@strawberrysummer19 the midwife had to tick it off her list at my last appointment to say that I'd done one - but realistically it was just a basic form in my maternity notes, I kept everything really simple basically saying I'm not ruling anything out e.g. "What kind of pain relief do you want?" my answer: "Whatever is necessary at the time" ... midwife said it's good that it's not too prescriptive

JJ1992 · 07/07/2022 11:20

@strawberrysummer19 thrush must be a major thing in summer pregnancies! How do we avoid it? Pads make me feel worse and I dont have enough pants that fit me to be changing them 10 times a day 😂 Ive heard garlic helps so been adding it to all my meals and putting my feet up/ airing 😬 after any hot sweaty jobs! Any other tips greatly appreciated. Also with you on the sensitivity thing.. Its horrible!

Lianna93 · 07/07/2022 12:12

I was brave AF ladies & got my sweep 💪🏻💪🏻 Only cried a little but holy heck was that super uncomfortable & felt very aggressive 🙃🙃 But that may be because I struggled to relax 😬

On a more positive - Midwife said it was super easy to find my cervix & I'm 1-2cm dilated & has confirmed my labour has definitely started but still in the early stages. Here's hoping the sweep works it's magic & I'll be holding baby girl in my arms this weekend 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Congratulations @Fizzybubblegumbottles ! 42 min, wow, what an absolute star! Hope you're both doing well and enjoying the newborn bubble!

@Lianna93 well done girl!!! So exciting to know things have started! Only 8 cm to go!!! Hoping things progress nicely for you and you get to meet your baby in the next day-two! xxx

CaptainCarp · 07/07/2022 13:04

@Fizzybubblegumbottles congratulations on your baby boy! Hopefully you are home & settling in soon.

@strawberrysummer19 I did a birth plan with the midwife but it didn't even come out when I was in labour because it was too quick 😂
As i was high risk I didn't have some choices i.e. Had to be on the ward not midwife led unit / can't have a water birth.

They discussed pain relief (I just said no epidural) & whether you wanted an active placenta labour & vitamin K injection for baby.

I ended up having a spinal anaesthetic anyway to sort my tear out afterwards but the anaesthetist discussed with me how a general was a lot more dangerous straight after labour.

Sorry to hear about all of you feeling uncomfortable, hopefully you can make the most of the nice weather.

I'm getting a bit fed up of not being able to do anything at the moment because of my tear.
DP is sorting out the garden & I can't even run the hoover round!

Coco9910 · 07/07/2022 13:21

@Fizzybubblegumbottles Congratulations 💕 Glad it all went well and your little boy is doing well!

@Lianna93 how exciting! Hopefully this helps your labour get going more and your little one is here by the weekend 🥰

beetree1 · 07/07/2022 14:11

Congratulations @Fizzybubblegumbottles sounds like you had a really positive experience as well which is fab! Enjoy all the cuddles x

NamelessBaby1 · 07/07/2022 15:09

Congrats @Fizzybubblegumbottles , that sounds super quick! Enjoy your new baby 🥰

Well done @Lianna93 , proud of you for coping with that, your post about the sun in Scotland made me laugh though haha. I went for a pedicure with my sister today and now sitting outside having lunch, enjoying this bit of maternity leave lol.

@strawberrysummer19 my midwife also went through a wee birth plan (I've asked to refer to it as preferences rather than plan) at my 36 week appointment; just says things like I'd like to use a pool of available and for the midwife to announce the sex / cut the cord as my OH would be useless! Doesn't really go into a huge amount of detail which suits me though.

JJ1992 · 07/07/2022 16:08

@Lianna93 you got this! Hope all goes well in the next couple of days 😁😀

paintfairy · 07/07/2022 17:11

@Liana93 I keep getting pains. But we dtd this morning and that's made them come back. I think it triggers braxton hicks in me. I can't decide if its good or bad but I want to encourage the baby to turn up naturally! Sweep doesn't sound nice, maybe she wasn't gentle?
@Fizzybubblegumbottles omg that was so fast! Really good for induction and makes me feel less worried. Congratulations! 🎉
@ChinChilly @MollyRover I'm the same with peeing. Its so annoying that you don't know if you really need to go loads or not. I must go 100 times in the night. 🙄
@strawberrysummer19 I still have no birth plan. 🤣

Not looking forwards to this heatwave. And I don't really have many suitable clothes and I just refuse to buy more now? I'm tight. 🤣 I keep having what I think are braxton hicks. Some days I get period type pains too. I'm hoping it means things might happen at some point. Still only 37+4 though. I've a sweep booked for 39+1 and induction booked at 40 weeks exactly (24 July). They don't want me to go over. I'll maybe have had enough by then......

strawberrysummer19 · 07/07/2022 17:52

@paintfairy I'm the same, refuse to buy anymore mat or bigger clothes! Now I'm off work I just live in pjs in the day and will make do with leggings and baggy t shirts when I do have to go out!

I don't mind the warmer weather it's just the evenings that are so hot but I'd rather stay pregnant another week then have the baby in a heatwave.

Managed to paint my toe nails just now so feeling very pleased with myself 😀
Was going to get a pedicure but ended up getting a foot spa instead and got a few uses out of it and also managed to get my hair done this week so feeling nice and ready
Just need to shave down there then I'm pretty much ready

Bags packed and sorted through baby's things today
Next week may drag as have no plans

X

ChinChilly · 07/07/2022 17:53

@Lianna93 Hope the sweep works it’s magic!

@paintfairy I know what you mean about buying new clothes this close to the end but I’ve tried to buy things I can still wear afterwards and I’m desperate for clothes anyway! I’ve also been getting period pains on and off for about a week now, I’ve given up and assumed this kid isn’t budging anytime soon! It must be nice knowing you won’t go over your due date

Lianna93 · 07/07/2022 18:05

Thank you everyone for the support & lovely messages regarding my sweep - I'm honestly so proud of my wee self today.

It's definitely doing something - been getting contractions since it happened essentially but still not regular. Took some paracetamol a couple of hours ago & that seems to have taken the edge off the pain - so definitely not active labour yet 🙈😂

@paintfairy DH & I dtd 2 days ago and within an hour I was contracting - could very well be that you've triggered early stage labour 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'm getting booked in for an induction- I don't need to agree to have it but midwife is gonna book it anyways so I have a date & the option :) Ideally I want to avoid an induction but I'm also so ready for this baby to be out 😂😂

@NamelessBaby1 Honestly raging that weathers been pish out our way 😂 Did get a wee seat in the garden earlier but it was so windy - joys of living up a hill 😭😂

@Lianna93 ah well down you! That's brilliant you got through it and it's great your cervix is 1-2! So not long for you now! So exciting. Xx

Danani · 07/07/2022 19:22

Hi all!

Had my growth scan today, and little bubba seems to be doing fine! The sonographer was happy with all the measurements and said she has estimated weight of about ~2700 grams or almost 6 lbs (at 36 + 3) so in her words “perfectly average”! That did make me feel great and it was also lovely seeing our little girl wiggle around in there!

My only thing is, now I’ve come home, I had a proper look at the report/notes and it’s noted that she’s in the 27 centile. On my scan notes from the 20 week scan it was noted she was 48 centile. Am I being silly for going and comparing both? Should I be concerned? The sonographer did not mention anything else, she was happy with all measurements, said baby is perfectly average. But I have 2 weeks till my next MW appointment when I’ll be 38 weeks so wondering if I should be doing anything in the meantime?! Anyone got any experience?

JNGO21 · 07/07/2022 20:21

@Danani
That’s fab news! If the sonographer is happy then that’s all you need to know! Average is exactly what we’re aiming for.

You’ll drive yourself nuts comparing everything. Trust the professionals, they would act if there was anything to worry about.
Be happy that baby is on track :) it’s all good!!

kiwi17 · 07/07/2022 20:34

Mucus plug has definitely come out in 3 or 4 pieces today after a second sweep yesterday.... due date is tomorrow... could it be?!

DayToNight · 07/07/2022 21:03

Trying to jinx it by putting new sheets on the bed. I've had BH for about 2 months now, but getting slowly worse. Official due date is in 2 weeks time.

Hope it is going well to those who think labour is on its way and congrats to those with newborns. We'll all find our rhythm soon, it's a bit of a shock at the beginning though!

Lianna93 · 07/07/2022 21:36

@kiwi17 I'm pretty sure I've just had my bloody show - happened I'd say maybe 9 hours after my sweep.
Contractions still irregular & seemed to have stopped again but hoping they'll pick back up again & it won't be too much longer 🤞🏻
Hopefully you're also progressing - did your midwife say how dilated you were when you got your sweep?

OP posts:
kiwi17 · 07/07/2022 22:06

@LLianna93 I think I've been losing mine since my first sweep at 38 weeks but this was like serious lumps! She said I was 2cm dilated but I was 2cm two weeks ago at the last one too 🙄 I think after giving birth once the cervix doesn't close again fully so I'm not sure it's a massive sign for me but hopefully is for you! 🤞 I'm desperately trying to feel contractions but not much yet!

Lianna93 · 07/07/2022 22:12

@kiwi17 Mines seems to have been really watery but tinged red with loads of little 'bits' in it - I have to assume that's been the show... I'm genuinely not sure tbh because I've never experienced this before 🤷🏻‍♀️
Aw no - that's so frustrating you've not had any progression - hopefully you will soon though 🤞🏻 I've got everything crossed for you! 🥰

OP posts:
kiwi17 · 07/07/2022 22:18

@Lianna93 I don't remember having a show last time as I ended up being induced 10 days late so I'm not 100% but that sounds promising!! Yes fingers crossed for us both 🤞🤞

missv556 · 08/07/2022 07:29

I'm worried about this heatwave tbh. My flat gets super warm. I have one of those tommee tippee gro eggs that reads the room temperature and last night at 8pm it was 29 degrees. I'm scared my baby is gonna boil to death in here 😫

ChinChilly · 08/07/2022 07:47

@missv556 I know what you mean, I haven’t brought one of those temperature things I think it will just worry me and there isn’t much I can do to keep the room cool, the last spell of warm weather we had I left the curtains and windows closed upstairs all day and it was definitely cooler by the evening.

I’m not sure if I’m happier with baby in or out during the heatwave if she’s still in atleast I haven’t got to worry about keeping her cool, can’t even open the windows in this house at the moment anyway because one of our ignorant neighbours has started burning crap every afternoon/evening for the last 2 weeks🙄🙄 honestly wish my hose pipe would reach over to their garden

ShellUK09 · 08/07/2022 08:56

It is hard keeping the baby cool right now. Ava now lives in a nappy and short sleeve vest. We put a light blanket over her to settle her but she usually kicks it off, and have the windows open all the time as our house is so well insulated it's warm all the time. The groegg is always red or amber when I turn it on so I hope this heat passes soon!
