Thread 5 is about to fill up, here's another one!
Wonder how many more babies we'll meet before we get to July 🥰

@CaptainCarp your levels sound similar to mine
I just don't want my levels to drop where I need all transfusion again

My midwife has just been for 5 day check
All good but she has suggested I increase to 3 a day
I'm quite happy to as I still feel weak and tired and until I feel better maybe then drop to 2 a day.

My MIL has turned up unannounced
I had a morning planned of all the things I needed to do and also the midwife came and she stayed for that
Feel mean but sometimes you just want to chill in your pjs and even chatting about other stuff is tiring for me. Also she has seen us nearly every day since Wednesday so just need some time now
Am I being mean?
X

@JJ1992 oh you too! I feel you!! I'm booked in for another sweep on Friday of she hasn't appeared by then. Yeh my midwife said I might get spotting and annoying cramps but I was so sure they were lasting so long that I was on the way, but nope! I can't tell the difference between my back ache, BH, baby moving and me just imagining things! 😅

Yeh I'm ftm and the waiting is making me go crazy thinking about labour and how I'll handle it! I think fear has a lot to do with it, I've been using the Gentlebirth app sporadically in the hope it'll help, even if just a little.

Coco9910 · 25/07/2022 16:51

@strawberrysummer19 no you aren’t being unreasonable! Nobody should be turning up unannounced when you’ve just had a baby, let alone every day! Can your partner not ask her to pre arrange any visits? It would annoy me!

SamanthaVimes · 25/07/2022 16:57

@strawberrysummer19 I’d be really annoyed if my MIL kept turning up every day! Get your DP to have a gentle word. I’m sure it’s because she’s excited but you need time to rest and recover

Well baby Ailidh made her grand appearance today, pre-empted her induction by a day . Was all go this morning with sickness and bloody show all at the same time (my poor bathroom haha), and contractions came on so strongly I only managed 2 hours at home before having to head to the hospital. We then we're diverted to a different hospital as our local one was full, so that was fun dealing with the Edinburgh bypass at 9am on a Monday haha - great timing baby!

Was only 2cm on arrival, but as contractions were so regular they kept me for monitoring, and I and to go to the labour suite for doctor supervision as baby's heartbeat kept dropping. I asked for an epidural after about a hour as I was really struggling - in retrospect I was feeling the need to push pretty early on but I didn't realise that, just thought it was horrendous contractions in my butt lol. Anyway the first attempt at epidural didn't work (couldn't get the catheter thing in), then my midwife realised I was very pushy so checked and I was fully dilated - that was about 1pm. So finally got some has and air (I'd hade one codeine tablet previously) and got onto pushing. Unfortunately baby wasn't in a hurry to make her way out, so ended up going into surgery for a forcep delivery - spinal blocks are the bee's knees haha, made such a difference and I could actually speak again after spending the previous several hours sitting in a total painful daze! It went very well, and after baby had a bit of mucus cleared from her lungs she has been great.

Feeding has been interesting so far, lol, but we'll see what tomorrow brings! Amazing how quickly I've gone from being a bit anxious about breastfeeding in public to just whapping them out in public, including in front of my parents haha! She's such a wee doll though, don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight as I just want to keep watching her!

Should have said she finally arrived at 2.20 on the dot, so not too long a labour all in lol from 5.30 this morning!

KizboBaggins · 25/07/2022 20:33

@NamelessBaby1 congratulations!! She's beautiful 😍 glad she's here safely and hope you're recovering well

Yep I'm the same - so many people have seen my boobs in the past 6 days and I couldn't care less 😅

Lianna93 · 25/07/2022 21:13

@NamelessBaby1 congratulations lovely! Can't believe we had a conversation about being in labour on the bypass - you're an absolute champ for handling that!

@Lianna93 lol I know! Thankfully wasn't too horrendous given its the holidays, but was still unexpected given I thought we'd just be 5 mins travel lol.

@KizboBaggins glad I'm not the only one, haha.

SamanthaVimes · 25/07/2022 21:47

Congratulations @NamelessBaby1

JJ1992 · 25/07/2022 22:14

@NamelessBaby1 congratulations! Sounds like a really positive story all round. What a day youve had 😊😊 hope you and baby get home soon

@strawberrysummer19 you habe every right to be frustrated. It puts you in such an awkward position having to address it too. You would think having been there sometimes people should know better!
Hope its not causing you too much stress. 🤺

Hope3821 · 25/07/2022 23:12

Oh wow congratulations @NamelessBaby1 💖💖 sounds like it was a bit of a whirlwind to start but so happy for you and your fam 💖

2littleloves · 26/07/2022 02:28

Hi guys!

Seem to have fallen off the thread when the 6th one was made! Just an update that our third baby, our first little girl was born yesterday at 19:38. She kept us waiting until 2 days before due date.

Really positive birth story, contractions started 5:30, got to hospital at 18:45 and baby was born in pool at 19:38 no time for pain relief. We were discharged at 22:00 and never been happier to be allowed to my own bed.

Breastfeeding is going well and will have the midwife later on this afternoon to do all of the checks.

Good luck to everyone still awaiting the arrival of their little one x

DayToNight · 26/07/2022 04:44

Our little boy arrived yesterday at 06:30 am after a balloon induction. Ended up with EMCS but looking to go home today.

@NamelessBaby1 I'm based in Edinburgh too currently at the RIE, small world!

Danani · 26/07/2022 06:00

Oh wow!!! Congratulations @NamelessBaby1 , @2littleloves and @DayToNight on your new arrivals!!! So happy for you all!

@NamelessBaby1 but what about that Morrisons delivery? 👀😂

Lianna93 · 26/07/2022 09:26

Ahh more babies 🥰🥰
Congratulations @DayToNight & @2littleloves !!

Lil bit jealous of @NamelessBaby1 & @DayToNight having your babies at the Royal 🙈😂 I was born in the simpsons & always thought that's where I'd have my baby too but because I moved to Lanarkshire, I had to have mine in Wishaw so I've got a wee weegie baby 😭😂😂
Praying she picks up my Edinburgh accent though 🤞🏻😂😂

JJ1992 · 26/07/2022 09:44

@Lianna93 little weegie baby 😂 this made me chuckle. I was born in lanarkshire but now live up north, will have a little country baby!

CaptainCarp · 26/07/2022 10:28

Congratulations @NamelessBaby1 @2littleloves @DayToNight on the your new arrivals!

@strawberrysummer19 you're not being mean! I had a PJ day planned when baby was 2 weeks as we had a busy weekend. Was literally asleep on the sofa when the health visitor turned up!
Even DP had to try & find some clothes to put on as he was just in boxers before answering the door 😂

Is your MIL helpful or is just coming round to chat / see the baby? It's a bit different if she has been helping tidy or put thr washing out or something but you srill need days to yourself.

Lianna93 · 26/07/2022 11:12

@JJ1992 I'm gonna use all the Edinburgh slang to make sure she gets the right accent 👌🏻😂 It's yin - no wan! It's bairn - no wain! 😂😂
Wee country baby 🥺😂

Anyone got any advice on what to do about one overly swollen breast (EBF)? Online advice isn't that helpful... I'm icing after a feed, then it says to do warm compress before a feed but I don't exactly know when the baby is going to feed and don't want to stimulate too early. I've used a Haakaa to relieve some pressure, but I'm conscious not to use it too much because then I'll just create more 😬

I'm worried about mastitis. Baby is still latching to it but not as well as the other boob (which is a role reversal from two days ago)

I don't see HV until Monday and midwife isn't gonna see me again (they just said they'd call on Friday but idk why). Apologies for the essay, I realise it's not that big of an issue lol but any advice or just reassurance is appreciated 😅

kiwi17 · 26/07/2022 13:03

@KizboBaggins sounds like it could be a blocked duct? I really struggled with those with my daughter. Lots of warm flannels and try to keep feeding on that side if you can - if you can kind of hold the boob in a way that helps her to latch then she might be able to get more out. Then once latched see if you can gently massage the sore bit towards the nipple to unclog if that makes sense? I feel your pain it's horrid!

KizboBaggins · 26/07/2022 13:14

@kiwi17 thank you! Can I use warm flannels even when I'm not feeding him? I'll make sure I get him to feed off it first next time and try massaging too. He has been latching well but he's so wriggly it's not easy to manoeuvre him or the boob when it's absolutely massive - I look so lopsided it's hilarious 😅

kiwi17 · 26/07/2022 15:07

@KizboBaggins Sorry him not her!! Yes I would keep massaging it if you can - the aim with a blocked duct is to get it down to the nipple so you could try hand expressing a bit too. Haha I know the pain - I have big boobs on a normal day so atm they're huge compared to this tiny newborn face 😂

SamanthaVimes · 26/07/2022 15:27

@KizboBaggins I agree with what @kiwi17 has said. If it’s one spot in particular that’s sore you can try and position the baby so they’re drawing milk from that bit. Google “dangle feeding” it looks ridiculous but if you’ve got a stubborn blockage it might help you out

paintfairy · 26/07/2022 15:30

@2littleloves @NamelessBaby1 @DayToNight Congratulations on your babies! 🥳🎉

My baby was born on Sunday! Bang on the due date the hospital gave me and on my induction date. 🤣 Whole thing was mental and a complete whirlwind. Waters went 4.30am. Headed to hospital around 7am. Baby girl born 10.52am. Only ended up with gas and air but I think purely because no one listened to me and acknowledged the baby was coming. 🙄 Had a couple of stitches but nothing too bad. 6lb 13oz she was.
Struggling a bit with feeding as i think she's just not getting enough, and she's also getting really bad wind. But otherwise all OK.
@strawberrysummer19 I swear to god I would have had a breakdown at your MIL. I haven't been getting dressed, I'm shattered, and I certainly don't want anyone here all day, any day! Let alone more than once. I just want to be left alone.
