@Junebaby22 ohh yes should of just read further up the convo 🤭 just wondering if what I’m feeling is normal for this stage or whether things are slowly moving in the right direction.

@HotToddyColdSauvignon you lucky thing!! When is your official due date?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 02/07/2022 09:35

@MollyRover it WAS on Thursday last week.. think I’m now 40+2?

now googling all the baby websites looking for anything that says “it’s coming now” 😁
bah, they all stick to the official line of “it could still be 24/48 hours or even days still till labour starts….”

Coco9910 · 02/07/2022 09:40

@HotToddyColdSauvignon wow how exciting!! Good luck for when it starts! Get curb walking and bouncing on your ball! 🥰

GrowBabyGrow · 02/07/2022 10:15

@HotToddyColdSauvignon exciting! Maybe the food poisoning was actually your body clearing itself out to get ready for labour?!

Danani · 02/07/2022 11:21

So exciting @HotToddyColdSauvignon !!! Have everything crossed this means things are starting for you!!

ChinChilly · 02/07/2022 11:46

@HotToddyColdSauvignon ooo how exciting… hopefully labour starts up for you now 🤞🏼

ShellUK09 · 02/07/2022 13:16

Hope everyone is doing ok. I'm hoping to get released from hospital today, it's honestly been the week from hell being stuck in the hospital due to blood pressure issues. Had so many blood tests and cannulas for different drips I'm bruised black and blue up both arms. I think the labour part was actually okay compared to this! I keep being ok for a while and then having spikes in my blood pressure and then they need to give me more medication, but it's probably because I'm so fed up of being in here! Ava is doing really well with her feeding and has barely lost any weight since the birth, she has passed all her health checks, and we just want to leave now so we can move on with our new life as a family 🙂

Haha that’s exactly how I feel! Definitely sounds like good things are happening, it is a bit ‘how long is a piece of string’, but take heart that your body is starting to get ready to birth your baby!

MoiraRoseIsMyQueen · 02/07/2022 15:45

@ShellUK09 that first night in your own bed is going so feel SO good (even if you don’t get to sleep much!) If Ava is well then it definitely sounds like it’s worth pushing for discharge, you’re not going to feel better being stuck in the hospital. You could maybe arrange home
monitoring, or monitoring at your GP/midwife.

Baby 2 due soon - 37 weeks - and last week have been having shooting pains which have caused me to double over and have to lie down. Also seems I'm getting sciatica in one leg. I vaguely recall similar pains on lead up to my daughter but after membrane sweeps. Baby is very low and engaged same as this stage last time - midwife thought my daughter would be early but she was bang on time. Think that's making it worse.

Starting to feel so unprepared. Last time did hypnobirthing and was able to rest more as no toddler. Did the tea and dates and all sorts. Now I'm getting a bit scared tbh about the pain even though last time I managed with no drugs thanks to birthing pool. But I think its because I remember the intense pain when I was on the bed before the pool that I'm scared as what if the pool isn't available? And i went from barely dilated to being wheeled down to push last time so pain went from 0 to 60 quick meaning I may not have time for epidural.

Eek someone calm me down!

strawberrysummer19 · 02/07/2022 16:22

@Newmumatlast I feel like that a bit, first was quick and no time for pain relief and didn't deal well with the level of pain, it's shocked me and I went into a panic mode
This time I have an induction and have requested early epidural which I'm hoping can be managed as I'm having an induction but obviously if I go into spontaneous labour beforehand then there may be not enough time like last time

I feel period pains/aches/lower back ache and feel like my body is getting ready so can only be a good thing

Think a lot of us feel similar so it's nice to talk through on here how we are feeling xx

Definitely. I really want a water birth again as I had one last time and genuinely felt so much calmer once in the water. Before that the pain was so intense I didnt think that I could do it (most of the early part of labour I was like wow this isn't as bad as a period - I suffer alot with them - but it ramped up quick and suddenly). So I think that's why it's worrying me as I cant have an epidural and go in the water as they won't let you go in water with one, but then if there isn't a pool and labour goes fast and I miss my chance?! I coped without even gas and air last time despite the quick 0 to 60 pain but I am so SO sure that's due to the water. Should I take my own paddling pool incase the birthing pools are full? Only half joking ;)

MoiraRoseIsMyQueen · 02/07/2022 18:39

@Newmumatlast have you thought about a TENS machine? I’ve heard loads of good stuff about them, might be a great option to help you cope until you can get in the pool - and then if there’s no pool available you’ve still got something to help. Does your labour ward have en suite rooms? Because you could always jump in the bath if there is one!

ShellUK09 · 02/07/2022 23:00

@MoiraRoseIsMyQueen I'm home now and I feel better already! They sent me away with a boatload of medication, although not so happy that they included some blood thinning injections, wondering how I'm going to manage to do that myself. I also have a home visit from the community midwife tomorrow, so that was sorted quick. Very much looking forward to my own bed! It was lovely to bring Ava back home

Didn't try TENS before so thats a good shout. Ensuite room wise last time there wasn't time. I stayed at home for the early contractions which were not even like my periods and had a bath. Went hospital when they ramped up which is quite a drive so when got to hospital they were already painful and was then put on bed for monitoring and basically went from being not dilated enough to pleading for them not to send me home to them agreeing to put me on the ward but then checking me and seeing I had suddenly dilated enough and wheeling me to the birth pool which they hadn't yet had time to fill fully lol so if I go like that again I dont think I'd have time to use a bath at the hospital as I wont likely last much longer than being on the monitoring machine before them agreeing im now labouring. If it takes longer (which I'm worrying about as the 8hr last time was enough!) I'll ask!

MollyRover · 03/07/2022 09:22

Question, is the mucous plug necessarily brown or bloody? I'm having alot of discharge this morning but it's just normal white in colour, wondering if it could be the plug 🤞

Sorry for TMI, completely over pregnancy now. I'm telling anyone who'll listen to shoot me if I start making any noise about a DC3 🙄

beetree1 · 03/07/2022 09:43

@MollyRover neither of my plugs in both pregnancies have been bloody. Mine were like a white but a really thick jelly consistency completely different to the discharge and came out in like a chunk. Sorry for the tmi!
