Anyone really struggling with picking a name? We’re having a boy and have a massive list but nothing feels right. I think we’ll end up with the first name we liked! Nothing else seems to top it, but at the same time I’m just not sure. Boys names are so much harder to come up with than girls!! 🤯

Redapple21 · 30/07/2022 21:43

@Em85kk we are actually the opposite! We had the boys name early on and still love it. It took us ages to pick a girls name and I still don't know if I'm convinced! x

Sweetbabydust1989 · 30/07/2022 22:08

@Em85kk I was the opposite I have had my girl name since my youngest was born so like 9 years ago yes 9 years I was debating wether to call my cat it as I didn't think we would have anymore children thankfully I didn't 😂 however I am having issues with the middle name I might just name her after myself saves arguments 😂 xx

Em85kk · 30/07/2022 22:48

😂 I like two boys names that are previous cats we’ve had so dh has said no to those! Middle name is sorted as there’s a name that both grandads share. I know I’m going to wait until I see him before deciding for definite, but I’d just like to be happy with one in the meantime!x

awwbiscuits · 30/07/2022 23:21

We found it really easy with dd! @Em85kk we have come up with a name but it definitely wasn't easy. Tbf we bickered a lot about boys names when we didn't know what sex dd was and we've totally changed our ideas since then, which has helped a lot I think!!

Butterflytulip · 31/07/2022 19:24

@Em85kk take your time and even wait until you've had a few days with the baby. There's no rush. We don't know what we are having, I find girls names soo much easier!! There's loads of beautiful ones. Boys names are harder!! We want something different but not so different he/she will hate when they are older!

Butterflytulip · 31/07/2022 19:26

@Sweetbabydust1989 I think 2020 was just different. We spent so much time
In the house and only had pramsuit / blankets for walks. Didn't feel like I needed too much clothing as heating was always on in the chillier
Months. I think if we are out more this time I'll prob need cardigans! M&S do a nice chunky knit one in a few Colours.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 31/07/2022 20:34

@Butterflytulip oh definitely everyone was locked in I feel for anyone who had a baby during lockdown much of been the hardest thing ever!!! Xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 31/07/2022 20:35

So as the weeks are approaching is anyone getting rather scared about giving birth?? I have had 2 traumatic births before i am now starting to get rather scared about it all 🥺 I have a birth plan in place but I am now second guessing it all xx

Butterflytulip · 31/07/2022 20:36

@Sweetbabydust1989 can't believe I'm 35 weeks this week! Scary that it's august tomorrow!! 2 more scans left and then it's the big c section day!!!

Sweetbabydust1989 · 31/07/2022 20:46

@Butterflytulip i am 33 weeks tomorrow 1 more scan for me and iam bloody petrified now I am having a sweep at 39 weeks or 38 weeks 4 days as that's my next midwife app they will not let me go over 40 weeks.. My last 2 births were awful and. I am scared it's going to be the same again xx

Butterflytulip · 31/07/2022 20:53

@Sweetbabydust1989 so exciting too!! Yeah I'm now allowed to go over 40 weeks either. Last time round it's was an induction gone wrong that resulted in emergency section so I'm
Glad iv chosen elective section this time round at 39 weeks! Something nice about stress free about knowing date baby will be here! Although guess could still happen before 39 weeks naturally!! Must pack hospital bag lol !!!

Redapple21 · 31/07/2022 20:57

Ahh @Sweetbabydust1989 you were feeling positive the other day! It's natural you feel anxious after your last experiences. Speak to your midwife when you see her next and hopefully she can reassure you. I've been listening to lots of hypnobirthing podcasts but my local hospital posted the stats for June and out of over 300 births there were only 12 water births!! So this has made me feel less positive.

annlee3817 · 31/07/2022 21:03

We've struggled with names this time, we had a few for our DD, but now don't like the ones we didn't pick. If it had been a boy we would have chosen either Fletcher or Archer. As it's a girl we've found it really hard, we've let DD pick the middle name though :) and we think we have a first name now, just keeping it a secret from family and friends and DD lol will see what she looks like when she's born.

36 weeks on Tuesday, consultant won't let me go past 39 weeks, another scan on the 12th and then will be given a date for induction. They asked me if I was opting for that or c section, but I had a very straight forward birth with DD, just over five hours from start to finish, so would like to try for induction

awwbiscuits · 31/07/2022 21:18

I'm looking forward to birth this time. I know what wasn't great last time and what will be different this time. I've read a few good books that I'd recommend if you are frightened - the positive birth book - milli hill , practical ways to make your birth better - siobhan miller - I'd also say to look in to hypnobirthing and positive birth stories - there are tonnes on social media.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 31/07/2022 22:23

@Redapple21 I think it's all sinking in now that she will be coming out one way or another 🙈 when speaking to my consultant midwife she said the same thing that not a lot of ladies go down the water birth route she only mentioned it as I was concerned about a pool being free to be honest I wasn't all that surprised she said most opt straight for the epidural.. she probably shouldn't of mentioned it but I was very grateful for her honesty.. I am glad she kinda made me feel I can do the water birth I do feel more prepared this time like hiring a tens machine etc but I am still super anxious xx

Redapple21 · 31/07/2022 22:25

@Sweetbabydust1989 ahh yes fair enough. I've ordered a tens machine too, I think it was you who recommended it the other day actually! Will have my plan to go in the pool but as I've never done it before il also have to be open minded that it could all change on the day. It is nerve wracking, as you say they must come out one way or another! I find the podcasts and positive birth stories helpful, so I would definitely listen to a couple of them online if you can!

Sweetbabydust1989 · 31/07/2022 23:40

@Redapple21 Yes it was I am hiring mine going to sort it this week just can't wear them in the pool but can still use gas and air.. oh definitely never set in stone I didn't have my son in the pool which was a shame but he was back to back so they had to help turn him 🙈 i am sure I will be ok just an off day I think xx

110APiccadilly · 01/08/2022 09:00

We've finally got a boy's name sorted! So are prepared.

I'm now having a wobble about whether I should have an induction! Having been 100% sure that I would go straight for a section rather than try an induction this time, I'm suddenly second guessing myself. I have an appointment today, so I'll discuss pros and cons then. I suspect a section is still the wisest but we'll see how the discussion goes. Maybe because it's really hitting me now that those are my only options; I'm not going to be going into labour naturally.

WallsH20 · 01/08/2022 10:19

Hi everyone, so lovely to read everyone's updates and see so many positive people! I haven't posted since my 20 week scan where we got told baby was measuring on the 6th centile. Its interesting so many of us seem to have had growth issues! I was in twice a week for monitoring and having growth scans every two weeks. Thankfully the last growth scan the baby has had a massive growth spurt and went up to the 17th centile! So they've said I now only need growth scans every four weeks and no monitoring in-between. Due to this and a previous 3rd degree tear, they keep mentioning a c-section. I'm really nervous about either!! Does anyone have any advice? Feels like a hard choice between risking another tear or going through the surgery/recovery of a c-section😩thanks xx

LittlemissMama67 · 01/08/2022 15:46

I can't believe how close we are getting now!

we've had our name since the very beggining and haven't really wavered on it.

we left our gender scan at 16 weeks after finding out it was a girl and turned to the OH and said looks like we're having an Orla then...

and that was that. Sorted.

c-section booked for the 16th of September. The days are ticking by now aren't now.

awwbiscuits · 01/08/2022 16:06

Baby is properly squashing my bladder today, it is so uncomfortable! 35 weeks today. Hopefully he will come closer to 37 than 42 á La dd !

Sweetbabydust1989 · 01/08/2022 17:39

Just had an email from the consultant midwife and the consultants have all approved my plan I will be getting swept at my 38+4 app as that's the date my midwife app otherwise it's over 40 weeks and yeah let's hope my track record continues both my boys were before 39 weeks.. I am so relieved had a little wobble but feeling better after the email exchange I have with her I just need to remember not 2 labours are the same I might have had 2 traumatising ones but this one could be the one that stamps those out.. no idea how long this one will be considering my first labour was 4 hours start to finish and the second was 16 hours start to finish so yeah I went the opposite way 🙈 decide to try and labour as much as possible at home sure the neighbours will love me whaling away 😂 xx

annlee3817 · 02/08/2022 08:55

Ugh I feel rough this morning, have had so many tightenings in the last 24 hours, first trimester nausea seems to have returned and I feel uncomfortable with loads of pressure. Midwife at 12 today, so will see what she says, I'm 36 weeks now, thankfully am off work for the rest of the week after today, and just got to get through next week before I finish properly.

Anyone else feeling crap?

annlee3817 · 02/08/2022 08:56

Good news on the confirmation @Sweetbabydust1989
