@NamelessBaby1 @MollyRover am kicking myself for not keeping her out of preschool this week but then she might not have even caught it there....She's 3.5 years and at the moment actually not that unwell. Slight temperature and just started coughing.

Trying to mentally prepare myself to have to give birth alone. I think it would be ok, not my preference but I think I could do it if I had to.

strawberrysummer19 · 10/07/2022 18:45

@Mattieandmummy ah so sorry to hear that! What horrible timing.
It's concerning how many cases there are again

I've been trying to dodge it like I guess everyone else is that's close to giving birth!

MollyRover · 10/07/2022 18:54

It's everywhere, really not much we can do. My dc1 is 5 so I can't keep her off school- we've all had some level of lurgy since the start of June too, just not COVID.

annie1994 · 10/07/2022 21:48

Just catching up,

@ChinChilly sorry to hear about your grandad, sending love to you x

@Mattieandmummy surely if you have an elective booked they can’t make you wait to go into labour naturally!? I had an elective and I was told if I was positive for covid they would still do it but things would be a little different - wearing masks, last operation of the day etc. I really hope neither you or your husband get it 🤞🏼

My little one is 18 days old today, forgot how tiring night feeds are 😴 also the heat is stressing me out as I worry that he gets too hot!!

ShellUK09 · 10/07/2022 22:23

@ChinChilly awww no so sorry for your loss.

@annie1994 Ava is 12 days old today and I'm having the same issues with the heat. We bought a pram sun shade today as realised we didn't have one and can't really go anywhere without one at the moment! It's so hard keeping them cool right now. I'm exhausted as well, when can babies go from 3 hourly feeds to 4 hourly feeds?! My partner let me sleep last night and he stayed up as I was becoming desperate with no sleep, and today my partner went to bed in the afternoon. Some nights are better than others, but the tiredness is a shock to the system initially

Mattieandmummy · 11/07/2022 02:00

@annie1994 apparently I would be a risk to other people so they would refuse to do it as an elective section. My section has already been moved back by a week because it's of "clinical need" which I guess means it's not urgent or perhaps they are short staffed.

I don't know what to think to be honest. I told the midwife on the labour ward that my previous birth was severe shoulder distocia, resuscitation and brain damage and she didn't particularly seem to care.

strawberrysummer19 · 11/07/2022 08:00

@Mattieandmummy that's so bad, I know with my elective induction it does come under 'medical reasons' although I've chosen/requested to be induced a week early but as it's ivf,age and thyroid issues but still it's an elective one and they would have let me go 40wks if I had not asked

However your reasons are a lot more 'medical' than not over mine so I'm surprised at this

IF you go into spontaneous labour beforehand are you then able to say you want a C-section when you are there in labour or not?

strawberrysummer19 · 11/07/2022 08:02

Is anyone having leg pains ? (Along with back, hip, bump, pelvic pain !) but in bed especially it's like an ache running down my legs and can't get comfortable at all

Even now in the day when I'm awake my legs and feet feels so heavy and achy
Wondering if it's trapped nerves or from carrying the weight?

X

Mattieandmummy · 11/07/2022 08:08

@strawberrysummer19 yes my consultant said if I go into labour they will still do a C-section because it's the safest way to get her out. Labour for me is very high risk because of what happened before.

My community midwife said I might have to be really firm about going in if I go into labour and possibly even lie that my waters had broken which is a bit shocking really especially as that was before this whole covid issue came up.

KizboBaggins · 11/07/2022 08:11

@strawberrysummer19 yep aching in my calves has been there for about the last week on and off. Sometimes in the mornings it develops into full cramp which is fun!

strawberrysummer19 · 11/07/2022 08:25

@Mattieandmummy I see you would have thought then they would still go ahead with it regardless of covid then like pp said it would still go ahead for them
What a worry - I hope you avoid it 😀

So do they test you or do they rely on you giving them the result ?

MollyRover · 11/07/2022 08:52

Had an examination this morning and according to midwife the cervix isn't ripe yet. Booked in to hospital for Friday to investigate induction instead. Not what I wanted to hear, really hope to Christ it starts spontaneously ASAP.

JJ1992 · 11/07/2022 09:52

My latest symptom is green stool 😬 is labour nearing? Have i got an unfection? Or was it the blue and pink ice cream I had yesterday?
If anyone looks at my google history after this prefnancy i swear...

JJ1992 · 11/07/2022 09:55

@Mattieandmummy im not sure how you feel about it ethically but Ive been told here you can refuse pre theatre covid tests / birthing partners having to do covid tests.
Hopefully you guys can just avoid covid altogether it and it wont be an issue 🤞

Gaily82 · 11/07/2022 10:27

@Effram Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! Wow that was fast! I’m glad you are both doing well and that he’s settling in to the family ☺️

@MollyRover Ah that’s frustrating, I really hope things start naturally for you before Friday. I’m seeing my midwife again on Friday aswell to probably have a sweep and talk about induction if nothing has happened by then (but not sure if something is, which I’ll write about below), but hopefully that won’t be necessary for either of us 🤞

@Mattieandmummy Sorry to hear about your daughter, I really hope her symptoms stay mild and improve soon. It is quite a worry with the covid numbers increasing again, and the timing for us all being due this month is not great. But fingers crossed you avoid it. My parents, sister and brother in law have all had it over the past month and although I saw them a day or two before they tested positive, I somehow managed to avoid it so let’s hope we all do.

Yesterday I woke up and felt that the baby seemed a lot lower in my pelvis, it was a different feeling to what it has been like so far, I mean I’ve felt pressure before and pushing on my bladder but this felt like more of a constant heaviness and really uncomfortable, felt like I needed to pee every few minutes. My lower back was quite achy too, and my thighs. The heat was unbearable yesterday, but I probably tried to do too much, then spent a few hours cooking in the afternoon so that I wouldn’t have to do it for a few days this week. I changed the bed too and did a few errands at the shops, so by the afternoon with the discomfort I was feeling exhausted. I ended up having a mini meltdown because DH hadn’t done some trivial thing I had asked him to do, but it was probably hormones and just frustration at feeling so overheated and uncomfortable! I had hoped that the baby would’ve arrived yesterday as it was my parents’ anniversary, and I was born on my grandparents’ anniversary, but it was not to be! I know she’ll come when she’s ready though. She seems to have been doing some quite strong movements during the last few days, wriggling around like she’s getting uncomfortable in there, so hopefully she’s ok.

Anyway I didn’t have the best sleep last night, I woke up to pee every hour and it was hard to sleep in the heat aswell. This morning I’ve been feeling just as uncomfortable as yesterday and at first it was like an ache at the bottom of my bump which I figured was maybe just the baby’s weight pushing down more. But for just over an hour I’ve started feeling some period like cramps right at the bottom of my bump, which I feel in my lower back at the same time, like they wrap right around. I thought at first it might be digestion pains because I’ve felt a bit constipated the last few days (I thought it was supposed to be the opposite at this stage! Hope I can go before anything happens 😳) but I’m not sure if it’s the start of something else because they seem to be happening in quite a regular pattern. They feel like ‘surges’ which last maybe around 10-15 seconds just now and then there’s a gap, and I’ve had at least 7 of these over the last hour and a bit…2 while I’ve been writing this post. I might start using an app and see what it says about timings and if there’s a pattern…maybe it’s the start but maybe not, I know that others on here have had contractions which have then stopped again for a while, so that might happen to me too. But until today I hadn’t felt so much as a twinge so I’m really noticing these now. Not really sure what they are meant to feel like, but what I’m feeling so far is kind of how I would imagine them to feel! I haven’t lost my mucus plug yet though, as far as I know anyway, but maybe I have and just didn’t notice! Who knows 🤔 Anyway it might all be a false alarm but we’ll see. I hope you’re all doing ok and hanging in there…it’s nice to know we’re all in this together xx

ChinChilly · 11/07/2022 10:35

Thanks for all the love everyone, really appreciate it!

@strawberrysummer19 yes my legs drive me mad at night! I’ve read somewhere that women get temporary restless leg syndrome at the end of pregnancy.. I think I’ve got that.

@Mattieandmummy sorry about the covid, terrible timing! I’m assuming you have to provide a negative test before c-section.

@JJ1992 not sure about the green poop but yeah my Google search history is the same 😂

Mattieandmummy · 11/07/2022 10:41

@strawberrysummer19 @JJ1992 @ChinChilly I have to go in on Wednesday and have a covid test at the hospital.

I'm not how I feel about refusing a covid test. Am wishing I hadn't told them my daughter had tested positive though.

strawberrysummer19 · 11/07/2022 10:42

@Gaily82 I feel fairly similar to you - to me they sound like braxton hicks - but do keep an eye
Mine are quite uncomfortable now and definitely getting stronger
I think with real contractions you would definitely know
X

MollyRover · 11/07/2022 10:51

Thanks @Gaily82 , just really fed up now- mostly because I'm having the exact same symptoms that you've described below since Thursday or Friday. Loads of regular Braxton Hicks and a feeling like someone has kicked me really hard in the foof. Really hope for you that this is a sign that you're starting and not like me who's body thinks it's playing an April fools joke on me Confused

Gaily82 · 11/07/2022 11:09

@strawberrysummer19 Yes they could be, I haven’t had Braxton Hicks so far so it could be those, as it might be unlikely I’d get regular real contractions without a bit of a warm up first. I always thought they would’ve started earlier as I’m 40+3 now but will see how they go for the rest of the day. Hopefully things are not too far away though. As you say there’s probably no mistaking real contractions when they start! x

@MollyRover Ah I really hope your labour starts soon aswell, I really feel for you going through this since last week with seemingly limited progress. I’m fed up already and have only been feeling these things since yesterday so I can imagine how frustrated you must be. It can be a bit disheartening when our bodies take longer to do what they’re supposed to do, but hopefully you’re on the right track, and it won’t be too much longer. This heat isn’t helping either. Oh I have that feeling too of being kicked down there, it kind of feels tender, probably with all the extra weight pushing down. I can’t wait for my body to be back to normal 😕 It feels like we’ve done our time now! x

Lianna93 · 11/07/2022 12:13

Very little progress over the weekend 😞 Cervix has softened slightly but still only measuring 2cm. Had another sweep done but midwife had to stop because it was incredibly painful & because my cervix has softened, she was finding it a bit more difficult to locate.

Induction booked for Sunday 😞 Really wanted to avoid this so praying little miss does her thing and makes her way out by herself 🤞🏻

Feel so dejected.

annie1994 · 11/07/2022 12:45

@Mattieandmummy I think that’s so bad of them, your first birth was obviously very traumatic and if they make you wait for natural labour - that’s just such added anxiety! Fingers crossed you and husband are negative on Wednesday and you get your elective as planned.

@ShellUK09 it’s so worrying them getting so hot. And it’s only meant to get hotter - mid 30s here at the weekend!! I agree, can’t wait for 4 hourly feeds 😂 George goes 2-4 hours but mainly around 3 hours now

ChinChilly · 11/07/2022 13:23

@Gaily82 I’m the same as @MollyRover I’ve been having those symptoms/signs for a about week now it’s so frustrating because it’s like just being uncomfortable for no reason because nothing happens…hopefully it starts something off for you though!

@Lianna93 I’m sorry you’ve had little progress, my friend had a pretty good experience with induction it all progressed at a nice pace for her…I’ve got a feeling I’m heading for induction 🙄

We all seem super fed up by now and just wants these babies out. I’m kinda wondering whether I prefer her staying in during this weather though I think I’d be really worrying about keeping baby cool atm

MollyRover · 11/07/2022 13:34

@Lianna93 that is rough. I've everything crossed for you that she starts the journey by herself, I definitely understand wanting to avoid induction. I'll go for it if they will give it to me at the weekend though, just still full of anxiety about DC1 and don't want her unsettled in any way.

@Gaily82 that's it. I'm so big I don't even feel like a person anymore. I want to get out walking with the buggy, want my appetite to go back to normal, want to heal up and get on top of the breastfeeding routine, get to the gym and swimming a few times a week so I can just be me again. I want to dtd with DH, can't even manage that!!!

@annie1994 @ChinChilly , I was a bit worried about the heat too but they're coming from an area of 36/37 degrees so it should be fine. My first was born in the winter so I felt it was easier to make warm than keep cool but the heat wave won't last and the womb is definitely warmer than Western Europe 😅

CaptainCarp · 11/07/2022 14:07

@Effram congratulations on your baby boy!

@Mattieandmummy fingers crossed you & your partner test negative for covid so you can have your section.

@ShellUK09 are you waking to feed or feeding on demand?
Our little girl does go 3-4hrs sometimes... Has gone 2 for the last few days except for the cluster feeding in the early morning where she feeds every hour.
