Oh I did have forceps delivery and episiotomy so it's still sore in that area
Stitches seem to be healing well x

CaptainCarp · 28/07/2022 20:54

@Lianna93 I feel your pain & fingers crossed baby sleeps a bit longer between feeds for you tonight!

@julybubs I got dull ache / period type pain for quite a while. Usually accompanied by a bit more of a bleed. Your uterus is contracting for quite a while. I also felt bruised on my stomach for about 3 weeks but nothing visible on the outside.
Also often worse after doing the "crunching" exercises recommended.

julybubs · 28/07/2022 21:00

@CaptainCarp ah thank you feel reassured now
I'm so worried all the time just coz I think I feel so unwell after the blood transfusions I had and I feel so unwell that I worry about everything now!
Midwife's said the same it's just been more noticeable today x

KizboBaggins · 28/07/2022 21:25

What are peoples thoughts on waking to feed? Is it ok to let them sleep? Apart from the fact my boobs feel like they're going to explode, I'm reluctant to wake him.

Last night he went almost 5 hours without a feed and I woke up in a blind panic thinking he was going to starve

Last time he fed this evening was between 5.30 and 6.30pm and he's making no attempt to wake up right now

I'm not complaining at all and apologies to those struggling to get any more than an hour or so in between, I'm just anxious that I'm doing something wrong and don't know what to do for the best

SamanthaVimes · 28/07/2022 21:40

@KizboBaggins if you’re past birth weight it’s ok to let them sleep, before then I think you’re meant to wake them (although this only works if you’re awake too!)

Confusion101 · 29/07/2022 03:42

Aagghh I'm joining the mom crew. Baby girl born last night! Didn't think I could do it but the body is an amazing thing. Had gas and air, and a quick delivery. All going good so far!

KizboBaggins · 29/07/2022 07:18

@Confusion101 congratulations! 🥳

@SamanthaVimes my little chunker hadn't lost any weight at his 5 day weigh in so can only assume he's still gaining.

He fed and would not be put down from 10pm to 1am last night. DH finally settled him and I had to wake him up at 6am for food. He had a few gulps and is now back asleep 😬 should be counting my blessings but instead I'm just staring at him worrying

ChinChilly · 29/07/2022 08:15

@Confusion101 congratulations!

We’ve had an interesting 24 hours, I changed Amelia’s milk from cow and gate (hospital gave it while in NICu) to kendamil, she didn’t do a poop for almost 24 hours but has done 2 now but has just thrown up bright yellow sick and is being fussy with her feeds! I may be over worrying but I can’t help it with her rocky start! I’m not sure what to do?! I’ve got a list of midwife’s numbers but no idea who is is working today which is helpful 🙄

missv556 · 29/07/2022 08:21

@KizboBaggins I was waking to feed but honestly I can't be arsed cos I'm so damn tired. The one night he slept for 5 hours without a feed. I figure my baby isn't stupid so when he's hungry he'll let me know about it. He's very much like me once he actually goes to sleep, he's conked out and it's difficult to wake him haha so I just wait for him to wake naturally

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 29/07/2022 09:49

Hi everyone sorry I’ve not been online.. busy 3 weeks with 3 children.. birthdays, school holidays oh and a newborn 🤣
Congratulations to you all on the birth of your babies 💗💙
@ChinChilly I’ve read that it can take 2 weeks for a baby’s tummy to get used to a milk once you’ve changed it. I think my baby has reflux his on aptamil which I’ve had no issues with. He is feeding every 3 hours about 4ozs but does go longer at night time between 4-5 hours. He is very irritable during a feed, constantly hiccuping, gags and sometimes he projectile vomits what seems like the whole 4ozs of milk. He takes a very long time to settle after a feed up to 2 hours then it’s nearly time for his next feed. I was going to change to Kendamil as heard good reviews but have decided atm to stay on Aptamil till I’ve seen the HV or GP.
@KizboBaggins I have never woke up any of my 3 for a feed at night. They will wake up when they are hungry, but do what’s best for you x

SamanthaVimes · 29/07/2022 10:03

@KizboBaggins if he hadn’t lost weight at day 5 you’re doing brilliantly. I say this with love but for gods sake get some sleep yourself!

ShellUK09 · 29/07/2022 10:23

@Confusion101 congratulations! Sounds like a really positive (and quick) experience!

@ChinChilly we changed from cow and gate to Kendalmil and also had issues which made us go back to cow and gate. I know people say to persevere but our baby appeared to be in such pain after a feed, was really agitated most of the time and was doing loads of runny poos, and then when she started straining when doing a poo and there was some blood we ended up at the hospital to get checked out and the doctor suggested switching formula, so went back to cow and gate. She has been much more settled since going back and poos are all back to normal. I wanted to use Kendalmil as it seemed a better made formula, however with it being whole milk I'm wondering if it was too much for my baby. We still have to wind loads after a feed for her to settle though, and the health visitor said to keep her sitting upright in her bouncer chair for 20 minutes after a feed and this is helping. It's so hard to get this all of this right though!

ChinChilly · 29/07/2022 10:25

@Fizzybubblegumbottles ahh ok, guess she needs abit more time to settle then, we didn’t get any vomit after her 8:30 feed just a tiny bit of spit up so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 that does sounds like your little one has reflux, bless him it’s really difficult isn’t it. I asked my midwife about changing the milk as I assumed it would have to be a gradual thing but she said they are all very much the same so to just swap her over. The one thing I will say about the kendamil is very foamy so it’s difficult to tell how much she’s actually taking, you kind of have to leave it to go flat on the side after so you can tell. She’s doing about 1&1/2- 2 oz every 3 hours ish atm, I wish she would take abit more but I can’t force feed her.. she’s done 4 hours at night for the last 2 nights. I do agree sometimes it’s like you finish one feed and it’s almost time to start the other. Sleep when they sleep they say 😂😂 yeah right.

@KizboBaggins I also don’t wake her at night to feed, if she gets to 4 hours in the day I try get and her up but I do believe in they will let you know when they are hungry.

ChinChilly · 29/07/2022 10:32

@ShellUK09 I have to say I was tempted to give her a cow and gate bottle last night to get the poor girl to 💩 but she managed it in the end. Gosh that sounds scary, glad your little one is feeling better though, honestly the thought of going back to hospital terrifies me. I did wonder if the kendamil is a bit rich, I’ll stick with it for a few more days and see how she goes. She seems a lot more settled since her vomit fest this morning and hasn’t been sick since so hopefully she just needed to get it out of her system. I haven’t even seen my HV yet 🙄 I think I’m probs over worrying about every little thing but it’s so hard especially when she had a rocky start sometimes I just stare at her breathing to make sure it looks ok 🫣

annie1994 · 29/07/2022 12:04

@KizboBaggins once baby is back to their birth weight you’re fine to let them sleep for however long they want! Definitely take advantage 😂

KizboBaggins · 29/07/2022 15:12

@SamanthaVimes thanks, I needed that 😅 can't help but worry about everything!

I'm a bit peeved at my GP... I saw midwife on Sunday for baby's weight and she checked my stitches and did a swab because it was a bit swollen, to check for an infection.

Midwife called me today and said "Oh have you not heard from the GP? You've got an infection and need antibiotics." So I called the GP and they said they had no record of the swab results... they then called me back and said actually they did have the results... so I've been sat here for 5+ days with a bloody infection 🙄 no wonder I've been so uncomfortable!

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 29/07/2022 16:41

@ChinChilly its all trial and error with formula I do think most are the same. Hopefully the change will make a difference 🤞🏻 Bless her how old is she? I know you can’t force them to take more than they want but it will increase don’t worry lol! Ellis is just over 3 weeks old and has only really just started taking up to 4ozs. He is booked in to see the GP on Monday so hopefully can give some advice/prescribe something if needed. That’s if they want to sleep 🤣 inbetween washing and sterilising the bottles and everything else that needs doing lol when is there time to sleep 🤔🤣

Danani · 29/07/2022 16:51

So, I’m actually in hospital and looks like I might be getting induced as soon as a bed opens up (they’re apparently really busy).
I was so hoping for that natural birth center experience and it very much looks like I’m heading for the induction and labour ward. Trying to not feel disappointed. But also scared of the induction…anyone have anything positive to share to make me feel a bit better? 👀😭

ChinChilly · 29/07/2022 17:29

@Fizzybubblegumbottles she’s 10 days old and probs cut her abit of slack with her feeding because she was nil by mouth for a day or 2. i think the market is so heavily regulated they probably are all very similar, she has been so much more settled today and hardly any vomit since her outburst this morning. I know right, sometimes I feel like I’m on a constant cycle of feeding, winding, sterilising, washing and trying to keep some order in the house and that’s with OH here! God help me when he’s back at work

@KizboBaggins thats terrible, sounds like something my GP would do

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 29/07/2022 17:34

@ChinChilly seems like the change of milk may already be making a difference 🤞🏻 I feel the same I’m actually dreading it lol! 🤣I really need to do some housework but also need to find some energy🥱

CaptainCarp · 29/07/2022 17:59

@ChinChilly I check my little girl is breathing & she had no issues! Even my mum chef the other day as she was so quiet 😂

@KizboBaggins ouch! Hope you've managed to get your antibiotics and are feeling better soon!

I thought we were going to start going longer between feeds as Monday night she went 3-3.5 hrs but the last can of nights we've been back down to 2 hrs. Also been really fussy & not wanting to be put down in the day!

JJ1992 · 29/07/2022 18:58

@Confusion101 congratulations on the birth of baby girl! ❤️
@KizboBaggins thats quite scary, good thing your midwife is still following you up and caught onto it.

Guys advice needed! I for sure lost my mucus plug this morning then had another sweep (she said I was 1-2cm dialated 🥴) planned for induction Monday but Im hopeful things are gonnna get going before then. Ive had constant back cramps for around 30 seconds at a time since my sweep. I know early labour can start in the back or could just be post sweep. When counting contractions should i count these back cramps? Not feeling much in the front but it is hard.. Seems to be hard all the time though no real obvious contract/ release. Theyre still very short lived but fairly regular.. And dont resolve with changing postition. Hoping this is some early contractions!!

JJ1992 · 29/07/2022 18:59

Basically im asking can back cramps count as contractions or would it really need to be moving through to the front?

CaptainCarp · 29/07/2022 19:05

@Confusion101 congratulations on your baby girl!

@JJ1992 ON

CaptainCarp · 29/07/2022 19:06

@JJ1992 my labour definitely started with backache but I also had "cramps" in the front.
