Condolences @ChinChilly xxx

missv556 · 09/07/2022 06:55

Sorry to hear about your grandad @ChinChilly x

ChinChilly · 09/07/2022 07:16

@SamanthaVimes @Coco9910 @CaptainCarp @Lianna93 @MollyRover @missv556 thanks all, timing couldn’t of been worse, now I’m worrying about funerals and labour clashing 🙄 but I guess I can’t control any of that.

@Lianna93 how are you getting on?

kiwi17 · 09/07/2022 09:03

Sorry to hear that @ChinChilly :(

So we thought it was all happening last night - diarrhea and cramps and then I start vomiting and called the midwife and she thinks I have gastroenteritis instead which makes sense because my 4 yo has had a stomach bug since Tuesday and it seems to have kicked off contractions but nothing was happening. Eventually went to bed and managed to sleep but I'm still in pain and now I'm absolutely terrified to give birth because last night was horrific I was in so much pain and we didn't even get a baby out of it 😭 don't know what to do now I feel awful this morning...

Lianna93 · 09/07/2022 09:24

@ChinChilly I'm okay... Things still seem to be stopping & starting for me. Still getting lots of blood tinged discharge as well (nothing alarming thankfully) Just so over being pregnant now. DH is back to work so I've been trying keep myself busy & distracted. Hoping it's not gonna be too much longer 🤞🏻

@kiwi17 that's annoying bordering on infuriating!! We were a bit poorly last week aswell but just coughs and sniffles luckily, don't think I could deal with puke right now. Stay in bed, plenty of fluids, use your dextrose tablets. Hopefully you'll be able to kick it quickly Flowers

@Lianna93 you poor thing, you'd think that after going through it it would have properly started by now.

Wall to wall birthday parties in DC1s class over the next couple of weeks so spent this morning getting the gifts done, as well as printing and sending school photos to DGPs here and abroad. Was also up at 6 putting on the washing machine and dishwasher! DH jokes that we wouldn't notice nesting with me because I'm always a bit too much with cleaning and organizing but I definitely feel like a weight has been lifted off me 😅

Gaily82 · 09/07/2022 13:28

@Fizzybubblegumbottles Congratulations! I’m glad the birth was a quick and positive experience for you 🙂

@chinchilly So sorry to hear about your grandad, I hope you’re doing ok. These things are never easy, but never mind in the current circumstances aswell. Thinking of you.

@Lianna93 Well done on getting your membrane sweep, sounds like you did great! Sorry there hasn’t been much progression yet but hopefully you’re getting a little closer every day/hour/minute!

I was 40 weeks yesterday and saw the midwife, she said all seems well with baby in terms of position, heartbeat, etc…she has written in my notes that the baby is still 3/4 engaged which is the same as 2 weeks ago but I suppose she’ll probably move down closer to the labour. Still no signs of labour for me, barely even a twinge of a contraction yet so I’m not sure she’s coming any time soon 😩 The midwife told me that due dates tend not to be that accurate and going into labour 2 weeks either side is totally normal…so you should think of it more like a due month than a due date. The thought of things dragging on for too much longer feels a bit blah though. The midwife said the baby is quite curled up and she has seemed to be that way during my last few appointments, so I hope she’s ok, maybe just comfy. The midwife thinks the baby will be quite long (me and DH are tall, but not excessively!) so I hope that doesn’t mean she’ll be bigger than expected.

I’m seeing her again next Fri at 41 weeks and she told me she could do a sweep if I want, to try to kick off labour naturally and try to avoid induction if it came to that. So I said I’d be open to it but just hope it won’t be too unpleasant. She did say she would only attempt it if she thought it would work so it will depend on what my cervix is doing I suppose. She did say she has only had one lady who hasn’t gone into labour after one of her sweeps so she seems to have a decent success rate, although I’ve no idea how my body will respond, time will tell! She said we’ll talk more about induction next week too if baby isn’t here by then. Apparently induction appointments can be quite scarce so I agreed to be booked in for 20th just incase it takes even longer if she only does it next week. She was saying it would be a balloon induction they try first, because it doesn’t use any hormones…hmm I’ve been doing what I shouldn’t do and googling everything under the sun about it, and I don’t think balloon inductions are used everywhere…like with anything some people say it’s extremely painful and others say it’s ok…people seem to say the same with the pessary though. I’d obviously like to avoid these things if I can but I’ll just need to see how things go over the next wee while. The midwife spoke about other induction they would progress onto aswell and it sounds like all of that could take days if nothing works, ugh. Then she said oh but you could always opt for an elective c-section rather than induction…I just hope it won’t come to any of that but in the end as long as the baby is healthy it doesn’t really matter what way she comes out I suppose. There’s still time for things to happen naturally so fingers crossed. Like others have said, I just need to try to keep distracting myself, relax and not overthink things too much because that’s not going to release helpful hormones! I’ll try all the natural induction things I can think of over the next week and see how it goes! Xx

ChinChilly · 09/07/2022 13:41

@kiwi17 @Gaily82 thanks both, timing is just rubbish.

@Lianna93 ahh that’s frustrating I was expecting some baby news from you today!!

@Gaily82 gosh that’s a lot to take in

I feel extra uncomfortable today, nothing to do with the heat I don’t think my bump just feels huge and uncomfortable no matter how I stand and sit. My sickness has also really flared up again 🤢🤢

Lianna93 · 09/07/2022 13:49

@MollyRover @Gaily82 Honestly feel so over it. They really ain't joking when they say labour can take a really long time. Keep getting told to move and then in the next breath I'm being told to relax... Can't have it both ways 🙈😂
I have my midwife again on Monday if baby hasn't arrived so I'm hoping she'll tell me I've dilated further & I'll accept another sweep if she suggests it. Believe I can have up to 3.
She did say I was dilated between 1-2cm but my cervix was still quite hard 😩

She also commented on my baby having a lot of hair 😂😂😂

@Gaily82 Im being booked for an induction also but it's just really a place holder for me incase I need/want it. My midwife sent me off with the leaflet that talks about all the different types of being induced... Im not keen at all. I'd much rather go naturally and let my body do what it's meant to do. Im hoping because im already technically in labour, it'll all be fine and hopefully by the end of next week I'll be telling yous I've had this wee munchkin 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Lianna93 · 09/07/2022 13:51

@ChinChilly Haha I honestly wish I had some baby news!
My poor parents & in laws are messaging every day for an update - they're so incredibly excited & I feel rotten when I'm telling them she's still serving her time 😭😂

Gaily82 · 09/07/2022 14:34

@Lianna93 Yes it’s really positive that your midwife has told you that you’re in early labour, so keep focussing on that 🙂 I really hope you find out you’ve made more progress on Monday if she hasn’t arrived by then. Hopefully they can give you another sweep and things will progress naturally. I’ll be interested to see what my midwife says next Friday about my cervix, knowing my luck it will not be cooperating! But you never know. Not sure why I’m feeling a bit blah about things today, I suppose I’m just ready for baby to be born now and every day feels like such a drag! But I need to stay positive and whatever happens she’ll be here soon, and your baby too ☺️ I just feel like I’m so close to reaching the finish line so getting a bit impatient! I think I was booked for induction for the same reason as you, just so that I have the appointment if I want it at the time, but it can be easily cancelled if I decide I don’t want/need it. Otherwise if I book an induction later I might need to wait even longer for an appointment. I’ve been watching you tube videos for the past hour of people’s induction experiences, haha, but I know that everyone is different so should just try not to focus on it too much. I’m hopefully getting ahead of myself and she’ll decide she wants to come out next week 🙂

I’m also getting daily texts from parents about the baby, they say every time I phone or text they are thinking it’s baby news! I got 5 texts yesterday from work colleagues since it was my due date, expecting news, I know they mean well but I kind of wish they’d just leave it until I tell them the baby has arrived! 😕

Coco9910 · 09/07/2022 15:25

I’ve felt so uncomfortable today with pressure down below and what I guess is “lightening crotch” 😅 Like I’ll just be walking and then the pain stops me in my tracks! Baby has been sitting on my bladder too which makes the pressure feel even more intense. I’m on 37+2 so not expecting anything to happen for a couple more weeks yet!

Effram · 09/07/2022 17:48

Hello everyone, it's been a while!

I had my beautiful surprise baby boy at home, six days early, on 21st June! He was 8lb15... Labour was 24 mins 😂😱 and it was in the daytime which I just wasn't expecting at all.

He's slotted right in and first time I've felt love at first sight. Definitely feel the family is complete now (3 boys is plenty!). It's been intense managing 3 under 4 but I've had lots of support and to be honest I do really feel amazing.

Going to scroll up now to see which other babies have arrived... I see @laurenGame as I scrolled down, congrats to you! I also felt traumatised after ventouse with my first and the same what have we done feeling - I am hopeful this has now passed for you, that was the only post I have seen so far!

strawberrysummer19 · 09/07/2022 20:15

@Coco9910 I have the exact same
Feelings today! 36+4 x

NamelessBaby1 · 09/07/2022 20:50

@Effram oh my goodness, 24minutes?? That's crazy! How were you afterwards, hopefully wasn't too traumatic!

@Coco9910 I'm generally fine walking, but get the pains when I like roll over in bed and stuff and just have to stop and catch my breath for a moment!

I'm starting to get more messages from people obviously also looking for updates although I'm not due till Friday, and baby is still sitting very high with absolutely no sign of movement. I know people are just interested/ excited but it will definitely drive me mad if they keep asking haha!

paintfairy · 09/07/2022 22:15

@Effram congratulations! 🎉 24 minutes is madness but I think i would prefer that to days of it! I'm pleased things are going well.
@ChinChilly Sorry to hear about your grandad. 😔

Coco9910 · 10/07/2022 00:12

@Effram congratulations! Wow 24 minutes! Amazing! Glad to hear you and your little family are feeling complete 💕

@strawberrysummer19 ive been googling it all day and it says it can just be the baby moving down and the pressure of them in the pelvis. It makes me feel like I’m gonna lose control of my bladder 😅

@NamelessBaby1 ahh hope it doesn’t keep you awake at night! I get sore hips, but then I’m finding I’m getting sciatica from the bottom of my back on the left into my left bum cheek so I feel I’m really starting to struggle to walk some days! Definitely have a pregnancy waddle now!

strawberrysummer19 · 10/07/2022 07:52

@Coco9910 I'm the same, have read the same but every twinge/ache I'm happy that my body is at least getting ready.

12 days until I get induced with a growth scan Tuesday so either way, I'm happy knowing in 12 days I lll be going in, maximum 🤣

X

JJ1992 · 10/07/2022 08:08

Just catching up,

@ChinChilly sorry for your loss, thats really horrible timing. Hope youre holding up okay and managing to take care of yourself.

@Lianna93 I expected you to have a baby by the time I was reading this, although sounds like you're not too far away. Suppose just enjoy having me time... Get your fave tv shows on!

@Effram congratulations! Hope you and little boy are keeping well. Im manifesting your birth story 😂

I had a wee baby shower yesterday and I was holding out for it, so baby can go ahead and come any time now 😂😂 one of my predictions was a week overdue and 16 hour labour.. The more stories I read the more this seems like potentially how its going to go.
Nightime heartburn is becomming a pest now... Started falling asleep with gaviscon tablets in my mouth. Early morning are actually a bonus though! Good time to blast chores as you say!

Hope some babies decide to appear today ❤️❤️

MollyRover · 10/07/2022 09:59

Dying with what I think is extreme lightening crotch for the last 14 hours or so, easily as bad as contractions- in fact that's what I thought they were in the beginning. Don't think I'm going to be able to do anything today, hopefully he's on his way between today and tomorrow. The midwife is doing a sweep at my appointment tomorrow I think.

Not sure how much more I can take, feeling really low right now.

strawberrysummer19 · 10/07/2022 12:34

@MollyRover I've just been walking around Homebase and I too feel so uncomfortable, heavy like she's really low and even her movements at the top of my bump (legs) are making me jump, and can feel pressure on my cervix even when she moves her legs!

Good luck at your sweep x

SamanthaVimes · 10/07/2022 12:41

Right DDs birthday and party are out of the way now, I’m officially ready to get this baby out!
Due date is Tuesday/Thursday depending on if I use the NHS date or my date so fingers crossed it won’t be much longer!

Mattieandmummy · 10/07/2022 16:28

My DD just tested positive for covid. Praying neither myself or DH test positive before my c-section on Thursday. If I test positive I have to wait to go into labour and then have an emergency section, if my husband is positive then he can't come. Today feels like a whole new level of low.

NamelessBaby1 · 10/07/2022 16:43

Oh @Mattieandmummy that's just rotten timing :( fingers crossed for you she doesn't pass it on and that you're all good for Thursday!

@MollyRover fingers crossed you get the sweep and that it's successful, sounds so uncomfortable for you!

As a slight aside from actual labour/ late pregnancy chat; I've just started reading the Contented Little baby book - I know the guidance now is all about baby led feeding etc but is anyone planning on trying a routine asap?

MollyRover · 10/07/2022 17:20

@Mattieandmummy you poor things, not something I would like to be worrying about at this stage, how old is DD? Is she poorly? Hopefully she won't be symptomatic for long if so and you'll escape it. It's not inevitable that you'll get it. Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Thanks @strawberrysummer19 , @NamelessBaby1. Hope it's not necessary and I go tonight💪

@NamelessBaby1, what kind of routine do you mean? I'm not familiar with the book you're referring to. With DC1 we did a mix of baby led and purée at 6 months (ebf until then) and she's got no real allergies, just slight sensitivity to dairy milk and citrus fruits but she got that from me. She's not a perfect eater but her diet is healthy and relatively varied. I'm happy enough with that so we'll just follow the same path and hopefully it'll work out the same 😬
