Thank your everyone for your well wishes 💕 @KizboBaggins she was only 5 pounds so she is teeny and none of the clothes we brought in fits her! We have had to borrow some clothes from the special baby care unit for now

ChinChilly · 30/06/2022 07:36

@ShellUK09 oh my gosh only 5 pounds such a little dot 😍

I’ve woken up with a few drops of blood on my pad and still with that heavy period is incoming feeling, suppose I should get the last few bits and bobs packed into my hospital bag 🙈

missv556 · 30/06/2022 07:38

@KizboBaggins I don't really notice a change once he engaged because he's always been low down, he liked hanging around that area lol during one midwife appointment she couldn't find his heartbeat because she was looking higher up near my belly button and I told her I'd felt movement lower down earlier in the day so she checked and sure enough he was down there and she said at the gestational age he was she wouldn't expect him to be that low! And this is why I've had varying degrees of pelvic pain since early 2nd trimester. Coupled with the fact he's a chunk as well, my pelvis is in tatters at this point and if his head engages any more I might not survive. I'm in near enough constant pain, I've shed a few tears cos I am struggling with it quite a bit tbh. Very much fed up and ready to be done with this process like everyone else is. I heard that late pregnancy was rough but damn.

strawberrysummer19 · 30/06/2022 07:46

@missv556 that's how I feel, I also think I have thrush/uti (again) feel like it's been constant this pregnancy so will be calling the DRs at 8am 😳x

strawberrysummer19 · 30/06/2022 08:59

I honestly feel like I'm on speed dial to triage
They must hate me !

I've had a little trickle of water discharge this morning
I can't wear pads as it irritates my bits
Constant thrush and Utis!!

Anyway I've called triage and they've said to come in to be checked

Anyone had this ? I'm 36+2

If anyone remembers my post here Tuesday
My scan showed fluid on the low side but midwife said not to worry all looked ok just on low side

Anyway I have a pic to show of my knickers TMI but if anyone can help?

On way to triage but just in the mean time

X

KizboBaggins · 30/06/2022 09:08

@ShellUK09 I thought she looked teeny! Absolutely adorable 😍 Hope you get out of hospital today

@missv556 oh bless you, that sounds pretty horrendous! You're amazingly strong to have powered through that for so long. You should be very proud, and it won't be long now!

@strawberrysummer19 Good luck at triage, hope you're not feeling too bad - let us know how you get on

Mattieandmummy · 30/06/2022 09:45

@laurenGame and @ShellUK09 congratulations!!!

@laurenGame I think it's perfectly normal to not feel that instant rush of love that people talk about especially after a traumatic birth. I certainly didn't instantly love my first. There's lots of help post birth for mental health so if you think you might be struggling don't suffer in silence. Both your GP and community midwife and even the health visitor can help with access to help x

Mattieandmummy · 30/06/2022 09:48

@missv556 late pregnancy with a big baby is rough especially once they really start running out of room.

My growth scan at 37+4 yesterday estimated fetal weight right now at over the 99th per centile. She's already 4kg (!?!!!!!!) So I feel your pain.

missv556 · 30/06/2022 12:01

Had my consultant call about an hour ago. My elective section is booked!!! So relieved. Roll on 13th July, countdown is officially on!

Lianna93 · 30/06/2022 14:17

@missv556 Very exciting that you've got your date now 😁 Hopefully it flies in for you 🤞🏻

I had my midwife today - baby is finally engaged but only 4/5 - so still a bit of moving down to do 😩
Seeing her again next week (assuming baby isn't already here) & have been offered the sweep if I want it - will see how I feel closer to the time. I'm not particularly keen on the idea but I'm also not keen on the idea of being pregnant longer than necessary 😂😂

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 30/06/2022 14:50

@missv556 that's exciting!i think I'll take a sweep if offered as I'm being induced anyway and they do them after the pessary anyway but will see how I go

Finally after 4 hours of maternity triage (so much for a big long list of things to do on my 2nd day of mat leave 🤣) least it's filled this week
As I was wondering what to do in 3 wks
Haven't started on washing baby bits or opening stuff ( that's next weeks plans ) have a lunch date tomorrow and booked a hair cut for next week was so worried I'd be bored and feeling strange off work but it's actually lovely! Especially as the 1st 3 weeks is annual leave

Anyway....call back from GP it shows signs of infection so treating for suspected uti - they've sent it off to the lab to confirm but have antibiotics to collect this afternoon along with thrush cream

CTG in triage was fine - they do that as a precaution even though when in with suspected leak of fluid
For anyone who hasn't had this, they make you wear a pad for a while and then they do an examination- similar to a smear to test and it came back that she doesn't think it's amniotic fluid
(Thank god) she said it's a 99% so they can never be 100 but I'm to wear pads and now monitor

I did have a final growth scan in 2 weeks but she's ordered me one for 1 week to test the fluid and I still have my growth scan 2 wks later so I'm more than happy I'm being scanned weekly

She said my fluids were on the low side of normal but at my next scan they expect to see the same result or higher to be good result
If not she said they will discuss next steps which by then I'll be 37wks term so feeling as reassured as I can be!

Nor enjoyed the last few weeks

Thrush/uti/one case of increased movements and this morning this leak

Is it ok to say I am so done being pregnant?!

Can't seem to relax or concentrate on anything else - just wishing time away which I really didn't want to feel

How is everyone doing today?

X

MollyRover · 30/06/2022 15:08

@strawberrysummer19 feel exactly the same but also terribly bored now. Physically I can't really do anything because I'm so heavy and not sleeping so tire easily. Missing DH and DC1 during the day and there are only so many books, podcasts, series. Baby has dropped but it's just a waiting game now. 12 days to due date Sad

strawberrysummer19 · 30/06/2022 15:11

@MollyRover horrible feeling isn't it
Feeling a bit sorry for myself ! Wishing it's over lol

I have a week behind you. Next week and week after if I get there will be long, this hasn't been so bad but just trying not to get fed up as know that won't help the situation!

So glad we have this group!!

X

Lianna93 · 30/06/2022 15:47

@strawberrysummer19 Been such an ordeal for you but glad you're feeling more reassured now.
I'm absolutely with you on being done though. My due date is on Tuesday - the more I think about it, the more I think I'm gonna accept the sweep - I had wanted to go as long as I could without intervention but I'm in agony all the time that I just can't see me doing this for another 2 weeks potentially.
Poor DH has to help me in & out of the shower and help me get out of bed in the mornings 🙈

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 30/06/2022 16:01

@Lianna93 I don't blame you at all
My friend sweep didn't even make any difference but I think in your position I would try
I'm so flexible this time - what will be will be

And I'm surprised how quick I've turned from feeling ok to feeling like I'm done and I still have 2.5 wks until being induced! But since hitting 3 wks trying to tell myself it's not that long really

I know tell me about it, that's what I'm struggling with not feeling like I can do things myself and my fiancé is great and always says sit down! But sometimes it's so frustrating

Cannot wait to give baby a big cuddle now
Which I'll take the labour and sleepless nights!! X

SamanthaVimes · 30/06/2022 16:14

@strawberrysummer19 disposable pads irritate me too. I’ve got some reusable pads and period pants and they’re soooo much comfier!
Might be worth a look as you’ll have to use something for a few weeks afterwards

strawberrysummer19 · 30/06/2022 16:23

@SamanthaVimes oh they sound good, I just hate the thought of anything else irritating down there! Already dropped soap, nice shower gels and I don't even have a bubble bath - miss them all! Use simple and that's it! Washing my hair and putting hot shower on my back very strategically as I also have this sore tummy/rash thing that I've just come to terms with won't budge - everything is a chore!

X

Lianna93 · 30/06/2022 16:31

@strawberrysummer19 That's my fear is that it won't work & then I've put myself through something so unnecessarily traumatic (for me) But as my DH has said, this isn't a stranger doing the sweep, it's my midwife who I've known for 9 months & have a trusted relationship with her & she's very understanding of my PTSD & reluctance to accept cervical checks etc.. she's definitely not pressuring me to do it & has said its completely my choice but she'll make the time for me if I do want it.

I'm right there with you feeling frustrated at the lack of being able to do things. It's not in my nature to just sit & relax. I want to be up & doing things and I just simply cannot 🙄

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 30/06/2022 16:48

@Lianna93 it's nice having that feeling where you are in control. Maybe it's better to let your midwife do it that you know rather than a stranger in hospital if it comes to it.

It's just horrible what we have to go through in order to get our little bubs here isn't it?!

So glad I'm not the only one - people around me seem to enjoy pregnancy so much! Don't get me wrong, it's wonderful and such an amazing thing women can do I just wish I felt a tad more comfortable to enjoy the last bits and wish I didn't have so much anxiety

Im sure the end feels worse than the beginning when everything was so new

Happy to talk whenever you like. I feel I have ptsd from my previous birth, that's what my debrief midwife put in my notes....I'm just hoping this one I don't come out with the weight on my shoulders like I did the last time. I still feel so sad. I feel this time I'll have more Control rather than feeling at their mercy and going into panic mode xx

Lianna93 · 30/06/2022 17:04

@strawberrysummer19 That's what I'm thinking - Lesser of an evil having my midwife do it than a stranger.
I get so hard on myself because things that should be so routine puts me straight into that 'fight of flight' 🙄
My best friend is a paramedic & has delivered babies before, so I'm having her be one of my birth partners so I have that security blanket of having someone in the room with me that I completely trust & knows all the medical lingo & such - it'll also allow DH to focus solely on me & take the pressure off of him having to advocate.

I've genuinely not enjoyed any part of this pregnancy- which has made me feel so guilty but between the hyperemisis, the anxiety & depression and now all the aches and pains, it's just not what I had imagined at all - I honestly take my hat off to everyone who's done this multiple times!

Really wishing you a better birth experience this time around 🤞🏻 I can't imagine how it must feel looking back on something that's supposed to be so joyous with a lot of sadness.

Lots of hugs @Lianna93 , sounds like you’ve got things put in place to try and help you through as much as possible.

I had a sweep today, was really dreading it, but my midwife was lovely and really calmed me down (as was DH who just kept reminding me to breathe 😁)

hoping it gets things moving, not sure if I’m imagining slight back pain / “down there” twinges or if I’m now searching for any kind of sign…

she said I may get some spotting etc so been wearing a pad all day - incidentally I also hate the buggers! - but nothing so far beyond the usual discharge. So feeling a bit “meh” it may not have worked

Lianna93 · 30/06/2022 17:23

@HotToddyColdSauvignon Thank you lovely 🥰

Hopefully your sweep works & baby will be here before you know it 🤞🏻🥰

Congratulations @laurenGame and @ShellUK09 on your gorgeous little babies!!! How amazing that they’re finally here! Hope you are enjoying the newborn bubble!

@laurenGame I’m so sorry you had such a tough birth, and things have not gone as planned. Just wanted to say I’m sending you a big fat virtual hug! Do not feel bad for feeling how you’re feeling at the moment, it is normal and it will pass! It’s a huge event and a bug change so just try to give yourself the same grace and kindness that I’m sure you would give to a friend in your position! x

@ShellUK09 Ava is perfection! Such a tiny little thing! Also sorry to here your birth has not been as smooth as you’d hope, but hopefully newborn life treats you well!

@strawberrysummer19 and @Lianna93 - sending you both a big squeeze! You’re almost at the finish line now! Hopefully not too too long until you meet your precious little angels, but I completely understand how you’re feeling. I’ll be 36 weeks on Mon and the bump is now getting quite big and heavy! I cannot wait to be able to cuddle my baby and hold her in my arms, and to sleep on my tummy again!!!

It is so exciting how things are starting to happen here now that we’re on the cusp of July! Cannot wait to read more updates and see more gorgeous little souls!!!

CatMumFTM22 · 30/06/2022 17:46

@strawberrysummer19 Feeling the same over here. I feel so heavy and tired. It's hard to think about much else besides baby things.

I just do what I can and rest lots in between. Seems I need a lie down after everything, even just doing a load of washing. Doesn't help that it's roasting hot where I am, but thank goodness for air conditioning.

My mood has also taken a dip in these last weeks (Am at 36 weeks just now) Anyone else feeling low as they get near their due date?

Danani · 30/06/2022 17:50

@CatMumFTM22 I’m not too far behind you (will be 36 weeks on Mon), and my mood is a bit all over the place tbh. One minute I’m happy, excited, feeling this massive sense of calm, the next I just want to cry for no particular reason, feel anxious and overwhelmed. I think it’s probably just the hormones, and the impending birth which I’m equally excited and petrified about!
