@paintfairy aw congratulations!! So happy to hear all the babies arriving. Sounds like you did amazingly 💖💖💖

Well my midwife told me over the phone I'm in early labour now, so could be tonight or tomorrow night depending how I progress she said🤞 In fact she said it sounds like I was in early labour the last few days, I had no idea because symptoms were coming and going so massively, I thought I was nowhere near.
Today I'm powering through regular mild to moderate contractions now and had a bloody sore this morn. They say keep busy and keep your mind occupied but my contractions will definitely not let me do that!! Just pacing the floor. Here's hoping she arrives soon, I'm ready to get this show on the road! 😅💖

Lianna93 · 26/07/2022 17:33

Congratulations @paintfairy & best of luck @Hope3821 So exciting that almost all our babies are here 🥰

Who else is left to go? 🥰

I’m also still waiting at 39+1 and not a single sign in sight. 🙈

Lianna93 · 26/07/2022 18:33

Hopefully not too much longer ladies 🤞🏻

Congratulations to everyone over the last week who have had their babies! We were discharged from hospital last night so it’s been lovely to be home! Baby is doing well, I’m still quite sore from the section and my feet and ankles are hugeeee! But just so relieved to be home!

Hope everyone is well, not many babies left to arrive now!

NamelessBaby1 · 26/07/2022 19:54

@DayToNight I wonder if you were in the same ward as me last night! You wouldn't have missed is, my wee one was clearly a foghorn in a previous life and was making her disdain for life known all night long 🤦 did you get home today? We got away about 3, the walk from the ward to the car was a bit of an epic task though haha, hadn't felt too bad until that point!!

@Danani haha thankfully my parents were able to come over for the shopping - although they also had to make a trip via other hospital to collect our keys!!

@Lianna93 that's hilarious, as another Lanarkshire girl I'd always prefer weegie to Edinburgh lol.

CaptainCarp · 27/07/2022 00:56

@paintfairy congratulations on your baby girl!

@ChinChilly so glad to hear you've been discharged!

@Hope3821 fingers crossed it's soon for you

missv556 · 27/07/2022 07:54

@ChinChilly my little man is 2 weeks old today and my feet have only just started to go down. I've been wearing sliders cos that's all I could fit but yesterday I could put my trainers on for the first time in like 2 months so it gets better eventually.

So has anyone else leaked breast milk all over their baby yet or is it just me? 😅 we were feeding yesterday and when he finished my top was completely soaked and the boy was wet so had to change his outfit. I just dont even feel when I'm leaking tbh

KizboBaggins · 27/07/2022 08:25

@missv556 I am leaking absolutely everywhere. Even the dog has been leaked on.

Also I don't want to wear anything on top during the night so every morning the bed is soaked too... hoping it settles down soon!

DayToNight · 27/07/2022 08:31

@NamelessBaby1

How funny, mine was the other baby that was crying. We left at 3:30, must have just missed each other. Typical partner strode off and I got 15 mins shuffling to the car, then we couldn't remember how to use the car seat Blush

NamelessBaby1 · 27/07/2022 10:02

@DayToNight typical, haha, I had to keep reminding my OH I'd had my nethers cut open so get him to slow down a bit, lol. I'd made him practice with the car seat on advance so thankfully we at least got that bit done ok!! The wards were so hot weren't they?! Must have been unbearable last week!

@missv556 and @KizboBaggins I guess that's something to look forward to over the coming days, lol. We've been doing much better with feeding overnight (although I struggle to bring myself to wake her up even though I know I have to), but my nipples are starting to get a bit achey.

KizboBaggins · 27/07/2022 10:10

@NamelessBaby1 I hate waking him up to feed but my one giant boob needs to be drained regularly otherwise I'm afraid it will explode lol

We went for a walk the other day and DH was literally on another street before he realised I was waddling along about half a mile behind him 🙄

How often are peoples babies waking at night?

JJ1992 · 27/07/2022 12:02

@Hope3821 fingers croased things are getting going for you now 😊🤰

Im 40+5 now, have to say im a little surprised at how little input midwife has at this stage. We have a scan to check placenta at 41 w and an appt with her at 41+ 2 to discuss induction next week. Otherwise feel a bit on my own, no idea if im in any kind of labour (guessing not as im pretty mobile and managing okay)
I do however have the 'purple line' wondering if anyone else has heard of it / knows about it? Seems a bit of an urban legend, also couldve had it before pregnancy because ive never looked there before 😂

Peters27 · 27/07/2022 12:06

@KizboBaggins my little one wakes roughly 2/2.5 hourly!we have what people keep telling me is witching hours between 12 and 2/3 where she wakes everytime I put her down so ends up.on the boob for ages! Also for those leaking could you catch milk in the haka?you could freeze?I don't leak and managed to collect 40mls from rhe other boob after 3 feeds-i used it to top her up during those extremely warm days!Have stopped now again but plan to use it regularly in the coming weeks!it's dead handy!

SamanthaVimes · 27/07/2022 12:41

@KizboBaggins I try not to look at the clock too much but I’d say he’s waking roughly every 2 hours, maybe with one longer stretch but it’s a bit variable as to when that is.
Its the nappy changes that are killing me rather than the feeds though, I’d forgotten how often you have to change them when they’re tiny! Can’t wait til he stops pooing at night and I can keep us both a bit sleepier!

ShellUK09 · 27/07/2022 13:05

Congratulations to everyone who has recently given birth! 💕

@SamanthaVimes last night I got about 30 minutes of sleep... Every time I put her down she cried, she seemed to just want to be held. I'm hoping she was just having a growth spurt last night and this isn't the norm! It's absolutely exhausting isn't it? Usually she wakes every 3 hours for a feed but last night she was awake all night! My partner has gone back to work today too, it's been a tough day! Trying to remember things will get better in a few weeks, but right now it is just about survival and getting through each day

DayToNight · 27/07/2022 13:33

@ShellUK09 https://www.instagram.com/p/CVGNLt2g__9/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
My friend sent me that link, which helped me get a little bit more sleep

SamanthaVimes · 27/07/2022 13:52

@ShellUK09 that sounds knackering! Hopefully you’ll have a better night tonight.
Bad timing with your partner going back to work as well
Definitely just about survival at the moment.

Might be worth looking up safe bedsharing for tonight and getting the bed clear of covers and stuff even if you don’t intend to do it but just in case you fall asleep accidentally?

ShellUK09 · 27/07/2022 15:19

@SamanthaVimes yes it is knackering, not sure I can manage for long on so little sleep! It's been a huge shock to the system. She has slept a lot today anyway but now I'm wondering if I should try to keep her awake so she is tired later... There's so much I don't know, I'm glad Mumsnet exists! I definitely think father's need more paternity leave as no baby is in a routine after a few weeks, and he didn't get a lot of sleep either last night.

@DayToNight thanks for this! Glad it has worked for you 🙂

KizboBaggins · 27/07/2022 15:31

@Peters27 yes I just started using the Haakaa after midwife recommended it - it's fantastic! I've managed to collect like 200ml in a few days thanks to my engorgement lol

We even managed to give him some breast milk out of a bottle last night. It's early but want to be sure that he will take both boob and bottle and midwife said the earlier the better to try him on bottle. Very relieved it worked, so will probably give him half a bottle feed every few days to maintain

@SamanthaVimes ahh yeah the nappy changes wake him (and me) up far too much!

@ShellUK09 bless you, that's the kind of thing I'm dreading happening but I know it will... last night he had a feed at midnight, woke and ate 3.30-4 and then I had to wake him up at 7.30! It's far too good to last...

And I totally agree about paternity. 2 weeks is absolutely nothing and it flies by. How are you finding your first day alone? I'm so nervous for it!

ChinChilly · 27/07/2022 16:01

@ShellUK09 oh gosh that sounds exhausting, our night on the transitional care ward was pretty tough I thought I got an hour or 2 between 4-6. It feels soul destroying. I love the saying sleep when they sleep, it’s early days here but I don’t think I’ve slept once when she’s slept in the day there’s always something to do!

my OH has 4 weeks off but even that doesn’t feel like anywhere near enough, he isn’t back until 21st August and I’m already dreading it 🙁

@KizboBaggins about 2-3 hours here too, the hospital midwife’s told me to wake her up if it gets to 4 hours hours which has only happened once so far but it seems wrong 😑

@SamanthaVimes the night time nappy changes are really hard, this one seems to like to poop on a clean nappy aswell. By the time they’ve fed, burped and been changed it’s almost time to go again 😂

Confusion101 · 27/07/2022 16:09

@JJ1992 are they bringing you in at 41 + 2 for induction or to discuss it? That seems quite late? Agree about the midwife.

I'm 40 + 3 and have been booked in for induction tomorrow... Nervous! Anybody have any advice? Have the bag packed but prob going to be in longer than I anticipated now so any packing tips?

KizboBaggins · 27/07/2022 17:55

@Confusion101 snacks, snacks and more snacks! I was only in from 7am until 10am the next day but was only given a slice of toast and a jacket potato. By the time I felt well enough to eat DH had been sent home so thankfully I had a bag of snacks to get me through the first night. Good luck for tomorrow! Hope you get some sleep tonight.

One of my stitches came out this afternoon. After a major panic and a call to the GP (who was useless and said to call the postnatal ward even though I've been discharged from midwifery), I finally got through to a midwife who assured me it was normal to find threads in my knickers... I had assumed because they were dissolvable I wouldn't see anything but just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has it and starts to panic like I did!
