@Sweetbabydust1989 that's brill. I'm sure it's a nice feeling to know your wishes are backed by the team at the hospital.

@annlee3817 I was so sorry last night, it's the stretching ligaments and I could barely turn to either side! I don't even have a big bump and I'm starting to really feel it!!

Gosh I can't wait to finish work!! Only 2 weeks to go 🤞🤞

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 02/08/2022 09:57

@annlee3817 I kept getting woken up by leg cramps 😣 oh my, do they hurt?! I have had them before pregnancy but this was something else, I actually wondered if they would ever end!

Butterflytulip · 02/08/2022 11:22

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher the leg cramps are bloody awful!!! The only way I get rid of them is as soon as cramp starts, is to completely relax the leg and the cramp goes away. If you panic and tense up the cramp pain just gets really bad. Made me cry one day !!!!!

Butterflytulip · 02/08/2022 11:22

@annlee3817 hope your appt today goes well

AlM93 · 02/08/2022 11:35

Hi ladies,

long time lurker here and due on 8th Sept! Luckily I'm not getting leg cramps but I have got some serious pain right at the bottom of my bump today, I can barely walk - presuming it's round ligament pain but I literally feel like I need a walking stick to get around!!! Turning in bed is also a chore for me, 5 weeks left...

LittlemissMama67 · 02/08/2022 12:53

Is anyone else having an elective section?

I am so I'm on a countdown to the 16th. I've not started freaking out yet but when it does enter my mind I do sort of wince knowing the pain im gonna be in afterwards. It's a weird feeling to be so excited and looking forward pain

Goodgoodthings · 02/08/2022 13:00

@LittlemissMama67 I am but still have no date or even firm idea of which hospital (midlands based) I'm only 32+4 so a way behind lots of you it seems. This elcs is after an emcs last time that was really hard on me mentally so it's bothering me that I don't have any info.

This baby is measuring at 92 centile exactly like my first and I am feeling LARGE 🫠

110APiccadilly · 02/08/2022 13:03

Having been 100% determined I was going to have an ELCS, I've now suddenly become really indecisive about it. I mentioned yesterday to the consultant that I was thinking maybe I would be willing to have an induction and he was fairly positive about both options! Which is good, because it means neither is massively more risky, and also he'll go with what I want. But also means I can't just go with, "what the consultant recommends"!

AlM93 · 02/08/2022 13:13

@LittlemissMama67 my baby is currently breech (and has been in the same position since they've started monitoring) so a c-section is on the cards for me, I am slightly apprehensive but I think it's more the fear of the unknown really, I do quite like the idea of knowing what date I'm going to have my baby and I'm quite lucky that I have a really good support network for when I get home to help me recover etc. But yes it does play on my mind not knowing how I will heal etc.

I am and also scheduled for 16th August. Exactly 2 weeks to go. Feels so strange knowing that at this time in 2 weeks, I will hopefully be out of surgery and in recovery waiting to see our little one. X

Butterflytulip · 02/08/2022 13:49

@LittlemissMama67 I'm having an elective section. My first was an induction gone wrong which led to an emergency section. So I'm avoiding all that this time! I have the date! It's so strange knowing but also lovely knowing my other child will be in nursery well looked after whilst my partner and I are at the hospital.

@110APiccadilly I hope induction works for you. For me I over stimulated and baby's heart rate went down. They had to stop the induction and contractions and take me in for c section.

I'm having an elective this time (also midlands area) I've had my date known since April.

maybe mention to your midwife that the not knowing is causing you anxiety they might speed up the process of scheduling

Same happened to me, I had low Papp-a this time and last time. As a result I was induced at 38 weeks last time. Ended in a failed induction and ultimately an emergency c-section.

this time around I was given the option because who wants to go through 12+ hours of labour and then have a section anyway twice 😂 not me.

I also had a failed induction followed by a section first time round, which was why to start with I'd said never again. In my case though it was failure to progress, and baby was never distressed. I haven't completely decided what I want to do this time, but I really do need to decide by next week as the current plan is for baby to arrive at 36 weeks, and I'm 35 tomorrow!!

Goodgoodthings · 02/08/2022 14:39

@LittlemissMama67 April! Oh my goodness, thanks for sharing this it gives me a kick up the arse to put some pressure on them. I had a random appt come through by text for "obstetrics" this Thurs which my mw knew nothing about, I just called through and they said it will be route to birth discussion so hoping I'll get my date then!

I've been seeing a mental health midwife and they've been reassuring but it hasn't really had any impact on information sharing. I met a woman last week who was booked in at Heartlands for elcs, waited all day and was ultimately told to go home because they couldn't fit her in and she had to go to Good Hope 2 days later (in the epic heatwave 🫠)

Route to birth discussion sounds very much like you'll get a date!

Thank you for that tip, my instinct was to try shaking my leg but that seemed to make it worse! It brought tears to my eyes.

Goodgoodthings · 02/08/2022 17:33

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher apparently bananas are great for leg cramps too! Worth a go, it's rotten when they wake you up in the night 😖

WallsH20 · 02/08/2022 20:20

Leg cramps are awful!! Especially at night. My midwife told me to lift my toes to my knee. It actually works. Feels unnatural but gets rid of the cramp in seconds😊

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/08/2022 20:22

Yay sweep booked in and induction also booked in I finally have some dates woohoo!! Xx

Butterflytulip · 03/08/2022 08:03

Yay @Sweetbabydust1989 it makes it all real!! Iv had my section date for weeks and I'm just counting down the days now!!! Still need to pack hospital bag and bring stuff down from the attic!! Feels like so much to do!!

Mum2two2022 · 03/08/2022 13:09

Hi ladies,

How exciting for everyone with their dates booked in really does put things into place!

I had a water birth first time round but didn't actually birth in there but was in there for the whole duration of my labour until the pushing part. They only have 1 available at my local hospital which is stressing me out as the likely good of them having it will be slim. Not sure what to do even thinking about home birth now

awwbiscuits · 03/08/2022 13:19

I'm having a home birth (again) and I've ordered a pool :) @Mum2two2022

Mum2two2022 · 03/08/2022 13:20

@awwbiscuits what was your experience first time round!?

My first labour was really straight forward and fast, I would love a home birth but my house isn't that big and the only place the pool could go is the living room with carpet 😩😩 just don't know what to do!???

Sweetbabydust1989 · 03/08/2022 14:22

@Butterflytulip oh it's all sinking in now cannot believe they really did approve it the funny thing was the consultant who approved it all was the one that helped me through my 2 ectopics last year she called me today to express how happy she was that I finally made it out of the dark tunnel.. how are you getting on lovely?? Xx
