@Sweetbabydust1989 how far into the insurance claim are you? I have no idea how it works but is it worth speaking to someone at your insurance to see if it could be classed as loss of earnings due to the crash if you end up with a lower calculated wage? Xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 18/06/2022 21:20

@dkedm15 iam in early stages at present it can take anything from 12 months to 3 years to be paid out depending on the complexity of the claim me being pregnant has caused a set back in my recovery it's all a loss of earnings as being on sick I don't get the full amount of pay my company sick has run out so now on full ssp.. unfortunately the hmrc won't take this into consideration when the calculations of my smp get determined as it will determined by the gross earnings which I received in the what they call a relevant period which I am guessing is within the 15 week which is 15 weeks prior to the estimated due date.. I am basically going to loose out on my enhanced maternity pay due if they don't use the payslips prior to my accident... It's not really fair considering the accident wasn't my fault it should be consider more of a special circumstance x

Em85kk · 19/06/2022 06:10

Hottest day of the year on Friday and I end up getting a cold! Feel rubbish 😢

Butterflytulip · 19/06/2022 06:26

@Sweetbabydust1989 it all sounds very complicated. Employment solicitors Give free initial advice, might be worth a call?

I have a check up next week at 29 weeks (extra one due to the gestational diabetes, checking baby isn't getting too big! So much movement now so really keen on finding out the estimated weight 🥰

Redapple21 · 19/06/2022 06:56

Anyone else feel like their bump has really grown all of a sudden? And still 12 weeks to go, eeeek! I always thought I would get a big bump as I'm only 5ft1 and my OH is tall, but it's making me anxious now that it's going to be huge! Oh well all good signs that baby is growing well I guess 🤞🏻🥰

Sweetbabydust1989 · 19/06/2022 08:23

@Butterflytulip it's a joke really either way it's done now as they will use my april and may wage slip so nothing I can really do I am in contact with my manager he is going to find out more for me I should still be able to claim my smp as they include all gross earnings but I will loose out on my enhanced maternity as they take off my bonus to work out my AWE so I can put that on my personal injury claim as it's a financial loss to me as I would of got it if I could work but I will get all that back.. in a way it's kinda done me a favour really as if I decide not to go back I am not liable for the company enhanced maternity if we decide to leave the company we are liable for paying it all back xx

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 19/06/2022 09:18

@Redapple21 I feel like my bump is enormous! My sister commented on the size of it the other day. It makes me smile as I get kicks on different parts of my bump depending on where madam has decided to hang out.

@Butterflytulip (my go to GD guru), please can you suggest some snacks that are safe to eat?

Have any of you done anything special for Father's Day? I haven't done anything from the bump but have from DD. She requested that she and daddy have matching dinosaur socks, so that's what he is getting 🤣

Butterflytulip · 19/06/2022 11:39

Hey @TurquoiseDreamCatcher at my hospital appt the dietician said snack shouldn't contain anymore than 15g carbs. So I have things like, handful of nuts and raisins, 2 jacobs cream crackers and cheese, Alpen bar, nature valley protein bar, fibre one bars (basically on back it'll say 1 bar is 10-15g carbs). Some of the other cereal bars have crazy sugars. 3 chocolate fingers, apple with almond butter. Hope that helps. Sometimes when I'm starving I'll boil 2 eggs and mash them up and have them on a slice of brown bread (17g carbs). 😊

Butterflytulip · 19/06/2022 11:41

What a pain @Sweetbabydust1989 . I don't know much to advise but I'm sure your manager and HR will keep things right.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 19/06/2022 11:57

@Butterflytulip I hope so as it's a special case they might waver the £2 odd and just pay my enhanced I am not fussed anyway as it does me a favour incase I don't return I don't owe them anything there is a girl who has just come back and wants to leave but can't until she has worked all those weeks as she will owe them so much money I have plenty of savings thankfully I just don't want to be penalised for something I had no control over but my dad said it can be added onto the claim xx

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 19/06/2022 12:39

Thank you @Butterflytulip - I really appreciate the advice. I'm quite please that the fibre bars are the approved list. It can be a little treat everyday.

My dad has lent me a diabetic cook book but it was all in American measures. I've bought myself a set of American measure spoons off Amazon and I'm looking forward to trying some new recipes.

Butterflytulip · 19/06/2022 13:14

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher don't over think it. Eat and cook whatever you normally have and you like, you might just have to weigh the carbs element so the rice, pasta, flour, bread etc.. enjoy!!

You have been such an amazing support and voice of reason. Thank you 💕

Quick question I have my GTT coming up and I have really shitty veins they can only really use one and that hurts like a bitch am I able to use numbing cream after the first bloods are drawn?? With both my boys I did it without and it was awful my arm went black and blue because of it and they had a hard fine getting the samples. My poor arm won't tolerate 2 lots in one session 🙈 xx

Butterflytulip · 19/06/2022 22:30

@Sweetbabydust1989 my veins are the same ! I didn't use any numbing cream. I was so dehydrated from not drinking water it was awful but eventually they got their blood. The girl next to me had to have it drawn from her hand.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 20/06/2022 10:00

@Butterflytulip mine are awful and because I have to fast I no it's going to be a nightmare I am usually ok with them but this one I worry about.. I think I will ask them I just don't want another black and blue arm again and it's my right arm they use xx

GlitteryGreen · 20/06/2022 10:39

@Redapple21 I do! I feel like all of a sudden my belly has really popped. Sometimes I look at it and dread to think how big it might get if it carries on at this rate 😳

It's not huge currently but I think because it stayed small for so long I wasn't expecting the sudden growth spurt.

Redapple21 · 20/06/2022 12:00

Yes @GlitteryGreen this is how I feel! I had quite a small bump for a while and all of a sudden it's grown! So it's a bit of a shock ha ha. As you say, not huge but still mindful I have another 12 weeks to go! x

MummyToBe2022 · 20/06/2022 12:21

I'm big too. I've had people say I'm ready to pop and are shocked when I tell them I have 12 weeks to go.

This is my third though. I will be having growth scans every three weeks due to my medication so at least I get to see how much baby grows

Sweetbabydust1989 · 20/06/2022 14:43

@Redapple21 I feel massive this time my FIL asked if I was having twins the other day I honestly believe it's the way my baby is laying breech at present but trying to move them loads of washing the floors on my hands and knees 😂 xx

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 20/06/2022 15:02

I've also had the huge bump comment. A random stranger commented, "only a few more weeks to go." Nope, months!!!

legaltigger · 20/06/2022 16:56

I'm so emotional at the moment - I had a huge cry today because I tried to make the end of my daughters firsts sports day after work and when I got there they'd finished a bit earlier. I felt like an awful mum.

HaresHoping · 20/06/2022 17:23

Oh @legaltigger you are so not an awful mum! You can't help those timings. It must be so hard trying to juggle work and home life. I wish I could give you a hug - you're quite clearly a fantastic mum!

Thank you @HaresHoping - I keep crying at everything at the moment. I just felt so bad for missing her first sports day! But then I have to work so what can I do :(

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 20/06/2022 18:11

Oh @legaltigger you are not an awful mum. You tried your hardest and that's what matters. Give your DD some extra cuddles and plan something nice with her at home.
