoSister · 31/07/2022 15:08

@Coco9910 sorry to hear your sweep hasn’t worked, how frustrating 😩 hopefully your next one will be the one which kicks everything off! The backache today could be a good sign, I’ll keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏼I’m with you on the having tried everything now I think 😅 I’m due on the 4th of August, I’m just very impatient 🙈

@CoalCraft pleased to hear you’ve made it to term, what a relief for you.

Congratulations on your lovely little boy @roughmeasures!

madeleine85 · 31/07/2022 15:14

@Beth262 sorry for the late reply. With my DD I lost weight at the end, apparently that’s a sign labour is near, and is pretty common, so hopefully that’s what it is. As long as your little one is over the 5-6lb range and close to 37 weeks I don’t think they worry too much.

@Gem2811 you have my sympathies, and same here re. Pain. Daytime feels fine but trying to sleep at night is so bloody painful. Not sure if anyone else has this, but he’s breech and it feels like his head is expanding my ribcage in some torture method, so I really can’t get comfy. Oh and his bum is on my bum and sometimes it really feels like he’s trying to exit that way. It’s lovely 😂. These are all issues I never had with my daughter, so first experiences here!

@CoalCraft that is such an amazing milestone given your history, so happy for you!!

@roughmeasures congratulations! Sorry to hear your little one is in the nicu, A few of us here had it with our first borns. If you need anything please just message. It’s incredible how strong the babies are that go through a nicu start, but there’s a huge emotional toll on the parents x

Big good luck to anyone either waiting right now or being induced this week/getting their section. I can’t wait to hear about your little one ❤️.

Gem2811 · 31/07/2022 15:25

Thanks everyone glad I'm not the only one! I seem to be plagued with lightening crotch 99.9% of the day everyday and I hardly sleep but if you mention that to anyone they just seem to laugh in my face and say its only going to get worse when the baby is here. I think I'm prob at the over sensitive stage but really want to punch some people with their unhelpful comments 😂😂

madeleine85 · 31/07/2022 16:06

@Gem2811 i strongly believe as birth is a pretty life changing traumatic event, at this point anyone with opinions is unlikely to say something helpful. Insensitive comments galore at this stage! If it helps, my friend here had a baby 6 months ago. Induction that didn’t take, had a section but pretty early so not too mug healing from the natural birth attempt. They baby has been an absolute dream, slept through the night from week 1. I’m not pretending that experience will happen to me, but it’s nice to know it’s possible 😂

ToCaden · 31/07/2022 16:16

@madeleine85 I am familar with the expanding ribcage torture method. Ouch.

I think I might have been enjoying pregnancy on the whole, but this last week or so since 37 weeks has been very trying. Everything hurts and is so very uncomfortable.

Then I happen to catch myself in the mirror and realise why I feel so very uncomfortable. I look like I've swallowed a large cannon ball. It's a double take every time I see my bump now as it's so huge.

Pregnancy is weird.

Gem2811 · 31/07/2022 16:24

@madeleine85 aw it is always good to hear good things as well so far this week I've had I bet your baby will be a heffer about 10 lbs and when I said i was going to pack shorts to come home from hospital in I was told well don't pack size 10 denim ones (which i don't own) cause its not like they are gonna fit are they!.... yeah thanks 😂
