Thread 5 is about to fill up, here's another one!
Wonder how many more babies we'll meet before we get to July 🥰

@ShellUK09 I binned the groegg in the end with DD as it was red ALL the time and it just stressed me out! 😅

DD (also a July baby) lived in a nappy and short sleeve vest too, definitely the way forward!

keeping the curtains closed in the day can help stop the house heating up too much and if you have a fan putting it by an open window so it pulls in air from outside (don’t point it directly at baby though, more for you!)

kiwi17 · 08/07/2022 09:27

Woken up this morning with a cold sore and now I'm panicking in case I go into labour as I'm 40 weeks today 😟

SamanthaVimes · 08/07/2022 09:34

@kiwi17 hopefully baby will hang on another couple of days so it can clear up! Maybe give your midwife a quick ring to see if they have any advice?

Yes I have texted her so will see what she says thanks!

I also purchased a gro egg but sent it back after it was red ALL the time! This house is so well insulated but with my first I loved the gro egg but had an older house and was a lot cooler

X

ShellUK09 · 08/07/2022 10:00

@SamanthaVimes @strawberrysummer19 yeah I must admit I've started pulling the plug out of the groegg! It was a good idea but in reality it does just stress me out too.

CaptainCarp · 08/07/2022 10:12

I have a groegg & the bedroom has been around 22 degrees since we got home. DD has been in vest & sleepsuit under a cellular blanket.
She doesn't appear/feel too hot at night although she did decide to feed a lot last night. Its so hard after she was in a hat as well in hospital & that was about 25 degrees!

MollyRover · 08/07/2022 10:58

@kiwi17 bizarre, I got one a few days ago too, so annoying!! Normally only get 1 every 2 years or so if I'm really run down or sunburned but that's not the case now. They don't even fully come up so I just use a bit of sudocrem on them. This time I went and got patches and aciclovir cream, want it gone before little man shows up!!!

As regards temperature, definitely get a fan if you feel it's too warm, it will make a difference. We are installing air conditioning next year but are using a portable unit until then. Luckily babies room is one of the colder spots in the house but he'll be cosleeping with me for at least 6 months so the portable air conditioning will have to do. I'll check with the midwife to see what they suggest, baby is coming from a pretty warm spot so maybe not as big a deal as we think?

missv556 · 08/07/2022 11:33

Interesting reading others having the same experience with the gro egg. It's literally always amber or red for me too. Even at 7am when my fiance leaves for work and I get up to have some water it's at least 22 degrees. Crazy

MoiraRoseIsMyQueen · 08/07/2022 13:18

39+3 today, and I’ve had lots of niggles but nothing definitive yet. Anyone else feeling like their baby is hanging on and going to decide to come on the hottest day of the year?! 🥵

kiwi17 · 08/07/2022 13:52

@MollyRover that's interesting- does sudocrem work? Willing to try anything at this point although I've been putting cream on it since last night. I phoned triage and the midwife said not to panic it's only if it was born now I'd just need to be extra vigilant with hand washing and not kissing babies face- gutting though if it did happen Who wants to be banned from kissing their baby?! I think it's hormones responsible as I sometimes get them when I have af and in early pregnancy ... 😞

Peters27 · 08/07/2022 14:39

@kiwi17 Coldsores are more common in pregnancy as your immunocomprimised(have a lowered immune system),your immune system is lowered in pregnancy to make your body not reject the baby essentially!that makes it easier for the virus to reactivate!no sudocream doesn't work but if you use zovirax cream straight away from symptoms it can reduce the time the cold sore is there and speed up healing time!hopefully it heals very quickly as yes you'd have to be quiet vigilant around baby unfortunately x

Peters27 · 08/07/2022 14:59

@kiwi17 I hope I didn't sound too blunt there(had my work hat on instead of my mother to be hat on!)fingers crossed it will disappear quickly for you and you can have lovely newborn cuddles and kisses x

Haha thought you sounded medical 😆 no that's great thanks. I'm on the zovirax so hopefully I can get rid of it quickly 🤞

MollyRover · 08/07/2022 15:12

@kiwi17 no but the sudacrem would at least keep it clean and dry- this time I wanted something fast acting so I got the Zovirax. It's very small, mine rarely erupt thankfully, and is already going away. I'd get the coldsore cream if you can, just to put your mind at ease.

ChinChilly · 08/07/2022 16:18

@MoiraRoseIsMyQueen Yes, this little madam is definitely waiting for the hottest day of the year to make an appearance 🫠🫠

SamanthaVimes · 08/07/2022 16:26

@MoiraRoseIsMyQueen yep mine is definitely waiting for the heatwave to put in his appearance too!

I don’t want him to come today or tomorrow (DDs birthday & party tomorrow) but after that I’d like him out as soon as possible 😅

MoiraRoseIsMyQueen · 08/07/2022 16:37

@ChinChilly @SamanthaVimes I’ve got my birth pool set up, I’m so tempted to fill it with nice cool water and have a wallow 😂

ChinChilly · 08/07/2022 16:41

@MoiraRoseIsMyQueen I don’t blame you! I had my feet in the paddling pool we normally use for the dog, gross I know but I did clean it all out first but I was beyond caring

SamanthaVimes · 08/07/2022 16:56

@MoiraRoseIsMyQueen that’s genius!
@ChinChilly definitely not gross, it’s not like you’re drinking it. I’d do the same!

Might have to get DDs paddling pool out 😎

ChinChilly · 08/07/2022 19:33

@SamanthaVimes true and tbf my feet were probably dirtier than the dog after walking round in flip flops all day.

unfortunately my grandad passed away this afternoon, he was in hospital but not expected to pass away. I’ve got this overwhelming feeling of sadness that he didn’t get chance to meet the baby even though I’m not sure he would of really know what was going on 😩 it wouldn’t of been so bad if I was months away from giving birth but we were so close ☹️

SamanthaVimes · 08/07/2022 19:43

@ChinChilly oh no I’m sorry to hear that. That’s really sad.

Coco9910 · 08/07/2022 21:36

@ChinChilly im so sorry to hear that! Sending you and your family lots of love 💕

CaptainCarp · 09/07/2022 00:25
