Aww that does sound a bit traumatic @laurenGame , but I'm glad your wee boy (another boy!) Is here safely and you're both ok now. 9 hours seems not too bad for an induction though, although a shame baby was getting a bit distressed in the end.

@Gaily82 I'm pleased someone else has beaten me in the snack front as I thought I was OTT haha.

Gaily82 · 29/06/2022 16:26

@laurenGame I'm so sorry about what you went through, it does sound traumatic and probably not the birth you had imagined. You are probably exhausted after not sleeping well last night and having the worry of what was to come, but hopefully after some sleep, you'll have time to process everything when you're ready. It must all feel quite surreal at the moment. Just take time to rest now and enjoy getting to know your baby boy over the coming hours and days. Giving birth is no mean feat, and not to mention growing and carrying a baby over the last 9 months, so you should be really proud of yourself. I'm thinking of you and sending hugs and positive thoughts xx

Lianna93 · 29/06/2022 16:26

Congratulations @laurenGame 🥰 Sorry to hear it didn't go as smoothly as you hoped - sending love your way 🥰

@laurenGame congratulations on the arrival of your little one, it sounds like you had a really hard time of it! Hopefully you’ll have a chance to process it all soon.
Remember you can ask for a birth debrief if you need it.
Sending a big hug xx

paintfairy · 29/06/2022 17:18

@laurenGame Congratulations! 🎉 Pretty sure the what have we done thing is normal. Its a massive change and also you are tired and hormonal. I can't imagine anyone thinks straight after birth, certainly not a stressful one.

ShellUK09 · 29/06/2022 17:21

Hi everyone, our baby girl Ava Joan arrived yesterday at 8pm and we are so in love 😍 it's been a difficult time as they were so worried about my blood pressure they wouldn't start the induction until it had come down. Once I had the gel in things started fairly slowly however as soon as I started feeling some contractions things ramped up very quickly. It wasn't the labour I had imagined as due to the health issues I was classed a high risk and wasn't allowed a water birth or even to use a birthing ball, I was strapped to a bed which wasn't what I had in mind at all. What really helped me in the early stages of labour was the tens machine for my lower back pain, it was amazing! They gave me an epidural to lower my blood pressure and this gave me confidence but it didn't entirely stop my back pain which soon ramped up. My hypno birthing breathing techniques and listening to music helped so much to keep my in the zone. Before I knew it I had gone from 4cm dilated to fully dilated and I was in the pushing stage, rather than screaming, thinking about the same sensations of doing a poo for extended times helped here rather than breathing out or screaming. I could feel the head ready to come out but couldn't quite get the energy to push her out myself so I got some help with the final push with a ventouse suction cup and one push later she was out and and on my chest 🥰 I'm still in hospital for monitoring and still rigged up to drips, dying to get out!

@ShellUK09 Congratulations on the birth of Ava Joan, that's a lovely name 😊She's adorable! Thank you for sharing your experience...I know it must be hard when the birth you imagined is different to the way it actually happens, but I'm so happy for you that she's here safely now. I've been reading about hypnobirthing techniques aswell and just hope that I can remember to breathe to try to keep in the zone when the time comes...I don't know yet how labour is going to feel so I'll just need to try to follow the breathing the best I can. It's good to know that it made a positive difference for you, and also reassuring to know that your tens machine helped you in the early stages, I've bought one too so hoping it has the same effect when it's my turn 🙂Good advice about focusing on the poo sensations too! I hope you're doing ok and won't have to stay in hospital for too much longer x

strawberrysummer19 · 29/06/2022 17:50

@ShellUK09 oh what a little beauty!
Well done you. I hope you have a nice rest now and your recovery goes smoothly x

MollyRover · 29/06/2022 17:50

@laurenGame totally normal feeling. After my first (very similar scenario to yours, albeit 72 hours, 60 without pain relief) I described the feeling as like being hit by a bus and then being handed a puppy. Congratulations, and you too @ShellUK09 Flowers Flowers Flowers

@Lianna93

KizboBaggins · 29/06/2022 18:13

@laurenGame congratulations! It sounds like it was traumatic for you, but I hope your little boy will be a focus for you and bring the newborn bubble happiness while you're recovering

@ShellUK09 congratulations to you too! She's absolutely gorgeous (great name too!) How much did she weigh?

I hope you're both recovering ok, and you should both be so proud of yourselves!

Junebaby22 · 29/06/2022 18:25

Hi ladies. I'm a newbie here and 40 weeks today!

Congratulations to all those that have welcomed babies already 🎉

I was on the June forum but it doesn't seem like today will be baby boys birthday or even tomorrow. I've been having period like cramps, pelvic pressure and belly getting hard on and off since Monday. These symptoms were really bad yesterday but lessened today, with baby's movement increasing (jabbing like movements in deep pelvic area). I'm not convinced this is early labour. Maybe braxton hicks?? I dont have anything to compare it to as i'm a first time mum🤷🏾‍♀️

We have a midwife appointment on Friday. Although I'm soooooo ready to meet baby boy, I plan to keep waiting it out for a spontaneous birth unless there's a sudden medical need for intervention.

I totally hadn't thought about hospital snacks. Thanks for the tip 😃

missv556 · 29/06/2022 18:59

Congratulations to all the ladies that have had their babies so far!

@strawberrysummer19 my boy has been 3/5 engaged since about 28 weeks, I'm 37+3 now so they can stay engaged for quite some time without it meaning anything much at all.

KizboBaggins · 29/06/2022 19:02

@Junebaby22 welcome! How are you feeling?

@missv556 did you feel any kind of drop when he became engaged? I'm just wondering if everyone feels the drop, or sees it, or whether it just happens to some people and not others

ChinChilly · 29/06/2022 19:19

@laurenGame congratulations!! I’m sure that feeling is normal, sometimes I think that already haha!

@ShellUK09 congratulations, she’s beautiful!

beetree1 · 29/06/2022 19:48

@Gaily82 wow I’m very jealous of your selection of snacks! I need to get shopping 😅

@laurenGame congratulations of the birth of your baby boy. Im sorry it didn’t go as planned and was a traumatic experience for you but it’s good that you’re already starting to talk about it. Giving birth is such a big thing!

@ShellUK09 congratulations and welcome to the world Ava!

@KizboBaggins i was getting terrible cramps and lightening pains down below which I hadn’t had yet then at my next appointment my midwife said the baby was 3/5 engaged which it wasn’t before. She said that’s probably what I was feeling.

@Junebaby22 welcome to the group! Hopefully you meet your baby very soon! I’m 37 weeks today and already extremely impatient 😂

Lianna93 · 29/06/2022 19:51

Congratulations @ShellUK09 She's absolutely precious 😍 Loving all these babies coming!

@JJ1992 Did I miss a post from you? 🤔😩 All I see is you've tagged me but there's nothing else

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 29/06/2022 19:57

@beetree1 I had the same feeling
Wasn't engaged at all before then a few weeks back I got pressure and pains in my pelvis so it was her moving down

@missv556 - also hearing in mind at that gestation baby would be much smaller at 28 to 36wks
My first was engaged from 32 wks and I still went full term and a day x

@laurenGame Congratulations! 🎉 Pretty sure the what have we done thing is normal. Its a massive change and also you are tired and hormonal. I can't imagine anyone thinks straight after birth, certainly not a stressful one.

I just don't think my husband quite got the feeling of 'we are so in love' yet that many describe on here. 😞 maybe I'm overthinking but we had a nice life before this and now it's crazy and I don't know if in a good way.

Thank you for the messages, I keep rereading them. And for the debrief advise it was good - so I was fully dilated but couldn't get the baby out. Turned out he had his fist next to his head and wouldn't move. That's where vacuum came into place but it was honestly the worst torturous feeling ever. I will never ever forget it!

laurenGame · 29/06/2022 20:58

@ShellUK09 congratulations ! A seemingly similar experience to mine (dilated 3cm to fully but had no energy to push), and I was doing 'trying to poo' pushes which weren't the screaming ones. But OB using vacuum was sometning else, I've never felt pain like it, how did you not find it hard haha? Grin did you get tears? I got small second degree he said. Everything hurts down there!

Junebaby22 · 29/06/2022 21:22

@KizboBaggins @beetree1 Thanks. I was feeling very impatient last week and worn down by the physical and emotional symptoms of hosting baby boy. But this week I've come to an acceptance that he'll be here when he and my body are ready.

He's been head down on my left side since about week 32. I think full on listening didn't happen until about week 36 when the heartburn disappeared and he seemed to be grinding on my left joint more 🙄

I realised I hadn't been out the house since last Friday, so just went for a walk to the local Italian for a non-bday meal with my partner. Was nice to be out. Did a bit of curb walking too.

NamelessBaby1 · 29/06/2022 22:54

@ShellUK09 congratulations, she's beautiful! I have a niece who is also an Ava Joan, it's a lovely name :)

Hi @Junebaby22 , congrats for making it to 40 weeks, lol! Hopefully your baby doesn't keep you waiting too much longer!

I've been so achey and uncomfortable today, it's really the first time in the 37 weeks so far I've felt this way so I don't feel I can complain, but I guess at least it's a sign things are progressing! At least I got my mural finished so it's just easy things to be doing from here on out.

ShellUK09 · 29/06/2022 23:31

@laurenGame I think the epidural really helped me down below (although it did nothing for my back) but it made me not feel the suction cup. I had used the boost button a few times as well just beforehand! I got a 2nd degree tear and had to have stitches but again I didn't feel this and didn't really notice her doing the stitches and they are dissolvable stitches. I'm the same though, I can't sit down easily today! Just wish I was out of hospital as feels like I will never get home, I know they are concerned but it is so hard meeting their criteria to get out, my temperature is slightly raised tonight and they are hooking me straight up to another drip...

annie1994 · 30/06/2022 01:13

Haven’t had time to properly catch up but just wanted to say @laurenGame congratulstions on the birth of your boy! Also, I promise you how you’re feeling is totally normally. I had a traumatic labour with my first and I felt exactly like you. It’s kind of like you’re shell shocked and just surviving for a bit. But I promise things do get easier and when you start processing what has happened you’ll get that huge love feeling for your child that everyone talks about. I was always ashamed to say it with my first but now I know my mind was just trying to process what had happened. Look after yourself and be kind to yourself!!

@ShellUK09 congratulations on your little girl! She’s gorgeous 🥰 the first girl of the group I think!?

SamanthaVimes · 30/06/2022 05:48

@ShellUK09 congratulations! Gorgeous little girl with a gorgeous name ❤
