We did it! Baby girl arrived at 4.20 yesterday afternoon!

Both recovering well & still in hospital currently. Baby has a murmur, so has to be checked to see if it's gone away by the time she's 24 hours.

Birth didn't go to plan at all but will update you all properly when I've got a bit more energy 🥰

Hope you're all well!

@Lianna93 congratulations with your baby girl!! Hope you all get plenty of rest and that you'll get home safe and sound soon. Well done you xxx

KizboBaggins · 17/07/2022 08:34

Congratulations @Lianna93 !

@strawberrysummer19 hope you're feeling a bit better this morning and managed to get some sleep

Coco9910 · 17/07/2022 08:37

@Lianna93 congratulations! 💕 Sorry your birth didn’t go to plan! Hope you can both go home soon and you both are recovering well!

@strawberrysummer19 hoe you managed more sleep! Wonder if it’s your body getting ready!

strawberrysummer19 · 17/07/2022 08:42

@Lianna93 congratulations! Yay! Look forward to your update.

I had a terrible first part of the night, went back to bed after only being in bed for an hour but was woken again with a bloody discharge and period pain which I still have now
Think the bloody discharge may be from my sweep though?

Managed to get some sleep in between toilet breaks so that's good as didn't think I would at 1am.

No more of those lightening pains in the night just a bad period pain type feeling and lower back ache

Hope everyone is coming along nicely!

X

NamelessBaby1 · 17/07/2022 08:54

Yay @Lianna93 ! So chuffed you managed to beat your induction date, looking forward to hearing all the details! Hope your little girl recovers quickly and that you get home soon xx

@strawberrysummer19 sounds like you're having a bit of a time of it! Hope thats all the build up to action and that you aren't kept like that too long.

SamanthaVimes · 17/07/2022 11:58

I think things are moving in the right direction for me. Lost a bit of the mucous plug and feeling very uncomfortable/ sore back. Hopefully means things will kick off properly later

strawberrysummer19 · 17/07/2022 12:02

@SamanthaVimes that's a very good sign.

I thought after my little bit of blood early hours my plug might follow but nope, just uncomfortable and lots and lots braxton hicks

X

paintfairy · 17/07/2022 12:38

@Lianna93 congratulations! 🥳🎉
@strawberrysummer19 I wish mine didn't move in the night. That's when mine moves the most! 🙈

strawberrysummer19 · 17/07/2022 12:43

@paintfairy oh really? Funny isn't it, my first did so active and would be really uncomfortable keeping me awake

This one hardly ever feel her when I sleep! Have to get to and eat before I've felt any movement so it has worried me at times but I guess that's her pattern ?

But last couple of night wowzer acrobatics at night 🤣and it's really uncomfortable as sleeping on left side so all the kicks and rolls are felt

I feel like I have no stretch left - bump is so tight even midwife mentioned that yesterday x

CaptainCarp · 17/07/2022 14:09

Congratulations on your baby girl @Lianna93 !

ChinChilly · 17/07/2022 14:37

Yay @Lianna93 congratulations!!

I’m not sure if my waters are leaking, I keep feeling a warm trickle and my pad feels damp, I don’t think it’s pee because it’s not yellow and it doesn’t smell. Has anybody had their waters leak? Everybody I know has had to have them broken in hospital. Getting loads of lower back pain and pain in my hips but I’ve had that many aches and pains I doubt it’s anything

beetree1 · 17/07/2022 14:43

@ChinChilly when my waters broke in last pregnancy and it was as your described and I kept feeling like I’d wet my self. Because it kept happening I realised it was my waters. Keep your pad and speak to the midwife as they like to check the pad when you go in. Fingers crossed it’s the start for you!

ChinChilly · 17/07/2022 15:01

@beetree1 ahh thanks for info! Gonna keep an eye on things until OH is back from work at 5. I’m not 100% happy with her movements either she seems abit quiet today. I’ve felt her move but there seems to be much longer spells between movements.

strawberrysummer19 · 17/07/2022 15:11

@ChinChilly I had this twice and went in to be checked and each time it wasn't my waters
But it's always best to be on the safe side

If your over 37wks a midwife can do it
It's similar to a smear but as I was just before I had to wait for a doctor to do it

I was told to keep an eye by wearing a pad
But it hasn't happened since so put it down to watery discharge

Re the movements then I'd say go in to be checked be on the safe side

annie1994 · 17/07/2022 15:24

@Lianna93 congratulations! Hope you and baby girl are ok and her murmur ends up being nothing

@strawberrysummer19 sounds like things are definitely getting close! Maybe you’ll beat your induction too!

@ChinChilly I know waters breaking is different for everyone. Some it happens before labour, some during, some it’s a sudden gush, others it’s a gradual leak…. Fingers crossed it’s the start for you!

strawberrysummer19 · 17/07/2022 18:07

Has anyone else got strong pelvic pressure? I know baby's Head is down and fully engaged but my god is so painful 😩😩😩even to move around and the lightening sharp pains are back

MollyRover · 17/07/2022 18:32

@ChinChilly that sounds like the waters to me, healthy waters should be clear enough but there is a slight smell, I found it chemical a bit.

@strawberrysummer19 is it coming and going? I found the lightening crotch 10 times more painful than the stitches I have now to be honest.

I'm trying to rest but it's really hard, I feel so much more mobile and energetic than I did with the gigantic belly I had. But the maternity nurse said I'm just delaying recovery by doing so much so instead I spent most of today in my room. My feet are super swollen now though so I guess that's my reward Grin. A bit gutted I can't wear my ring yet 😭

strawberrysummer19 · 17/07/2022 18:52

@MollyRover yes it does come and go but it's more when I stand up or if I'm standing for a while then I get a huge shooting pain which makes me cry out! And when she moves or if I have a braxton hicks then it sometimes feels like I'm being stacked with a hot poker stick !

That's interesting you say that, reassuring in a way! I think if I didn't have the lightening crutch I wouldn't be as fed up as I am now x

Literally roll on to Wednesday when I'm being induced !!!! X

ChinChilly · 17/07/2022 19:33

@strawberrysummer19 @annie1994 @MollyRover thanks ladies, the pad felt dry after a couple of hours so I guess we’ll see how the rest of the evening goes. The period type pains seem to be getting worse, tomorrow’s forecast here is 39 which I don’t fancy labouring in 🥵

Danani · 18/07/2022 08:56

Good morning all!

How is everyone doing this hot hot hot day?
I'm not gonna lie, not looking forward to trying to sleep tonight...Bring on Wednesday and the slightly cooler weather!!! Hope all babies stay put over today/tomorrow so no one has to brave the inferno that will be the hospitals!

I am working from home, all curtains drawn, AC ON, fans ON...ice water, and if things get unbearable multiple showers. 😬

In other news, 38 weeks today! Feels crazy that I'll get to meet baby girl soon! That being said, I haven't felt any aches, pains, twinges, nothing yet. Don't even think I've felt Braxton Hicks! And in all fairness, I'm generally feeling much less achy and stiff and uncomfortable over the last week than say a few weeks back! It's the oddest thing! Surely it should go the other way the closer to the due date we get?

Actually, a question for those further ahead - I have my 38-week appointment later this week in the birth center for the first time (not sure if it's the same everywhere, I imagine so?) - when you had yours at the birth center/labor ward/whatever you've chosen, did you bring your partner? I'm trying to figure out if it would be beneficial for him to join me, or if it will be just another normal boring quick antenatal app, just in a different setting? So far he's been with me for the scans, but I've spared him all the antenatal routine appointments. I think at this appointment, in addition to the usual we'll also go through the birth plan, but still unsure if he should be there too or it would be a waste of time...Thoughts?

NamelessBaby1 · 18/07/2022 09:13

@Danani I didn't have any appointments anywhere other than with my midwife at my local practice! Sounds a great idea having one at the birthing centre to allow you to get familiar with it though!
I also didn't take my OH to any appointments other than the scans, I guess it just depends how interested they are? I guess as long as you know what his preferences are in terms of cord cutting etc if you want him to do that; although even then I think you can indicate that on the day.

40+3 for me now and still not a single sign of labour any time soon - this baby is definitely not in a hurry (obviously takes after me as I'm chronically laid back haha).

Danani · 18/07/2022 09:20

Aww thanks @NamelessBaby1 ! Yes, that's what I think as well - I have written down our birth preferences, he is aware of what the plan is, so probably not a massive deal if he's there or not...The thing is he will clear his schedule and come with me if I tell him I'd like him to come, I just don't want to waste his time if it's not going to be any more in-depth than the 10-15 min appointments I've had so far. :)

40+3 for you - so so so close!!! Hope baby comes on their own and you get to meet them soon!!! xx
