@ChinChilly I can't imagine having to hold and cuddle a baby right now in this heat. So I'm a bit- hmmm, maybe stay in a bit longer! Even though I wasn't her to hurry up and come out. 🤣

ShellUK09 · 11/07/2022 18:40

@CaptainCarp we are feeding on demand right now and that is every 3 hours like clockwork, we don't really have to wake her up. We have started using the perfect prep machine now for speeding up bottle feeds, as sometimes she is screaming and there's just no time to cool down boiled kettle water!

@paintfairy yes even when holding Ava to feed her she is heating up a lot from my body heat and it is a worry. Our bedroom was 25 degrees last night so we may keep her in the cooler sitting room tonight with my partner sleeping on the sofa. It's my birthday so sleep is part of my present!

CaptainCarp · 11/07/2022 20:27

@ShellUK09 at least you have a guide as to when she's going to wake. Our girl is a bit all over the place in this heat but I am breastfeeding so I don't have to plan to sterilise anything.

@paintfairy same as shell baby seems to get very warm when feeding! She's just been in a short sleeve baby grow for the last 48hrs. She seems happy enough & I just think babies are born in a lot hotter countries & are OK

ChinChilly · 11/07/2022 23:05

@paintfairy exactly that aswell! I’m positive I’ll go into labour Sunday or Monday which are looking like 34 degrees just because it’s Sod’s law.

Well I’ve been on a cleaning spree again this afternoon now the bottom of bump and lower back is really hurting so I think I may of over done it. Absolutely baking still so I’m preparing myself for even less sleep than usual 🙄😩

paintfairy · 12/07/2022 02:41

@CaptainCarp @ShellUK09 my downstairs thermostat has been saying 26. And upstairs you can feel the heat hit you as you walk up. So god knows what that is. Just not good. It needs to end soon!
@ChinChilly They originally wanted to induce me that day. Glad I didn't agree! 🙈

I'm currently sat in a cold bath. I literally couldn't cool down and sleeping was not happening.

beetree1 · 12/07/2022 07:19

@Effram congratulations on the birth of your baby! I hope mine is as fast this time 😅

i had to go in for monitoring last night as I realised by late afternoon I hadn’t actually felt the baby move like normal. All was perfectly fine though and the little monkey started moving as soon as we started driving up to the hospital. Glad I went though to reassure myself. The midwife did say that apparently the babies move less in the heat then move more in the eve when it’s cooled down and also if you’re dehydrated, but obviously still go in to be checked!

39 weeks tomorrow and I cannot wait to meet them now sleeping in this heat has been a nightmare. Where I was yesterday was next door to the delivery suite and I could hear a woman screaming and it did send me into a little panic haha

NamelessBaby1 · 12/07/2022 08:55

@beetree1 good for just going and getting checked out anyway. I was wondering that about the heat as although I could still feel baby move it was defray lot more subdued until the minute I lay down in bed at night, and then it was like a full on party in there. Was actually convinced they had moved right around at one point, but I think we're ok lol.

Due on Friday so hoping now nothing happens until it's a bit cooler next week as I'm sure the wards will be horrendous!

@ChinChilly I was trying to either do stuff in the morning or evening the past few days but it's hard to sit at peace haha. Even ended up doing a bit of gardening at the weekend which wasnt great, can't help myself though!

ChinChilly · 12/07/2022 13:14

@paintfairy definitely don’t wanna be stuck in hospital that day 🥵

@NamelessBaby1 I try get things done early, I got abit carried away yesterday though and ended up not stopping all day 🤣 I need to get out and sort my garden 😑

I’ve had some pretty rough cramps this morning and back ache, pretty sure I’ve lost more of that mucus plug this morning, not that it seems to make any difference and I think I just over did it on the cleaning yesterday 🙄 seeing my midwife this afternoon so we’ll see what she has to say…probs not a lot as usual

JJ1992 · 12/07/2022 13:20

@ChinChilly fingers crossed thinga are getting going for you!

ChinChilly · 12/07/2022 15:18

@JJ1992 I’m not getting my hopes up lol

Been to see the midwife, head is very low apparently but booked in for a sweep next week if there’s been no more movement between now and then

KizboBaggins · 12/07/2022 16:20

@ChinChilly how far along are you now? Fingers crossed things get moving before your sweep!

ChinChilly · 12/07/2022 16:31

@KizboBaggins 39+3 but I feel like 49+3 😂😂 I hope so, did any of us ever think we would be wishing the potentially most painful experiences of our lives to just happen already 😂

KizboBaggins · 12/07/2022 16:36

@ChinChilly yup... even 39+3 feels a lifetime away for me right now. I'm 38+2 and I'm trying so hard not to wish this time away but also please just get tf out of me you little crotch goblin 😅

Will you have an induction booked at your sweep? They told me they'd book one for 41 weeks at my 40 week sweep (I have resigned myself to the idea that there's no way he'll be making a move out before then)

These last few weeks feel utterly endless don't they

ChinChilly · 12/07/2022 16:46

@KizboBaggins it seems to go so fast up until about 37 weeks then everyday feels like a week! Crotch goblin 😂😂😂 brilliant!

I assume so, I’ll be 40+3 by the time I have a sweep she said it was unusual to have an appointment available for the following week for a sweep so I could of had to wait even longer! She said inductions here are booked at 10-12 days after due date, 12 days post due date is 28th July for me and that just sounds like torture!

Newmumatlast · 12/07/2022 17:08

I'm 38+3 and had enough. Had a family event hours from home this weekend and feel absolutely crippled with sciatica and pains now. Just having baths as often as I can but as I have a toddler its hard. Also have horrendous cold. Tested negative for covid but family members have it so hoping I won't turn positive then be at risk of passing to newborn and also not getting to have birth partner or anything. I've been getting shooting pains and pains worse than very early labour (based on last time) for the last couple weeks on and off but this happened with my last child too - midwife thought I'd labour early as baby very low early, dilated and pains however even 2 sweeps did nothing but give me pain. Have said I don't want to go beyond 41wks due to studies I've read and prognosis once you get towards 42 weeks but we shall see. Last time I was booked to be induced on my due date and baby came naturally. Hoping this time I don't get that far!

kiwi17 · 12/07/2022 17:42

Also feeling the frustrations here ladies - 40+4 now and had my bloody show yesterday morning, started contracting throughout the day and all night got down to about every 8 minutes but then got stuck at that and no progression. Had about 2 hours sleep and seems to have given up today despite more show... so fed up 😞

missv556 · 12/07/2022 18:04

My elective c section is tomorrow. I had the pre op appointment yesterday. Took a covid test, it has just come back as positive 😭 I have dodged covid this entire pandemic and typical I get it now at the worst possible time. Luckily my section is still going ahead but I will just go in later in the day. Gutted. Haven't been told I can't have my birth partner so assume I still can because they are testing negative

strawberrysummer19 · 12/07/2022 20:52

I feel time is dragging - one week until induction

Just came back from my growth scan
Fluids still low at 6.9 cm - they were 8.4 cm last week and 6.4 the week before but they said it's still within range so won't see me now until induction day next Wednesday where I will be 39+1

Baby seems to have less movements today ive noticed - can still feel her just feel very soft compared to yesterday and the last few weeks

But all was good at the scan, blood flow to placenta, heartbeat good, very low down and ready 😀she's measuring 7lb 4 so still growing nicely in range as she was 6lb 3 at my 36 wks growth scan

Still have my UTI 😩so on another load of antibiotics now! Have had 4 this pregnancy

I'm soooooo done being pregnant

Next week cannot come fast enough! X

CaptainCarp · 12/07/2022 20:58

@missv556 i hope everything goes OK tomorrow & your partner can still be with you. What a terrible time to test positive!

@kiwi17 sounds like something is happening for you. Fingers crossed for you.

Thinking of sleeping downstairs on the sofa tonight as baby seems a bit more settled down here than in the bedroom.
Weather app reckons 34 degrees on Monday!

@miss

SamanthaVimes · 12/07/2022 22:57

Anyone else getting annoyed at being asked if the baby is here yet? As if I’d ring my dad to see if he fancied a cuppa tomorrow and not mention that I’d given birth?! (It’s not just him but he’s the most recent example)
I know I am being slightly unreasonable because I’m hot and grumpy but come on. When I finally have this baby it’ll be the opening line of a conversation!

ChinChilly · 12/07/2022 23:08

@strawberrysummer19 atleast you’ve got a date to work towards!

@SamanthaVimes YES my family aren’t so bad but friends and people I work with are being annoying, my boss messaged me the other day asking how everything was and I was like you’re literally just asking to be nosey 😂😂 maybe I’m being an extra miserable pregnant lady now

Mattieandmummy · 13/07/2022 06:11

@missv556 how annoying, such a rubbish time to catch it. I am almost certain I'm going to test positive at my pre-op today too as not feeling great but negative on a LFT.

My Mum who is staying with us is now also positive as well as DD1. Have to say I'm feeling really annoyed about the whole situation as I bet you are too.

kiwi17 · 13/07/2022 06:38

Our baby boy was born today at 4.19am - we ended up going into hospital as the homebirthing team didn't have enough midwives on but all went smoothly! Good luck to the babies being born today 😊

Congratulations! I love the contrast between your two posts. How are you feeling?

SamanthaVimes · 13/07/2022 06:44

@kiwi17 congratulations!
