Okay wow, been away a few days. All of the babies have been born! 🥰

JJ1992 · 23/07/2022 09:52

(sorry posted too soon, also sorry I have defintiely missed people and probably getting different stories mixed up on my head!)

@Lianna93 sounds like you did amazing in your labour! And nice to hear little one os latching on better now. Will need to get nipple shields on the amazon list.

@ChinChilly hope your little girl is getting on okay in the NICU ❤️ sounds positive like shes heading in tthe right direction.

@strawberrysummer19 congratulations, you made it to the last hurdle! 😂 you can just enjoy your little one now. Hope you are getting plenty of time to rest and recover.

@JNGO21 I would also find that quite frightening knowing what they are speaking about in theatre and why they are giving certain drugs. Big hugs to you that would have been tough.

I really appreciate reading everyone's birth stories. Its amazing how different each experience is and is definitely helping to prepare me mentally for the things that can happen. Can I just say you are all such strong women ❤️ i like how even the most traumatic experiences end in positivity. I am so nervous for the medical side of things but its so nice to see how you are supporting each other with recovery advice.

I am 40+ 1 today, had a trial sweep yesterday but cervix not yet fully open so midwife will need to try again. Did have some brown spotting after and been advised to keep moving. Otherwise baby engaged and kicking away like mad. Looking like we will go to induction but kind of hoping to avoid if possible... Need to get walking!

I am very worried about visitors after baby is born, is this silly? We have a lot of family nearby (mostly my partners) and are very close with them but I am planning to breast feed and I am quite worried about being given the time to spend with baby half naked 😂😬 how have you ladies navigated this to keep special time with you and your bubble?

JJ1992 · 23/07/2022 09:54

@Coco9910 @NamelessBaby1 looks like we are some of the few still awaiting our arrivals. Hope you girls are holding up alright!

strawberrysummer19 · 23/07/2022 10:21

@CaptainCarp no transfusion as my levels were 90 something but needed to be 70 for a transfusion

Has anyone else been in similar position? Loosing lots of blood ?

I feel so drained and weak and know it's going to be a long time before I feel better

Any tips? I'm resting and recovering and fiancé is amazing - I have lots of iron rich foods coming in my food shop!

Hope everyone is well

Xx

Coco9910 · 23/07/2022 10:21

@JJ1992 I’m starting to feel impatient knowing it could still be 3 weeks before she arrives! I feel the same about visitors, I’m really hoping to breastfeed and just know I will feel extra pressure from visitors coming round. We are going to try time it for in between feeds and keep all visits short but sweet!

NamelessBaby1 · 23/07/2022 12:19

@JJ1992 just getting a little bored now tbh, my house is sitting nice and done everything I wanted to lol. Thankfully my mum and even off work this week so she's been coming over to take me out for lunch etc as my OH doesn't want me leaving the house myself!!

Induction is booked for 11am on Tuesday though, that will be 40+11. Still had absolutely no sign of anything happening otherwise and I didn't bother trying a sweep again, but it's nice to know we have a date in sight for seeing the baby!

Hope3821 · 23/07/2022 15:42

Been a while since I last posted. Huge massive heartfelt congratulations to all you new mamas! I've been reading your birth stories and you're all so incredible, strong and amazing! 💪💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

I'm 40+1 and had a sweep with my midwife yesterday. It wasn't uncomfortable, but she explained we all have different amount of nerve endings down there. I think she's also incredibly good at it. Baby is 3/5 engaged apparently. Been getting lots of brown mucas since and constant period type cramps (I don't miss those! 😅) so I hope I'm not far off. My midwife reckons I should get my homebirth instead of waiting for induction at 42w 🙏🙏 she'll be a Leo now anyway that's for sure!

@JJ1992 I'm exactly the same as you. We live right next door to his parent's where the whole family go in and out constantly. They always just pop over here without warning too! I'm so nervous about bf in front of them, even if I go next door for a cuppa I'm going to ask to go to another room alone. I've asked OH to keep them away for the first week to give me peace to figure things out /recover/have my boobs out in peace 😅🤞🤞

Wishing all you ladies still waiting on your beautiful babies all the best, these last few weeks have been mentally tough for sure. My midwife suggested taking up a brand new hobby like jigsaws or knitting to keep our minds occupied 😂

KizboBaggins · 23/07/2022 16:10

@JJ1992 I've had quite a few visitors so far - DHs family are very close by but they've always asked before popping in, I just can't say no lol. They're here now. It's a lot. 2 adults, 2 12 year olds and a 5 year old...

Luckily Austin is just sleeping but if I need to BF I just give the word and they leave the room.

I would suggest giving yourself a few visitor free days though at least if you can. You need to be firm with what you want (unlike me...)

We took Austin out for an hour today too and it was definitely too early for me. He was absolutely fine of course, but I felt like every single one of my senses was going mad. Every person annoyed me. It was too much.

Lianna93 · 23/07/2022 18:37

I was super nervous for visitors too & especially for in laws coming over but actually couldn't be more grateful that they insisted on coming over as soon as I got out the hospital. They looked after the baby whilst DH & I got much needed showers & naps and even helped do some chores round the house.
A couple of friends came round too & helped with baby so we could get some food 😁

The local breastfeeding team contacted me today & has offered me intensive support - which I've accepted. Found myself crying down the phone to the woman but she was so lovely. They're either gonna visit or do a video call with me tomorrow & then they'll visit on Tuesday too :)

Had an absolute nightmare morning with the baby. She poo'd on me, then pee'd on herself. Puked on DH. Then puked on me 😭😂 She's lucky she's cute 🙄😂

NamelessBaby1 · 23/07/2022 19:31

@Lianna93 I shouldn't laugh, but lol, the joys of a new born baby I suppose! I've never had to deal with puke and nappies before so it's the one bit of the whole thing I'm really dreading! So glad you're getting some support finally though, I hope the call the goes well tomorrow.

@Hope3821 your sweep sounds so much more successful than my own! Hopefully baby makes an appearance for you soon.

SamanthaVimes · 23/07/2022 20:07

@Lianna93 don’t feel bad, we’ll all be covered in bodily fluids at some point!

I had to change bedsheets this morning because there was baby poo and sick on them and my pad leaked as well. Disaster! 😅
One of DS’s early nappy changes involved him peeing all over himself including his own face.

Babies are grim 😂good job they’re cute

Lianna93 · 23/07/2022 20:21

@NamelessBaby1 DH was in hysterics at the ordeal I was having 😂😂
@SamanthaVimes Its definitely an experience 🙈😂

Congratulations to all the new mums 🙂 it's been lovely to read about all your experiences. I'm 3 and a half weeks into being a mum now and it's certainly been tough dealing with the sleep deprivation, I naively didn't think it would be this hard. Ava seems to have her days and nights mixed up right now, she sleeps all day and has a party most nights! I try to get the odd nap throughout the day, although this will be harder next week as my partner goes back to work from Wednesday 😱 I'm starting to feel like my body is my own again now though, and it no longer hurts to sit down which is a relief! My bleeding has slowed down to next to nothing now and I only need a light panty liner rather than the huge maternity pads. We went out and tried the car seat on the pram base today and think I will stick to that for supermarket trips. It's hard figuring everything out as a first time mother but learning everyday and grateful for any other tips people may have. Just started using my perfect prep machine and it is making feed times less stressful, even if they are every 3 hours right now 🤪

Hope3821 · 23/07/2022 23:03

@NamelessBaby1 yes me too! My midwife says theres generally a 50% chance with ftm of sweeps helping the cervix start getting ready & effacing. She's also told me most ftm go to 41 weeks and was super surprised my cervix had moved from the back to the front already. She even felt my baby's head!!! My baby's heartbeat went up a little, she must have thought what's this?! 😂 I'm just hoping now it all keeps moving forward 🤞

@Lianna93 that's a morning full of fluids & no mistake! After all these stories I'm keeping my waterproof mattress protector on at all times! 🤣

We're having trouble with our isofix in our 2008 ibiza. It's sloping forward which means baby's head will flop and that's no good so don't think we can use it. Anyone else dealing with sloped back car seats?

JJ1992 · 24/07/2022 07:33

@Hope3821 that sounds promising! Let us know how you progress, hopefully the sweep is all thats needed and you can stay home!!

@KizboBaggins @Lianna93 Im glad to hear Im not the only one worried about visitors then. Im generally quite a private person but OH has such an open and lovely family. Im sure I'll be grateful for the company when the time comes, I just hope he doesnt put too much pressure on us doing things in those first couple days. Ultimately I just dont want any extra cause for arguments in whay should be such a lovely time and when I will be super emotional too! Im sure my shyness will be out the window after I have my legs splayed to half the hospital in labour 😂

Im actually excited for all the messy parts of motherhood, I have worked in care previously so feel like this might be where I'll be in my element. I'll get back to you guys on that after my first naply explosion mind you.

Its nice to hear your recovery is going well @ShellUK09 it must be nice being on the other side of labour and newborn. Although tough going with the sleep pattern. It must be hard to function when youre gradually getting back to normal everyday tasks but doing them with very little sleep!

strawberrysummer19 · 24/07/2022 08:19

Hi ladies

Nice to read through all the bubba updates and exciting for people progressing also

So yesterday after 3 days post partum I'm back in hospital after feeling very rough after losing 2litres of blood

My bloods showed a drop in iron so last night I had a blood transfusion and had to stay in
It's all done and I'm waiting on the re test of bloods

Hated leaving my baby at home but I know she is safe with daddy

After a bit of a traumatic birth alone this was the last thing I needed 😩😩😩

Sore and tired from the birth and episiotomy itself and the blood loss was just horrid

Just want to feel better x

Coco9910 · 24/07/2022 08:28

@strawberrysummer19 how you start feeling better after the transfusion. Will you be able to go home today? Bet it wasn’t nice leaving your baby either. Sending lots of love!

strawberrysummer19 · 24/07/2022 08:35

@Coco9910 I really hope so, midwives kept saying the same. I still feel so tired and drained from labour, no sleep and all this so I guess it's hard to determine if I'm better yet but definitely better than how I felt than yesterday as I was so poorly.

I really hope I can go home after the bloods, got here at 11am yesterday so quite ready for home now considering I've already spent last Tuesday-Thursday here giving birth

X

JJ1992 · 24/07/2022 09:41

@strawberrysummer19 really hope you feel better after the transfusion 💕 did you manage to get a bit of sleep in the hospital at least? xx

ShellUK09 · 24/07/2022 10:31

@strawberrysummer19 Oh no that sounds really tough 😔 I don't think doctors understand that hospital really doesn't make you feel any better, sometimes the main thing you need is rest at home. Fingers crossed you get out today

ShellUK09 · 24/07/2022 10:34

@JJ1992 yes that's it, it is very hard to function normally with so little sleep but just keep thinking everything has changed now and sleep will have to wait, I grab a few hours sleep now whenever I can. The most important thing right now is feeding. That said, I really can't wait for the time baby goes longer between feeds!

Lianna93 · 24/07/2022 13:46

@strawberrysummer19 So sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon! 🥰

Bit of an odd question for everyone who's got stitches in their hooha... But when baby cries, do your stitches getting really sore? I swear when baby get hysterical, I feel like someone is kicking me between my legs & more sore, where my stitches are 😩😂

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 24/07/2022 15:47

Yes me I have stitches and they are really sore !
Just generally sore though!

How is everyone's tummies feeling?

It's my second but it was so long ago I can't remember!!

I'm day 4 and it feels tender
When I was in hospital the DR felt it and I asked the midwife to check it again before I was discharged as it felt more tender the next day and I felt a hard bit in there
She said it's all normal and it's my uterus shrinking back and moving lower
So know it's all ok but how is everyone else feeling?

It also seems quite big and flabby 😬I still look
A bit pregnant! Finding it hard to find clothes
Maternity clothes too big and usual clothes too small

Going bra shopping tomorrow!! X

KizboBaggins · 24/07/2022 15:58

@strawberrysummer19 @Lianna93 my stitches are really stressing me out... the midwife saw them today and said it looks a bit swollen down there and the stitches are a bit "loose" (whatever that means) but she doesn't think it's infected. She did a swab anyway just in case. But it's upsetting me, I'm bathing twice a day and airing and they don't hurt too bad, I just want them healed now I'm sick of it after 5 days.

Strawberry I'm definitely still flabby too! My belly button is still sticking out lol it's weird. I'm finding it hard to find the right clothes too. I also realised I have zero nursing clothes - I have bras but idk how to feed in public with a normal tshirt on.

My belly doesn't feel tender anymore though. Do you have your 5 day check tomorrow? I had mine today and they checked my belly again so definitely mention it to them

strawberrysummer19 · 24/07/2022 16:02

@KizboBaggins I think that's what happened to my stitches that one has come loose
I did have a look myself and it doesn't look that bad actually but one did look like it was coming away but doesn't look infected

I was supposed to be having my 5 day check but where I've been in hospital having a blood transfusion I really don't feel well to go out
As the appointment is in my next town 30 mins away each way! So said I'm not travelling uncomfortable- so I'm waiting for her to get back to me

But with that said I've been in hospital 24 hours where both a midwife and DR have examined me so I'll see how it feels tomorrow

I'm worried as I've had a forceps and all that blood loss that somethings been left inside !!

But the midwife did say it can still be tender at this stage, hopefully not tomorrow x
