Thread 5 is about to fill up, here's another one!
Wonder how many more babies we'll meet before we get to July 🥰

@MollyRover glad you’ve got some decent rest, 5 hours is amazing!
Lovely that DC1 likes the baby, any tips for the introduction?

strawberrysummer19 · 16/07/2022 10:12

@MollyRover that's a lovely update to read, how lovely.

X

MollyRover · 16/07/2022 10:19

Thanks, it's probably just hormones Grin .

@SamanthaVimes , I had read somewhere that it's better to leave the baby in a cot or whatever, don't be holding them when other DCs meet them for the first time. This is so that they don't think "oh, mama/papa has a new baby now and won't want me anymore". DC1 is 5 and a half so I don't know if it really would apply to that age group but I followed it anyway. We haven't produced a gift from the baby yet but probably will in the coming weeks.

KizboBaggins · 16/07/2022 10:44

@MollyRover aww what a sweet update! So glad you had a good intro between your DCs! I wonder if the same applies to labradors... I'm genuinely getting him a toy from the baby as well 😅

I have a 12 year old DSS so I think it's a bit easier with him being older. Also he has 2 sisters at his mums, so he's excited to have a brother which is nice. It's going to be tough having a teenager and a toddler but I'm just holding on to the fact that in a few years he will be the perfect babysitter 😂

I have a sweep booked for next Friday. For those who have had them, did you go alone? Or take someone? I think I'll be ok but a bit nervous.

If that doesn't work, I'll be induced on August 1st. It feels an absolute lifetime away tbh. Dreading this heat next week as well.

annie1994 · 16/07/2022 10:44

@MollyRover hope you and baby are settling in at home! I’m glad your partner has 5 weeks off, mine only had the 2 weeks off and it’s no way near enough 😭

annie1994 · 16/07/2022 10:47

@KizboBaggins I had 3 sweeps for my DS1, it was lockdown so I had to go in on my own. I drove myself back after the first one but I don’t think that was the best idea so the next 2 I got lifts for. Personally, if you have the choice I would take someone with you for the first one just to see how you are with it. Good luck!

JNGO21 · 16/07/2022 11:00

@KizboBaggins I went alone for my sweep yesterday. I wouldn’t say it was any worse than a smear test/getting the coil etc. It
was uncomfortable but lasted less than a minute.
I was totally fine to just drive home and absolutely nothing has happened since!

Coco9910 · 16/07/2022 11:27

@MollyRover ahh lovely update!! Glad you are all settling in with your new addition!

I’m 38+2 so feel really far behind everyone 😅 I potentially had my show yesterday morning..it was just like normal discharge but had some brown blood in it. I called triage and talked them through it as I was concerned I was bleeding and they said it sounds like a show so I think it’s just a waiting game now!

KizboBaggins · 16/07/2022 11:41

@annie1994 @JNGO21 thanks both. DH is working. DM lives 4hrs away. Not sure DMIL wants to be that close to my vagina... I'll put on my big girl pants and go alone. Can always call DMIL for a lift back if necessary!

@Coco9910 I'm 38+5 and no show yet, so you're ahead of me! 😅 fingers crossed you get some movement soon

strawberrysummer19 · 16/07/2022 12:24

I'm also 38+4 but booked for induction Wednesday x

ChinChilly · 16/07/2022 12:46

Well today is official due date, still no more signs 🙄🙄 mind you don’t fancy anything happening today, I know somebody who was booked in to be induced today at the same hospital but when she phoned she was told there’s no beds so no induction 🤦‍♀️

@KizboBaggins I have a sweep Tuesday I was planning to drive myself there and back tbh

@Coco9910 I had exactly the same about 2 weeks ago, got my hopes up but I’m still cooking away 😂 hopefully something happens for you!

NamelessBaby1 · 16/07/2022 12:50

On yersel @Lianna93 & baby! Fingers crossed next update is about the safe arrival!

@MollyRover sounds like you are getting on great! I've been reading quite a bit about breastfeeding this week and can't decide if I'm looking forward to it or dreading it now lol!

40+1 for me now and still not a single sign of anything happening, no show, no twinges, nothing... Think I'll be accepting the offered sweep on Tuesday!

CaptainCarp · 16/07/2022 14:01

@Lianna93 fingers crossed you'll have a baby soon!!

JNGO21 · 16/07/2022 14:04

Not sure if this is something or nothing but I have been having belly “tightenings” for the past hour or so… not painful but every 10-15 mins I can feel my belly going rock hard.

Could it be the start?!

paintfairy · 16/07/2022 14:32

@Mattieandmummy @MollyRover Congratulations to both of you! 🎉🥳 Really pleased babies have arrived for you. Lots coming now.

MoiraRoseIsMyQueen · 16/07/2022 16:05

@JNGO21 me too, been getting them all day and they’re getting a bit more uncomfortable now. But, I had the same last week and it turned out to be nothing, so I’m just resolutely ignoring them! They’re probably Braxton Hicks - not labour, but your body’s going the right way and getting itself ready!

strawberrysummer19 · 16/07/2022 16:24

So since 1pm (nothing all morning after a few more uncontrollable BH and period type feelings last night) I've had the most uncomfortable braxton hicks but with them I'm also having stabbing pains in my cervix - saw my midwife at 2pm and had one in the room.

We managed to go to the beach after, grab a drink and an ice cream as that was before this started! But the stabby feelings were making me cry out in pain

They are about 7-10 mins apart and my whole bump is tightening, and accompanied by this stabbing in my lower bump/cervix area and I have back ache

We've come home and actually zipped the hospitals bags up ready and now just sitting on my ball waiting for any more

My midwife said she doubts I'll get to my induction on Wednesday by the way I looked
Today 😬

I'm happy if this is the start to be honest
I find it hard waiting

In between it's ok but when they come it's these stabby pains that are quite painful x

MollyRover · 16/07/2022 18:07

@annie1994 it's true we're completely blessed where we are, 9 weeks parental leave at 70% pay for both parents has just come in so we feel very lucky.Allso have a maternity nurse coming in for 3 hours every day for a week, all covered by the insurance, to do checks on Oscar and I.

@NamelessBaby1 my experience is that when you give birth and are doing skin to skin afterwards, the baby does the work getting on the breast. It really does help putting hormones and body back into place aswell, and the weight loss is SUCH a bonus!! I'm obviously going to be limited in the beginning but I see that as time to recover anyway, and in a couple of weeks I'll start expressing milk so when I need or want flexibility I'll have it. It's not for everyone and I think the best kind of feeding is whatever works best for mama, but this definitely works best for me.

KizboBaggins · 16/07/2022 19:41

@MollyRover that sounds like an amazing set up! DH gets 2 weeks paternity and I don't think his work are even too happy with that... ridiculous. But he has holiday to book so we'll use that wisely.

My HV told me not to express for the first 6 weeks if possible - has anyone else been told this? I was hoping to get DH doing some night feeds earlier on but sounds like it's gonna be all me for a while (that's if BFing all goes to plan of course). Hoping you're right Molly and baby will figure out what to do during skin to skin cause I have zero clue where to start. I should research but I haven't 😕

MollyRover · 16/07/2022 20:08

@KizboBaggins my game plan last time was to start with the pump after 2 weeks once a day or so but don't give expressed milk in a bottle or dummies for 8 weeks- I don't remember where I read it but it was that long so that baby doesn't refuse breast in favour of the bottle. I followed that advice (building up to pumping 3 times per day) and had 14 litres of milk in the freezer when DC1 was 13 weeks old and I was going back to work. Managed to ebf for a further 13 weeks even though I was full time at work. I'm going to follow the same routine (less pumping, maybe just once or twice per day) because I found it so effective, hope it works this time around!! Less pressure now because I'm not going back to work as soon this time.

KizboBaggins · 16/07/2022 20:13

@MollyRover ahh ok yeah that makes sense! I like that idea.14 litres of frozen milk is insane haha go you! Did you/will you use a manual or electric pump?

MollyRover · 16/07/2022 20:47

Oh god electric, definitely couldn't do it with a manual Confused. I had a double pump from Medela, same one I'll use this time. I had to get one new part for it but otherwise it's fine. Good luck with it, and don't stress too much xx

JJ1992 · 16/07/2022 22:12

@strawberrysummer19 @Lianna93 sounds like things are getting going for you girls 😊😊

strawberrysummer19 · 16/07/2022 22:54

@JJ1992 I hope so, these lightening crotch are something else!

Ended up calling in and they said I can go in to be checked, asked if I wanted an examination which I did as I was quite a bit of discomfort so she said she would give me a sweep so ended up having one 😀

Not dilated but she said she felt the baby's Jess! but She said I could be in early labour
Back home waiting to see if anything happens xx

strawberrysummer19 · 17/07/2022 01:14

Is anyone awake at this silly hour like me?

Went to bed an hour ago and just woken with a bad tummy ache and can hear my belly gurgling. Have come downstairs for a bit as wasn't comfortable laying down 😩

Can also feel her moving around which I never feel her move in the night
