Hello, I've been quiet a while but hopefully our IUGR baby is coming on August fourth by c section. We have fetal medicine on Wednesday though and they may make a call to go earlier. Desperate for him to be ok.

madeleine85 · 18/07/2022 23:11

@theotherfossilsister so sorry to hear you have an IGUR/FGR baby too. Are you doing ok? When did you guys find out vs what gestation are you at now? Not long now to wait, so crossing everything for you. If my doctors don't see any other problems mine will arrive somewhere between August 2nd and 9th at either 36/37 weeks, original EDD was the 30th. Right now we're hovering around 4% abdominal circumference, but he is asymmetric so the rest of him is more like 25%. I keep scouring the internet for real experiences of this type of baby, but it is all just medical studies really, so my anxiety is going crazy. The thought of another NICU experience is crushing me, but i've been told to get to accepting it now. Sending you a big hand hold x

Tacoboutit · 19/07/2022 02:49

Hi all, Baby Girl Taco arrived yesterday morning, almost 2 weeks ahead of planned c section date, weighing a very healthy 7lbs 5ozs. She’s absolutely perfect. My waters broke on Saturday night. Not that I was trying for that to happen, but I did have a curry on Friday night and went for a walk on Saturday morning. Coincidence? Not sure x

madeleine85 · 19/07/2022 03:49

@Tacoboutit huge congratulations on your baby girl ❤️❤️❤️. So glad to hear you’re all happy and healthy! What lovely news!

Tacoboutit · 19/07/2022 04:41

Thank you @madeleine85 - we’re both doing great and despite my elective section then having to change to a cat 3 emergency section, the whole birth was an extremely positive experience. Recovery so far is ok as well although I may have over exerted myself a bit today (and my emotions are another story - hormones combined with the fact my husband can only visit for 2 hours a day). We ladies, are incredible 💪

squatternutbosh12 · 19/07/2022 05:59

@Tacoboutit yay congratulations, wonderful news! ❤️ Must have been a surprise waters breaking off-plan! Did you then go into labour too, or did they do the c section before that happened? Glad everything is good and that you’re recovering well 😀x

squatternutbosh12 · 19/07/2022 06:13

@madeleine85 I can relate to this, I want my specific consultant too. He knows my medical history and is the only one who has actually demonstrated to me fully understanding it lol. Trying to be chill about it and accept plans can change (as you have evidenced!) but yeah, I feel ya! Having said that I’m sure the new doc who will be looking after you will also be excellent, and agree with previous point that she may even listen to your concerns re delivery/section more..
Regarding the section or not, is it something you can insist on? (You essentially can in uk, but I’m not sure what your ‘rights’ regarding choice in delivery method are over there) - It sounds like it would reduce some of your stress by a fair bit and your reasons are very valid.

Gem2811 · 19/07/2022 06:45

@Tacoboutit congratulations!

Beth262 · 19/07/2022 06:55

@squatternutbosh12 thanks so much! Yes it was a bit of a shock. I was in denial until yesterday when I realised she was here and had been here for 12 hours! I went to the bathroom and wiped and there was some pink and thought was it the start of my “show” so I called the EOU and they said to keep an eye and call back in an hour. I went for a shower then my waters broke when I got out. I then started having back pain every 15 mins or so. I was an elective section so got a section but if I changed my mind and wanted to go vaginally, they’re would’ve sent me home after waters breaking and told to come back in 24 hours to start delivery.

@Gem2811 & @Beth262 thanks both so much.

I’ve such a newfound respect for new mums. Absolute superheroes xx

Mufflette · 19/07/2022 07:17

Congratulations @Tacoboutit and welcome Baby Taco! Glad you're both doing well and hope you're home soon.

PopGoesBang · 19/07/2022 07:51

Congratulations @Tacoboutit glad you are both doing well. Go with the emotions, they'll settle soon!

ToCaden · 19/07/2022 08:24

@Tacoboutit congrats on baby Taco!

Cakecakecheese · 19/07/2022 08:58

Ooh another baby! Congratulations @Tacoboutit

It seems the weather should cool down tomorrow. Yippee.

Partner has tested positive for covid 🙄 I'm negative at the moment.

theotherfossilsister · 19/07/2022 09:00

That's brilliant @Tacoboutit . So glad she was a good weight though early.

@madeleine85 thank you, we're 34+5 today and honestly didn't think we'd make it this far. We were told at twenty nine weeks and at that point baby was below the centile line tiny for abdomen, but has now gone up to third or sixth centile depending which measurement they go with which is why they're ok to let us go to the fourth August which is thirty seven weeks as long as he doesn't go down centile chart again and blood flow stays ok. I so hope you get to ninth.

@squatternutbosh12 we're on the c section thread I think as we're booked in same day.

Last night went to nct class and someone bought their tiny baby who was born at thirty three weeks, three weeks ago. He was unbelievably tiny and precious. I couldn't stop staring.

mamaof2girls · 19/07/2022 11:15

@Tacoboutit congratulations on your baby girls. How early was she? Glad it all went okay and you now have her in your arms! X

SantiagoSister · 19/07/2022 13:51

Congratulations @Tacoboutit 🥰 So pleased to hear you’re both doing well! Such a good weight as well. I can imagine it all came as a bit of a surprise for you out of the blue like that! It’s really brought it home to me that it can be any day now, I’m sitting here thinking I’ll be pregnant forever and can’t imagine going into labour any time soon, but one of my due date buddies has now already given birth so it’s very possible indeed 😅

mamaof2girls · 19/07/2022 14:22

Has everyone packed their hospital bags and if so how far along we're yous when you did it? Am 35 weeks on Friday and still haven't 😂😂 x

Isonthecase · 19/07/2022 14:37

Congrats @Tacoboutit !

Wrote a long post but lost it so basically consultant is either talking about inducing from 37weeks or letting me go naturally whenever that is depending on bloods. So that's really cleared things up. I wish there was a nice chart you could look at to say if this happens you get this, if this happens you get this, just knowing the likely options!!

PopGoesBang · 19/07/2022 16:59

@mamaof2girls I had just a nightdress in my bag for weeks, then added some nappies. I'm pleased to say I think it currently stands that I could dress a baby and myself for 2 days without panicking I've not got enough. I do need to add phone chargers. Dp says he'll grab them on the way out the door but the fact I often have to ask if he has wallet and keys (and he's the driver) phone chargers may be the last thing on my mind!

@Isonthecase it's all a guessing game isn't it, even when things make it less of a guess there is still a massive unknown element.
I'm seeing the midwife on Friday, who was adamant I wouldn't need the appt because I'd be admitted at 37 weeks and be being monitored because of babies position. I'm half expecting her to cart me off there Friday just to make sure baby has actually moved (even tho the scan said head down). She's also the one who has insisted on manually measuring my belly and then making the growth chart look like I'm jumping ahead and then falling again. The consultant very nicely said we'll follow the line of the actual growth scans and not worry about the in between bits.
Fingers crossed you somehow get a more clear answer at some point!

Tacoboutit · 19/07/2022 17:04

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate it. And yes your babies could be here before you know it! @mamaof2girls she came at 37+2 and was 7lbs 5 ozs x

mamaof2girls · 19/07/2022 18:08

@PopGoesBang yeah I have sort off put stuff into a bag that has been like bought for myself but like baby's bag is yet to still be packed and still few bits to buy for mine. But when I had my second I put outfits into zip lock bags and labels with sizes etc so that if my partner had to go into the bag to get the baby's clothes he only had to grab one bag and it had a full outfit in it for the baby so thinking off doing that again this time!

@Tacoboutit aww what a lovely weight for her being early! X

KCat82 · 19/07/2022 18:27

@Tacoboutit congratulations. What lovely news to read.

Hope everyone is surviving this heat. Can't wait for Friday for 21 degrees and a bit of rain.

Had a consultant appt yesterday and they've said they want to deliver baby in week 37 because of GD and her growth being off the charts big. I should really have expected this but now I'm panicking that I haven't sorted my hospital bag yet.

I expect to be in hospital a couple of days after delivery, how much clothing should I take for baby? We have a couple of outfits with a hat, will she need her head covered all the time? Sorry, very new to all this 😊

squatternutbosh12 · 19/07/2022 19:20

@KCat82 we weren’t sure on clothes either, but I’m also expecting to be in for a couple of days at least, and have settled on 3 sleep suits, 3 vests, scratch mitts, hat & blanket in baby’s bag with some extras clothes in the car. I don’t know how much of the time the hat needs to be on actually! I would guess most of the time when they’re brand new as they lose a lot of heat through the head.

I met up with some ladies from my antenatal class this afternoon (air conned cafe soooo much nicer than my sauna of a house), and one brought her 4 day old tiny baby! It really hit home that it’s all happening so soon now 😯😯
(and no, I don’t know how she managed a coffee meet at 4 days post birth either. At that stage I imagine I will be in bed with milk/spit-up all over me, up to my eyeballs on painkillers, and hair like a bird’s nest)

KCat82 · 19/07/2022 20:12

@squatternutbosh12 thank you, that's really helpful and makes sense to have some spares in the car too.

It is all coming round very quickly isn't it? Fair play to your friend leaving the house with a 4 day old, but I imagine the thought of air con in this heat would swing it for me too!
